  1. In the bottle - Sweet smooth red musk

Wet on me - A kind of tobacco sort of note backed by the leather and smoothed over by the musk

Dry on me - Soft, smooth red musk with just a hint of cream in the background :wub2:

Overall - Gorgeous, but then I do love me some red musk

  2. In the bottle - Biscuity notes and sweet fruity honey

Wet on me - Again biscuity and fruity, the fruit taking on a soft, almost herbal aspect

Dry on me - A fresh green fruity scent, more springlike than I expected

Overall - A fresh, bright refreshing scent, tart but not at all harsh

  3. In the bottle - Dark bitter vetiver topped with dark musk

Wet on me - Dark, smoky and bitter, this is really unpleasant

Dry on me - Fortunately this faded quite quickly

Overall - This really wasn't for me

  4. In the bottle - Kind of old spice soap

Wet on me - Again with the soap, a bit of fir coming out against it now

Dry on me - Soap, remarkably long lasting soap, but still soap

Overall - Really not for me

  5. In the bottle - Chocolate and green peppers

Wet on me - The smokiness from the bacon is really strong and oily with the chocolate in the background

Dry on me - The bacon scent does settle down eventually leaving a sort of smoked chocolate sort of scent

Overall - Apparently I amp bacon to high heaven (it lasts as well). There were times when the combination of smoke and grease was actually quite nauseating

  6. In the bottle - Almonds with a slightly medicinal backdrop

Wet on me - A smoother, creamy almond comes through overlaying a cool green note that I can't place

Dry on me - A sweet creamy vanilla with a woody backdrop and a sprinkling of something salty

Overall - A pretty, grown up scent with sweetness and sophistication

  7. In the bottle - Soft gentle coconut

Wet on me - A warm rush of coconut with a touch of something watery beneath

Dry on me - Like flakes of desiccated coconut have been dropped into a melting vanilla scented candle

Overall - Whilst I was intrigued by the hazelnut and anise all I got from this was coconut and vanilla. That's still yummy, but not what I was expecting

  8. In the bottle - The first hit is a creamy mint then with the lime in the background

Wet on me - An oddly powdery mint, like powdered toothpaste

Dry on me - Mostly that same powdered peppermint scent, neither the chocolate or the lime make much of an impact

Overall - I would have liked more lime and chocolate, but the mint just dominates

  9. In the bottle - Oooooh kind of juicy jelly with a sprinkling of cocoa

Wet on me - An almost green fig note comes out against juicy tamarind with again just a touch of cocoa

Dry on me - The fruit mingles and becomes candied like wine gums

Overall - It's yummy, even with the candyness it's not so in your face sweet as to be too much, it still smells like a perfume, if you see what I mean

  10. In the bottle - Something earthy and bitter that I would have said was vetiver even though it's not on the list of notes and a touch of citrus

Wet on me - The ginger starts to come through but the main note is still that dark murky bitter one

Dry on me - Dry, earthy, bitter and, yes, burning scents, I think it must be mainly the oakmoss

Overall - It seems all the notes I wanted just disappeared and I the ones I didn't take centre stage

  11. Bread, lightly buttered, with weak tea, cream, and a lump of white sugar.

In the bottle - Warm sweet tea with an almost aniseed-y flavour

Wet on me - Sugar crystals and sweet dark tea and a touch of toast

Dry on me - Soft dry tea with a hint of anise

Overall - Pretty and light, but not really me

  12. In the bottle - Thick dark pine and juniper, almost medicinal

Wet on me - Warm dry woods with sharp spicy juniper

Dry on me - Deep, slightly harsh pine, with a sticky juniper smeared on it

Overall - I don't dislike it, but it's not really me

  13. In the bottle - Sweet musky honey

Wet on me - Warm, clean honey with a slightly animalistic musk undercurrent and the nearest hint of citrus

Dry on me - Weird, sweet and milky, but also animalistic

Overall - This just kept kicking back an animalistic note that was just too much for me

  14. In the bottle - Sweet waxy wood with a sprinkling of ginger

Wet on me - The pine really comes out, but it's as if it's coated in a sticky layer of sweet spicy goodness

Dry on me - Mostly pine with hints of sweet sugary things

Overall - I wasn't so keen once the pine started to dominate

  15. In the bottle - Ooooh minty, this smells just like toothpaste

Wet on me - Still minty, but with a slightly earthy undertone

Dry on me - A clean, green scent with touches of musk

Overall - The mint is a little alarming at first, but it settles into a nice, dry, green scent

  16. In the bottle - Definitely chocolate and a crumbly gingerbread in the background

Wet on me - The ginger heats up into an explosion of spice against very dark bitter chocolate

Dry on me - There's a point where this resembles a chilli laced hot chocolate, but the heat calms down and the chocolate sweetens and eventually it becomes a lovely warm, dry cocoa scent

    Overall - Very nommy

  17. In the bottle - A slightly lemony ginger with a creamy undertone

Wet on me - A dry woody note from the spices with all that sweetness underneath

Dry on me - Dry warm spices with that softly creamy slightly musky undertone

Overall - It's very yummy, but I can't help thinking that it could do with more of a kick

  18. I think I've lost my marbles. According to my notes when I placed a Yule order back in November 2010 I ordered a bottle of Mother Ginger, I've got the notes I made on testing it so I clearly received the scent, but I can't find it anywhere on the bpal.org/search or going through the review section. I apologise if I'm being amazingly dense, but can any body point me in the right direction?

    Here you go - link

Thank you, I knew I was just being slow

  20. In the bottle - Banana and some form of high pitched floral

Wet on me - Still a sweet banana but with a lot of leaves and something musky

Dry on me - A soft honey musk

Overall - The dry down is nice enough, but as a whole it doesn't grab me

  21. In the bottle - A slightly sharp grapefruit candy

Wet on me - The grapefruit softens into a melange of fruit flavoured boiled sweets

Dry on me - A sweet, fruity concotion

Overall - It's nice enough but it doesn't really grab me
