Color me impressed, y'all. This stuff is awesome. So, I had a paper to write for school, on an incredibly esoteric topic, and I'd been putting it off all week. It's due...well, in 4 hours actually. I'd been having an incredibly tough time getting myself to do the damn thing, and I finally had to get it done tonight (or last night, I guess). I am a terrible procrastinator, so I wanted to try to arm myself against goofing off when I should be writing. The only semi-relevant TAL oil I have is an imp of Charisma, and I figured I'd give a shot. Anointed my chakra points, and visualized my best aspects amplified (my ability to think quick, improvise when my knowledge is lacking, etc.) and my worst downplayed (procrastination, procrastination, procrastination) and then visualized myself getting my paper done by 5 AM this morning on the dot, time enough to get a bit of rest before class. Seriously, it was amazing. Instead of sitting, staring blankly at my computer like I usually do when I'm trying to speed-write a paper, I was kicking ass and mowing through it. I got it written, and when I looked up to see what time it was when I was done? 5 AM exactly. Buy this now, seriously.

For me, Blood Pearl is apparently totally different depending on my hormones. The first time I wore this, about a month ago, it smelled straight up like cheap coconut suntan lotion mixed with baby powder. I was not impressed. So on a whim I gave it a second chance tonight, and it's completely different and actually kind of awesome. The orris is very upfront this time around, floral but not cloying, with the coconut playing a slightly sweet second fiddle. Lurking somewhere underneath is the musk, I think, making the whole blend a little deeper and sexier. It definitely makes me think of warm tropical nights. So one month ago I'd give it a 1 of out 5, but tonight I'd give it a 4 out of 5. Weird.

Ok, here goes my first ever review... In the bottle: dried rose petals. In high school, my older sister used to dry her roses from corsages and whatnot and keep them hanging in her room. This is an exact reproduction of their scent. Wet on my arm: whoa, moss. Lots and lots of moss, with a hint of dusty earth and rose underneath. Seriously, the moss is almost overpowering on me. Dry: the rose finally picks up, and the moss takes a backseat. The soil still has a sort of a dusty, musty thing happening. It smells like a dying rose in ancient soil. Ultimately, it's a very wistful scent. It makes me think of an abandoned, overgrown rose garden in the faded light of autumn, when the flowers are dropping their petals. Honestly, I almost find it a little creepy - "haunting" is a good word for this scent. It's incredibly evocative, and smells exactly like the description, but I'd definitely have to be in a certain mood to wear it.
