Origin - imp received in a swap Wet - orchid! The same note I love so much in Black Dahlia, Queen Mab and Psyche. Dry - it really doesn't change much as it dries. I see that stephanotis is similar to night-blooming jasmine, and I do get a very slight floral scent that is not orchid, it must be the stephanotis. I was expecting this to be sweeter, but I really don't get much vanilla-y scent. It's sweet, rich, full-bodied orchid, and absolutely lovely. It does get a bit powdery after a few hours however. I already have a few orchid scents, and since the vanilla doesn't come out for me, this really doesn't distinguish itself from them in any way. While I will keep the imp, I I will probably reach for Queen Mab or Black Dahlia before this. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Temple: Egyptian

Origins - received from yeahbutnobut Disclaimer - While I know that this is not for personal use, I couldn't resist trying a bit on my skin for review purposes. Wet - there is a somewhat astringent smell to this. It reminds me very much of Cairo, but darker, much darker. Dry - Yes this definitely contains Kyphi, which I adore, but there is something else here, something that seems powerful. It feels very wrong to be wearing this. As a scent, this is much darker than Cairo, but very different from Anubis. I will probably hold on to the imp as I love all things Egyptian. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best this rates a 4 (as a fragrance only).

What do bottles and labels look like?

Midway and Shill both had the same label design.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Actually I think Macha has outdone herself this time. I agree, it's the most beautiful label yet.

    Nine Mysteries

Origins - imp received in a swap Wet - mint, probably spearmint, and fruit. There seems to be a citrus fruit, possibly grapefruit, and something else, soemthing juicy. Dry - the mint goes away quickly, it's all fruit and lotus now. Whatever the fruit is, it's something I don't like. I am leaning towards apricot. There could be violets. Oh yeah, here come the violets now. Have I mentioned that I hate violets? Let's review, some of my least favorite notes are violets, apricots, grapefruit and lotus; this is everything I dislike in one bottle! I would never wear this, however, I got it for it's magical uses, not to wear as a perfume. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 1. Please note that I am only rating the scent and not the efficacy.

    The Apothecary

Origins - gift imp from the lab Wet - mmmy, tea and moss. Dry - this is very nice. Tea and moss and herbs and a touch of ginger. It's very light, but absolutely lovely. I am keeping the imp and will definitely consider getting a big bottle in the future. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Kali

Origns - imp received in a swap Preconceived Notions - Kali is one of those scents that I thought I had tried before, but everytime I read the description I couldn't understand how I could not love it. So I got another imp and gave it a(nother) try. Wet - chocolate, wine, honey, and a touch flowers. Dry - one of the things I love aboout Kali is that the "offeratory" notes disappear on drydown. Of course I would love it if they stuck around, but I think it's very cool, that first you make the offering and then you get to the actual fragrance. As soon as this dries the chocolate, honey, etc. float away, leaving a rich floral bouquet. I am not a big floral fan, and none of my favorite florals are in this, but I don't care, I love this anyway, There is still a bit of red wine left behind with the flowers, and this is rich, full-bodied wine, none of that grape smell here. The lotus is behaving itself as well, in fact, I can't even smell lotus, which is a good thing. This smells lush and juicy and absolutely gorgeous. This is the perfect summer scent and I am getting a big bottle immediately! The question is not whether this will end up in my top 10, but how high it will go. I <3 Kali! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.

    Honey

I love honey, so it was with eager anticipation that I tried out the Honey single note. Hmmmm, there seems to be more going on here than just honey! It seems darker and more wet, if that makes any sense, more like a tea than honey. Yes, dark golden honeyed tea, sweet, but not too sweet. I have noticed before that my skin seems to eat up Beth's honey notes and I wonder if this will be an exception. It is very light on my skin, I really have to sniff my wrist to smell it. Completely dry it IS that note in Honey Moon that makes me sneeze! It doesn't smell like honey at all anymore; it's smells greenish, like grass or something herbal. I am pretty sure this is my chemistry reacting to the honey, and not the way it's supposed to smell. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Roman Chamomile

This is the first time I have reviewed a single note, and I am not sure how to go about it. All I can say is, this is absolutely gorgeous! I know chamomile from chamomile tea of course, but this is stronger, bolder, darker and utterly beautiful. I wonder what blends contain chamomile and I see only two currently available scents, Rome and Libertine, neither of which I have tried. But ooh, Despair sounds lovely. I know it is discontinued, but it's going to the top of my want list. As for the Roman Chamomile itself, well, while I said I am only interested in single notes for testing purposes, if this were available as a 5ml, I would buy it in a heartbeat, it's that lovely. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.

    The High Priestess

Origins - - imp fresh from the lab. Wet - almonds followed by tobacco. There may have been a touch of anise too, but almost as soon as I noticed it, it was gone. Dry - perhaps the tobacco is penny royal? It's lightly minty now, but quite faint. I can't imagine that it's going to last out the hour. Strangely, it does. You know what this smells like? It's the same tobacco/penny royal combination that I smell in Helping Hand. This is not at all what I expected from High Priestess, but I sort of understand it. It's nice, but since I already have a bottle of Helping Hand, I won't be needing this too. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Seraglio

Origins - imp received in a swap Wet - almonds, with a bit of orange and clove. Dry - As it dries the sandalwood comes out. This is a beautiful sandalwood, one of the nicest I have tried. The almond calmed down and the rose is coming out now. Rose and sandalwood, always a good combination, along with spicy orange. Decent amount of throw too. This is spicy and sexy without being overtly sexual. Yep, I need a big bottle of this alright! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Port-Au-Prince

Origins - gift imp from the lab Preconceived Notions - I have sniffed this a couple of times in the past, but the almonds always scare me off. Wet - almonds and a bit of rum. Dry - wow, the bay really comes out as soon as it starts to dry, and the scent completely morphs. Next comes the clove and I am enveloped in warm spiciness. Yum! Sniffing the imp I never would have expected this. It's now primarily clove, with sassafras and bay rum in the background. I don't notice the almond at all anymore. I love Laudanum and this reminds me of that, but at the same time it's completely different. I just may end up with a bottle of this as well, I really like this. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Chimera

Wet - Cinnamon, more red-hot than brown. As it dries it becomes a lovely honey cinnamon, still red-hot but sweet. I get the occasional whiffs of copal but it doesn't linger around. I really don't notice the myrrh either. This is a lovely scent, and I will hang on to the imp, but it is too close to Sin to buy a big bottle of it. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Midway

Origin - bottle purchased at the Black Broom as part of the lunacy update, 6/23/05 Preconceived Notions - This sounds much too foody for me, but the rave reviews had me curious. And after all, I didn't expect to like Sugar Skull either. I really waffled over whether or not to buy a bottle. I wanted to try it, but probably wouldn't like it well enough to buy a big bottle of it. But the label was so darn cute that in the end I caved. In the bottle - sweet and doughy. Probably too foody for my tastes, but I still want to try it out. Wet - The minute it hits my skin, all I get is burnt plastic! Dry - A little bit of unidentified sweetness comes back, but mostly this is the same plastic note that I got in Egg Nog. Bye, bye Midway! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 1.

    Aureus

Origins - gift imp from the lab Wet - not at all what I was expecting. Cedar, frankincense, and possibly sandalwood and/or musk. This reminds me of Cathedral. Dry - I love cedar, but just like Cathedral and Kathmandu, the cedar has amped itself up on my skin to the exclusion of all else. I get very strong cedar with a tiny bit of frankincense. I am assuming there is amber in here, but if there is, I never smell it. This smells exactly like Cathedral on me, but I assume it is because in both cases the cedar overpowered the other notes. In both cases I get cedar, with a bit of frankincense, and not much else. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Wings of Azrael

Wet- floral with myrrh in the background. Mmmm….lovely. Dry - decent amount of throw, and very floral. While I am not all that familiar with Lily of the Valley, I can tell that violet is front and center here. The myrrh is much lighter now; too bad, I love myrrh. Oh no, the violet is taking over now. I a getting very tempted to go wash this off, as it is way too floral for me. This started out promising, but now it's off to the swap pile. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 2.

    The Star

Wet - coconut and citrus; surprisingly foody. My son swears he smells mint as well, but I don't notice it. But then again, I often don't get mint when others do. Dry - Lime is taking center stage now. It's a bitter lime, the oil from the peel, but the coconut is still in the background, sweetening it up. About a half-hour in, the lime has now faded and hey, my son was right, I do smell a trace of mint. While I love coconut, the coconut/lime combo is just too fruity for my tastes. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    The Moon

I fell in love with this when I sniffed it in the bottle when it first arrived. Wet - jasmine, maybe vanilla, maybe lavendar. This smells like a big round full moon to me, lush and white. Dry - This is quite complex. There's jasmine, a sweetness I associate with vanilla, and perhaps another light floral. It smells creamy; the most lucious creamy jasmine imaginable. Underneath it all is the tiniest trace something grounding. I do seem to love jasmine blends, and this is no exception, it is going on my big bottle list right now. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.
  19. wickedgoddess

    Succor

In the bottle - I can barely get any scent out of it at all. It smells like nothing, with the slightest trace of what is possibly lavendar. Olive oil, there is olive oil or something olivey in here too. Dry - The olive goes away immeditely, but what's in this? It smells milky like Milk Moon with a touch of something herbal. Lavender? Chamomille? I don't know what it is, but it's milky and absolutely beautiful. I love this and feel very calm and relaxed while wearing this. I will probably be adding this to my big bottle list. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.
  20. wickedgoddess

    Quietude

Wet - This starts out strongly lavendar, and as it dries lime comes out. Dry - it seems to be equal parts lime and lavendar. I am not sure about this, it's pleasant enough but nothing special. I prefer the Sominum blends and Succor to this. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Queen of Sheba

Wet - almonds and honey. The first time I tested this I got a bitter note that faded on dry-down, but on my second testing, I didn't notice it. Dry - a lovely honeyed almond scent. This is very pretty, but a little on the bland side. I wish some of those African and Middle Eastern spices would show up, because they would change this from pretty to extraordinary. After two tries, they still don't show up to the party. I will hang on to the imp, but probably won't be getting a big bottle any time soon. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Psyche

Wet - this smells similar to Queen Mab. The predominant note at first is orchid. Mmmm, I love orchid. I slather more on. Dry - this is so delicious and I absolutely love it, but there is such a slight difference between this and Queen Mab that I couldn't justify buying a bottle of both. Now the frankincense is coming out and this is just beautiful. Queen Mab's sandalwood gives it a slight edge, but the story is Eros and Psyche was my absolute favorite Greek myth. I really need to test these side by side, because I love them both. After testing them side by side, Queen Mab is a richer scent because of the osmanthus, but the frankincense in this gives Psyche a different dimension. They are both lovely, but I still think I like Queen Mab slightly better. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Harlot

Wet - rose. Just rose. Dry - as it dries, I get the tiniest dash of cinnamon, but I really have to sniff for it. And then it fades away in about an hour. Very light, very little throw, primarily rose. I tried it a second time, and the same thing happened, barely cinnamon, no lasting power. I was really looking forward to trying this, because it sounded so lovely, but it's not for me. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

    Mi-Go Brain Canister

When this was released it sounded way too fruity for my tastes, so I passed. But I was curious about trying it, so I sought out an imp. In the bottle yes it's fruity, but it's very pretty. Wet - It's really not that fruity. The prominent note on me seems to be the light musk, followed by some well blended fruits and perhaps a touch of white tea. Much nicer than I expected! Dry - it's pretty darn fruity now. The only fruit scents I like are apple, pear, orange, and the occasional blackberry, but none of those notes are here. This is a fruit salad! Still, it's not as obnoxiously fruity as I feared, the tea and musk tempers it well. I haven't noticed either the pepper or the ginger yet, and I wish I had, because a little spice would be divine. It's now about two hours in, and all I can smell is a light trace of musk. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, this rates a 3.
  25. wickedgoddess

    Lust

Preconceived notions - Myrrh and patchouli; two of my favorite notes! Red musk is good too, and while I don't love ylang ylang, I don't mind it. This should be great! Origin - imp received in a swap Wet - Patchouli! That's about all I smell at first. Dry - a sweetness comes out, ylang ylang I presume. I normally love patchouli and have never understood why people referred to it as "dirty hippie" until I smelled this. Even though I love, or at least like, all of the notes separately, this combination does not work on me. It does smell like "dirty hippie." The myrrh never even came out which is odd and also disappointing, because myrrh is one of my favorite notes on me. Off to the swap pile. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 2.
