  1. In the bottle: dirty goodness.

Skin: Wet. The scent of deep, brown, wet earth full of decaying organic matter, almost like a garden in New Orleans that has gone to seed.

Skin: Dry. Still mostly a dirt scent. Usually rose is amplified on my skin but in this blend it smells more like dust.

Verdict: I like this a lot. Such an uncommon scent. I like to mix it with the different rose blends to amp the rose in Zombi. I put this my mineral deodorant spray, I find the scent balances out body odor really well. I have been meaning to buy a big bottle of this for while.

  2. In the bottle: Smells sunny and bright.

Skin: Wet. OOh! So green and citrus!

Skin: Dry. Such a lovely citrus smell. I can also smell a really nice woody note, like a fresh green pine or fir tree.

I like this lot. Fresh and cooling, it is a perfect summer scent. I hope it is eventually released!

  3. Source: Bought at Alterative Realities in Rhode Island. It has a "Twilight Alchemical Laboratory" label. Cool, huh?

In the bottle: I can't smell much. There is a little of spice wafting my way.

Skin: Wet. Cinnamon! Bursting with Cinnamon goodness, like expensive fresh grown Cinnamon.

Skin: Dry. As it dries, more of the clove emerges in the blend. I really like the way this smells when dry, a perfect spice.

This is a warming blend that I especially like to wear when sick with any kind of "wet" illness. I like to rub it on my throat and neck when congested. It doesn't last very long, but is great in my scent locket.

  4. A perfect scent. Totally unique and beautiful. My Mom liked it so much she requested her own bottle, which will be her first BPAL!

In the bottle: Sweet, floral scent. Rather different from most florals though. A very natural sweetness.

Skin: Wet. The woody notes come out when it first hits my skin. I can smell the maple the most and it is a great note to include in a perfume. My younger brother commented that I smelled "like maple syrup". To my nose, this isn't entirely inaccurate, but the sugar in the blend is from florals.

Skin: Dry. Ah! Now more the the wood notes emerge. I love this because because it is SO well blended- a unique floral and beautiful wood notes perfectly combined. Also, it stays true for several hours.

I love this. I want to like floral scents but they always sit in their bottles unworn. However, the combination of wood and florals is perfect, this blend is a keeper.

  5. Sadly, I recieved my imp in the mail a few days before Unseelie was D/C, else I would have a very large bottle of it.

In the bottle: small soft flowers and greenery. I wouldn't say the "green" was herbal, it is more like a lots of green things, flowers, grass, weeds, bushes growing in one spot.

Skin: Wet. Still a very green scent, less flowery.

Skin: Dry. Dry, Unseelie on my skin is almost exclusively musk and amber. It reminds me of Haunted a lot. On many people, this is a powdery smell, but on me it is lovely, almost a second skin. Sadly, i love it.

Will make a good perfume spray, making the most out of the imp I have.

  6. I ordered this scent because, well, who could resist such an awesome concept? And that it came with a little sticky brain makes it even neater. But I was really really scared about the jasmine in the blend. Jasmine does bad things on my skin and has ruined many a blend for me; I am hoping it doesn't ruin Mi-go.

In the bottle: Spicy 'n sweet.

Skin: Wet. There it is, the jasmine monster. At first, it is all I can smell.

Skin: Dry. Eventually the fruit notes emerge and balance things out! I don't really smell the musk at first and the pink pepper is among the missing as well. Oh well, it's still wonderful.

I feel like this would be the perfect blend for a hot, sunny, summer day. The fruit makes the blend cool and light. I think a cooling parfum spray is in the works!

  7. In the bottle- very pungent burn smell, like fresh wet ash. also a bit acidic.

Skin: Wet. At first Djinn is an herbal scent. I would compair it to the mugwort, an almost musky earth scent.

Skin: Dry. Smells like ash again. In particular, it smells like the ash of a pine or fir tree.

A good blend, and though I like woody scents a whole lot, it is not something I would wear much. Off it goes!

  8. In the bottle- woods! Pine! Fir tree! Woody scents are my favorite, so this scent is immediately on my good side.

Skin: Wet. Still woody, but with more dirt and moss (?- I don’t really know what moss smells like).

Skin: dry. Sadly, when the aquatic side of the scent comes out I like it a bit less. I think it will be a good locket scent, as aquatics don’t really work on my skin.

  9. Ah, Rose Red. I paid lots money after the fact for you, and you are worth every penny and more.

In the bottle- the perfect rose. It smells unbelievably fresh, and life-like. Tears worthy.

On my skin- At first, Rose Red does a very scary thing- it turns gasoline and is very very strong. It is almost an organic gasoline, almost fermented. I feel like this might be the “green” component of the blend. Eventually, the gasoline disappears balanced by a beautiful rose. To distinguish this from other rose blends, all I can say this that blends like Whip and 3,5,7 seem like lots and lots of roses packed into the oil, while Rose Red smells like a single, perfect rose held in your hand.

  10. first off :P joeuser. Too funny.

I can't add much to the reviews of this scent, because it smells just like Beth's description. I can't believe how good Beth is a what she does. Inspiring, I tell you. My love for this scent was a perfume turning point for me, the moment when I knew something about my tastes I did not know before; I freaking love masuline scents. This is a dry, dusty rawhide, amazingly true to life. It's really comforting and grounding on me- I was lobbying at my statehouse a few weeks back and stuck with only my bottle of DMH for scent. It wasn't exactly my first choice, but it really pulled through- I was cool and collected through out the day.

    Love it!

  11. First, a gift imp in a swap, then a bottle from a forumite.

When I open the bottle and when the oil first hits my skin, I get a lot of green pine. It’s so bright, almost citric. As it dries, the juniper note becomes more prominent. There is another woody note in the mix too, which I assume is the rosewood (I wish I had a single note of this- it is in many of my favorite blends- but I still don’t really know what it smells like). After a while, these woody notes fade into the background, and it becomes a second skin-musk type of scent, which I love love love. I miss the vanilla note in the blend entirely in the bottle version which I did smell in the imp, but I suspect that the bottle is a couple of months old (it still has the protective covering on the label)- perhaps it faded in to the background with age.

Definitely not too masuline for me!

  12. What a lovely scent. :P

In the bottle, I can’t smell much of anything.

On my skin, it is mostly a beautiful, wet rose. Like Rose Red, but less green and even wetter to my nose. On me, I get no soapyness at all, which is a good thing. :D

The leather is definitely a undertone in the blend. It is present though and balances the blend nicely. A very sexy blend, perfect a night on the town.

ETA: i think this scent would go great with Dead Man's Hand!

  13. In the bottle: light florals, and a hint of something darker, woody; but is not yet a prominent note.

first application- aquatic, floral scent. Ok, but this combination is not one of my fav.

second application- for fun, i gave the bottle a roll between my hands, to give the oils a chance to mix. As I hoped, the mixing changed the scent a lot. Now I get more Pine/Green wood mixed with the aquatics and floral. Which is exactly the way i like them. The notes balance and compliment each other really well. After the mix, it has become one of my favorite blend. Beautiful!
