    Burt's Bees fans will know...

Ok: here's the caveat, I've not smelled any of these (or your target), but here's what comes up for bay rum, which is a classic scent. -Baron Samedi -Jazz Funeral -Santo Domingo -Jolly Roger Baron Samedi's description state's that it is BPAL's bay rum scent, but the other three I listed also list bay rum.

I want a BPAL that smells like Bath & Body Works...

I shouldn't think that Wilde would match up with something called Forest Moss, though.

Olfactory caffeine: Wake up, Stay Awake with BPAL

Big second on the Moxie love! It's really fresh and bright.
  4. I think your perception of dragon's bone would totally depend on how you react to dragon's blood. Although I love orris, because my chem amps sweet/dragon's blood, it wasn't dry at all, unfortunately.

    Dilution and Carrier Oils

I can't speak to ph, but I think that carrier oils would increase duration. Many of us with really dry skin will apply lotion before applying to decrease the skin's absorption, and using a carrier oil is a similar effect.
  6. Just a bit of warning, Katharina is pretty intense. Like, rubbing apricots all over your body. Definitely for the devout.

Which Tarot fragrance is for me?

Just a heads up, many of the tarot oils smell very similar to me, though there are a few that are noticably different (like the Empress and...I want to say the Devil?).

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

If you can pull a miracle and find it, Lobban was such a fab lemon scent.

Recs for those who can't do sweet perfumes?

zenvodunista is talking about Lynx, I think. Don't remember if there's more to her name or not. I'm very sweet. I tend to go for things that balance and compliment, rather than covering it up. Incidentally, musk leads to tears. I like citrusy and fresh ginger scents. Fruits with herbs also work well.

    Shub-Niggurath

Unfortunately, I was a disappointed in Shub. I definitely got the spicy ginger, which was nice, but there's definitely a base note that disagrees with me, which tends to be the problem with most bpal for me. It's not...full on vetiver, but something grassy/herbal.

    International Shipping Info+Questions

That's really weird. I just got a swap from Canada earlier this week.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Victorian to me, but not rosy: Veil, and if you can get your hands on it, Lex Talionis.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

I'm with Firewaver on the unrecommendation for Delirium. Lovely scent, but if you're going for true rose, it's not for you.
  14. Hmm. I know *I* haven't smelt anything that was like Chiroptera, but I also don't really go after florals much.

    Discussion of all things Amber

Megaera=amber plus fruit. I love the lab's amber. Amber and honey are pretty much the only two base notes that I can stand at all.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I love Access. I wish I had it on my computer. *sigh* It's a shame it doesn't come with the Student version of XP.

    Desperately Seeking Bergamot!

hmm. Alice is nice, but all I got is the milk note. Maybe try Megaera?

    Discussion of all things Amber

Work with me here. Try Megaera. It has some other notes, but on drydown, the amber really becomes prominent, with just a touch of fruit and citrus to brighten it up.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I think it really does just come down to skin thickness. I've never gotten a rash, but I always get a mild burning sensation when I first put on bpal (I've way sensitive skin). The skin on the inside of your arms and anywhere directly beneath a joint (think knees, armpits, chin, behind ears) are simply the thinnest on the body. Unfortunately, these areas amp scent the most for the same reason, because the blood is so close to the surface. Have fun, but be careful!

    Dorian

This reminds me a lot of Villainess' Gingersnapped and Pyromania smooches. When I first applied it, there was that very sweet foody scent with a slight hint of soapiness behind it. Now the soap is completely gone, though. This actually reminds me a lot of how My Little Ponies and sugar cookies smell. I can almost smell a hint of citrus behind the foody scent, but only just. I think this would be great for anyone who likes Gingersnapped. eta: I'm notorious for my loathing of anything with musk in it. I can't detect the musk at all, just adds a bit of warmth, not even that slightly sweaty scent in Bathsheba. I'm also convinced that there /must/ be some heliotrope in here somewhere. eta2: Ooook. Several hours later, all it is is musk. bubblegum sweat. urk. Even through my stuffy nose.

    Swiss Army!

Villain! But, of course, I recommend that to all men, because it is teh sex, and believe you me, I am not in the habit of being attracted. Also, from note descriptions, Mad Hatter might be good. Perhaps Pain? Pain is a little simpler, I think, but is the lavendar and pennyroyal (which is quite minty).

    I need more Cherry!

on the heliotrope front, I think heliotrope smells exactly like really strong vanilla. So...your nose will vary! But you seriously don't need to worry about cough syrup. Or if you are, check the reviews for the particular scent.

    I need more Cherry!

Most of the cherries in Beth's are amaretto style, imo. fyi, I'm not a fan of cherry scents/candy generally either. Anything that smells like cough syrup isn't actually from cherry. Beth uses essential oils, and cough syrup is very artificial based and filled with alcohol.

    Alice

I wish so much I got the bergamot in this. On me, Alice is intensely sweet almond. Beth's milk note (except for in Sudha Segara) is pretty much always an extreme amaretto scent which wipes out everything else in its path. I love all the notes in this, in theory, but it just doesn't happen. If you're similarly overwhelmed by the milk and honey, I'd recommend Maiden for another rose/carnation scent.
