Wet - Pear and lily. I'm not much for lily, but this is a beautiful blend. Dry - It's still primarily pear and lily, but I smell something else, something almost musty (as opposed to musky) under the surface. And then, within an hour or so, it's all gone. Everything, the musty and the pear. I was really hoping to love this blend, and wet, it certainly had it's potential. I just don't think it's a good match for my chemistry. I am truly disappointed, as I love pear, and was hoping this would be a good match for me. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3 .

Wet - if this is ylang ylang, it's the loveliest ylang ylang ever. I like ylang ylang, but it tends to go either too sweet or dusty on me. This is rich and scrumptious. Whatever else that's in here with it is propping it up, giving it depth. Dry - no real change once it dries down. My husband, who is usually pretty oblivious to what I am wearing, did come and ask me what I was wearing, but not because he liked it, but because he thought it smelled like nail polish remover. So much for seduction! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Wet - Oh! At first I get vanilla and balsam and I am in heaven. Dry - Almost as soon as it touches my skin the cedar starts coming out. My skin amps up cedar, so I am scared it will chase away the vanilla and balsam. The cedar is overwhelmingly strong for a few minutes and then it steps aside to share the stage with the vanilla and balsam. It's still there but it's well behaved. This is the rich, delicious vanilla of Snake Oil, and mixed with balsam it's incredible! It's a bit on the masculine side, but not so much so that I wouldn't wear it myself. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

Preconceived Notions - The forum reviews speak of cinnamon and clove and ginger and sandalwood, and make this sound amazing! I was so happy when I got the opportunity to try some. Wet - Faint cinnamon and a sour smell. I am probably wrong because no one else has mentioned it in their reviews, but to me it smells like the vetiver/dragon's blood combination that turned my stomach in Bloodlust. Dry - It sweetens up as it dries, but it still smells like Bloodlust lite to me. I never get those wonderful notes everyone else talks about. There is faint cinnamon, faint dragon's blood and the bad smell. After an hour or two the bad smell lightens up, and I can smell clove now, but it's very faint. I guess Mars isn't for me. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 2.

Yeah, if Beth needs any help, I'd be happy to help out. I'm usually up til at least 1 or 2 a.m. anyway

Wet - pine or fir and something sweet. Dry - The pine fades leaving a sweet yellow scent behind. I smell lemon but I am not sure what else, possibly ginger or even vanilla. I do know I am not getting any cinnamon here at all. This blend really frustrates me, because I am having a very difficult time figuring out what is in it. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Wet - rose and something unintentifiable. Dry - there's rose that's nice on me, and there's rose that goes powdery, which is what happened with Rose Red. This, unfortunately is the powdery kind. I'm just about to write this off completely, when I get a lovely wood note. White sandalwood, or maybe rosewood. However it's not enough to save it from the powdery rose. I had high hopes for this, but it's off to the swap pile I fear. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 2.

Warm cinnamon, husky clove and white pepper. Origins - I bought what I think was the last bottle of the reformulated Three Witches from Black Broom for a friend of mine, and in return, she gifted me with a decant. Wet - a spicy blend of cinnamon and clove. Ooh yes, I smell the pepper too! Dry - The cinnamon is the red hots kind, but the clove and pepper are equally strong. There really isn't much change from wet to dry on me. This is quite strong, and appears to have quite a bit of throw. I love spicy blends and like this quite a bit, but I there are other similiarly spicy blends I like even more, like Shub and Sin. I will hang on to the imp, but I am not heartbroken that this was discontinued. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best this rates a 4.

Wet - boozy. Mmm, I love my boozy scents. Dry - as it dries I get an intoxicating mix of booze, musk, tobacco and a waxy smell of lipstick. Yeah, this smells like a night in the clubs all right, and it's really delicious. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long at all. I like this an awful lot, but I don't love it, which is good, because I would hate to fall in love with this scent. I think it's the waxy note, which reminds me of those big wax lips, that is putting me off. I'm definitely keeping the imp though, and saving it for nights when I need a litle something special. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Preconceived Notions - I received this as a frimp from the lab, but the imp had shattered and made the whole box smell of Fire of Love. It smelled so delicious it drove me crazy, so I had to swap for another imp, just to try some out. So I already know it smells wonderful on a box, but I have no idea how it's going to smell on me. Wet - Patchouli! There's also some musk or maybe civet in here. Dry - still musky, with some cedar and sandalwood. Mmm, now I smell something spicy! Black pepper and perhap ginger come out and layer over the wood and musk. Wow! This is really sexy and I adore it. Of course I also adore Flame of Desire and Red Devil, and I really don't need three oils that all basically serve the same purpose. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

I spent way too much on a tarted imp of Despair, but after falling in love with the Roman Chamomile SN, I was dying to try this. Wet - Roman Chamomile! Dry - Once this starts to dry, the sandalwood and lavendar start to come out, and I know true despair, because this was discontinued. This is mostly chamomile and wood initially, the lavendar is there but stays well in the background. So much in the background that it's already gone. I now get a bit of ylang ylang and a gorgeous floral I don't recongnize. Rose Otto, is that you? It's very woody now, the chamomile has dissipated. This is so lovely, and I would LOVE a big bottle of this. The only down note is the ylang ylang, which is a bit powdery, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of this. It fades away eventually, leaving a note of sandalwood that lingers for hours. Truly a beautiful scent. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

Wet - wow, in the bottle and on, at first I just get sweet. Teeth-achingly sweet. I get buttercream and a bit of almond. Dry - omg, honey mead is as delicious as it sounds! On dry-down, it gets less sweet, and the honey mead and rum come out to play. Yum! This is absolutely delicious but it's a bit too sweet for even me, who loves Sugar Skull and Elegba. Still, I will definitely hang on to the imp, because this is yummy. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Origins - I got a frimp of this in both of my recent lab orders. Thinking the lab was trying to tell me something, I decided to move it to the top of my review pile. Wet - very herbal: pine, eucalyptus, mint, possibly rosemary, and something sweet. Dry - as it dries it becomes citrusy, probably lemon. The eucylyptus fades and it is a sweet lemony pine blend, with a touch of mint. Nice enough, but not really for me. However my son, age 8, loves this, and has claimed my imp for his own. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 2 . (although I need to note that my son said I can't possibly give this a rating lower than a 4.)

Wet - rich, golden honey. Ahhh, this is delicious! Dry - Honey is still the primary note, with musk right behind it. The ylang ylang is very subtle, which is good because it can be too sweet on me. About an hour later the musk starts to go funky on me. Argh, I was worried about that. Most musks work on me, but some, notably black musk, don't. This was beautiful right up until it went all funky. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Wet - The beautiful, warm scent of apples and amber. If the amber doesn't go all funky on dry-down, I will love this. Dry - oh wow! I have had so much problems with amber, even though I love it, it usually hates me. However I knew there was at least one amber that worked on me, and I think this is it! The apple and amber blend together seemlessly, becoming a warm, golden scent. I love this! This is a lovelier apple note to me than the one in The Hesperides. As it dries I get a twinge of herbs, not enough to identify, just enough to add a little presence to the background. This smells like an apple orchard in the beginning of fall. This is going on my potential big bottle list. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

Origins - This was already on my wish list, but the lab surprised me by sending this as a gift imp. I love when they do that! Wet - very floral; primarily gardenia. Dry - As it dries, jasmine and vanilla join the gardenia. I don't notice the tea rose at all though. This is a lovely floral scent, reminiscent of The Moon, but not as complex. Since I plan on ordering a bottle of The Moon the first chance I get, I don't need this as well, but it is very nice. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Origins - gift imp from the lab Preconceived Notions - Sandalwood, anise and cherry blossom? This gift imp from the lab just jumped to the top of my review pile. Wet - a soft waft of cherry blossom. Dry - The cherry blossom fades quickly, while the sandalwood and anise bloom. I am one of those weird people who just adores anise, and I think this is fabulous. The anise isn't too strong, it's well-balanced by the sandalwood. It's a very light scent; there doesn't seem to be much throw at all. If this had a bit more throw it would be a definite big bottle purchase. As it is, I still would consider it down the road. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

I bought this unsniffed for it's voodoo use, but the reviews made it sound wonderful. Wet - apple pie! Dry - Oh. My. God. This is wonderful stuff! At first I get cinnamon and a fruit, which is probably apple. There also might be some fig in this, but I am not sure. After awhile the honey comes out; rich, golden honey, much nicer than either the Honey SN or Honey Moon. This smells like Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Tea, with a big dollop of honey. I was hoping this would smell good enough to wear often, because I really need to overcome obstacles and create opportunities right now. This smells good enough to wear all the time. Not only am I thrilled I ordered a big bottle, but I think this is going to end up on my top ten. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.

Wet - whereas Queen of Spades smells purplish, this smells red. In the bottle and first on, it's all juicy, red fruit, with a tiny bit of dirt. Dry - the overwhelming fruitiness has calmed down a bit, but it's still the primary note. The main scent seems to be cherry, which I know isn't in here; perhaps that's the red currant? I got a bit of myrrh when it first dried-down, but now, nothing. No myrrh, no amber, no incense, no rose and no vanilla. Even the trace of earth I got in the beginning has gone away. I will try this a second time, but if fruit is all I get, it will be off to the swap pile. Sigh, and I had such high hopes for this one. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 2.

Origin - imp fresh from the lab Wet - rum and coconut. Dry - as it dries it stays true, rum and coconut. It's sweet and delicious and I need a big bottle of this. I don't really notice the tobacoo in this. It fades rather quickly, after about an hour it's still there, but very faint, I really have to sniff my wrist to smell it. If you are a coconut lover like I am, this is the ultimate coconut scent. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.

Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect
wickedgoddess replied to harlequin's topic in Limited Editions
Chaos Theory 2: CCXCIX (299) In the bottle - a very light, slightly boozy scent. Wet - nothing! As soon as it touches my skin, all scent disappears. I had a similiar thing happen with Snow White, so I am not panicing yet. Dry - for the first 10 to 15 minutes I get nothing, and then suddenly, I am enveloped in scent. This is a very light, white floral, I am thinking gardenia and something aquatic or maybe even ozone. It's now morphing into an ozone scent, but it's getting fuller. There is something fruity that is giving this a roundness, but I am leaning towards it being apple blossom as opposed to an actual fruit. About a half hour in and it's still morphing slightly. It's primarily ozone and apple blossom, but there is something else coming out now, is that tonka? I'm also starting to notice the slightly boozy scent I get in the bottle, but I am not sure. I so wanted this to be a boozy blend I may be imagining things, but there may be a tiny bit of rum in this to give it spice. This is the type of the scent where the throw smells much richer than the scent on my wrist; I have experienced that once or twice before, but I can't remember with which scents. There is a moderate amount of throw on this, and it lasts about 2 - 3 hours, which is a decent amount of time on me. I only ordered one Chaos Theory, because I wanted the lab to send the one that was right for me, but secretly I feared that it would be all violets and vetiver, in other words, something I coudn't wear. This isn't the perfect scent for me, but I don't hate it either. It's unique and it doesn't contain anything I dislike. While I don't love it, I am fascinated with it, and also by the exclusivity of being the only one who has it. And I must admit, that it's starting to really grow on me, even though it's neither dark nor spicy. It's a keeper! Edit - two months have passed and I revisited this and got something very different! Maybe it just need to sit awhile. Now I get booze, definitely rum, possibly brandy as well, alongside apple. Not apple blossom, sweet red apples. It reminds me of brandied pears, but it's definitely apple. No floral, no ozone, just booze and apples. Those are two notes I love and I absolutely adore this! Revising my 4 to a 5. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5. -
Origins - imp received in a swap Preconceived Notions - I am completely in love with New Orleans the city, but I'm not much of a lemon fan, so it took me quite a while to actually get around to try this. Wet - lemon is the pedominent note here, overwhelming the rest. I can tell there is something else in here, but can't quite get a sniff of it. Dry - Still very lemony, but I can smell jasmine and honeysuckle. It smells languorish, like a humid summer night. After awhile the jasmine comes on strong, but it's the spicy jasmine of The Moon, that I love so much. This is so much nicer than I expected. Because I am already getting a bottle of The Moon, I don't think I need this too, but it is very evocative, and a fantastic summer scent. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Orchid is a note I love, and I have been trying all of the BPAL orchid scents. The problem is that I think Orchid amps up on my skin, so they all end up smelling pretty much the same. I ended up retesting this with this on one arm and Queen Mab on the other, so that I could contrast and compare. Phantom Queen is Queen Mab's younger sibling. Queen Mab is woody, spicy, but a little on the thin side. Phantom Queen is lush. There is a fertility to The Phantom Queen that is missing in Queen Mab. The apple blossom blends seamlessly with the black orchid to produce a rich fruity floral scent that is similiar to Queen Mab and yet achingly unique. I love them both and can see myself with big bottles of both of them, but I think I like The Phantom Queen just a wee bit more. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

Origins - gift imp from the lab Preconceived Notions - I am not wild about any of the notes listed in the reviews, pine, juniper and lemon, but I wanted to try it out of curiousity. Wet - green and fresh. It smells like being outside in a grove of trees. Dry - I smell juniper in here and then the citrus starts to come out. The juniper is nearly all gone now, and I get a sweet citrus. It think it's lemon, but it's a much sweeter lemon note than the one in New Orleans. It smells almost like lemon meringue pie. It's a very soft scent, not a lot of throw and it doesn't last very long either. Strangely, even though I am not a big fan of any of these notes separately, I really like this one! It's the perfect mix of fresh and sweet, and I would consider a bottle of this if it were to be released. Another reminder to not rule out scents based on notes alone. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 3.

Origins - gift imp from the lab Wet - both in the bottle and wet on skin, I can barely get any scent from this at all. Dry - as soon as this begins to dry, it becomes the most beautiful sandalwood scent ever. There's a touch of spice in here too, either nutmeg or clove. There seems to be some creaminess here too, and I wonder if there is a touch of vanilla. My only complaint is that this is a very light scent; it's barely there. Still I am pretty sure this is going to be a big bottle purchase, because it is absolutely beautiful. I am so glad I was gifted this, because based on the minimal description, I probably wouldn't have sought this out on my own. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.
