The 2006 version: This smells like cherry pipe tobacco. There is a sweet edge to it like some of the foody scents had (Gluttony comes to mind as well as the irish coffee in Miskatonic University.) I ~love~ this scent. This is one of the very few (like 2) BPAL leather scents that I don't think smells too masculine on me. The 2005 version: This version is a bit more manly. It reminds me of the well-dressed man at church who sits halfway back and is always friendly. He's not the one who bathes in his cologne but always smells nice. It's leather and the shaved wood smell of a cabinet-maker's shop. There's also a hint of something sweet in the background but it's not strong enough (and my nose not developed enough) for me to figure out just what the sweet is. The scent is clinging to my skin, making me all but keep my wrist to my nose so that I can smell it. It's such a comforting smell. I think this will do great in the oil warmer as well as being a comfort scent on the skin.

I got this as a sniffie from a decant circle I was a part of. A little bit of the oil got on my fingertips when I opened the bottle so the test wear was on. Unfortunately, I -really- don't care for cinnamon. This one smells heavily of cinnamon. The kind of cinnamon that you get from eating a mouthful of red-hots all at one time. Not my style.

Yeah. I knew I'd like this one. Cocoa and a nice wood? Heck yeah! Lucky for me, it reminds me a ~LOT~ of Velvet which means that I don't need to be buying bottles of this Limited Edition scent. I do love it a lot, though. It's chocolate and spice, a sultry woman in a slinky red dress with metal-tipped stilettos.

First sniff: Wow, I can really smell the sage. It's an incredibly green and herbal smell. It was too strong for me at first but soon mellowed out. Then I could smell the tonka, sandalwood, and the leather. I wish that it hadn't smelled quite so masculine once it mellowed out because I do like it, I just won't wear it. I'm not going to have my husband try this one out because there are other masculine scents that I liked just as much that -aren't- limited editions.

First whiff: Ugh. I thought it was the dragon's blood in another scent that I liked so much. I'm thinking now that it wasn't. This stuff is sticky sweet and a bit cloying. I ended up liking this one ok in the fourth hour of wear. Unfortunately, I hated it for the first three and a half hours. Mind you, I like it a tiny bit better than I liked Dragon's Hide, but not much. *sigh* I really wanted to like this one. Guess I'll keep it and try it out again in a few months.

This is a lighter scent. Foody, it made my tummy growl within minutes of being applied. Freshly applied, I smell the cherry and a hint of orange but no chocolate yet. dry: This is very cherry. It's sweet without being as sweet as sugar or honey. Four hours after application: It's pretty much non-existant at this time. All I ever got out of this was cherry. I wonder what it would smell like mixed with Velvet.

first sniff: This reminds me of a sweaty child eating sweet tarts as he holds a tiny posy of flowers to give to his mother. I can smell a dusty wood in this which I believe is sandalwood. Looking at the description now, I see that it is. Giving it a moment to dry and to absorb into my skin, I can now smell the cedar and the sandalwood as well as something floral or is that the incense? Most of all... it is silky and polished wood. There is still a sweet note to this hidden in the background but the woods are the most noticeable scent. This scent, however, is subtle. There isn't much of a throw and I have to put wrist to nose to really get a good whiff of it. Three hours into the wearing, I am getting an incense vibe now. That's replaced the wood. The scent is faint but I do get an occasional hint of scent as my arms move around.

First whiff and wet on skin: Boy smell. There is a cologne note in this that I'm not too sure that I'm going to want to wear. It doesn't stink, exactly, but it's not girlie. I wonder what the husband would smell like with this on. later: This scent is dead sexy and very male now that it's had time to settle into my skin. I -need- to have my husband try this one. Rowr! While I think it's a sexy scent, I don't think that I'm the one that will be wearing it. -
First impression: Smells like soap. And flowers. End if day: I really don't like florals. This is incredibly floral on me. I really don't like it. This one goes in the swap pile.

n the bottle: Very sharp smelling. I almost didn't try it once I opened the bottle. On the skin: I'm having a hard time deciding if I like this one or not. I can smell the anise which is a faint licorice scent. I don't really like licorice but this really isn't as strong as all that. It has a faint scent of baked goods almost but is -not- a foody scent. Or maybe it's a faintly 'clean' smell. I don't know... this one is a hard one to describe for me. Again, almost catching a faint scent of cedar? Odd scent here. It smells SO much better on the skin than in the bottle, though. End of Day: I don't hate it. I don't love it either. To me, it smells like perfume. You'd think that was a good thing because that means that it's got a rich body and a scent that lingers... but there is a sweet note to it that I don't love. All perfumes should wear like this one... just enough scent left at the end of the day to remind you that you -are- wearing something... but it was never so strong that it punched you in the face from across the room. I think I may pass this one one to someone else eventually.

First, second, and third impressions: Men's cologne. And flowers. Ok, I really don't care for 99% of the floral scents I've run across so this one will have to go. After a day spent wearing it, I just don't like it.

In the bottle: This stuff is strong in the bottle. I wasn't sure if I'd like it when I popped the cap and sniffed it. There's a sharp note to it that I can only hope settles down. On my skin: Wet, the sharp note is still there. Once dry, it's settled into a rich incense scent. I believe that's the dragon's blood. The scent had pretty much faded away by noon. I love the smell of it and was happy to note that a little bit of the scent had rubbed off on my shirt so I still got a whiff of it occasionally. I'll have to get a rollerball applicator for this one so that I can reapply it halfway through the day. Oh.. and maybe a scent locket. I will definitely buy a larger bottle of this one.

I didn't get much of the cocoa vanilla when I wore Velvet but dusty velvet is a pretty good description of this scent. It doesn't stick around for very long on me, good for around 4 hours before it's faded so much that I have to really sniff the skin pretty hard to get any of it. Still, I like the scent and am glad to have a 5ml bottle of it. ::::Edited later the same day:::: You know, it just figures. I wrote this and then wore Velvet to work today. The cocoa note was all but reaching out and slapping me upside the head all day.
