A salacious, lecherous, leering scent - dirty and dark, slapped with a wet sweetness. Earthy black patchouli swelling with apricot. Hrm. I'll be honest, I'm not a huge patchouli fan, but I do love apricot! Hmm..in the imp I pretty much only smell patchouli =/ If you didn't tell me there was apricot in this, I wouldn't have even known. Hopeully it comes out more on my skin. Harumph, on my skin it's still pretty much just patchouli. There was a tiny moment where I got the apricot, but this is like 99% patchouli...actually goes a bit pencil-shavingsy on me =/ Yeah, I never really got apricot in this and on full drydown it pretty much went straight pencil shavings Patchouli just never works as a main note on me.

In the imp, to me, this is mostly woods and juniper. Oof-on my skin this goes sharp for a moment and then settles-I do get more of the floral notes once this is actually on my skin-sweet florals, juniper, and woods. Very sweet. They blend together well though. As it dries, it starts to get a bit powdery and more floral-I actually start to lose the wood notes, which is weird because normally I amp woods like crazy. Still very sweet. However, on drydown this goes SUPER duper sweet powdery. I pretty much lose all the notes and just get sweet powder :[ This was a nice juniper/woods/floral scent but if you powderize things like me, this may be a no go.

Ugh, this is so sexy. I'll admit-I have been a fan of bpal for *years* and I *FINALLY* get Snake Oil. For years I just didn't get it-I don't know what changed but now I have seen the light. And this blend is just sex on top of more sex. Like two of bpal's greatest blends-O and Snake Oil-put together like peanut butter and jelly. It's just a perfect combo. Sweet, sticky honey drenched over sexy spicy snake oil. A total winner.

    The Lady of Shalott

The scent of calm waters just before a raging storm, limned with achingly-beautiful blooms, an icy scent, but somehow warm, and mirror-bright: bold gardenia, crystalline musk, muguet, water blossoms, clear, slightly tart aquatic notes and a crush of white ginger. Oh, this is so pretty in the imp! Crystalline is such a perfect word to describe it-very light and white-sometimes I find aquatics to be too sharp or salty, but I don't find that to be the case here. And I am totally digging the white ginger note. It is definitely a bit sharper/saltier on my skin. Tart aquatic is a good way to describe it. The gardenia also comes out a lot stronger as well. Meh, I am just not a fan of salty aquatics-in the imp it was more of a white floral/ginger musky scent, on my skin it is more of a salty aquatic floral. Ended up drying to a soft white floral with just a pinch of aquatic. Definitely a bit powdery. Pleasant, but nothing really stands out about this blend. If you are looking for a subdued white floral/aquatic scent I would recommend this.

    The Lotus Tree

Oh yes-definitely honey in this-honey with something more dark and sinister underneath-maybe a bit incensey? On my skin this is definitely still a lot of honey, over something sort of herbal/piney. Or maybe floral? I dunno...it's very hard to tell exactly what's there. Yeah, definitely florals. Also, a touch powdery to me. Hopefully wont dry too powdery. Honestly, this sort of just ended up drying to a a pleasant, but unexciting honey on me. Didn't go too powdery. Pretty much just light honey with maybe a touch of something green/herby? Nice, but there are just too many other bpal honey blends I love for this to be something I would purchase.

    Jabberwocky

An earthy yet buoyant scent: pine, eucalyptus and orange. Hrm...orange is really the only note I like in this when I read the description. In the imp, this is totally a pine/eucalyptus scent. Yep. Pretty much spot on. Oof-very sweet and sappy on my skin-like pine sap, pine, and eucalyptus. Still don't really notice the orange. Maybe just a touch. Definitely sweet sticky sap in there. I feel like you should rub this blend on your chest when you have a cold or something. That fizzy/menthol-y feeling goes away on full drydown and I get sort of a soft pine scent. Kinda lose the eucalyptus as well. I'll be honest, I never would have known there was orange in this blend without seeing the description. However, if you like pine and eucalyptus, this is worth checking out.

    Gingerbread Poppet Soap

This is a very yummy soap indeed-it's different than the perfume in my opinion-less straight actual fresh from an oven gingerbread and more gingerbread inspired. It's a bit sweet, a bit spicy, warm and gingery, and definitely more than a little foody. I will say, for some reason I think the villainess soap base is maybe a bit more pronounced here than in other bpal/villainess soaps-I don't know how to describe the scent, but I'm sure other villainess soap users know what I'm talking about-it's not bad, just noticeable. In terms of quality of the product as a soap, it's consistent and lovely as always-I never get a really thick foamy lather from Villainess, but the luxurious, creamy lather feels wonderful on my skin, and is never drying. The same is true with this soap-a very silky lather. Overall, not my favorite bpal soap (I think plastic jack o lantern still holds that title), but I definitely recommend this soap to foodies. It's not a straight up gingerbread poppet scent like the perfume, but if you liked gingerbread poppet, I cannot imagine you won't like this soap!

    Florence

Huh-I could have sworn I reviews this eons ago but apparently not! In the imp, this smells like a velvety, spiced woody scent. I don't see wood in the notes, but this is definitely woody to my nose. A little sweetness-probably the berries. Pleasant, but woods tend to amp on me so I'm not sure how this will go on my skin. There's something about this that is quite regal. On my skin, it's definitely still a woody scent, polished and clean, but a bit sweet and spiced. Though, as this dries on my skin there is sort of a weird undertone...I can't place it-this happens sometimes and i've never figured out what note it is. It's almost chloriney...however it fades fast. I can definitely notice the amber in this when it's on my skin...I have the feeling it will turn the blend powdery on me as amber tends to do. The more this dries, the more deep and woodsy it smells. O_o Doesn't go powdery/ambery and I don't get berries at all. It's sort of a musky dark wood scent... On full full drydown the amber finally gets the better of this blend and I end up with a sweet powdery wood scent. Not what I expected at all from this blend ]:

    The Queen of Hearts

Oh, this is lovely in the imp-soft sweet candy cherry over lily! Cherry sometimes goes a bit weird on me-I hope it doesn't do that here! Oh, this is quite lovely! Lily lovers, you HAVE to check this out-it is mostly fresh lily with just the teensiest touch of cherry. I could smell the cherry in the imp but on my skin, it really is just barely there. On full drydown, I pretty much lose the cherry altogether. I get a straight up lily scent, maybe a little soapy. I had actually quite liked that hint of cherry/sweetness and am sad it got eaten by my skin. It ended up being rather plain on me-however, if you are looking for a nice lily scent, I would definitely recommend testing this blend out.

    The Robotic Scarab

Ugh, ok, based on the notes in this I would not normally go for it, but in the imp this smells desperately sexy. I've been dying to try this imp forever-I still remember sniffing it at will call when it was first released and going DAMN. It's like unf sexy metallic cologney goodness. I normally hate leather but it doesn't bother me in this blend at all. We'll see how it goes on my skin though... Nggh, I wish I could get my boy to wear bpal because I think this would smell so sexy on him-it's like a sexy clean metallic scent cologne-the star anise is just perfect in this. The frankincense/leather give this a dark, mysterious edge. Sometimes the leather smells a bit too strong, but mostly it behaves and doesnt go ashtray doom on me. I'm the kinda gal who likes to wear super girly scents-fruity, foody, light/bright florals. This isn't really a ~me~ scent, but it's just so rawr and sexy. I seriously cannot even imagine how hot this would smell on a guy. I really do love this blend-it dries down just as sexy-maybe a little more leathery but a crisp, clean leather...less cologney I would say. Maybe I'll try to nab a partial of this and beg the boy to wear it...

    Wilhelmina Murray

In the imp, this is a bit hard to get a handle on-its a sharp, bright floral. On my skin, this is a pleasant, slightly sweet floral, a bit powdery, and with an undertone of something darker-dark myrrh and musk. Unfortunately, on me this dried to sort of a bland, incensey floral. Not as complex as I had hoped. Not bad or unpleasant, just unremarkable and reminds me of other bpal blends I have tried and passed on.

    Manhattan

Ooo...I love Manhattan the place-so curious to try this blend. Hmm...there are nots in here I LOVE (mint, tea, grapefruit, lemon peel) and notes I really don't like (leather, kush (is that the same as khus? or am I thinking of something different). Weird-in the imp I pretty much JUST get grapefruit, white tea and lemon peel O_o No leather at all! Maybe a touch of orchid. Seriously, it feels like it is missing some notes O_o Even on my skin, I don't get ANY leather at all-just all of the other notes-this is sweet and bright and lovely. Really has no "edge" at all, which I would have expected from the leather. As it dries, it gets a bit soapy, though not unpleasantly so. I still can't believe there was leather in this. I never got it. It ended up drying to a light, sweet, slighly powdery citrussy floral soapy scent. Pleasant and enjoyable, but not a standout. No dark edge to this at all.

    Lear

In the imp, this mostly smells like cedar to me-which always sort of reminds me of pencil shavings... Oh yeah-this is super cedary/penvilshavingsy/hamster beddingy on me That's pretty much all I smell. Unfortunately, that is all I got on my skin and on full drydown. Just not for me.

    Aperotos Eros

Whoa-in the imp this is-dark-resiny-piney-yet sweet. Even the oil itself is dark. Interesting. Yes, this is sweet dark pine sap-insenscey and resiny. There is sort of a weird undertone to this-not quite sure what it is... On full drydown this is way more subdued. Pretty much a dark, lightly incensey, wood scent that is just a touch powdery. It loses its sappy sweetness and is way less resiny. It's pleasant, but not quite my thing.

    Morgause

In the imp, this is sort of a dusky jasmine/violet kind of scent. Purple is a good way to describe. Definitely get some incense in there. When it first goes on my skin it's a bit sharp-the violet pulls out in front of the jasmine, but its very heady. Verrry heady jasminey violety scent. Floral haters, beware! The incense is there, but this is not an incense blend, it is a floral blend that happens to have incense. Not really getting any fruit in this, at least none that I can pick out. This isn't even really a fruity floral to me. It is firmly in the floral category to my nose. As this dried it was a bit more violety I suppose. However, when it fully and completely dried down, it sort of disappeared. Now I can't even remember what it smelled like. This blend just wasn't for me.

    The Arabian Dance

Huh-in the imp this is sort of a weird scent-like, a very sharp, almost salty coffee scent-definitely get the hazelnut-don't quite notice the leather or tobacco but the undertones of this blend assure me they are there. Much better on my skin-less sharp-coffee and hazelnut are the most apparent notes-the leather sort of blends into the coffee scent, though as it starts to dry, the leather overtakes the coffee a bit so it's almost like...hazelnut scented leather. Very odd. A very odd combination. Don't notice the tobacco on its own, but it probably contributes to the dark edge to this blend. It's sort of like a black leather glad biker enjoying a hazelnut latte at Starbucks. Actually, as this dries the spices come out more-very nice! I actually think I like this blend best on full drydown-it sort of, all blends together for a rich warm, leather and spices type of scent. I don't usually like leather blends (they smell ashtrayish to be) but this is very wearable. On very full drydown it's sort of a warm, brown, spiced coffee/light leather mix. Sometimes I don't smell the leather at all, sometimes it's definitely there. Same with the coffee. Overall, I don't need a bottle of this. I LOVE the smell of coffee but I don't like smelling like it and leather just isn't my thing, but this is a very interesting, unique blend that I definitely enjoyed testing.

    Titus Andronicus

What an interesting combo of scents-I am honestly not sure what to expect! In the imp, this is mostly sandalwood and frankincense to me-also very musky. I do get a touch of bergamot, which is nice. I fear this blend will go super powdery on me though-amber and sandalwood usually tend to turn to powder on my skin. Huh-some note is going very weird on me-I think it's the dark musk or the black amber...it just smells sort of off on me-like...chloriney. It's very weird and the whole scent has a weird overtone of chlorine, which is too bad, because the rich frankincense would be lovely. I didn't get that weird note in the imp-just on my skin. Harumph...yeah, this ended up going super powdery as I expected-ended up being a sort of frankincense/sandalwood powder-I really did like the smell of this in the imp, but my skin just turned it into a disaster!

    Blood Countess

This has been on my list of stuff to try for a long time-sexy dark fruity floral? Yes please! I also tend to love the lab's plum notes. Oh yeah, this is sooo sexy in the imp-dark purple and black fruits, opium, and just the right amount of florals to keep this from being foody. I hope this goes well on my skin! Mmmm yes, sexy sexy sex. The black plum note is just SO good. It's like, a naughtier, darker cousin to bordello. Though, as it dries, it starts to go a bit weird-one of the florals is a bit too white-almost goes...ugh, minty isn't the word but I don't have a better one. It's a bit odd. But...it somehow works. The more I sniff this, even if it is a bit different on my skin than in the imp, the more I like it. In the end, this dried down to a deep dark plum scent, just a touch powdery (in a pleasant way) and well, I actually sort of lose the flowers in this oddly enough. During the drydown I could smell them more, but on full drydown they kind of went away. I am not sure I would need a bottle of this ONLY because it reminds me so much of a darker Bordello and I already have a bottle of that. I don't need both. But they are both wonderful and I had sniffed this one first I'm sure I would have bought it and said I don't need Bordello!

    The Sea Foams Milk

I'll have to be honest-milk notes worry me. They almost never work on my skin. However, it's bpal, so you never know! Sniffing from the imp this is mostly salty cologney aquatic-I actually don't even notice the milk note (and usually it hits me in the face)-it just appears to add a pleasant creaminess to this blend. Yeah, this is not the usual milk note-This blend is still mostly salty salty aquatics, with a creamy light milky note overlaying it. The two very different kinds of notes go well together actually. This still isn't my thing, but it is really an amazing combination of two very different scents. This is just part of the genius of Beth! I really do feel like this kind of blend could have been a disaster in less capable hands. I actually am enjoying this more as it dries-the overwhelming saltiness calms down a bit, and the mild milk note comes out a bit more. Such an odd combo but they really do work well together. This fully dries down to a soft cologney-light milk scent. It really isn't something I would actually wear, but it is so unique and wonderfully blended. Everyone should try it just to enjoy Beth's artistry.

    Halloween: New Orleans

I've never been to New Orleans in Autumn, so I won't be able to compare this to the real thing! But this is beautiful in the imp-very sweet bright light yellow floral-I can see where others are getting a lemony scent or light olive oil. Really beautiful. Oh wow, this is so gorgeous on my skin-a sort of bright lemony floral-though as it starts to dry there is an odd note underneath...I don't want to say chloriney, but just...a little off-from far away this smells beautiful but up close it is a bit weird...Yeah, this scent confuses me...if it wasn't for that weird undertone of something this would be so phenomenal on me! It's hard to find a lemony floral that doesn't go Pledge-y and this stays on the right side of that line. Grr...I wish I knew what note was going weird on my skin-this happens sometimes and I still haven't pinpointed what does it. Unfortunately, that weirdness really put me off-I can see this being SO gorgeous on some people, but some note in there just went weird on my skin. Also, my skin ate up most of the scent when this fully dried down. So lovely in the imp, but unfortunately just not for me

    Helena

Hmm...I can already fear based on the notes that is the kind of blend that will go powdery on me. Amber is a huge culprit of powdery doom on me... In the imp this is very pretty-I mostly get the rose amber and white rose-maybe a teensy touch of water lily, but I actually don't really get any jasmine, which is odd, because I feel like jasmine is usually a very in your face, hard to miss note. Super pretty and soft in the imp. It goes a bit sharp/salty on my skin (water lily, I'm looking at you) but is still mostly the rose amber/white rose notes. Smells much stronger on my skin than it did in the imp. Rose sometimes goes weird on me, and this one does go a little weird. The weirdness fades pretty quickly though, and I end up with a lovely rose amber scent/white rose scent. I don't notice the water lily anymore and even more surprisingly, I swear I don't smell any jasmine in this at all O_o Just rose amber/white rose. Light pink and pretty to me. Pretty much stays the same on full drydown. Maybe get a touch more ambery/powdery. This is a very nice rose/amber scent. I have other bpal gc rose scents that are higher on my wishlist, but this is a very lovely blend. Jasmine haters shouldn't worry-I seriously id not get jasmine in this at all. O_o And jasmine lovers, this is probably not going to wow you if you are looking for jasmine!

    Muse

In the imp, this is a very heady floral (omg tuberose and jasmine) mixed with bright fresh lime. Very interesting scent on my skin-I would never have though to add ZOMGLIME to heady florals like that, but they actually go together pretty well. I know this is billed as a "light" scent, but to me it is a heavier floral-mostly jasmine and tuberose (lotus gets pretty eaten up) and fresh bright lime. It's hard to describe how the notes mix together, but they really do all go together well. On full drydown this is a slightly powdery jasmine scent with a touch of lime-much lighter and less zomg heady/heavy, but a bit too powdery for me. Overall, I really liked this blend as it was wet/drying on my skin (that mix of florals and lime is just so unique and lovely), but it's initial application scent and full drydown scent just are not for me. Great blend though that I think is totally worth trying, just for how wonderfully the florals and lime go together!

    Treatsy Bath Oil

To me, this is deliciousness and magic and win. It just smells SO good. I just took a bath with it and it is such a happy and joyful scent. I now have my new pick-me-up bath! It smells how it sounds-sweet, tart lemon drops and sugary apple candy. To me, there is nothing fake or plasticky about this candy scent. I did not have to use very much in the tub for a deliciously fragrant bath and smooth silky water. Out of the bath my skin is just lightly scented like sugar and super soft. Absolute LOVE!

    Nefertiti

Very pleasant in the imp-warm iris and a smattering of herbs. Not really noticing the sandalwood tbh, though I tend to amp woods on my skin. Oooof, on my skin I get a BLAST of something sharp and herby, but it quickly starts to mellow as it dries on my skin. Then I get that nice warm iris again-sweet and a bit powdery. I am hoping this doesn't dry too powdery on my skin. Ok, this is beautiful on me! Sweet iris, with a touch of herbs and myrrh. There's a bit of sandalwood in there, but I'm not amping it for once and I'm not getting powdery doom! Almost feels a touch golden to me. As it continues to dry though it starts to go wayyy powdery. Like, 85% sweet powder I think I got maybe a half hour before powder set it. I really enjoyed this blend for its first thirty minutes, but unfortunately, my skin just powderizes it. So lovely wet though, and I am so glad I got to test it!

    Golden Priapus

Hmm-I am so curious about this blend-I love vanilla, juniper is hit or miss, pine/woods are sort of meh, and amber is HUGELY hit or miss because sometimes it just goes straight powdery on me. In the imp this smells very nice and very much what I would expect-sweet but not too sweet vanilla, juniper, and a touch of pine. Sort of a sexy vanilla xmas tree? Yep, on my skin this is a DELICIOUS vanilla, mixed with just the right amount of juniper and pine. Not really getting rosewood and definitely don't notice amber...will have to see if this goes powdery on me. This really smells great through...sweet vanilla/juniper goodness. I think it sort of ended up reminding me a little bit of a juniper-y version of Love's Philosophy without the sassafras. Very very yummy. If I didn't already have a lot of vanilla blends I could see grabbing a bottle of this. It actually never turned into sweet powdery doom, which is awesome. A wonderful vanilla GC blend that could work on a man or a woman.
