At first, very coffee. After an hour or two, the "Irishness" of the coffee emerges, with cream and alcohol (that buttery rum note) tinges. About an hour after that, I can smell a touch of wood, but only a touch, in the vanilla and soft chocolate cream goodness. I lovelovelove this, but it makes me crave Bailey's/Ryan's Cream something awful. I wish I'd gotten two bottles of this.

Starts with the basenote of Spooky--I imagine that's the cream. Develops into a powdery vanilla. I imagine the comparisons to formula and breast milk are correct, but I wouldn't recognize those scents if they bit me. It goes through a coconut phase briefly, as well as a very buttery phase. I never noticed the honey expressly. It's rich and lovely and very me (despite it seeming like a mother-scent, which I emphatically am not) in almost every phase, but it fades around hour 3. I have to say this is veryvery close to becoming a signature scent for me--and of course it's a Moon! Good thing I got two bottles. Oh, oh! I just got the exact comparison I'm looking for. It's like slightly sweetened raw milk--the milk you get straight from the farmer, that hasn't been homogenized and still has a hint of personality from the cow. It tastes stronger in the summer than in the winter due to what the cows have been eating. Side story: my mother lived on a farm when she was young. The cows got into the wild garlic or chives or something like that, and she thought the milk was disgusting and never drank milk again. In Milk Moon's case, imagine the cows got into buttered rum and coconut. On the comparison to other scents tip: in different phases, similar to Chaste Moon, Dana O'Shee (minus the overwhelming sweet stage that I dislike about Dana), Spooky, and Grog/Hellcat. ETA: Today I put this on straight out of the shower, and totally got the sour milk smell that a lot of others experienced. I endured it, though, and I think Milk Moon settled down to its usual gorgeousness, so I'm not in any way giving up on it--but I may be more careful about applying it to shower-heated skin.

Applied only a light dab here. Beautiful soft apricot, right from the start. I'm loving it already. Very well balanced between the distilled flesh of a dried apricot and the very touch of the fully ripe fruit. Too ripe probably would've done it in for me. The musk tempers the bite of the fruit well. Unlike others who find this a young scent, this one (as long as it's applied in moderation) speaks more of a sophisticate to me. It bespeaks strength, but fun playfulness, too. On me it gets a bit stronger/more pointed, believe it or not, as it dries. Then the soft blossom emerges. Lovely. Oh, and the musk comes out at the tail end. Beautiful. This is so beautiful. Work safe, too.

So, evidently sage or sweet pea is the note that ends up vaguely like latex balloons on me, because I've got the tinge of that here. Otherwise, it's very dry herbs with a layer of floral underneath. I have to say, though, that it started out as ylang ylang on me, so my skin may be just twisting this one something awful. This may also be due to the fact that I was dealing with a VERY full imp and managed to douse myself pretty well in it--so I may be reacting to the strength as much as anything. There is a smoky, light, green, calming air to it--but then the note I correlate with latex kills its topnote for me. No tonka or musk for me, ever, though I will admit I washed it off after an hour. Too bad.

Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk. Starts strong on the dragon's blood and vetiver. Moves into floral, then settles into a nice dragon's blood vanilla that's got a darker undercurrent than Dragon's Milk. Unfortunately, it's fading fast on me today.

Smells like cheap cola at first, then a high alcohol scent. Then mint peeks through, going turn-of-the-century medicinal on me. It settles down to a soft spice not unlike Black Phoenix on me.

Ooh. Dark rosy start. I like that initial whiff. It smells very like the essence of rose-infused rosary I got at the Vatican when I visited. Once it's been dry awhile, the roses fade to the background and the leather comes out in the waft.

Flame-kissed, warm, smooth, and highly protective. Dragon’s blood, leather and a hint of smoke. Very bright, sweet dragon's blood start. Within minutes, though, I could smell the darker kick of leather, with the smoke on the last second of the inhale. The leather and smoke combination is perfect for this scent--conceptually it's perfect, at least. I'm not sure I'd wear it to work, though. Although, I find that since the waft is mostly dragon's blood, it's probably not too edgy for most of my cohorts here. It's the direct sniff that picks up on the leather/smoke combo, for the most part. Once it's hours old, though, the leather/smoke emerges in the waft.

Creamy vanilla honey (although that may be orchid and I just don't know the note). The creaminess reminds me of Chaste Moon. As it dries, it goes powdery at points (not baby powder, but light and distant) on me, and ever-so-slightly more floral (unfortunate, since I'm not the floral type). I do like it, very much, though. Softens to a sweet, sweet, light springy vanilla, which alternates with the floral scent.

Very glittery, high in the nose at first. It settles with the entrance of the musk, though, becoming reminiscent of the fougeres. It's kind of a peaceful, soothing men's sitting room fragrance. Apricot/citrus vie for attention--I'm never sure which I'm smelling here. Mostly, though, I get the white musk. Very light, but has a good waft.

Thanks to the lovely person who included this as an extra in a swap through livejournal. Light, pretty, plummy. Very springy, very high in the nose. Fresh and clean. Hyper-floral, which is not really me, but may serve me well for workdays I need a pickup for. Kind of reminds me of the crispness from The Hesperides.

Very raw, fresh leather at first. Not an old jacket. Eventually, though, it softens into a worn leather, kind of peppered with the scent from where sueded leather gets worn down by human oils, especially near the neck of bomber jackets. One of the female students in the office just went: "somebody in here smells really good!" Heh. It's really straightforward, and doesn't change much throughout its lifetime. Kind of cowboy-ish, or fetish-y, and certainly has a masculine edge.
-
Very plain dragon's blood at first. (helped along by a tight imp cap, which made my entire hands Blood-y!) Softens nicely, though, eventually. I get the hint of myrrh there, at least.
-
Fresh, clean green smell. Very like the milk inside dandelions when you break their stems. This doesn't feel like a floral to me: it's too clean and fresh and outside-y smelling. It's a very bright, strong scent, and doesn't change much at all over its lifetime.

Smells like civet to me, but I may be confusing that with pine. Definitely dark green and animalistic.
-
Strong earth and sharp black pepper. Reminds me of Umbra, which I just tried. Musty, dark places. Vetivert, perhaps? Goes pine-y after awhile. Cedar? Something on top that's not bad. Very masculine scent, though. Thyme or bay as it dries.
-
Light, fresh. Very springy. Almost soapy as it dries. Smells like laundry sheets, sort of. I could see myself wearing this on bright spring/summer days: it's safe, if not particularly exciting. Long-lasting, compared to others. A little more permeating/strong.
-
Dark, masculine, earthy. On a guy, I could see it, but I don't know any guys like this. Strong, strong, but in a constructive fashion. Very male, very definitive. Dries to woody and pleasant, in control.
-
The oakmoss is kind of interesting. Too much civet as it dries: the juniper berry is cool, though.
-
Horrifically ylang-ylang wet. So so strong that I can't get over the syrupy floral scent. Too bad: I'd love to love this one.
-
Hot, deep, and musky. I can smell the civet, though, which makes me not like it. Too animalistic for me, methinks.
-
Bit of a spill, so didn't get a good sample. Very rosey, so probably not me. A hint of the odd carnation? smell, but also something I like, which I imagine is the myrrh.
-
Bright, bright. A high smell in the nose with something vaguely irritating. Then the sage pops and smells like Hot Topic. Ick. Not me.
-
Definitely floral--reminds me a bit of my dad's girlfriend's preferred perfume tones. Beautiful, but may be too floral/perfume-y for me. There's a commercial scent this is JUST LIKE, but I can't remember what it is and it's driving me batty. Hmm.

Weird peppermint-vanilla-butterscotch combo. Like a minty Grog, at first. There's something lingering underneath, though, that haunts. It's gorgeous.
