    Chanukkiyah

My Gran used to make sufganiyot at Channukah. She made that and everything else that made the holidays so sweet. Her house always smelled of the beeswax from candles burned every week. And fig. She always had a bowl of figs on the table. When I opened the bottle I was transported to my Gran's house. She is in the kitchen making schmaltz from the left over chicken fat. There's a big pot of chicken soup with matzo balls on the stove and noodle kugel in the oven. She has already made the dough for the sufganiyot rising in a bowl. My Grandpa and Dad are arguing in the living room, agreeing very loudly about nothing at all. My sis and I are standing at the table hoping to get to help Gran while Mom gets her and Gran some coffee. Me and sis fight over who gets to help make the latkes this time. I win 'cause I'm the oldest. She's still too young to help. HA! The smell of oils, fruits, sweet and sharp moving through the house. I miss my Gran. I'm glad I found a bottle of this to bring her back to my mind and heart.

    Agnes Nutter

WOW! I love this. In the bottle: smoke and gunpowder. Wet: gunpowder and rusty nails. Dry: smoke and gunpowder, rusty nails and sea salt. It took hold of me. I had to keep going back to my wrist to sniff all night. I let my bf sniff and as I said, "gunpowder" he said, "yes, but still definitely a perfume". It's got a tang to it and a lot of smoke. Think I need to run off and buy a bottle soon.

    Love's Philosophy

This is the first scent that someone in my office has noticed. I have pointed some out to 2 of the gals before, but today, as I walked up to a desk, the gal sitting there exclaimed "wow, you smell great". And I did. I don't get a hint of mint at any point, just vanilla and cream, nice and sweet, with a hint of something warm in the background. For me, this is pretty much the same in the bottle, wet and dry. I'm going to need some more of this! ETA: This one was in the first package from my Summer SW. Thank you sweetie SW!

    Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

Again, I am amazed at what my skin and body chemistry do to BPAL scents. I always seem to get the second notes, things further down the list. In the bottle: medicinal sassafras Wet: cream soda Dry: cream soda I like cream soda. It's the vanilla and butter that come to the forefront on me. I like this scent. It's warm and sweet. It's got a nice throw, not too big, not to small and seems to have a bit more staying power than some that I've used. Edit: OOooo... I was hunched over some work on my desk and when I sat up I got a huge whiff of sassafras billowing up out of my cleavage...I'm soooo happy!

    Ile de la Tortue

Woof! This is soooo pretty. In the bottle I can pick up the bois de chandel, being somewhat like jasmine, and the palm wine, the sweetness comes through. Wet, I get all of the other floras one by one, including the greenery. It's like standing in the Ewe Gardens in Florida. Beautiful smell! Dry is when I start picking up the wet limestone along with the floras. It's not strong, just a hint in the background of damp lime and dust. Overall, this reminds me of trips we took when I was a kid to a couple places. The floras come from all the vacations visiting my grandparents in Florida and the other notes, the greenery and limestone, from camping trips rock mining in Montana, Idaho and Arkansas. This is just, again, soooo pretty. *runs to add this to the wishlist*

    O

O is sex in a bottle for me. In the bottle was honey and amber. Wet was honey and vanilla. Dry was all three mixed warm and sensual. My bf liked this one A LOT! Think I need a big bottle.

    Plunder

:D OUCH!OUCH!OUCH!OUCH!OUCH! This was my first heavy cinnamon scent. I didn't know I would react so horribly. OH THE BURN!!! I so love the smell of this. I love every scent note in it but I can't wear it. I wanted it soooo much.

    Earth Rat

I love Earth Rat. In bottle: Sweet and fruity, complex with a hint at the dragon's blood. Wet: Melon and fruity. Dry on wrists: soft and sweet, mild fruitiness with bamboo and narcissus. Dry in cleavage: very fruity, plum, tangerine and melon. I get a lot of notes from this depending on what part of me I sniff. And it all makes me hungry.

    Rakshasa

Rakshasa = ROSE on me. It's amazing to me how different things smell on each individual, even different from one body part to another. I put this on my wrists and in my cleavage. After about an hour, my wrists had a very light sandlewood scent but my cleavage had gone all roses. They kept coming up out of my bra in a big bouquet and smacking me on the face. And it hit hard. I didn't smell anything else but roses, not those simpering hot house roses either, full bodied, 100 year old English Rose Garden roses! My bf also smelled roses...from across the room. This is the first scent I've worn that had any real throw. Most stay in a cloud just barely around me. How much did I use, you ask. It was from a frimp from the lab. I dabbed one stick's worth on my wrists and in my cleavage. That's all. 3 little dunks into the bottle. WOW! This one is powerful on me.

    Vice

I truly love this scent. In the bottle the orange and chocolate are overwhelming in a super yummy way. Wet, the cherries pop out to say hello. Dry, it's like having melted chocolate on my skin with cherry syrup and orange juice layered in there. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't last long on me. It's 3 hours later and it's almost completely faded from sniff. Faint chocolate is all that's left. I miss it already. I guess I'll just need to get a lot more bottles since I'll be reapplying often. This is a favorite smell for me.

    All Night Long

My first review from my first order.... In the bottle, obviously cinnamon as everyone has noticed. It's very sharp with cedar undertones. Wet, the cinnamon is milder for the moment. The cedar I got from the first sniff has turned to something more like tobacco. Dry, the cinnamon is like Big Red gum and the tobacco is much stronger. Really, to me, it smells like a busy night in Manhattan. It reminds me of the smells from the street in the theatre district. I like the scent. It takes a little getting used to but it's growing on me. I'm interested in seeing if the All Night Long effect comes into play. I'll update later.
  13. I'm new here. I've placed my first order and I read on the BPAL welcome page that I could check "shipped through" on the forum. Can someone tell me where I can find that? I know I'll be waiting a while but I'm too excited not to check it every day!
