Ok, on me this smells of lavender, strongly when wet, pleasantly when dry. Lavender is not one of my favorite scents, as I find things like mint and citrus more relaxing. That being said, I think I will be ordering a large bottle at some point because that is the fastest I have ever cuddled my small children to sleep In My Life. Apply somnus to wrists. Cuddle children in bed. Sleeping in 20 minutes. I mean it. My 15 month old was fussing and I draped my arm around her, with my wrist on her midsection. 3 minutes later she was out like a light. That was freaky weird, I'm telling you.

Wet: Very sweet and fruity, like raspberry candy rather than real raspberries. Dry: Faded to a very faint, almost nonexistent sweetness next to my wrist. Verdict: The wet version is too sweet and it fades to nothing almost immediately. There was no happy middle ground on this one for me. Into the swap pile she goes.

Wet: a very strong, wet flowers sort of smell. It was not terribly pleasant for the first ten or fifteen minutes. I suppose the rose leaf was strongest on me. Dry: It dried down to a nice, light woodsy, foral smell. The rosewood and hazel, I suppose are uppermost. It is pleasant and light without being overly foral, feminine, or perfumey. A nice perfume to wear to work actually. It's a nicely neutral sort of smell.

Wet: complex, woodsy and slightly astringent. The incense barely comes through. Dry: I'm still not getting leather, but the woodsy, spicy scent is nice. Kind of a warm, dry rosemary sort of smell. Verdict: I don't love it, but I certainly like it.

I love lilies of the valley and greeted their blooming with joy as a child. The lilies of the valley smell predominated on application. Unfortunately this perfume faded to nothing in under an hour, my skin just didn't hold onto it. Ah well, back to the drawing board, ah smelling lab, um . . . imp box?

I so wanted this one to work, based on the description, and it just didn't. I started off syrupy and rapidly faded to generic incense (a problem I seem to have a lot). Just not my cup of tea, ah rum, whatever.

Lascivious, flirtatious, and vampy as hell. A true heartbreaker's perfume. The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli. A sweet, strong smell that takes a while to fade. The orange is topmost, mostly as a sweetness, with patchouli playing a supporting role. The ginger starts to come out as it dries, and it becomes spicier, though the sweetness of the orange blossom continues to be topmost. Patchouli is only noticeable as a robustness to the scent that wouldn't be there otherwise; I can't really pick it out on its own.

Warm amber that is not cloying or sweet. Spice and musk notes start to appear and the whole scent is warm, and dry; definitely a confidently, lazy scent. Verdict: My favorite to date. I want a big bottle.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
jparrack replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
I have noticed that certain oils either give me a headache, or, in the case of Tintagel, an instantaneous rash which I needed to treat with immediate washing and antihistamine. I don't just mean some itching. I mean raised weals where I put the oil on my skin and silver dollar sized red, angry rash. I noticed an itch with All Night Long as well, though I had Benadryl in my system, so it likely didn't turn into a rash on me. Blood gave me a raging headache. I am keeping a googledoc spreadsheet of oils tried, descriptions and physical reactions in an attempt to isolate triggering notes. I've certainly had some good success with finding blends that don't set off my skin and/or headache reaction that I am determined to keep searching. I've avoided anything perfumey for so long because of these reactions, and now that I've found out there are scents I don't react too, I'm thrilled. I'll just keep the Benadryl handy when I try any new oil. Edit: Blood Countess and Tann'iver both gave me rashes too. -
This was on of the first oils I ever tried. While I can't say I loved the smell I kept coming back to it and reapplying it as it faded during the day. I don't think I'd want to wear it to bed because I enjoyed sniffing the changes on my skin too much. It went through distinct stages, much like sleep does. In the bottle: A clean scent, very herbal and slightly astringent. Wet on my wrist: Astringent and hebal. I couldn't tell you which herb, just that it smelled like good green stuff. Dry down: The herbal fades and cinnamon, of all things, comes to the fore and lingers about an hour. It eventually fades to a dried flower sort of smell. Verdict: It's so intriguing I'll keep it around to see if it does the same thing again at a different point in my cycle. The stages in this one were so distinct and different, I'll want to keep playing with it to see if it keeps doing the same thing.

Wet on me: cotton candy and caramel. Almost cloying in its sweetness. Dry down: vanilla cupcake for the next hour or so eventually fading to warm vanilla. Verdict: I'll keep the imp for when I want to feel like a child. The eventual hint of vanilla after an hour is pleasant and not so childlike. I never did get any hint of fruitiness.

Wet on my wrist: Incense, like a new age/ pagan/ crunchy granola hippie shop. The sandlewood is almost overpoweringly strong on me. Dry down:Incense for the next hour at least. Eventually it dies down to cedar incense with bare hints of amber. Verdict: not really my cup of tea until it fades down to a soft cedar and amber smell the hovers just above my wrist. I like the final result, but I'm not sure I want to put up with the strong assault on my nose until I get there.

I enjoyed the thick, sweet smell in the bottle, and wet on my skin clove and myrrh were most apparent. Unfortunately, this one gave me a headache within a half hour, so I couldn't tell you what it smelled like dry, and I won't be able to try it as a room fragrence.
