Yup, Snake Oil on me too. SO is slightly sweeter and more vanillic, but honestly, they are so similar that I'm not sure I need both. They serve the same purpose in my fragrance wardrobe. I might give it another try to see if it calms down from its trip to my mailbox and maybe changes more, but at this moment I'm thinking of selling. Very nice fragrance, though!

I haven't done a side by side sniff test, but to me this smells a **lot** like Monster Bait Underpants. Must be the vanilla cream. It starts out lemony but ends up very Underpantsy. I predict it will be very popular for that reason. Curious to see if anyone else sees a similarity.

Madamefaye, I thought Blackbear Moon smelled a lot like Werepuppy, but I liked Werepuppy better so I swapped Blackbear away. You might want to check out Werepuppy if you can find it. Something about that "furry" note that they share makes me feel they are similar.

I kept wondering what this smelled like all day and it finally, finally dawned on me--Beaver Moon 05! This is a really good thing. I think I like Beaver Moon a little more, since it stays true to the top notes and does not go to a musky drydown, which is what Golletes does. Still, it's a fun sweet cheesecake kinda thing. Mmmmm....

Wow. So I guess that's what red musk smells like, since everyone says this is practically single note. My first reaction was, "Hellooo, Snake Oil!" So does that mean SO has red musk in it? Because it has quite a SO vibe to me. I mixed Infernal Lover with The Girls Love Vanilla by Possetts and it was great. I imagine it will be great mixed with O or any number of other vanilla creamy scents. I feel it's a little head shop-ish, but it's nice for hanging out at home.

I wore this all day today and finally, after hours, realized what it reminded me of--Dragon Moon 2006! Nearly identical on my skin, although I don't see that there are many shared notes besides tea leaf. Green and grassy. Very nice for spring.

Someone mentioned that this was a lot like Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist, and I totally agree! If you like that scent, you should get this. However if you OWN that scent, as I do, then I'm not sure you need a bottle of this since it's almost an exact duplicate, at least on my skin. Love it--warm, cozy, soft scent-- but don't need it.

I love Beth's foody frags, and this one is no exception. It is dead on egg nogg to me. But what I love about it the most is the peppery top note I get in the very beginning, along with the brandy. It quickly fades, but it's worth it while it's there. Wish the pepperiness lasted longer. I mix a lot of my scents with Sugar Cookie, but I can see using this one as a mixer as well. If you like the buttery thickness of SC you will probably like this, too.

I was really looking forward to this one, but it didn't work on me at all. I didn't get pear. It wasn't the least bit fresh or juicy--it felt more stale, and, well, sort of like a cheap vanilla drugstore scent. I usually love Beth's vanilla fragrances, but this just didn't work.

Very light, bright, slightly fruity floral. Creamy and white. This is Languor on me, and only Languor. Now I love Langour, but I don't need more of it. Fans of that scent will LOVE this.

Snake Oil with cocoa, teakwood, and rice milk. At first there's a top note of Velvet and Snake Oil mixed, and then, a few short minutes later, simply Snake Oil. I put my regular Snake Oil on one wrist and Boomslang on the other, and by golly, I can't tell the difference. I happen to love Snake Oil, so the fact that I now have two bottles of it is fine. Still, had I known it was so very similar I probably would have simply bought another bottle of (cheaper) Snake Oil.

Sheesh. Am I the only one who smells GINGER? This reminds me of Sudha Segara. Very much so. Sort of a sweet, soft gingery scent. I'm wondering if it's the ambrosia. I think my nose is weird. No one else has mentioned this. Take it with a grain of ginger. I wanted to add that like many of you, I was so glad this wasn't fir, pine or slush! I may have to skip even trying the Yule blends in the future. All that pine and cold slushiness just doesn't suit me. Tried last year and found the same to be true. Sigh.

Nodding my head here. Yes, I get chilly florals. Yes, there is some aquatic note. Yes, there is a teeny bit of mint. But my overall impression is...aloe vera. The lotion. Very green, very aloe vera to me. There is also something biting and sharp in the background. I agree that this could be a very nice summery scent.

My absolute favorite BPAL is still Snake Oil. When I look at some of the reviews for my other favorites I see that people often compare them to Snake Oil, too--Mme Moriarity, Sin, and Smut are three current favorites that have a Snake Oil vibe. I'm wondering if there are any other Snake Oily scents that I should sample. The only one I haven't liked is Snake Charmer, although I wonder if I should maybe try to sample it again (I know, I know, fat chance!). I also think that Blood Amber has a little SO thang going on, and it's also one of my favorites. I am thinking I should try: Scherezade Bloodlust Just wondering if there are any other scents in the Snake Oil family that you think I should try. Thanks!!

Ever get the impression that everyone else is smelling a different imp? My Silk Road is very...nice. It's a citrusy tea scent, like Bulgari's green tea scent, which I overdosed on in the 90s. I didn't get a drop of cinnamon or spice. Just a light, citrusy tea scent that is very generic to my nose but very easy to wear and likeable. If you like Shanghai, you should like this one, too.

It's taken me all day to figure out which scent this reminds me of. At first I thought I was smelling a Dragon's Blood note, but that wasn't it. What I've been smelling all day is my old friend, Blood Kiss. On me this is almost identical to Blood Kiss, my very first BPAL favorite. I swapped Snake Charmer away--didn't like it at all--so I worried about alll the comparisons. I'm thinking I should try Snake Charmer again. I don't get a strong Smut feeling from this at all. I love Smut, but this seems different to me. Nope, on me this is Blood Kiss. Not sure if I need another bottle of it, but I like it just the same.

Wow, this is a gloriously sweet, light floral. The peach and the lily were most prominent to me. I adore those two notes, especially Beth's peach/apricot, so this was all good to me. I only wish that I had gotten this in time for summer. I can't see wearing it now--it's truly a light, pretty summer scent.

I put this on and thought, "Oh, good ole Languor!" It smells almost exactly the same to me. Must be the opium and narcissus that they both share. I have a bottle of Languor so I won't need a bottle of this. Still, it seems to be the perfect summer evening scent--sweet, lush, deep and floral.

I get the Monsterbait Underbed association too. Very close, but not too close. Underbed is one of my all time favorites, so this is a good thing. FBW.

But here are some similarities I've found: Snow White is similar to Sheer Obsession and FM's L'Eau d'Hiver (not entirely sure of spelling) MB Underpants is similar to SL's Chergui Shango is similar to Chantal Thomass Haunted is similar to Shalimar Tombstone is similar to L'Artisan's Bois Farine Shanghai and Bulgari Green Tea Numb and White Linen I've noticed other similarities but I can't recall them right now...

Yup, I'm nodding my head here. Milk Moon with a very slight aquatic edge. I'm not big on aquatics, but this is subtle and nice. And it's not a major note in this blend at all. This is soft, sweet, fabulous. Slightly buttery and milky. I LOVE Milk Moon and am so glad I can buy this when I run out! I find that this has excellent throw and staying power.

When I first put Underbed on I nearly cried. Crikey, what is this yeasty, beasty thing? It smelled like yeast or meade or some other eee word. Foody, yes, but not the kind of foody I was thinking of. I started to despair. Why must I always grab these foody blends like some kid coming down off of a sugar high? Why can't I just be happy with the scents I have and love, why oh why oh why--- And then came the drydown. Ooooo, yesssss, the drydown of all drydowns. The yeastiness is still there in the background, but a soft, creamy coconut came out that made me go all gooey inside. Luscious and unusual. The only scent I can compare it to is Chaste Moon, but I think I l ike it even better than that, despite the yeasty stage. I got a compliment on it almost as soon as I left my house. It's that good. I've been wearing it with Closet. The two compliment each other nicely. BUT, I have to add, this blend makes my skin where I apply it turn red and itchy for at least ten minutes. It kind of burns as it goes on. Here's the sick thing--I slather it on anyway. It's so worth it. It seems that the more I put on the less I feel the burning, like my skin has toughened up to it. I find it only mildly annoying, but if you have very sensitive skin you should be careful when applying it.

This goes on strong and patchouli/orange blossom-ish, and then turns into straight up Snake Oil on me. In fact, I can't tell the difference between the two after they've both dried down. I have 2 bottles of Snake Oil thank-you-very-much, so I don't need any more.
