    Alien Invasion

At first it's a really sharp citrus - like, say, yuzu as opposed to just plain old grapefruit. There's also some kind of floral in there, which I think may be honeysuckle? I dunno, maybe I am on crack, but to me it is a lovely blend of yuzu (which softens up right away upon application) and honeysuckle. There is also something reminiscent of Snow White, in fact after awhile there was quite a strong resemblance, but without turning into dirt the way Snow White does on me. I love this stuff!!

    Tomoe Gozen Bath Oil

Something about a lot of the lab's honey blends smells almost lemony to my nose - I get zero fruitiness from the currants and a whole lotta very soft citrusy stuff from the honey. Nonetheless, it's gorgeous and definitely my favorite bath oil from the Trading Post thus far

    Templum Victoriae Atmospheric Spray

Resin Heaven...I can't put it any better than that

    Hermes Trimegistus v2

Lovely scent, in the bottle it's lavender incense; after 10 minutes or so on my skin it's allll myrrh. I mean, it's a dead ringer for a bottle of myrrh oil I have, but better quality. Delicately sweet and mildly incense-like, it's very nice and reminiscent of a MUCH softer, simpler Schwarzer Mond.

    Fig

VERY sweet and juicy...and makes me realize that Gomorrah smells like Fig SN on me A lovely scent, and lasts for hours. Sweet, Juicy, a wee bit musky but not, and a teensy bit earthy.

    June Gloom 2009

Right out of the bottle it's floral like whoa - no citrus at all. But after it dries on my skin I keep getting whiffs of what has to be mimosa. I'm probably wrong but that's what I keep smelling. After I've had it on for several hours I get the scent impression of "damp pavement with flowers growing through the cracks," not a bit unpleasant. There is some note in a ton of the Lab's scents that ends up smelling "dirty" or "muddy" on me - Snow White is the biggest culprit. This scent does it too, but to a lesser degree, and somehow it is appropriate and nice mingled amongst the flowers Very nice summer floral.

    Bat of Wealth

On me this is straight up blackberry and pomegranate with just a teensy bit of patchouli in the background. Like, just barely a hint - enough that I know it's there, but not enough to be a major player. The heliotrope didn't come out to play at all for me, and the bergamot emerged after the first half hour or so to cut through the berry sweetness. It was much more similar to Bat of Virtue than I thought it would be, but just different enough to be its own scent As with the other bats, I found this didn't have much throw or staying power. I think Virtue lasted the longest.

    Strawberry Moon 2009

Right out of the bottle this smells like the strawberry bubblegum I used to chew in great wads as a little kid, very sugary and artificial (but definitely not unpleasant). That phase fades pretty quickly, however, and it becomes a fresher, truer strawberry scent, complete with leaves and stems. Overall it's very nice and I like it far better than the original. It does have very little throw and lasting power, though

    Oisin

Gorgeous soft musk; the color I picture in my head is a very soft light brown, like a deer. Which makes sense, given his story I don't really get any florals or herbs, just that light sweet musk which manages, somehow, to have very nice throw without being headache-inducing. The magic really happens after I've had it on for awhile...it becomes the most lush, warm musk I have ever sniffed and I am SO delighted to have gotten my hands on a bottle of this. It is the scent that, more than any other, complements my skin perfectly, the olfactory equivalent of slipping your hand into a supple leather glove. I adore it.

    Shadow Witch Orchid

Gorgeous deep, dark floral. Never too sharp, but it does have an edge. I definitely get "orchid" from this (although frankly I've never had an orchid that smelled like anything) - it paints a picture in scent, all dark reds and purples It has AMAZING throw and lasts forever. One of my favorites now, for sure

    Imp

Exceedingly heavy, indolent peach incense. It's very dark and spicy with just a hint of peach - like flashes of brilliant light amidst pitch black. It's gorgeous and sexy, and is my husband's new favorite on me. I have to be careful because it has crazy strong throw and lasts ages, so if I use too much it's headache city. It definitely packs a punch and is the only "dirty" fruit scent I've liked so far.

    Judith and Holofernes

Hands-down my favorite scent in the catalogue. Beautiful, lush, dark...I find the patchouli to be super prominent in fresh bottles, but once it's aged a bit it rounds out very nicely and really blends well with the other notes. On me it's all sweet patchouli and honey, no florals. My husband says it smells like "idealized body odor," which coming from him is a compliment

    Intergalactic

    Bright-ass screaming floral hell

    White Rose

It really is the same vanilla tea in Dorian, but waaaay creamier to my nose. The coconut is just barely there to give a hint of depth, and it's very close to if not the same coconut that is in Tiki King. Beneath the tea and coconut there is the weeist whiff of soft, white rose. It's delicious and light and sweet all at the same time, and not a bit foodie. Now, I hadn't even considered layering it with Red... *sprints off to layer*

    Red Rose

I don't get any rose, really...it's like Schwarzer Mond's slightly sweeter, more voluptuous and inviting little sister - the one who puts out A lovely sultry incense scent, it truly is the sum of its parts. I was not expecting to like this at all, as I generally don't like rose and I hate tonka, but I can't pick out either. It's just amazingly well-blended and beautiful.

    Giant Vulva

Absolutely gorgeous skin scent. Right out of the bottle I get skin musk and a light citrusy something or other - copal? And then it all melds together on my skin into a sweet, slightly musky incensey floral, without being overtly floral. If Snake Oil is sexy black leather and a whip, Giant Vulva is nothing at all - the sexiest outfit of them all

    Snake Charmer

Resurrected version: Fruity snake oil, smells exactly like Australian Copperhead when it dries down. Lovely, but not quite what I was expecting.

    The Magi

The Magi is straight-up Chanel No. 5 on me, but much more soft and wearable. Maybe it's the ambergris. I'm undecided on whether or not to buy a bottle, but it is quite nice.

    GOP

To me this smells like staid, stiff old men. It's a little woody, a little boozy, and ends up going super sweet on me, to the point of being cloying. Like the real GOP, it's just not for me

    Independent

The Independent Party smells like sparkling, lemony cola. It's delicious, and goes nowhere near "lemon pledge" territory. It's interesting, when I sniff it, the first thing my brain goes to is "lemon" but immediately after it has that fizzy coca-cola scent/feel. I mean, it smells like it's fizzy! On drydown it's less lemony and more like sweet woods with a touch of lemon balm. Absolutely lovely and I adore it!

    Frau Holle

Generally I amp pine like a mofo, and this year's Yules aren't working out so well for me in that regard. BUT, Frau Holle is one exception. There's definitely pine, but it doesn't overpower the musk or sweetness, especially after a few minutes of wear. I don't think I'll buy a bottle due to budget constraints, but it's a lovely scent all the same and I'm glad to have the decant.

    Litha 2006

Litha is wonderful - gorgeous verbena underscored by lush florals and honey. It has amazing throw and lasts forever. To me, this is femininity in a bottle.

    Venom

Good godamighty, this is gorgeous. Normally I don't like jasmine or florals in general, but this is just so smooth and lovely. Somehow the jasmine and resins blend and smell like the most perfect tuberose ever, another one I generally don't like. I get none of the lime, just lovely, round florals.

    The Unheavenly City

I was lucky enough to get this as a frimp in a swap because I'd been dying to try it for ages. First sniff: cloyingly, disgustingly sweet. Gardenias, but spicier. Not the straight "pot of boiling sugar" scent that I associate with real gardenias. Gardenia and dragon's blood, likely. on my skin: even more cloying and sickly. It's both lovely and oppressive at the same time, like funeral flowers. I suspect the cloying aspect is due to lotus, which I simply cannot abide. I never wear sweet scents, and this is something that I can't tolerate on my skin or anywhere near me, really. I don't know that I want to swap it though because I love the concept and because I find myself taking a whiff of the imp every now and then - it's somehow compelling even if I can't wear it.

    Lilith Victoria

This is a really lovely scent, more snake oil than dorian to me (though I've never smelled dorian). However, I get no lavender or fennel or tea...what it smells like more than anything to me is a mixture of the vanilla and amber oils I bought from C.O. Bigelow a few years ago and would wear together. Lovely, seductive, but not too heavy.
