  1. This was an admitted loooooooong shot because cherry and me just can't seem to make friends :( I was drawn in by the patchouli and verbena notes in the description though. The first time I tried it was epic fail - cough syrup cherry that made me feel a little gross :P I'm glad I gave it a second try though, because one it had sat for a littel while I started to get more of the cassis and a little less of the cherry. Probably not one I'll reach for very often but glad I tried it! Gives me hope for other blends with cherry that I should give them a chance too.

  2. Brrrr! Sharp, astringent snow and ozone. Even the hints of violet are a little sharp like bruised leaves of an aromatic plant. Reminds me quite a bit of Death of the Gravedigger. I like it very much, I'm just not sure how much anyone else will want to smell it on me, though...

  3. Smells like camping and I took a roll in the fire pit  This is a good thing. Pure smoke for quite a while, then it slowly starts to sweeten just in the background. A few hours later, there's an incense quality to it and it's so so so what I was hoping for :joy: If Agnes Nutter is my pile of burning leaves on a fall day, St. John's is my new summer fire scent.

  4. This started out as one of my favorite floral blends of all time, which is saying alot since I'm not a big floral gal. I got mist-covered lilac blossoms on a humid, overcast day. Freakin' awesome. Then it all went wrong :( The flowers amped to critical mass, a powdery deoderant note came along for the ride and it turned into a GAP lotion smell. Damn it!! I'll try scent-locketing this one, because it was so perfect before my skin chemistry botched it.

  5. Hey cinnamonmel :) my two cents on the Gaimans:

I'm one of the people Famine goes really bad on, but its because my skin hates lilac, so if yours doesn't mind the lilac note, you should be fine! (I wish I wish I wish Famine worked! - I'm constantly retrying it hoping it will be better on me with age.)

Consider giving Shadwell a chance despite the mildew - I never smell mildew, just rich, glorious, sweet leather and tobacco with cream. Freaking awesome scent.

I also wanted to plug Ligur, Mr. Nancy, Crowley and Mr. Jacquel. Tristran is sexy as hell and Fairy Market is lovely. Aziraphale was a lighter masculine musk/wood if that helps.

The hard part with alot of the Gaimans is that many of them didn't work the way I expected but became my favorites anyway. Good luck :D

  6. I think the caramel that's a bit hit and miss with me sent this one down the path of Coca-Cola on my skin. Grrrr.... This was supposed to my favorite of the Lupercalias, but it's off to the swap pile.

  7. This is the standout surprise hit of the Bards for me :wub2: I love every note listed but was a little worried about the honey amping on me as it usually does. I shouldn't have worried! This is the masculine counterpart to Marianne on me. Deep, dark currant with a rich sweetness in the background from the honey and a large dose of musk and patchouli. A deep red scent that is as velvety as the description states. Kinda smells like sex, in fact :yum: Insanely sexy, dark blend. One of my new favorites and I'm rushing off to buy a bottle because this decant isn't nearly enough!

  8. My skin really eats this one! It goes on similar to Host of the Air, both very similar to dryer sheets. Then where Host goes to the sweet, vivid grasses, this one goes to sweet and clear water with a slightly soapy tinge. That's all I got before my skin ate it :( I'll be trying again because it's very pretty the short time it's around.

  9. Hmmmm goes on almost like dryer sheets, but quickly turns into grasssss. Tart chef is right on with this one - it's like a healthy dose of Blade of Grass mixed with Schoolhouse, Passionate Shepherd, and some Garden Path with Chickens for a bit of floral. Fresh and pretty, but keeps waffling between good scent and dryer sheets for me.

  10. Very pretty scent, but another no-go for me with the Snake Pit. This one is a dead ringer for The Perfumed Garden, though. Strong apple and flower smell with barely any SO other than a faaaint hint in the background. I refuse to give up with these slithering lovelies since King Cobra is so freaking amazing.

  11. I don't get a whole lot of scent out of Tamora. I get some peach that's darkened with the amber and sweetened with the vanilla....on second thought I'd kind of like to eat this if it was a pie... Not much throw, but a rich, dark oil.

  12. This is a fantastic dry incense! Good throw with a sweetness that offsets the dry spice nicely. Reminds me of one of my incense favorites but I can't place whether it's Midnight Mass, All Saints or Crfax Abbey... I'm leaning towards Midnight Mass and it's nice to have a GC incense I enjoy as much as the LE's :D

  13. Strong stuff with a lot of throw. I get herbs in a thick, sweet honey syrup. A bit too potent for me. I'll stick with Mr. Jaquel and Eshe for my Egyptian embalming needs ;)

  14. Freaking amazing on my skin! :D This is one of my top BPAL's. Very similar to Judith and Holofernes because of the skin musk I think. This just sparkles with almost a hint of melon sweetness to it. The sugar cane smells like I sprinkled my skin with sugar and the copal gives it a slight creaminess I adore. Perfect oil!

  15. I knew this would be a good one! Orange blossom loves my skin, so this was a very safe bet :) Very similar to Vixen, but without the spicy Snake Oil edge that one has. A mellower Vixen with a deeper richness from the vanilla amber. Great oil!
