i really want to slather this stuff... everywhere! it smells like lemonhead candies on me for about 15mins....which isnt bad, i really like those but the dry down is to die for. the notes are so well balanced it hard for me to pick them all out. certainly there is a hint of sweet coconut as well opium... everything else is hard to pick out. it reminds me of belle epoque, which is one of my favorites. if i use up my imp i will need a 5ml for sure

the scent was lovely but very masculine on me. it was deep and dark with an edge. so i thought, "hey i'll try it on the boy" i put it on him.... he's all vanilla creme and tea with a spot of lemon, which would be great if he wanted to smell sweet, but unfortunately he does not. i say its a bit backwards from what we were wanting lol.

what shelldoo said! it is very pumpkiny on me and it does have a certain edge that i love in shub, perhaps it is cinnamon and ginger? im very please with this scent, my only halloween scent this year. it is cool yet it has the warmness of a distant bonfire (not bonfire smell) i'm going to be wearing this the rest of fall

soil. fresh moist soil. and for me thats not a good thing and as it develops i get a bit of berry, but still the dirt smell is there luckily after a WHILE the dirt goes away and this become a lovely blend. not too sweet, but it has a regal feel. i dont smell any amber. its mostly vanilla and berry.

divine rum and coconut!! smells like a new needed bottle to me this is pretty strong going on, and i like it that way this is certainly the right scent to slather and exactly what i would imagine an offering to elegba would be. tropical... and now developing some brown sugar. i find it to be a lot less sweet than grog. it doesnt have that butterscotch candy smell. i highly recommended it if you like rum and coconut eta: because nouns are important

this is probably what the market would smell like its got the spice you'd expect and an outstanding wood which im guessing is sandalwood. so far i can pick anything else out, but it smells like an exotic spice store... depending on how it develops im not sure i want to smell *like* it. though the scent is very pretty as it goes on.. it is mellowing out a bit from the spice store scent to something i enjoy. its softer and closer to the skin.. the up your nose punch is gone which is a good thing in my book

luckily this isnt very rosey on my which makes me quite happy it smells so familiar-- grounded(not quite earthy) and maybe some sort of church incense. a bit of sandlewood and something else a bit sweet which i am guessing is the catus flower i must note that i do like vetiver pretty well, though not every blend. this smells almost like the sweet religious sister of blood kiss this is a beautiful blend the imp is staying in the box

almond for about 3 seconds then lots of cinnamon. i think i like this better than chimera, it may go on my list for a nice fall/winter scent its not a red cinnamon.. but an almost subtle sprinkling of it on warm apple cider (though it doesnt small like apples) i definately dig this cinnamon scent

i got this orginally because she used the name Astarte in the description i was not a big fan of gingerbread poppet but i LOVE this like others have said before. fresh ginger. the sexiest thing ever the resins and herbs give it a feel that i have only found before with the orisha oils. something sacred. this is beautiful thank you BETH! Edit: 12ish years later...original bottle, original release. So, time changes chemistry a bit, possibly from the bottle aging, possibly from me. This review is of my original bottle. I decided to wear this today because I wanted something warm and comforting on a damp dark day. It started off surprisingly lemony, but very pleasant. Not what I was intending to wear but it was still nice wet stage. Then it got a little spicy in the initial dry down, closer to what I remember. I've had it on for about an hour and a half now and all the nice spicy/lemony smells are fading and leaving a very faint plasticy smell when I put my nose up to my wrist. Serious sad face moment. It's not quite as intense of a plastic note as... lets say, Snake oil, but it's still there in the background. I guess I need to pass this one along.

smells exactly like spiced apples. i dont like apples but i am sticking through it, there are a lot of things i need to get done tonight! the cinnamon is very strong. i dont know if its my allergies that are making my eyes water or the cinnamon. it smells good. i just dont like apples hopefully i will get more of a floral smell soon. im off to my homework!!!

oh my goddess i love this!!! its a bit woody, and very resiny. i wouldnt mind smelling like this all the time! i dont get any green, floral, soap or cherry. just dark incensy goodness... i may need more. quickly!

I do believe this is it. my favorite BPAL of all time beautiful! beautiful! suble but long lasting ambers with a slightly (very slight) under tone i can smell both egyptian amber and the amber used in haunted. I want to roll in it. its very clean and proper but sensual and expressive.
-
i cant believe it i dont like this. i had really high hopes. wore it for about 5 minutes but the smell made me feel ill so i washed it off right away. i want to give it another chance but it just isnt for me. it smelled dry and sweet in the worst possible way

i was sure i had reviewed this... but i guess not. this is my new every day scent. i love it. out of the bottle it is fresh and delicate. on it is musky and sweet. beautiful spring scent. the mango peaks through in the beginning. eventually it fades out and is replaced with the amber and a lightest whiff of what i guess to be sage. i bought two bottles of this already but i am afraid i need more! i'm sad that is is being discontinued but i am glad beth gave us generous notice
