    Hades

Bottle: Okay, I can smell a bit of ambergris...and stuff. Wet: There's a sharp odor as well as something that reminds me of civet? Whatever it is, it's similar to something in Satyr. Is there rose in this?? Drydown: The floral, I guess it's the stephanotis?? I have no idea, but the...ashy? pebble-y? resiny? peppery?...undertone, whatever it is that hits the back of my throat and makes me want to cough whenever I sniff my wrist, eventually fades and I'm left with this gorgeous floral! Overall: Fab, fab, fab. I'm so glad I bought a 5ml unsniffed! Oro

    Anathema

Anathema turned into pure Dragon's Blood on me. And that's how it remained. For hours. I tried to wash it off, but not, it was there to stay. Alas. Oro

    Eve

I think I can pretty much sum up Eve as: OMFGOMFGOMFG!!! Beth And fellow Labbies? The apple blossom mellows and deepens the rose, which might otherwise be too high and heady (I think it's tea rose in here). Then the ylang ylang and the honey kick in, and I am in a field where roses and apples are blossoming at the same time, and it's the height of summer on a warm, moist day, and my whole future is ahead of me in a roseat eglow where nothing bad can ever happen. One 10ml is not enough. Oro, going emoticon crazy (it won't happen again)

    Tum

Man...I wish this smelled like grape on me. Cuz, all it smells like is lavender...with unsweet spices. Poo. Oro

    Kathmandu

Imp: Oo, smokey, with a strong peanut undertone. Wet: Still smokey, but of a fresh, dry log rather than a campfire you've just dumped a bucket of water on. I can smell something like cloves in here. Drydown: It's gone all faint on me. There's a scent that I always associate with sandalwood (not one of my favorite perfumes), as well as cedar. This reminds me of incense burning outdoors, where the breeze can sweep through it and just carries it fainly through the woods. An after image of scent, if you will. Overall: I can't say I like this, but I don't dislike it, either. Anyway, I keep wearing it, so that must mean something! Oro

    Aizen-Myoo

Imp: Citrus slam! Wet: Hmm, it's very clean and softly white... Drydown: It's sweet and soft and quite innocent, which is surprising, all things considered. Overall: It's a lovely scent, but I'm not the type of person who would wear this. Oro

    Jabberwocky

I haven't had any luck with the Mad Tea Party smells, and judging by the imp, this isn't going to be the one that breaks my losing streak. Imp: Oo, eucalyptus and pine and this smells just like my toilet cleaner. Wet: I think the orange is coming in, as the eucalyptus is taking a hike and the pine is becoming sweeter. Drydown: Gah, the same with added orange powder. Overall: I love pine...but not when it reminds me of toilet cleaner. Oro

    Lolita

Imp: Erk, it's all sharp and acidic and there's a slight hint of that pickle coming through. Wet: Morphomatic! The sharpness is all gone, but there's a hint of citrus rind and something smells vaguely like anise? Love the lemon verbena...and the sweetness of the honeysuckle and heliotrope is there too, but only in the background. Drydown: Still quite lemony, but it's fading now and the orange blossom is coming through...and going a bit powdery....very powdery, but in a good way, not a baby powder thing. It's creamy, too, quite nice. Overall: This reminds me of candy, but something between a buttermint without the mint, and - HEY! This is like Chaste Moon, but with orange and lemon!! Fab! Oro

    Anubis

Will write a longer review at some point, but for right now, wow! I wasn't too sure of this when I first sniffed it in the imp, and even when I initially put it on I was all, eh, whatever. But good gods. This is sweet and incensey without being spicy, resiny without being floral. In fact, I think it's frankincense that's not my friend, when all along I thought it was myrrh! The storax, the balsam - whatever the heck else is in this - it's GORGEOUS! Must order big bottle... Oro

    Maenad

I'll write a longer review later (damned work), but on skin this is a dead ringer for Lush's Cereology soap! Which I love! Yay! A week later: Well, I still like it, but it so does not smell like Cereology during and after drydown it's not funny. But, initially, I swear that it does. Swiped along one wrist, I found Maenad quite overpowering for the first 30-45 minutes or so, but then it dries down a lovely strawberry incense scent. However, it's not a perky, bright pink fruit scent, but more dark, as someone else put it, a Gothic Strawberry...more of a head shop scent than JC Penney, if you know what I mean. I don't know if I'll wear it out of the house, but I do like it. Oro

    Belladonna

Well say hello to Greenie McGreen! At first this is very green with a bitter, smokey undertone, After a few minutes a floral note comes out, maybe jasmine? The drydown went all powdery on me, and then about 20 minutes later it mellowed and became this slightly wet and sweet green scent, like when you're standing in a glade in a forest at twilight. I think I'd probably wear this for ritual work, or when I'm in the mood to smell of something with neither florals nor spices. I like it. Oro

    Hell's Belle

What the - ? Okay. Where on earth is this pickle-y smell coming from? It's the same note that's in SWoB and Debauchery - how does my skin do this?? I'll try this again in a couple of weeks, see if it's just some funky hormonal thing, because apart from the pickle, the rest of this smells fab... argh. Oro

    Salomé

Why? Just, why?? Salome sounded so lovely...and then I swiped some along my wrist. I could smell cherry and sandalwood, and then, ten minutes later, sandalwood and jasmine. Cue headache. It's a great scent if you like sandalwood and jasmine, but if you're like me and your skin amps them both up, then this should not be your first choice! I'm bummed. Oro

    Obeah

I smell patchouli and jasmine, plus a really sharp note on top of the jasmine. I luuuurve the patchouli, and I suspect that if I could just. Get. Over. the jasmine that I would love this, but so far I've been unable to wait for the jasmine to die down. I'll just have to grit my teeth and try again, because I must have that patchouli note! Oro

    Kyoto

Almondy, with a hint of cherry and maybe some rose? Ah, it's the anise I'm smelling, it's familiar from Kabuki. And now, I just smell the sandalwood coming through...this is lovely, but I think I prefer Kabuki. Oro

    Santo Domingo

Imp: Smells...breezy. Smells like I imagine a tropical island would be like, actually! Cool and sweet...and...breezy. Imp: The same, but a bit spicy, not that I can pick out any specifics. Drydown: This reminds me of a candy, but not a supersweet one, more something like how a Necco Wafer tastes. Overall: I really like this. It gets warmer and gently spicy after about an hour. I like Bay Rum and I suspect that this is the spiciness that I'm getting, but it's not overwhelming at all. I think this might smell fantastic on a guy... Oro

    Omen

This reminds me of a musty old book. Which is one of the things I love in life...and while I actually quite like this perfume - it's soft and gentle, yet at the same time has presence - I don't want to smell like a musty old book. Well, I might if I worked in a library. Oro, who otherwise loves musty old books!
  18. Orodemniades

    Pele

Eh, I had to double check to make sure I'd actually swiped this along my wrist. It's a lovely, pale and soft floral, but it disappeared almost immediately on me. About an hour later it came back, and while tropical and warm, it's just too faint on me. Oro

    Mad Hatter

Imp: Lavender. Hmm. Wet: Oo, it's going to powder...but I can still smell lavender. in fact that's the only thing I smell. Drydown: Powder, powder, powder...this is most definitely not for me. There's a nutty undertone to it as well...maybe some sort of musk? Mm, I don't think I like pennyroyal, either... Overall: I think on the right person this oil would be fantastic, but on me there's this note (besides the lavender) that's quite sharp and goes straight to my stomach - and not in a good way. Off to the sales it goes! Oro

    Tiger Lily

Imp: Smells vaguely floral, light and airy. Wet: Sweeter now, but still flral. Drydown: Oo, after about 15 minutes it gets much deeper, still light, but with some depth, if that makes any sense. I wouldn't call it creamy, but there's a lovely undernote to this which must be the honey. Overall: I like this a lot. I'm not sure where or when I would wear it, but I'm probably going to keep the imp. Oro

    Golden Priapus

What?? I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! Imp: Mmm, juni-juniper! With something a bit sweet underneath. It's not as nearly astringent as juniper can be at times. Wet: Bam! Juniper and immediately, vanilla and amber... Drydown: I want to eat myself. And I mean that. The juniper reminds me of a sunny pine forest, while the vanilla has gone all creamy and yummy without being overly sweet. Or maybe the astringency of the juniper and the sweetness of the vanilla are so complimentary that they cancel one another out...and thank the gods, the amber doesn't turn to powder on me (I love amber, and wail when it goes powdery). I don't get the rosewood at all. Overall: I am so glad I bought a bottle of this! I can't wait to smell what happens as it ages - I can only imagine that it's going to get even more yummy. I think this suits men and women equally, but I suspect that the woman who wears it (dare I say, moi) will most definitely have to be in touch with her masculine side. Even if she has to get in touch with her Inner Bitch to go there. And yes, this is a masculine version of Snake Oil...in fact, I like this better. Oro, who couldn't possible go through a 5ml in a year....right?

    Penitence

Does what it says on the tin! Oddly enough, I didn't get much of a scent at all when I first applied it out of the imp. After about ten minutes it began to waft up from my wrist. It's a dry sweetness, with an odd dry creaminess to it as well - I can't quite put my finger on how to describe it other than that. Overall it's a lovely resiny fragrance, but I think for myself I'd prefer these two ingredients mixed with other things. I suspect it would make a fabulous oil for those of the male persuasion, however... Oro

    Beltane 2005-06

Imp: Mm, a soft, watery green floral. Wet: Smells strongly of carnations and...carnations. With stuff. Drydown: There's something vaguely spicy in here, maybe a hint of cinnamon?? I have no idea what florals are in here - oh, I can smell a bit of tea rose, I think...and maybe some lilac? Gah, I have no clue. Overall: Okay, hours after I put this on, a scent from my childhood appears. I can't remember what it's in connection to, but I love that scent! Unfortunately it takes time to get to that phase, and I'm actually not all that fond of the first few stages of Beltane. I love florals, but find the carnation in this a little overpowering. I'll still wear it, but it might be more of a Feb-March scent than one for June... Oro

    Sudha Segara

Imp: Sharp and soapy. Wet: Dry, sharp and soapy...there's a note in here that I'm really not liking. Drydown: Nope, I think it's the ginger that's gone all dry and powdery and peppery. Overall: I don't like it. I was hoping this would go creamy on my skin, but alas, my skin took it and went . No creamy, just powder! Wah. Oro

    Nyarlathotep

Imp: sweet-ish, lemony, a bit astringent. Is there lavender in this? Cuz I'm smelling something that's making my stomach turn a smidgeon... Wet: Oo, it's quite sharp, reminds me a little bit of Old Woodsman Insect Repellant, which again, I love, but not something I want to wear outside of a camping trip! Drydown: Hmmm, this is sweetening up considerably, but not in a foody way...it smells quite aquatic, actually. Overall: I like it, but not enough to keep, I don't think. Nonetheless, it's a lovely, light, white, clean, slightly salty scent, just not for me. Oro
