    In the Bottle

    Sexy, incensey, dark, and twangy.

    On

This reminds me of Noir, it has that slightly smokey oponomax, and slightly sweet incensel. A bit peppery because of the pimenta but it's lovely.

    30 minutes

It turns even more smokey on me after 20 minutes or so.

    Throw:

    Yep, a bit.

    Scent category:

    Resinous/Incense/Woody

    Summary

I love this, I think I used to much initially as this blend has quite a presence. I put just a dot on my other wrist when I wore it later later and it was just Heaven. Thank you Beth.

    Purchase again?

Yes! I'm glad I purchased more than one bottle.

    In the bottle

    Mmm.

    On

    What a sensual floral!

    30 minutes

I think if I used a very light touch when applying that this could be an every day scent for me.

It's a dark, incensey (and sweeti-ish) floral. Normally I don't do well with florals, especially strong ones. Crysanthemum Moon is an exception. It is a strong floral so I would have put this on rather lightly, but it would be worth learning a light hand because of the goodness of the other ingredients.

I had my husband sniff my wrist when I first put it on and he thought "it's too strong but it's sexy underneath, if you don't put so much on, I'd like it actually.

    *thud*

    Throw:

    Yes.

    Scent category:

    Incensey/Floral

    Summary

Crysanthemum Moon has a deep, smoky incense quality that makes this an incrediblely gorgeous, sexy and addictive scent on my skin. Kudos to Beth for creating a Lunacy blend that is so different.

    In the bottle

    I love this bottle, LOL.

It smells like yummy goodness of some kind inside.

    On

I have no idea what is in this, Musk of course, but also...orange maybe? Lemon, and something sweet and maybe floral... honey? And a fresh, spring "outside air and green grass" scent underneath. Whatever it is, it's entirely sexy.

    30 minutes

It hasn't changed much and I love this. It's a cross between foody, musky and green with just a whisper of sweetness.

    Throw:

    Yes, more than average.

    Scent category:

    Musk(animalistic)/ Fruity/Green?

    Summary

A sexy, gender neutral scent. It's fresh and green, yet musky, slightly sweet and sexy. The spring air quality of of this blend is a more male scent and the musk more feminine smelling and sweet imo. I can't stop smelling my wrist.

    This has great staying power.

    In the bottle

hmm. Different, more of a masculine scent. I smell Red Musk primarily with of bit of cherry.

    On

I smell lavender, rose, Red musk, but I don't like the combination at all.

    30 minutes

I don't know, I had to wash it off. I normaly like to at least wear a blend even if I don't like it for 30 minutes. But no, just no.

    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/lush...eedledumbot.jpg

    In the bottle

    Mmm...smells green and fruity.

    On

This is also a nice fruit blend that is differnet. Kind of tangy, bright, fruity and green. Not citrus, thicker smelling fruit.

    30 minutes

The Fig and patchouli are the prominent things on my skin now. Tweedledum is a sexy, earthy, lushiously thick and fruity scent when it's dry.

    Throw:

    average

    Scent category:

    Fruity

    Summary

Great fruity blend for Summer. This blend has more of a bright feeling than Tweedledee. More astringent but less airy, more earthy.

    Purchase again?

Yes. Pretty, fruity, earthy, green and different.

    In the bottle

    :D

    Fruit punch!

    On

Why didn't I buy more than one bottle? This Tweedledee smells sort of like of Akuma meets Swank. A bit of orange, and a bit of something else like pomgranate or other fruit.

    30 minutes

Now it's what I would call Fresh-Fruity. It smells of orange, a bit of another fruit, and fresh air.

    Throw:

    Ohh...wonderful! :P

    Scent category:

    Citrus

    Summary

This the best orange blend I've ever smelled from bpal period I do believe.

    In the bottle

    Mmm, boozy eggnog. Yummay. icon_razz.gif

    On

Sooo good, a fruity yet creamy and buttery scent.

It smells like pomegranates, fresh cream, butter and booze. Drink me doesn't smell as dark as Eat Me.

    30 minutes

As it dries it gets more astringent and less creamy smelling. There's an undertone, very light, that smells smokey. I have no idea what the slightly rich and smokey thing is, but it's good. I can't stop sniffing my arm. It's a definitively non-sweet, foody scent in here, it almost smells like mashed potatoes and gravy? It's good though, it blends with the rest of the ingredients, not prominent at all. Popcorn! I think it's buttery popcorn.

    Throw:

    average

    Scent category:

    Foody/Fruity ?

    Summary

I love scents that take me on a ride; changing and morphing with little surprises around the corner, never losing the original wet scent. "The Caterpillar" is like that for me and so is Drink Me.

Starts out scented of a wonderful eggnog smell; creamy, fruity, than as it dries the buttery popcorn scent comes in lightly.

    In the bottle

    Cake! Yummy.

    On

Buttery cake, something chocolatey, and something a wee bit boozy and this all blends to make a foody scent with a sexy undertone. wink.gif

Is it coconut I smell in here?

Reminds me a bit of "Velvet" mixed with a bit of fruity/boozy that is quite nice.

    30 minutes

As it dries it smells more similar to "Spooky" on my skin.

    Throw:

    average

    Scent category:

    Foody

    Summary

Foody, creamy, buttery goodness, then a few minutes later, boozy/fruitness is included. This fruitieness is what really would set this apart from other foody blends imo. Unfortnately this phase didn't last on me.

    Purchase again?

No. I love the wet phase but not the dry down. I like the way Mitsvah or the Monsterbaits smell on me more than Eat Me. I felt the same way about Spooky so take that into consideration hehe. Something in there just morphs on my skin into something that smells like burning coffee.

    TALHandfasting.jpg

    In the bottle

Mmm, pretty, orange blossom and another white flower. A bit of sweet of foodiness underneath, fresh smelling.

    On

Lovely orange blossom. Maybe lemon verbena.

    30 minutes

This is stil a nice, medium-strong citrus that doesn't lessen in intensity at 30 minutes. The foodiness that I smelled when wet isn't there now. The orange blossom scent has turned lemony.

    Throw:

    a bit more than average

    Scent category:

    Floral/Citrus

    Summary

Handfasting is a lovely ancient Celtic wedding ritual (almost always Pagan or Wiccan) in which the bride's and groom's hands are tied together.

TAL's "Handfasting" blend is fresh smelling and citrussy. It starts out a soft orange and turns into a more astringent, almost lemony citrus.

    Yes

  10. TALRadianceofRa.jpg

    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/lush...LRadofRabot.jpg

    In the bottle

I smell Mandarin, but creamy as well. It makes me go "Mmm".

    On

(dab on skin and annointing a gold colored candle)

Neroli. If you like Neroli, you'll love Radiance of Ra. It's also got alot of orange blossom? And something else I can't quite get. A creamy or powdery floral?

    30 minutes

It's not as strong as it was in the beginning on my skin but is still as strong on the candle. I am fortunate to have some of Beth's orange blossom sn and i'm convinced that anything made with her ob is going to be good to me.

The working effects of RoR are great, as it begins to dry it it brings feelings of joy and a magnetic, warm, loving, vibe comes over me. Strong, but gentle. If it were a color it would be kind of soft coral, orange, as well as golden.

    Throw:

    Average

    Scent category:

    Citrus/Floral?

    Summary

More gentle when dry, a strong blend initially.

It's not as "woo!" as BPAL's "Sol" blend but somewhat along those lines when it's wet. It doesn't have that dill smell (that probably isn't dill) like Sol does to some people's noses when wet. Radiance of Ra is warmer, more subdued and creamier, still very orangey though.

    Great working blend!

After reading that Yeahbutnot smells carnations, the light bulb finally went on over my head regarding the mystery floral note I smelled but couldn't place.

    Purchase again?

    Yes

    1-5 rating (5 being best)

4.5 smells good and is an above average working blend for me upon first time use.

  11. BPALSpirit.jpg

    In the bottle

This is a golden colored blend.

It smells of honeysuckle in the bottle.

    On

Initialy I smell honeysuckle, and seconds later here comes the cinnamon.

No one is stronger, both being equal and nicely balanced.

Note: I agree with above poster, It does smell like there is lilac in here but I'm not sure, it's hard to smell to seperate it out because of the honeysuckle, both florals being somewhat sweet. And the cinnamon is not leting me pick anything out. It does remind me somehwat of Chimera as well, but this one being stronger to me.

    30 minutes

It almost has a fennel-like scent because of the cinnamon but after around 30 minutes when it's completely dry the cinnamon backs off a bit so the floral can come through more, which is good.

    Throw:

    Yes, more than average.

    Scent category:

    Floral/Spicy

    Summary

I love spicy blends and I don't usually get to try a spicy floral. This is nice. Not what I expected at all though. I expected lavender, more as "the ethers" would smell, whatever that means. It's a nice surprise though, just different.

It's a different blend most definitely, I've not smelled any bpal blend like this as really with the exception of Chimera.

    Purchase again?

Yes. I would use this as a "working" blend (maybe as the 5th element) primarily but I would also wear this, but only sometimes.

  12. BPALLunacyPeony.jpg

    In the bottle

Mmmm...I love Peony. I've been fortunate to try Beth's single note Peony and it is lovely. Historically, I've not been a huge floral fan but because of Beth's Peony I consider myself to be a floral lover now.

    On

Beautiful. I can't describe what peony smell slike, it's soft, fresh, pale pink.

    The plum blossom is swooooon-worthy.

    30 minutes

It turns somewhat soapy on me but nothing that would make me not want to wear this lovely fresh floral.

    Throw:

    Yes.

    Scent category:

    Summary

This Lunacy blend is right up there for me in popularity with Blue Moon, Hunter Moon, Fruit Moon, Sleepy Moon...the classics. *wink*

    In the bottle

    Sa-weet mother of God.

    On

I don't smell any booze, I think I'm glad, it's LUSHIOUS blackberries and a thick caramelly middle...wait...here comes the booze.

Oh man, if you love BPAL's "Bewitched" or "Glasgow" but wish they were less herbal and more foody, this is YOUR blend. I love all blackberry blends period, but this is a wonderful addition of a foody blackberry blend.

    30 minutes

There's this hint of darkness that creeps in (the Bourbon) and it's driving me wild right now. It almost has that currant smell, kinda earthy, berryish and sexy. Great, I wanna have drunken sex with berries.

I smell buttery caramel. I was worried that this would smell a bit like Spooky, because as you know coconut hates me. "MB: Under Bed" smells more like Mitszvah but more buttery and less burnt sugar. Reminds me of a cross between "Midway" and "Trick or Treat" a bit, but less candy like and more buttery rich.

    On

Oh my. This is really good. It smells exactly like Angel Food cake with coconut just as the description suggests. And it is good on me thusfar.

Gets a little toasted coconut smellng is the only difference.

Smells kind of like my dad when he and my mom would go out for the evening when I was young. Like a men's cologne scent but a tad more feminine than that.
    On
Wow, this is almost angelic, it's sort of like Anthelion but more...hmm...crisp and green? It seems ot have some eucalyptus or something. And maybe some unidentifiable (to me) floral.
It's got a bitter/citrussy twang to it now too.
    30 minutes
Stays the same as when wet actually. Long lasting and doesn't fade too much at all.
It does get just an iota sweeter (it's lovely this way) now as opposed to when it's wet on my skin.
It doesn't smell at all like it did when wet now at 30 minutes. It smelled kind of mens cologne-y initially but now it's more like Amsterdam meets Anthelion mixed with a shot of grapefruit and some additional hebral or green.

    In the bottle

Sooo pretty. A floral, but it's light and I think there is citrus (lemon or grapefruit) in here as well.

Oh my GOD. If someone told me there would be scent that is even more gorgeous and lemony spring-like than "Milk and Honey" or "Sylph" I wouldn't have believed it.

    On

I'm wearing this one on my wrist. It's like sunshine, lemony.

Be aware, if you have sensitive skin, do not wear this on your skin.

Oh my , it smells like cinnamon and... chocolate? It smells sort of like chocolate. And it seems to have a vaguely cherry-ish or currant note somewhere. I hope I'm not just hungry.

    30 minutes

It still smells the same and is definitely working it's way on me. It's gives me a warm or even a hot feeling around me.

    Throw:

  18. In the bottle

I smell Amber and a somewhat piercing, bright herbal smell like heliotrope.

    On

I annointed a stone with this blend.

    30 minutes

It's sweet, like golden amber initially and thick and resinous, then it becomes brighter more astringent and almost piercing.

Than it relaxes a bit and warms up again to a golden smelling or "feeling" blend.

    Throw:

    Scent category:

    Summary

This is a lively blend, it seems to be alive and change as I smell it, alternating between a warm golden resin and a piercing, astringent, bright quality. Like the sun.

I was hoping that this was the entirely captivating scent coming from my shelves. And lo and behold...it was.
    On
I'm annointing a lavender colored candle with this for some color work, and also dabbing some on my skin.
There's got to be jasmine, stargazer lily or some floral like that in here, it's got fabulous throw.
It starts out smelling of like green grass, carnation, jasmine, lavender ....maybe not lavender on second thought. It smells purple, light purple.
    30 minutes
At about 10 minutes it goes from a softer floral scent to a stronger but still a lovely, sweet floral with a fresh scent to it and incredible throw. I also smell lotus in there or *tries to remember the single note review wherein I discovered it's not lotus but something that I always thought was lotus* well that's in here too whatever it is. It's a vageuly earthy or mushroomy/earthy smell that is underneath the sweet floral now.

    It's sunshine in a bottle. It's light, bright....joyful.

I definitely smell oranges....and maybe heliotrope...and something freakin' gorgeous smelling. This smells exactly as it sounds.

    On

Orangey and bright and lovely. This is honestly one of the better orange BPAl or TAL blends I've tried to date.

    30 minutes

It is long lasting, surprisingly for a citrussy blend. It doesn't stay quite as "fresh orange juice" as it did when wet, (I had this as 5 when wet) but it's still quite a joyous blend when dry. :P

I've been wanting to try Pulse Points for a long time but am I also proceeding with caution as I should not like this by past experiences with both civet and narcissus.

    On

Go figure, it's better than I thought it would be. It is a wee bit piercing and heady but nothing heinous imo. I think Queen and Van Van were actually more morhp-y on my skin than Pulse Points is currently. Narcissus was so piercing on my skin and this is actually more rounded than the sn was on me. There is no sweetness to this blend at all and it is as perfume'y as previous posts say. I do sort of smell that grandmotherly old time-y "smells like Grandma sofa's" smell. This really reminds me of lush's Ginger. I don't know why because Lush "Ginger" perfume has rose and ginger but it smells the same, it really does.

    30 minutes

It doesn't morph at all. It's still quite civet-y and strongly floral but there's definitely something to this blend that makes me sniff it more times than I'd care to admit.

It smells better on me and more soft and feminine (albeit still perfumey) after about 30 minutes. It's kinda nice at this point actually. Have I lost my marbles?

This is what I expected maybe "Peace" or "Snow White" to smell like. It's so unbelievabley beautiful I can't even describe. Olympia301 is spot on with her description.

    On

I smell camphor but before you wriggle your nose, it's so light so that only the vaopr of it, the part that makes it easier to breathe, is left. And then there's this misty sweetness mixed with lavender. It becomes an airy breath of minty lavender and a pale sweetness on my skin when first put on. Ethereal with a whisp of sweetness.

    30 minutes

I cannot believe how fantastic this is to me. It is so good I made my husband smell it because I couldn't freakin' believe it. I still can't. He liked it by the way.

The only negative thing I could possibly muster up is that it does not stay as strong for very long. But it is definitely not the most fading scent I've tried, probably somewhere in the middle average. I really do feel/think that this is the prettiest bpal scent I've tried to date.

    Throw:

    Yes a bit.

    Scent category:

    Herby/Aquatic ?

    Summary

As far as elementals I can't make up my mind if Anthelion is a watery blend or a very air-y blend or both. It smells like a pale pale blue color or something like that. It smells like you'd think it would from the description of what an Anthelion is.

People who like BPAL's "Aquarius", "Taurus" , "Blue Moon", "Peace", "Spirit" would like Anthelion I believe. Anthelion is in the same family tree as those on my skin. Anthelion has sort of something in common with all of them really; not as strong as "Blue Moon", not as light as "Peace", not as Lavender-y as "Aquarius" but similar, all of them are similar to my nose I don't know why. Some have some common ingredients here and there but mostly because they all evoke the same kind of vibe or feeling or energy. Ethereal, light, beautiful, crisp, lightly sweet, minty/herby aquatic. I like it better wet than dry.

You bet, right now I would like to where this all the time no matter what I'm doing or where I am, even when I'm getting ready to sleep. OMG.

I would heartily suggest any nose twins or people who may have similar skin chem as me to try Anthelion. It's incredible.

I so need to ground after using this, It definitely seems to help me get into a pretty "air-y", creative and spiritual space.

Plum blossom, peony, lotus root, Chinese musk and a hint of white ginger

Sheesh, this is great too. I smell plum blossom, peony and lotus root primarily.

Initially just a hint of green with a fresh background.

    On

I still smell plum blossom, peony and lotus root primarily.

The musk and ginger are present but not as much as the other three ingredients.

    30 minutes

The chinese musk is now more present and is kind of carrying the lightly sweet florals. A real fresh smelling blend.

    Throw:

    a bit

    Scent category:

    floral/herbal/animalistic

    Summary

I love peony and I've never smelled plum blossom but it's gorgeous. If you liek fresh florals or green/florals you will like this quite a bit.
