Phenomenal, and definitely recommended for other men into smelling good. The scent is deep, dark and masculine, goes well with a bowler hat and a clove cigarette. The black musk stands out, but isn't musky when I think of the word musk. I find it rather hard to pin down the individual notes, instead there's a single glowing smell that lasts most of the day. Makes me want to: drink backstage at a cabaret.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. I was really hesitant about getting L'Heure Verte, but I'm so very glad I did. It's a soft scent, although not un-masculine, really more gender neutral, which is nice. The absinthe notes poke out most for me, although the sugar to mix is there as well. The rose lays low, like it's a boutonnière. Opium is ever more subtle. I'll miss this one when the Carnival leaves town. Makes me want to: chase a green fairy while wearing a tuxedo.

I thought I'd reviewed this already; glad I popped in to check on other peoples perspectives, else my own would've remained private! As a fan of boozy scents, this one was great for me. Don't judge by smelling from the bottle, though, because that really concentrates the bourbon note. It knocked me back a little, and I hesitated to try it after that. But then I did, and for that I'm grateful. The bourbon drops back quickly on the wrist, and tobacco smoke flows out gently behind. The "cheap cologne" hides in the background, and still isn't bad the way cheap makes it sound. Makes me want to: Listen to Dean Martin with the boys. A favorite.

I actually suggested this one back in April, so when it was announced I literally jumped for joy. I ordered two bottles. It came today, and I realize now I made a mistake. I should've ordered three. Bay rum is one of my all-time favorites, having had worn some version of it for several years. I had some concern over bourbon vanilla, since I don't wear sweet scents well (except for Shango for some reason), but my fears were baseless, as it's bourbon vanilla, not just any old vanilla. It's rich and deep and a little sinister, boozy and sharp. It's the perfect scent for me.

The sight of a Jazz Funereal is something to behold, especially at that moment when the procession turns the corner and switches gears from mourning the death to celebrating the life. This Jazz Funereal, recently imped to me, is the reverse on my skin. When in the bottle it smells so rich and earthy but bourbon-ed at the same time, like someone had poured a bottle of Makers Mark on a fresh grave, when the fall magnolias bloom. Wet on my wrist it's a celebration of bourbon with a slight whiff of dirt. Fantastic. Sadly, as it dries it begins to smell vaguely of baby powder. I don't blame anyone, it tends to happen with perfume oils, and before long there's not much around me but a baby powder scent, and a strong one at that. Still, I like it very much, and will be keeping the imp in my vest pocket to keep it from drying.

Why's the rum gone? Because la Baron has it. A deeply spiced rum, with potent bay leaves and clove spice, and something I can't quite place. When wet the spices are pushed to the surface, and the rum settles in. Fear not, it's not going anywhere. In about twenty minutes the spices have died down a bit, and a gently smiling skull of rum lingers around your shoulder. Highly suggested if you enjoy boozy scents (which I do). It's definitely masculine, I think, but that may be my opinion because I used to wear Bay Rum cologne. Laisser le bon temps rouler.

Received just last week, my first eBay bpal ever. The scent is wet and woodsy, like walking through the forest just after the first rain of fall. The fruit seems hidden, secret, but clearly there. For some reason it reminds me of Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite; dark and rotting but tantalizing at the same time. Which I mean in the best way possible, to be sure. I think I'm going to put on some and re-read that book! Now I need the t-shirt. (Stupid skulls with tophats fetish.)
