I picked this out of my jar of 'to-be-tried's' and I am so glad I did! Imp: Mmm, a heavy, sweet floral - but not heavily sweet, if that makes sense. Wet: Strong...too strong? Drydown: it's ! I went out to feed the birds, and all I could smell was this gorgeous, sweet, spring-like odor. I sniffed my wrists and could just barely smell Nocturne. Ladies and gents, that's a first for me - a perfume so skillfully blended that I almost could not tell the difference between my wrist and the smell of the earth around me! Overall: Okay, I've been wearing this for almost two hours and it seems to be fading quite quickly, but that's okay. Nocturne is simply lovely. The lilac, which can sometimes be too strong for me, was perfectly tempered by the violet and tuberose. It's on the list for a big bottle! Oro

Oh, the first time I tried this I loved it! And then... imp Wow, heavy florals, but I'll give it a try. Wet: er...florals with a hint of...sweet pickle relish?! Must be the osmanthus, as I tend to get along with everything else. Drydown: Wth...?! I love love love the florals, although this time around they do seem heavy on the violetlilac. Unfortunately that pickle smell is just not going away. 7 hours later...: there's still a very faint odor of faded florals, kind of like dusty/musty potpourri - which is not necessarily a bad thing, mind Overall: I guess my skin changed between last week and today - or maybe Ouija just doesn't like being layered with Endymion? An accidental layering, I assure you! I'll try it again because I had such a great response the first time around, but I have to confess I'm scared something will try and eat me if I do. Oro

Brisingamen went all powdery on me, alas, and I never got any amber out of Blood Amber. Dammit. Weirdly, Thanatopsis, which has no amber in it, smells very ambery-y on me. Sounds like I have to try The Lion! Oro

You can also order Gonesh, among other scents, from Incense Guru. And they ship worldwide! Oro, who also loves #6...along with 2, 4, 10, 12, Love and Honeysuckle

Skuld is a nice scent. It's quite sweet, and on me strong for about 3 hours before it almost completely fades. I do get the grape soda-ness of it for the first hour but happily it fades quickly. Overall it's a nice scent, one I'll probably keep (unless someone offers me something better!) although I doubt I'll wear it often. Oro

Oo, this is far too balanced for me to break out individual scents beyond rose, to be honest, but what a lovely rose it is! I wasn't too sure of the imp, as it smelled...like something I've smelled before, but don't particularly care for. I suspect it's the pear. On my skin this disappeared almost immeditely, and the rose and lily of the valley came out - yet not too much lily, which can sometimes go quite sour on my skin. Overall It's a light floral, something I'd probabl wear in the depths of winter, on a bright, sunny, cold and crisp day. Lovely! Oro

Imp: Mmm, pine! Like walking through a pine forest just dripping with rain. Do I detect a hint of juniper as well? Wet: Pine pine pine! And some Eucalyptus! And a hint of lemon? Drydown: Oo, there's something sweet in this...like grape soda, but it's not a foody scent, if that makes any sense...mmm pine! Pine is good! Overall: Me likee. A lot. For me this is very much a pine forest at night, either early in the morning or just after twilight, when it's cool and misty and fat drops of water are rolling off the needles and plopping down on your forehead and shoulders. Fab. Oro

Imp - lightly sweet, with a rank undertone that I suspect is the bergamot and vetiver. I can smell the carnation as well. Wet - the same scent, strong yet lighter at the same time. I can really smell the carnation and iris blossom. Drydown - more of the same, but the moss is coming through. Overall - it's nice! The jasmine hasn't, amazingly enough, gone crazy on me, but I think there's just enough of it to turn this into something I wouldn't necessarily wear all that often. I'll keep the imp, but I won't be buying a bottle. Oro

Snagged this from the Apothercary's Cat. Imp: green! Wet: green, very tea-like. Drydown: Green and tea with a light floral over the top. Overall: gone in 20 minutes! A nice scent, very light, something I'd give to someone I didn't know well, but not something I'd wear. Oro

Oo, I love the idea of so many ambers being in one bottle! And Apple Blossom! So yummy! Imp: smells like Eucalyptus and sweetened, cold, sun tea Wet : Mm, amber! But there's something sweet, a light note of...something, that I guess must be the Apple Blossom. Drydown: Argh, it's turning to powder! With amber underneath! Argh! Overall: I love amber, oh I do...alas, my skin is doing bad things to it. I suspect this is because my favorite ambers are very spicy, and while this one lasted for hours, overall it went too powdery. I'll still wear it, but I suspect it's a cold weather scent rather than something for summer. Oro

Hmm. Imp: I loves me some marzipan...strong and sweet, with a hint of spiced orange in the background. Wet: same as the wet, but the marzipan fades as it dries. Drydown : I can't pick out any individual note, there's just an overall scent of a soft, vaguely spicy sweetness. Overall : Bah, it's turned to powder on me. I like Seraglio, I'm just not sure when or where to wear it. Update 5/10/05 Well! Age Seraglio a little bit and the powder scent disappears, while the orange and cloves come to the front! It's a fantastic, subtly seductive perfume, great for nights (or days) when you want to cuddle...and then some. Update 6/23/05: Er, I've had my first not-so-good incident. The imps I've tested from were fine, but the new bottle I've just received from the Lab made my skin burn and turn bright red. Just so ya know. Oro

Antique Lace didn't work out for me, I'm afraid. It's a lovely scent, but a little too baby powder-y for me. Oro

Alas, Dorian turned to Lemon Pledge on me. Weeks later: I got another imp of this, and it was completely different on my skin. Instead of creamy lemony goodness, it turned into Snake Oil! With stuff! Omgwtfbbq? Seriously, what is my skin doing to this oil?? I can see myself wearing this to work, so I'll keep the imp, but I won't be ordering a bottle. I don't think. Oro, still keeping it short and sweet.

Oo, it's just like Lush's Snow Cake! It's a bit almondy, a touch sweet, a bit green...overall, it's lovely! Oro edited because I'm an idiot

This is what I expected Silk Road to be like, smokey, spicey, very Imp : Mm, very orange blossom-y, with a background of mint and cloves Wet : This smells like an orange- mint chocolate! Must be the tobacco in the background. Drydown: Still orange-y, but, sniff oh, there's the musk! And clove! And fir! Overall: damn my skin! This seems to fade within 30 minutes or so...maybe I'm just sniffing too much, because o, I Am In Love! Forget the 5ml, this is going straight to the 10ml list! It's sexy, spicy, reminiscent of conspiracies and dark rooms and Fox Mulder on a bad day, if you know what I mean. Oro

Oh, tea. Yeah, Silk Road is light, spicy, green tea. It reminds me of old, musty books left forgotten in corners, of dim lights and dust motes. I want to like it. But there's this really, really, really sharp note of...something. I don't know what it is. Another one to try in a few weeks, methinks. Oro

It's all been said by better writers than me, but suffice to say, I Lurve Kali! Having said that, when wet on my skin, there's a distinctly unpleasant smell that reminds me of new wet leather, but this fades as it drys. Thank goodness. It's a scent that lasts and lasts, too. Oro

Hmm. Not sure what to write about SWOB. I can smell violets and clove and some other superstrong floral note, maybe the gardenia everyone else smells...? It's a sickly sweet floral with that cod liverish undertone again. I couldn't take it for very long, but I'll try again some time in the future. Oro
-
Oh. My. Imp: The first time I sniffed the imp I thought the scent was gorgeous, and I was looking forward to it very much. The second time I sniffed it, a day later, I thought it smelled just like Cod Liver Oil. People, this is not a good thing. Wet : Just a whiff of cod liver, lots of floral, but there's an undertone of...bitter?...something unpleasant, underneath. Drydown : Oh, something's making my stomach very unhappy. Reading the reviews, I think it's the civet. It doesn't smell like poo or urine or an old people's home to me, but still... 15 minutes later: I have to wash it off. I really want to like this scent, and there are parts of it that I do, but that rank undertone is simply too unpleasant. Overall I'm keeping the imp. I'll try it again at some point, but I suspect it might go on the swaps list. Oro

Oh, I'm so disappointed. I wanted to love this, but unfortunately it was vanilla in the imp, vanilla wet, and ever so slightly spicy vanilla on the drydown. Vanilla's all right, I just find it a bit boring. On me it's a very femmy scent - sweet without any particular depth. It also fades almost immediately. I'll keep the imp...maybe. 24 hours later... so I woke up in the middle of the night to the most wonderful scent wafting from my wrists. I've changed my mind and will be ordering a bottle after all ! A good scent for when you need some comfort. Oro

Oo, another day, another imp! Imp : very very piney, a touch medicinal Wet: still piney, but more like how it smells when you're walking through a wet pine forest, earthy dampness underneath Drydown: What is that I smell?! Reminds me of Avon's Skin So Soft, the green one, and I love SSS... Two hours later... I reminds me of amber, but I don't know why. It fades very quickly on me, but that's okay, I'll just refresh. Frequently. ETA: So, it's months later and I've finally slathered on some from my big bottle. Starts off fantastically, but within two hours turned to soap. I don't know what happened between the imp I tried and the bottle, but, oh, I'm so bummed! Oro, putting it on the big bottle list

I've never smelled DB before, but from reading the reviews did expect the cherry scent. Bottle - Very, VERY cherry, with a bit of almond and vanilla behind wet - helloooo cherry almond! Very strong...dies down to more almondy in flavour. drydown - there's a hint of amber in there, but over all it's still cherry, but a woody cherry, kind of like how rosewood sounds like it should smell (but doesn't). No amber whatsoever, which is pooey, because I love amber. dry - pleasantly warm, still quite sweet, but woody with lots of vanilla. I like it, ir reminds me of something from my childhood, but I can't quite figure out what. I've slathered some more on and hopefully it'll come to me in my dreams. Overall: nice, but I think I'm good for the rest of the year, probably longer. Oro

Oo, my first review - squee! Initial: Jasmine and roses and vanilla...smells good. Wet: Mm, very Jasmine-y, love the rose and the vanilla, hope that comes through even more. There's just a hint of coffee underneath everything else... Drydown: I like Jasmine. On other people. This may stem from the time I spilled half of a 5ml bottle of Attar of Jasmine on the front desk at work (bookstore, the bosses were away - oddly enough, they never said anything when they returned two days later. Guess they thought it was just me!). Haven't been able to wear it or, really, even smell it. I've still got a sample of Lush's Flying Fox in my bathroom. hours later: Where did the roses go?? My cleavage, apparently, because they're certainly not on my oh-so-jasmine-y wrists. Alas, one for the swap pile, methinks. Overall, a lovely scent, just not one I can wear. Or at least, not one I can wear without wanting to throw up. Oro
