Wet: Cocoa with wine and a hint of alcohol, which I presume is the rum. Should be interesting... Drydown: Wow, that's different! Reminds me of Blood Kiss, but chocolatey. 1.5 hours later: Oh wow, it's gone all incensey and soft...lovely! Unpronounceable, but lovely! Overall: A definite keeper! Oro

Wet: High and sweet, orange-y with honey. Drydown: Oo, interesting, not something I would ever have picked out as something to wear. It's a fruit-ish floral, but not fruity, and I know that doesn't make any sense, but there you are. It's wet and lush but not aquatic. Overall: I really like this. Oro

Wet: This smells good, with just a hint of yeast (I know, I'm weird). Drydown: still smelling good despite the presence of my nemesis, jasmine. I guess it's the white musk and Asian plum that's taming the jasmine, as this is lovely and lush and quite white, if you know what I mean. Overall: A scent to dab rather than slather, as although it's white, it's also quite strong. I'm not big on white florals, but I quite like this. Oro

Wet: Oo, there's something really sharp in this that I don't like. Hope it goes away! Drydown (plus a few washings of the hands): Okay. The sharpy-bittery-goes straight through my sinuses thing is overshadowing everything else. When I can distract myself long enough from that, there does seems to be an aquatically sweet tone that's quite mellow, like a vanilla or something reminiscent, a waxy wetness, if that makes any kind of scent whatsoever. Overall: the bitter/sharp is simply to overwhelming on me. Off to the sales it goes! ETA: ah...I think it's the orange blossom. I came across it in something else recently but didn't think it was the culprit. Oh well... Oro

Well, heck. I love amber. And most of the time, amber loves me. However, for whatever reason, BPAL's ambers just don't work with my chemistry. Alas, I've bought (but have yet to receive) a 5ml of The Lion, and last week jumped on an imp, figuring I'd. Love. It. But no! On me, The Lion is sweet black tea with cinnamon and the barest hint of amber. I'm so disappointed. Oro

Forest & Woods Scents (with and without evergreens)
Orodemniades replied to omly's topic in Recommendations
Tintagel, Thanatopsis, maybe the Highwayman?? Or am I just going mad on that one? Oro -
Mm, Parma Violets... Oro, sucking on a violet candy

When I sniffed the imp i had my doubts, and on my skin this turns even more bitter and acidic and metallic. I don't know what in this is not agreeing with me, as I don't think there's anything in here that I haven't worn before? Oy, it's like accidently eating a smidgeon of tinfoil that then hits a metal filling - ouch! The smell literally makes my stomach turn...and y'know the worst part? I bet this is absolutely fantastic on everyone else... Oh well. There's always something new to try. Oro

Mm, sweet, with something vaguely citrussy? With lily or maybe gardenia? I don't get pineapple in this, but as it dries it is becoming soapy, but florally so. It's definitely bright and cheery, with a hint of incense somewhere. I like it! Oro

Wet: Gorgeous! Quite sharp and sour at first, then the apple (blossom??) comes through while the lemon and rose fade into the background. Drydown: Apples apples apples! Gorgeous! Like Eve's simpler, even more innocent cousin...hours later the sweetness seems to go away, and a nuttiness comes through...can't identify what it is, but I like it. Overall: Do you think 3 10ml bottles would be too much? Hmm...what can I say, I this!! Oro

Violet with a hint of jasmine? Something peppery... Drydown: mm, where's the smoke coming from? I can smell African violet here, which wasn't present when I first swiped it on. Lovely. Overall: It seems to have a fast fade, but for the first hour or so it's a lovely, dusky, 'in the gloaming' kind of scent. Oro

I may have a stuffed nose but the reek of jasmine can still cut through all the...stuff. I can smell rose too, but on the get go it's all about the jasmine. I think this'll be too jasmine-y for me to wear, although it's quite creamy so far as I can tell. Hmm, well, it's very strong when first applied but on me, at least, seems to fade quite quickly. IT also goes a bit soapy in the later stages. Overall this is quite nice if you like jasmine. I find the jasmine just about bearable, but it strays over into headache territory after a couple of minutes. One for the swaps! Oro

Well, it's definitely milk chocolate! Personally I'd rather eat milk chocolate than smell like it, but to each their own. It's nice, but not for me I'm afraid. Oro

Hmm, I use Firefox but have never had any problem with CCNow - apart from that really annoying ad. I wish I had something more concrete for you, but unfortunately it sounds like Paypal would be better. Oro

This is light and sweet, airy and wet all at the same time. I'm not one much for white flowers, but those that do like them should love this. Oro

I'm ill at the moment, this comes from my initial notes: Soapy! Very dry and resiny. Dryly sweet, but to be honest it turns my stomach a little bit. I think that's probably down to the either the vetiver or the sandalwood, perhaps a combination of both. Overall, it's okay, but nothing I'd choose to wear. Oro

I'm ill at the moment, this is from my initial notes: Wet: woody, smokey, slightly sweet Drydown: sandalwood? Dragon's Blood? I can barely smell it...there's a smokey hint in here, as well as cherry... Overall: Reminds me of spicy black tea...I'll definitely have to try this again, but I think I like it!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
Orodemniades replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
How about new oils vs old? I have a couple of imps of Seraglio that I can wear with no problems, but when I recently got my 5ml from the Lab and slathered some on all the usual places - neck, wrists, crooks of elbows, back of the knees, etc - all went bright red and burn burn burny. This lasted about 10 minues, and although I smelled good, I've been hesitant to try it again. I've got plenty of food sensitivities, although no allergies to anything besides foods from the Deadly Nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, tobacco, all peppers save peppercorns. Anyway, is this a common occurence, or just me? Oro -
what the - ?! Bottle: Almondy McAlmond! Wet: sweet almond, but not foody sweet. I guess that's the musk toning it down? There's also something florally sweet here? Maybe? Drydown: Oo, something's gone to baby powder...which makes sense, as She is the protector of babies and children, just not what I was expecting. And what is that floral - rose? Orange blossom?? Overall: I only got my bottle a couple of hours ago, but the scent has changed between the first and second applications. It's become deeper, wetter, spicier. I'll have to review this again, but on first application I find it a little disappointing - but only because I was expecting something darker! Oro

How much is shipping between $350 and $500?
Orodemniades replied to Whippoorwill's topic in BPAL FAQs
Yeah, but what I want to know is what did you order?! Oro -
Imp: Say...that's mighty strong. Resisting the urge to slather will be very, very easy. Wet: Hrm. There's something sweet and musky, and something that smells like a particular type of wet sand - you know the kind they use in playgrounds? It's not bad, just...it brings me back to the early 70's. Drydown: Um, the same...just not as wet. Overall: Woo, nothing I'll be wearing out of the house, that's for sure! I suspect I'll use this strictly for ritual work - it's just too much otherwise. Oro

Hey, an oil with DBR that I can wear! It's light, lovely, and aquatic. I don't care for DBR, but this is one scent with it that I could happily wear to work. One I'm keeping! Oro

Imp: Oo, this smells sickly sweet, with an undertone of rankness. But! I shall endeaver onwards... Wet: Still berry berry sweet... Drydwn: Oo, what's this? Why, it must be the myrhh! And there's some honey, I think that's the rank smell, cuz other non-BPAL honey products have the same tone, and oo, it's turned all to incense!! Omfg I this!! This reminds me of an incense I used to burn - but it's not the afterscent, but of the stick before it's burned, or post-burning but without the smokey odor. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, here?? It's not Gonesh, but I think one of the other major brands, the one with the piccy of blue Krishna on the front, they do perfume oils too. Can. Not. Remember. Overall: Guess what's going to be in my next order?? This smells fab on me and would be pretty damned jumpable on a person of the male persuasion. Truly gender neutral! Edited to add: Having read the other reviews after posting my own, I must agree that this is very much a pagan, temple smell. This is what I will be wearing when I worship, and quite frankly, this might even become my signature scent - and that's saying something! Oro

This is a very light, summery scent, fresh and crystalline. It's a bit citrus peel-y, but not bitter. It's very nice, but not, I think, for me. Oro

I have jasmine issues...just so you know. Black Dahlia is all jasmine and something that smelled like lotus to me, although there's no lotus in here. It starts out sweet and sharp, then powders up on drydown. The scent remains much the same, however, as time passes. I don't know if I'll be keeping it, but the jasmine doesn't go insane on me, so mebbe I will. Oro
