When I first applied this, I couldn't stand it. It was waaay to incensey for me. However, I resisted the urge to wash it off, and was paid off in the end. I know have something smokey, cola-y, sweet. (Vanilla? Cinnamon?) I like this much, much better. I don't know if I would order a bottle yet (would like to try this while out one night first). I'm tempted, though, very tempted. Also, it has staying power. I applied this about 9 hours ago, and it's still there.

Brimming with native fruits and flowers, but also imbued with the power of native earth magicks: apricot and pomegranate with deep plum, wild roses, two Middle Eastern pale musks, white orchid, iris and sweet roots. This smells a lot like Agalea on me, but...somehow more ripe. I get the plummy, apricotty notes with an almost smokey background. I like it, but not enough for a bottle. It also seems to be fading on me rather quickly.

This was a gift from the lab for me. At first, it was way too strong. All I could smell was that icky, strong jasmine smell. After the drydown, however, something wonderful happened. It turned into a soft, creamy floral...a buttery floral. The strength of the jasmine went away, and now my wrist smells delicate and beautiful.

Bright, sparkly, happy, sunshiney and peachy...but, lightly sensual as well, thanks to the amber and musk. I LOVE this. I put it on this morning before going to the grocery store, and I kept getting whiffs of myself and thought "wow, I smell good!" I must, must, must have a big bottle of this!

This smelled much different than I expected...heady almost. Heavy like the air after the daily rainstorm in Florida in the summertime...humid with the scent of tropicals in the air. I put this on about 5 hours ago, and I still can smell warm ginger on my wrists.

A fabulous, light, cinammony potpourri, apple cidery, happy woodsy smell. I loved, loved, loved it....unfortunately, it was gone in a few hours. I put it on at 8, had to reapply it at 12...and it was gone again within a few hours. (First BPAL to fade so quickly on me.) If it weren't for that, I would have made this my first 10ml!

I almost didn't try this because when I sniffed the imp, I got the overpowering marzipan/almond smell. After reading the reviews, I took the plunge. I put this on when I woke up this morning, figuring I would be taking a shower soon and would be washing it away (wasn't sure if I would like it). At first, it was almond, almond, almond, but within seconds (literally) that faded away, and the sweet lotus came out. Not a minute later, the amber and musky smells evened out the sweetness. Now, a few hours later, I am left with a lovely ambery/spicey smell with a hint of sweetness (slightly cherry). Bastet is a warm, beautiful scent. I didn't believe it was possible, but I believe I love this more than Morocco! At the next update, I will be purchasing a 5ml!

I get two images/feelings with this scent: A. An off-the beaten path museum in Europe dedicated to someone famous maybe only in that town or area. The museum, of course, would be located in the X-Famous Person's childhood home (which, of course, dates back to the 16th century...at least). You walk in, and it smells ancient, like the windows haven't been open since, well, the 16th century. I get a distinct image of climbing up steps to see X-Famous Person's bedroom and walking into the room. The light is shining in through a window in fron of X's writing desk, and you can see the dust I've disturbed dancing in the sunshine. I have the urge to open the window and let in some fresh air. B. College. Flea Market Wednesdays. Pot. Incense. My wake-and-bake friend who seemed to think that incense would cover up body odor (and make up for lack of bathing..in Florida..in August...). Neither image is something I'd choose to smell like. (too bad, as I had really high hopes for this one!) ETA: My parents both LOVED the smell of this. I was visiting them one weekend, and I had my mom take a whiff from the Aureus imp. She smiled and said "Mark, smell this." I duly walked over to my dad, who is pretty adverse to any kind of scent (and was about to refuse to take a sniff). He, too, was soon sporting a grin and said to my mother "Smells like 1973. Brings back some memories, doesn't it?" Not something I expected to hear from my retired military father. I'm mailing this to my sister, who I know will love it to bits...and the BPAL familial enabling will begin. How true it is that what may not work for one person, will probably be bliss for at least three others. I remain amazed by Beth's talent.

Wow, I totally love this. It just seems like such a natural scent to me. It's warm, and it emanates off of my skin (must be the amber doing that). At first, I just smelled vanilla and honey, but, then the amber emerged. For a few hours it was honeyed-amber, but now there is a hint of vanilla. I feel...calm and sensual with this on. I can't stop sniffing my wrists! I'll be ordering a big bottle of this!

Granted, I haven't tried many BPAL scents (yet), but I truly believe if I could only have one BPAL scent for the rest of my life, it would be Morocco. I love Morocco--love, love, love it. I can't pick out any of the individual scents, but it is a grown-up smell. It's warm and dry and makes me think of Kate Winslet in Hideous Kinky. (The only drawdown to the scent is that it doesn't seem to last as long on me as some of the others do. )

In the bottle: Slightly fruity, slightly floral, vanilla smell. Wet : CHERRY! Wow, at first it smelled purely like a Dimetapp Cold Medicine inspired perfume line. (I'm not totally adverse to Dimetapp--it was the only kind of medicine I would take without my mother having to chase me through the house first). Drying Down: Bright fruity (still cherry) , with the vanilla starting to peek out a bit. An hour or so later: The vanilla and the honey have come out to beat back the cherry. It's balancing out nicely, and I'm getting something smokey, spicey and slightly powdery coming out. Overall: I like this. It lasts quite a while, and is a very comforting scent. I really cannot stop sniffing my wrist. I imagine that I'll be forcing everyone I know to do the same (well, sniff my wrist, not theirs). ETA: I was thinking about what kind of scents to get for a room scent earlier. I don't like the ones that I have, and my roommate is big into those PartyLite candle smells. I kept getting a whiff of something sweet and vanilla-y and thought "wow, that smells really good." I was going to ask her what scent that was....a few minutes later, I realized that was me and my Dragon's Milk. (I'd rather have it on me than in an oil burner, though!)

I was hoping this would be a nice, light airy scent that's able to deal with the Florida humidity, but all I got was Lemon Pledge, Lemon Pledge, then...it disappeared altogether. Hm. I still want to try Embalming Fluid, though--I hope I have better luck with that!

(My first review...and my 2nd post, I believe) After reading all the other reviews, I was afraid I would be end up being another member of the Play-Dough Club. I have an imp of this on order (my first order!), but I couldn't wait, so I picked up another imp on eBay. I'm not good at discerning scents (yet), so bear that in mind. When I first sniffed the imp, I got the medicinal smell that others have mentioned...medicinal and spiced-up industrial strength cleansers. On, however, it was a completely different story. At first, it seemed like a spicy vanilla coke float. As it dried, it softened into the most amazing, subtle vanilla...with a kick. The staying power was amazing. I could still smell yesterday's application when I woke up this morning. My description really doesn't do it justice. (Luckily, there are 7 pages of ones that do. ) Let me just say that, on three different occasions, Snake Oil has gotten in the way of me testing out other imps. Each time, I ended up washing off whatever scent I was wearing because I decided that I'd much rather smell like Snake Oil. I am torn between wanting to wear it all the time and trying to conserve my imp until my January 28th order arrives....what to do? what to do?
