    Erato

I did not have a good first experience with this, but decided to give it another try in honor of its re-release. Erato is one of the sharpest and most bitter roses that I've ever had on my skin. Something about this just disagrees with me. I can catch a hint of lovely sweet pea underneath the rose, but it is mostly swallowed by the bitterness. After about a half hour, this is turning powdery. Not to be entirely negative, I should note that this smells amazing on my mother. It's a wonderful pink rose backed up by sweet florals on her. On me... very bad Erato.

    Calliope

Calliope is mostly an herbal blend on me. The verbena is apparent and lemony at first, but it quickly dries down to a slightly soapy herbal scent. This is very faint too. Before I have even worn this for a full half hour, I can't smell it at all anymore. Almond is usually pretty strong on my skin, but I don't smell any almond or orange. This is mostly soapy herbs and not very me...

    Lacoste

You might want to try Grandmother of Ghosts. It has the pepper, woods, and musk in it along with some florals. I think that might be the closest one. Fae was very fruity on me, and not floral at all.

    Mercury

Mercury is one of the few oils that I have ever had a bad reaction to. When I first applied it, it was an intriguing lavender and metal smell. Maybe it was ylang ylang that was turning metallic on me. However, this quickly switches into pure red hots candies mode. Overpowering cinnamon that devours everything... including the top layer of my skin I had to try to scrub this one off several times and still I had a swollen itchy welt on my wrist. Way too much cinnamon in this one for me.

    Taurus

I am a Taurus, so yay for finally getting a decant of this one. Even though I usually hate Taurus themed scents. First on, this is rose and something green and musty in the background. Very earthy with a slightly sharp rose layered over it. After a few minutes the ylang ylang starts to come out, along with some sandalwood. Sadly, the ylang ylang is turning odd and metallic on my skin (I hate when it does this). This reminds me quite a bit of Wanton as the rose sweetens up and the sandalwood gets stronger. Wanton with a metallic twang. In an hour the rose has gone very powdery on me. Baby powder, sandalwood, and metallic ylang ylang. It gets more powdery over the next hour before fading away into oblivion. I'm happy to have tried this, but it's already getting packaged up to move on to its new home. It just doesn't work on my skin

    Daffodil

There used to be thousands of daffodils planted around our estates in Missouri, and they are one of the only flowers that I truly enjoy the smell of. I don't know if this really smells like true daffodil, but it is close and evokes those same happy feelings. First on, this is very sweet and yellow. I definitely think of that colour when I smell this. It doesn't smell traditionally floral or perfumey on me (which is what I love about real daffodils, they smell sweet and fresh). In the drydown, it begins to smell a bit more green, like the wet stems of daffodils. I love this, I love it a lot more than I should love a floral. Especially one that I can't get a bottle of...

    Black Annis

I have no idea what cave lichen smells like... that said, Black Annis is mostly anise on me. It's like black licorice mixed with a spicy/citrus men's cologne. 15 minutes later... this is a nice cliche men's fragrance. I expected it to be dark and cold, but it's a very spicy and warm fragrance on me. It makes me think of a sophisticated, freshly bathed and shaven male, who is getting ready for a night on the town. Not what I expected from Black Annis. I probably will swap my imp, since I already have a bottle of Wilde for my favorite 'smells-like-a-man' scent, lol.

    Wanton

I already have so many rose fragrances that I love (Alice, Kurukulla, Marie, Whip, The Haunted Palace, and so on), so I figured that I wouldn't really like Wanton. I figured that I already had so many versions of rose, I wouldn't need another one. Color me mistaken. Rose is often biting and sharp on me, but the rose in Wanton is smooth and slinky. A creeping, seductive rose. It hides under a woodsy blanket of red sandalwood and the entire blend is just... lovely. I don't ever smell any patchouli of this, but it is a perfect marriage of rose and sandalwood. Yet another blend that I will be needing a bottle of

What do bottles and labels look like?

Thanks for posting those Colere . All of the Demon bottles are so pretty... I can't wait for mine to come in the mail. I think that The Evening Star has my favorite label <3

    La Petite Mort

I so want to like this... I want to own a bottle of perfume called La Petite Mort. First on: Wow, this is spicy. It actually smells very peppery andn savory on me. It's not like O on me at all; it's lacking all of O's creamy sweetness. This smells like seasoning that I would want to put on a steak. In the drydown, this smells 'off' on me. Sometimes I think that I smell something rotten, and then I realize that it's the La Petite Mort. It goes from smelling peppery and making me crave a steak... to smelling rotten and a bit dirty. I never really get any sweetness from it. It's just... strange. ETA: Recent versions of this just smell like baby powder and dust on my skin. Not really an improvement, but not as odd.

    Antique Lace

Much thanks to shelldoo for sending me an imp of this one <3 Antique Lace reminds me of a lot of things. Mainly, baby powder. Somehow this isn't making me sick or putting me off as that baby powder smell usually does though. Perhaps because the powder is mixed with a gorgeous creamy vanilla fragrance. It also smells lightly floral, making me think of the tiniest white flowers. I shouldn't like it (I normally hate powder and white florals) but I do. It smells very innocent and a bit sad on me. I'll be keeping my imp and buying a few bottles of this to enable my friends.

    Fig

I like the smell of fig. In blends like Intrigue, I love it. Alone, though... it is a bit bland. Fig smells very earthy and a bit wooden on me. The singlenote isn't overly sweet at all (more of a natural fig scent) and this doesn't have a lot of throw. Bland, earthy fruit. I like this singlenote, but I don't see myself wearing it. I prefer the cocoa and fig scent of Intrigue.
  13. Blood onmy hands

    Venus

I was expecting Venus to smell sweeter and more floral, but it is neither on my skin. It smells like an herb garden and has a definite minty bite to it. Like crushing fresh mint leaves between your fingers. There is also a slight aquatic note underneath the herbal mint scent. I don't really like mint, and this doesn't smell like anything that I would normally wear. In the drydown, this starts to get both soapy and powdery. It's not awful, but it's also not something that I would ever choose to wear. I'm afraid that Venus and I are going to have to go our separate ways.
  14. Blood onmy hands

    Savage

First on, this is a crisp bite of lemon. Juicy and sour enough to make my mouth water. In the drydown it gets a bit more soapy and aquatic, but it's not a bad sort of soapy. It just smells very clean. This would be perfect for a guy who likes clean citrus scents. I'm not fond of citrus myself, but I have a male friend that this will be perfect for

    D'Anjou Pear

I have a cold, so maybe my nose is a bit off... but this smells rather floral to me. We have a huge pear tree behind our house in Missouri, and this reminds me of when the tree would actually be filled with thousands of sweet, white blossoms. In the drydown a fruitiness comes out, but it's actually not reminding me that much of pear. I can smell pear if I really use my imagination, but mostly this is a floral/fruity blend on me. It's very pleasant and pretty... but has too much of a floral edge for me.
  16. Uhh... I take excedrin migraine, lol. Only thing that works for most of my headaches. More helpful, whenever I have a headache, I always want to be wearing something light and calming. Titania has been pretty effective at clearing my head lately. Sea of Glass is another one that makes me feel clear-headed... but I have to be careful with that one because it's so strong. Too much Sea of Glass will actually give me a headache, lol. A tiny dab is very nice though. Aquatics and fresh/cool scents always make my head feel better.

    Horn of Plenty

I usually hate the way that almond smells on my skin. I'm pretty sure that Horn of Plenty has almonds on me, and it's not good. First on this smells like boozy cherries. Strong and cough-syrupy. After about 15 minutes it loses that medicinal boozy sharpness and begins to smell a bit better. A lovely buttery vanilla smell comes out, but the cherry scent is still putting me off a bit. After an hour: cherries, smoky incense, and buttery vanilla. I find myself wishing that this were just buttery vanilla... the smoky cherry just isn't working on me. Oh well, off to the swap pile.

    Block Buster

First on this smells like spicy apples and something strange. It reminds me of some sort of cleanser that my mother used to use to clean windows... sort of herbal, but chemical. The chemical smell fades after a few minutes and this is a pleasant enough spicy apple scent. 15 minutes later... this is all red hots candies on my skin . It's way too much cinnamon for me, overpowering enough to make my eyes water.
  19. Blood onmy hands

    Titania

Titania is a soapy-clean, watery sort of fruity-floral. The fruits all smell very watery, not very sweet, and pale, like fruits with most of the flavor sucked out of them. The florals are musky-perfumey, sweet, and soapy. It's hard to pick out any one note here, though I do notice the white grape and plastic-y, clean peach. All in all, this is too perfumey and soapy for me. It reminds me of a bad department store fruity-floral with white flowers. Gives me a headache

    The Haunted Palace

The Haunted Palace is hands down my favorite of the Demon scents that I've tried so far. Ruby red and amazing. The blood orange is dominant at first, super sweet and juicy. Then the rose gets stronger and it is the best rose that I have ever smelled before in my life. A full, spicy rose. I don't even normally like florals or citrus, but this is moving up to my top ten of favorite BPAL blends. The drydown just keeps getting better. The vanilla and amber come out and make this just completely swoonworthy. I can't even begin to describe how wonderful this blend is, I would never be able to do it justice. I am so glad that I got a bottle, and I think that I will buy a few more bottles before it disappears. Best rose fragrance ever, with the perfect amount of sweetness.

    Alone

Alone smells like a powdery mix of red sandalwood and cinnamon. This reminds me of my grandmother's house for some reason, perhaps a cinnamon potpourri association. I was actually rather bored with the way this smelled until the mandarin started to come out a bit more. The sweet/juicy mandarin against the dry sandalwood and cinnamon is very interesting and pleasant. I'm glad that the cinnamon is staying light and in the background. I'm not really getting any patchouli from this, but the drydown is a soft sandalwood and almost-aquatic floral-ish scent. It's very hard to pin down, but it's very pretty. It's sweet, but not overly so... I'll be keeping my bottle of this one.
  22. Blood onmy hands

    Lenore

First on, this is all smoke and vetiver... and I am being reminded of BBQ night . This is like Azathoth all over again with the BBQ smell. I never smell any lemon or plum from this. It's just very dark and dirty smelling. The vetiver stays strong and overpowers all of the other notes. This is sort of nauseating on me . I can't see myself wearing Lenore at all.
  23. Blood onmy hands

    Samhain

Odd impression that I cannot shake is that this smells a bit like cigarette smoke on me. And, as much as I hate cigarettes and the smoke makes me horribly ill, this doesn't actually smell bad. The smokiness isn't overpowering either, it stays in the background. Mostly I am smelling the fir needle and a damp leaves scent. It's like walking through the forest after a light rain in the fall, with someone who is smoking a cigarette. A bit of apple and spice comes out in the drydown, offering an apple cider-ish dimension to the blend. Samhain is an okay blend to me. It's not really grabbing me though, and it doesn't seem like something that I'd actually be comfortable wearing. I'll probably end up decanting away most of my bottle.

    Blood Moon 2005

First off, I am completely swooning over the label. I think that Blood Moon has the best label ever In the bottle this smells like clove and cinnamon, but with a softer, creamier edge. On my skin, creamy cinnamon. It smells like fresh cinnamon though, not overly sharp or candied. After a few minutes, the blend starts to smell a bit like cola. Holiday spiced cola. In the drydown this smells like swirling incense, vanilla, cinnamon, and cola. I am also catching whiffs of clove every once in a while. It's amazing. It has a very dark vibe to it, definitely makes me think of the night. On me it's the most intriguing mix of incense and foodie scents. I'm really loving this. I'm so glad that this isn't musky and that it doesn't have any dragon's blood in it. This might very well be my favorite lunar blend to date.

    Obeah

I was rather afraid to try this one after so many people said that it had jasmine in it, my skin usually amps up jasmine to frightening proportions. First on, patchouli (yay) and some sort of citrus. It smells like orange, but it's sweeter than orange usually is on me. Sweet orange, covered in patchouli... I rather like this so far. And I'm glad that I'm not getting any florals. After about 15 minutes, the orange smell has transformed into something spicier. Clove, perhaps? The spiciness is so light that it's almost unnoticeable though. Mostly I am getting evergreen and patchouli. It's very dark and earthy. I really love this after wearing it for an hour, as a resinous pine sap scent begins to take over. I like this a lot. It's very dark green and earthy... I'd get a bottle if it was ever released
