In the bottle: Imagine aged incense and rum. Maybe a bit of aged opium too. This is sweet without being sickening or foody. The incense note isn't earthy or patchouli like. It's like the smell of a really pungent incense while it's burning. On the skin: Absolutely wonderful. A sweet scent that doesn't make me want to scrub my wrists with a brillo pad. This remains sweet but it's tempered by this pungent burnt incense note that never fades off the entire time you are wearing it. It's like a note in Wilde. I much prefer it in this blend as it really keeps this one interesting. This scent doesn't change much from in the bottle, and it really lasts as well. Overall: Absolutely nothing like any other bpal I've ever experienced, aside from having the strong burnt incense note that is also in Wilde. This is one of those scents that you covet even if you don't reach for it very often. Absolutely perfect.

There are some similarities between this blend and Nephilim. This is much less herbal and fruity and more smoky and sharp. In the bottle: I notice the wood notes, with cedar standing out the most. The pepper and grapefruit also stands out for me making this a bit sharp. After it dries down: Much less sharp and much more smoky. This isn't like other blends with a citrus note. The grapefruit doesn't dominate or turn soapy/perfumey in the least. The later stages of this scent are quite similar to the later stages of Nephilim. Overall this is wonderfully blended, and one of my all time favorites. You really have to be a fan of smoky/woodsy blends, though.

Queen of Sheba. For me that one means business.

I'm all about the violets as well. I blame Lush for that . My ultimate favorite would have to be Saturnalia with The Raven coming in at a close second. Other good ones are Nocturne, Morgause, and Bluebeard. I haven't tried Veil or Marie yet but I have high hopes for those as well.

This scent is so beautifully unique and unexpected. At first I feared that the mint would make this one unwearable for me, but it is quite different from the other mint bpals I've tried such as Nine Mysteries or Envy. I'm not sure if it is the pennyroyal in this one or the black musk, but it turns out absolutely magical. There is definitely something dusty and antique smelling about this which I would bet is the pennyroyal. The lavender and citrus men's cologne of the description seems to be more of a theme in the background. Then the black musk seems to give it a warmer feel which makes it much more wearable and inviting. There is definitely a sense of fantasy and escapism about this scent. I would imagine it would be a great one to wear while reading a Charles De Lint or Neil Gaiman book on a rainy day. I wouldn't say that this is an everyday scent for me, but it certainly has a prominent place in my collection and is destined to be a 5ml purchase.

I want to love this one so much. From sniffing the bottle I had such high hopes. Before it dries I can still smell a bit of the vetiver and leather. However, once it dries all of that fades and it becomes a huge mess of gardenia and jasmine with nothing earthy or masculine to hold it down. The violet is there a bit, but not nearly enough for me. It always seems that the scents we love never stand out enough, yet the scents we hate come to the forefront. I waited around for the gardenia to calm down but it never really does on me. Oh well. At least I have my beloved Saturnalia.

Wow. As soon as I opened this one I wanted to jump in. It is sooo fresh without smelling like citrus cleaner or overpowering men's cologne. definitely the perfect balance of herbaceous, green, clean floral, and incense. I would certainly classify it as a masculine scent, but certainly doesn't have the predictable feel of most masculine scents. It reminds me very much of Bulgari Black. Utterly unique, fresh, intoxicating, and just dark enough. I really can't speak highly enough of this one. I think it is quickly making it's way to the top of my favorite scent list.

Oh wow. I want a bottle of this now. This is the perfect kind of well blended patchouli scent. It seems to be a different kind of patchouli than the usual. Less like pheromones and more like dry woods. There is almost a teak-like quality to this that I'm loving. It also has a hint of herbs and dry tree leaves and grasses. It doesn't go sweet, but certainty has a certain freshness to it. I don't get the citrus note that everyone is talking about, however. Either way I'm madly in love with it and want a ton more.

When I first got this oil I passed up trying it several times because it just didn't grab me. I finally tried it and am totally blown away. At first I get a wonderful green note. The dandelion is so perfect because it's not really floral but it's not too green, nor is it a typical green scent. Then I smell a wee bit of the booze, but it seems to add a certain sweetness that makes the scent deeper and more complete. On my skin the hops and the tobacco are not in the forefront, but seem to blend well with the dandelion and keep it from getting too weedy. More than anything I am delighted in the utter uniqueness of this scent. I see a bottle in my future.

Oh my goodness, this is so wonderful. All I could think at first when sniffing this is some kind of Lush product. I've finally narrowed it down to a combination of Think Pink ballistic, Blackberry Bomb ballistic, and American Cream conditioner. Funny, because I was utterly desperate for an American Cream Bpal scent. What's strange is that I am the girl who loves scents like Brimstone and Djinn. When I looked up the discription of this I nearly fell over. Who knew I would be into a fruity scent that has strawberry and champagne notes? Though the champagne note in this reminds me of the chardonnay note in one of my favorites, Perversion. This one just keeps on growing on me, so I think a 5ml might be a must.

I had such high hopes for this one, so I spent a bit (waaaay) too much for it on ebay. When I first sniffed it I was rather fond of it and dabbed a bit on, and kept on liking it that night, though I could tell it wasn't really my kind of scent. I could sense a bit of the smoke scent, but with a rather sweet edge and a fruity cherry note. So, the next morning at work I put it on again. Almost immediately it seemed just kind of off. Next thing my coworker says "what's that smell" with a strange look on her face. Turns out the Hearth had started to smell like burnt maple syrup. I tried desperately to wash the scent off, but it ended up lasting all day, even with Brimstone overtop. Actually, I could still smell the burnt sugary smell even the next day. I must say I have never known a Bpal oil to be so persistant. Definitely not one for me, but I could see it working on someone whose body chemistry doesn't enhance the sweet notes so heavily.

My goodness, this one just makes me want to purr. Now that I've been wearing brimstone all of the time I can sense a similarity between them in the smoky, grittiness. However, Djinn is lighter and almost more sensual. Brimstone seems more serious, if that makes any sense. I am now picking out some of the lighter notes in Djinn, which seem to me like pine and perhaps something with a light citrus scent. To me Djinn doesn't smell like fire. If it smelled hotter or sweeter I could agree with that. Though I could agree with the aftermath of a fire bit. It's almost like smoke coming off of an evergreen forest fire. Yeah, that's it. Good thing I have a 5ml on the way.

Thunderbird is totally not my usual type of scent, but this is just phenominal. To me it is clean, ozoney and almost fruity without being tart or too sweet. I expected a bit of a woodsey scent, but instead it has a hint of green to it. Usually these sort of scents fade away on me almost instantly, but this one hung around for quite a while. The other thing I can't get over with this scent is that it reminds me of something from my childhood. It's as if I had a barbie or some sort of doll (or doll accessory) that smelled like this. This scent just brings me back to some sort of childhood innocence and comfort. I'll be breaking down and getting a 5ml in my next order.

I wanted to like this one. I really did. This is one of the only scents that I can honestly say I don't like. At first I was excited about the vetiver and oakmoss. It wasn't until I had it on for a while that I just couldn't shake the notion that it smells somewhat of bad breath. There is a certain bitterness to it that just rubs me the wrong way. Almost like something rotten. It could be the civet, or it could be a combination of the civet and anise (which I generally like). All of that said I could imagine this working on someone whose body chemistry doesn't emphasize the sweet or musky scents.

I hesitated trying this one everytime I sniffed it in the bottle. It smelled to me like some unpleasant green almond concoction. Finally one night I got up the courage and dabbed the tiniest bit onto my wrist. After about 10 minutes I think I started just about salivating. This is an uber sexy almond spice. It's not too almondy, not too sweet. Just perfect. I've never had this reaction before to almond, but this one has totally become my sex blend. I'm almost afraid of what might happen if I wear this one to work . I definitely need a ton of this.

So amazingly wonderful. To me this is pure vetiver and violet. Being as I'm a huge fan of both, this is obviously a favorite of mine. The vetiver gives it a deep woodsy dark scent, and the violet lightens it up with a sexy intensely green floral. I feel sinister, playful, and enticing all at the same time with this. I bet it would make a nice room scent as well.

I held such high hopes for this one, as I was craving a good pine scent. In the bottle it was a wonderful sweet musky pine blend. After the first few minutes on the skin the pine fades away and the scent becomes more and more powdery and sweet. I'm not too familiar with ambergris, but I would venture to say that this becomes very prominant. Along with some more subtle musk. Certainly not a scent for me, but I could see this on someone whose chemistry doesn't emphasize the sweet powdery notes as much.

First off, I must say that I am madly in love with this scent. At first I hesitated because I thought it was too much like Malediction. Upon further wearing I realized that it doesn't have so much of that sharp vetiver scent. On my chemistry (that everything turns spicy sweet on) this is the perfect scent. When all else fails I always go for this one. It is dry and smoky, dirty and earthy, and just plain raw. It's like the element of fire and earth rolled into one sexy package. What's more interesting is that it's so intensely earthy without smelling of patchouli, or any particular wood note for that matter. Truly a well blended scent.

I would classify Magus in the same family of scents like Cathedral and Sagittarius, but this one has a somewhat softer edge to it. Cedar seems to be main note here, but there is a certain powdery softness to it. Almost like a cinnamon cedar incense, though I don't believe cinnamon is a note in here. This scent to me is comforting, centering, intriguing, powerful, and unique. I feel like an eccentric used bookstore owner who specializes in out of print occult books .

It sounds like we have some pretty similar tastes. So far I've really been loving: Magus Brimstone- so wonderful Malediction Morocco (I smell more sandalwood and cinnamon in this than anything else) Lex Talionis Hope that helps.
