Satan And Death With Sin Intervening

First whiff, orange blossom, backed by vetiver. As it dries, the orange blossom backs off a bit and the scent becomes more complex. I'm having trouble pulling out the individual notes, but, it's a complex spicy sweet dark scent on me.

    Love and Pain

Lavender, sweetened with the black musk. Very strong. There might possibly be tobacco behind it. The vanilla hasn't managed to show through yet. The imp is a keeper. I discovered that it isn't something that I merely like...so much as occasionally I need to wear this. It doesn't hurt that it layers well with Lilith Victoria(which brings out more vanilla). When I reach for a salon scent, this one is it about 80% of the time...eventually, when the imp runs out, I may weaken and get a bottle...eventually. ~edit~I keep looking for a lavender scent, and I keep coming back to this one as the only lavender scent that I have tried where the lavender doesn't immediately fade away on me. Of course, now that I have had the imp for a few months, and my nose has also gotten better at discerning notes, I can smell the black musk and tobacco much more clearly as well. The vanilla is a background note in this for me, still, but, all of those notes tend to last better on me than lavender, so having any lavender stay past the first hour is a breakthrough. I still don't know golden copaifera well enough to recognise it.

    The Ecstacy of St. Theresa

Gardenia, iris, and chamomile, with resins behind them. The iris is going very sweet. I'll give it a few minutes to see if it calms down. Alright it is calming down slightly, but, I don't think this one is for me. The iris is in the forefront ahead of the gardenia and all the other notes. I don't think I care for iris all that much.

    The Penitent Magdalen

Light, delicate floral. It's nice, but, that's about it. If I were more into florals perhaps?

    Resurrection of the Flesh

Sweetness and resin. Drying, I can smell the rose geranium. Fortunately it doesn't take over. On me, this is sweet, sweet resins. Resins and florals sweetened almost to the point of seeming edible. I can imagine candied flowers smelling something like this. I like!

Spirit of the Komachi Cherry Tree

Sweet and light. Ah, there's the sandalwood, grounding it slightly before it blows away. Light, airy floral with just a hint of the asian pear, and the barest hint of the sandalwood to anchor it. Very nice. Except that I don't think I'll actually wear it. I'll put it in my general box and see how often I pull it out to use.

    Macbeth and the Witches

Wet, ozone. Ozone and steel and leather. Actually, there is a hint that it isn't just steel and leather, it is an armored warrior on a lightning slashed night. I do smell the part of the scent that is turning into BO on some. Mine is not quite going that far, but there is a musky impression to it. Dry, the scent of herbs has overcome everything else. It was an interesting ride. Interesting that my skin chose to amp the herbs so far up. I suppose I need to be careful of mugwort, colophony, and ajowan in the future.

    Les Anges Déchus

Wet, leather and spicy cologne. Drying, leather, and spice and cologne. I don't know...something in it is reminding me of a particular type of guy I used to run into once in a while...the sort that was always dressed to impress, with the expensive haircut. The guy that was headed into Marketing or Business or Law, and was going to be the Next Big Thing? The sort that even if I did think he was going to be wealthy, I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole because he cared more bout his car and clothes than any girl he happened to be with. It isn't an unpleasant scent, it just has an association in my head that I don't care for.

    Horn of Amalthea

I love this one for the first couple hours. It starts off very fruity and fabulous, and the fruits mellow and change over the course of the two hours. Then, after two hours, it is mostly the squash and maybe the lettuce, and time to reapply to get the fruityness of the start. Unfortunately, to really use this I'd need the part I love to last longer than two hours. There really isn't enough of it to reapply constantly.

    The Gladdener of All Hearts

Well, I did have to try it. It's a really nice soft innocent sweet smell...untill the sage makes it all about the sage on my skin. This is sage on me, soft sweet innocent sage.

    Lilith Victoria

In the bottle, I could smell the Dorian, fennel, and lavender. On me, the lavender springs forward. It isn't misbehaving and I like lavender, so this is reasonable even if not intended. The lily of the valley is there in the background with the fennel and a little bit of the vanilla flower and Dorian. It seems that the Snake oil is off sleeping. New motherhood will do that.

    Lady Lilith

I took a chance on this one. There are so many notes that the rose might possibly work. In the bottle, it is such a nice scent that even if my skin plays havoc with it, I might keep it for use in a locket. On me, most of the scent seems the same, I can smell the mandarin and the resin. As it dries the rose imediately climbs to the top, but, doesn't scream or throw a fit. A creamy floral, with musk, opium poppy and resin as a base. Moderate throw.

    The Witching Time of Night

First whiff, green and nocturnal. As it dries, there's a floral rising up...It isn't familiar to me. It could be any of the flowers listed since I don't know any of them. Floral with green background.

    Autumn Coolness

I thought I smelled a lemon note for a split second, but, it vanished. Wet, bamboo, and somehting slightly spicy...Cassia buds? There is something hiding in the foliage that smells kind of like an animal. It is hiding behind everything else, but, there's a funky musky something in behind the other notes. It seems to leave, mostly, as the scent dries down. Spicy, but cool scent; It's like spicy scented leaves in cool weather...with just a trace of wildlife passing by.

    The Churchyard

First whiff is all refreshing green leaves and shadows. The roses, and I think something else with them, come forward fairly quickly. Either midnight roses don't amp too much on me, or there are enough other notes to keep them mostly in check, because although I like the first whiff without the roses better, it is still a fairly green scent even after the roses show up. So far, this is nice. I don't need a bottle of it, but, it's nice.

    Graveyard Dirt

2008 version. Very very Dirt....like being elbow deep in planting mix on a cool day.

    Brom Bones

Oh, lordy...I was thinking, "Eh, it's another leather and musk scent. I can skip that one and save my pocketbook at least a little pain." And then I noticed the amazing powerful musky scent ...The scent of a man who knows that he can get away with anything. 'Nough said. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, it doesn't actually last all that long on me. Maybe I can skip the bottle after all, but, I think I will enjoy snifffing the imp. mmmmmm.

    The Shattered Pumpkin

First whiff is dirt, pumpkin and leather. Ah, there are the waterweeds, and pine pitch. Drying, it blends a bit more into mostly earthy pumpkin with a watery tang. Aquatic pumpkin? Aquatic pumpkin.

    The Hessian of the Hollow

Wet, on me, I get the blood, shrapnel and the gunpowder. Also, vetiver, woah. Drying, it is smoothing out and blending. This scent feels very dark and brooding. Probably a fantastic one for those who love smoke and vetiver. I'll have to be in the right "take no prisoners" mood to wear this, I think.

    Wiley's Swamp

First whiff was all fallen chestnuts. However, as the scent dries, the chestnuts go away and I can see where people are getting dryer sheets. This is a very very clean swamp. I *think* the dryer sheets are fading. I have a sweet bright scent, with maybe crushed leaves(bog laurel? Oak leaf? Virginia creeper?), that doesn't really seem very swamplike. Also, the rotting wood seems MIA, which is unusual as my skin usually loves wood in any form.

    Sugar Skull

2008 version. Sugar, brown sugar, and incense....except.... It's reminding me of something I can't quite place. It smells like something sugary sweet that I haven't had since I was about ten. I just can't recall what! Maybe, possibly something like Pop rocks...or Pixie sticks? Something I haven't had in a very very long while. Throw is moderate, and it lasts pretty well on me.

    Sticky Pillowcase

Wet, I smell strawberry candy. However the strawberry doesn't stick around on me. Drying, it turns into sugar, with just a hint of fruit waaaay in the back. I might also be smelling the lint, maybe. Throw is light to moderate on me. A nice wearable scent, and not overpowering or cloying.

    Meditation in Autumn

This is a fairly faint scent on me; Mostly I smell like I have been out pruning all the old growth in the garden, and bagging it up. Dry brown vines being taken down to make room for new growth in the spring.

    The Goblin Rider

Cold pine and cedar and faint incense. The cedar is the strongest note, but the whole scent is light to moderate strength on me. I was worried about the chilly night air, but, I should not have. There's only enough to keep the scent cool, rather than being warm resin/incense/wood.

    Huesos De Santo

Orange poppyseed muffins, with anise. Very foody. Very lovely. I can smell flowers past the cake, which is a little surprising, since the orange cake smell is so rich. Sweet, rich, moderately strong fragrance. ~edit~ This scent is addictive. I adore the fresh orange cake scent that lasts about an hour, and I adore the cake/custard scent about 5 hours in. That drydown that is so lovely lasts for four or so hours. The anise is a bit more apparent than I'd like for the time in-between the parts that I love, though, and that is the only thing making me hesitate about buying a bottle. 4 hours to put up with in exchange for 5 hours of win? Not quite a good enough ratio to buy a bottle, unfortunately. Otherwise, I love this scent.
