    Sugar Skull

Vibrant with the joy and sweetness of life in death! A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits. This review is for the '05 version. This smells very yummy in the bottle-mostly like super sweet brown sugar. It's a little maple-y but not too much so. I'm not really getting any of the fruit smell yet, but hopefully that will come out on my skin. Honestly though, if it smells as good on my skin as it does in the bottle, i'll be sold. Oh mah gawd, it's even BETTER on my skin. There's something a little spicy under all that sugar! Very rich and sweet-but not sickening saccharine. I want to gnaw on my arm, it's that good! The best way I can describe this is like brown sugar on steroids. No fruit in this for me, but still a definite WIN!

*hack* Reallllly strong incense with a smack of patchouli in the imp. REALLLLLY strong. On my skin this is like stale smoke-the kind that gets stuck on your clothes and hair after being in a really smoky bar all night. Once in a while I'll get a little whiff of that purple-y wine-y grape smell ( which I actually find really nice), but just barely. I just can't get past the patchouli/smokey smell covering it up. Not for me!

    Croquet

The only note I'm really worried about in here is the patchouli...thankfully, I can't really notice it in the imp. It's a bright fruity citrus! Yum! If it smells as good in the imp as it does on my skin, then I'm sold. Eh. On my skin it's a bit sour...I forgot that this had rose in it, which tends to go a bit stinky sour on my skin... Yeah, this goes totally weird on me during drydown. I don't think it's the patchouli-I'm going to blame either the musk or the rose. It kind of goes away on full drydown, but then I'm just left with a light powdery barely-there citrus that isn't worth the funky stage. I think this would be a fun pinky-earthy-citrus blend on someone else, but it isn't a good match for my skin chemistry.

This is yummy warm nutmeggy pumpkin in the imp. It's not as sweet as I imagined-more spicy-but not as much clove as I had expected and very very buttery. I seriously think I'm crazy because on my skin this gets a bit...herbal...it almost reminds me of Pumpkin IV, so much infact that I had to sniff them side by side to make sure my decant wasn't a mix up! Overall this was a disappointment. A little too buttery, a little too green...not enough sweetness or nutmeg...definite pass for me.

    Hellcat

Mmm. This is so yummy in the imp. Creamy hazelnut and sweet spicy rum. I'm a foodie, so this is right up my alley. Mm, there's something a bit naughty in this that keeps it from being too saccharine sugary sweet. Warm and delicious...oh man, I am falling in love. The only downside of it so far is that I've noticed a bit of a prune-y undertone. It's not terrible, just a bit odd. Also, I wish the rum was toned down just a bit, because I lose a bit of the nuttiness as it dries down. Overall, this blend has made it's way to my wishlist. On full drydown it loses those odd notes, and is just rummy creamy yumminess.

    Kataniya, the Clockwork Woman

Mmm. I love this in the imp. A bit cologne-y, but still feminine...a badass floral. Girly but powerful. A little tangy, a little seductive, a little mysterious...I really like this. I hope it goes well on my skin... Ahhh. Wonderful! I think this is one of the sexiest bpals ever. Gets a bit more metallic as it dries, but not unpleasantly so-I never thought I would enjoy a metallic so much. Makes me even more excited to try the Steampunks. I will definitely need a bottle of this before CD goes away. I don't imagine I would wear it that much-it's definitely too strong for work or daytime as an everyday scent, but when I want to feel intense and tough and sexy, I will reach for it

    Slobbering Pine

Ack. In the imp this is a sweet sticky smelling pine-a bit reminiscent of the dreaded pine-sol, but not terrible. Blehhhh, very pine-sol-y on my skin. There's kind of two layers of this-a realistic live pine smell underneath a top layer of a sickly sweet piney lemony cleaner. VERY strong. Blehhhh. Then thirty minutes later it's practically gone. Weird. Not for me.

    New Orleans

Hehe, when I pulled this frimp out of my bag after will call my boyfriend, who lived in New Orleans for 3 1/2 years during college) affectionately joked that it would smell like stale vomit and chlamydia JK NOLA, WE LUV YOU! In the imp-wow-this is the perfect representation of florals on a humid night. The way Beth has captured humidity here is remarkable. I feel like I'm gonna start sweating any minute just by sniffing it! Whew, it's quite strong on my skin. The smell of honeysuckle and jasmine through hot, thick, humid night air. The florals start to get a bit stinky and sour on my skin, unfortunately. Especially the honeysuckle. O_< Bleh, as it dries down it loses that interesting humidity note, and just becomes super strong stinky florals. The kind that gives me a headache! >_O This is not for me at all, but I am so glad I tried it, especially because that first sniff and the first few moments on my skin were such an interesting olfactory experience!

    Cairo

The essence of holy Kyphi, beloved incense of the Egyptian Gods. I don't get the citrus in this that a lot of the other reviewers seem to get. In the imp this is like honey and incense to me. Honey I love, but incense and I don't always get along, so I am curious to see how this will be on my skin. Ok, on my skin I start to get a bit of that citrus mixed with the honey and incense. Hmm...this reminds me of something, but I can't place what. It's almost like a strongly incensed honeyed Lemony Flutter (the Lush product). Weird...I hated the smell of Lemony Flutter, so the comparison is turning me off. I am going to wait to see how this fully dries. It gets more and more lemony as it dries... Blech. Yeah, this morphs bigtime from the original imp scent and dries super-pledge lemony. No go for me.

    Whitechapel

I really like this in the imp. It's a blast of bright yellow citrus. I don't smell anything corrupted, hideous, or soulless in this! On my skin this smells like a lemondrop martini. Yum! Not pledge lemon at all! The musk and lilac and lime help save it from that. The ONLY downside to this is that the fresh citrus gets eaten REALLY fast by my skin. This is one I would need to slather and slather to keep it at it's best, though it's full drydown is still a nice pleasant light musk with a drop of citrus. I'm not RUSHING to get a bottle of this, but I wouldn't be sad if one fell into my lap

    Clio

In the imp this is allll patchouli patchouli patchouli. Maybe a little bit of citrus, but none of the other notes are noticeable. Ok, on my skin actually the lavender starts to peek out, which is very nice. It's now kind of a dusty patchouli lavender mix with a hint of citrus. This is best on full drydown. It's a pleasant lavender earthy wood scent, but unfortunately I amp the wood too much. I can see this being lovely on someone else though.

    Alecto

Oh gawd, I know this is going to be doom on me. I can't stand vetiver and any wood scents amp like me on crazy. But I must try everything so here goes... In the imp all I smell is wood. Fresh cut wood. Gah, on my skin it turns to wood shavings. Kind of reminds me of a hamster cage O_o Yep, that's what it smells like. Not for me at all!

    Opuhi

Upon first sniff of this from the bottle I knew it would be love. Beautiful soft vanilla ginger. I am so happy this doesn't go plastic-y on me at all. It's a slightly creamy vanilla mixed with a light sweet ginger-not too spicy or strong for this blend. Perfect! I can tell this is going to be a summer favorite of mine and a staple for my Hawaii trip in the fall!!! I CAN'T STOP SNIFFING MY WRIST!

    Beaver Moon 2007

I got a sniffie of this in a swap and immediately had to get myself a bottle. This smells like cherry cheesecake ice cream at first sniff. Delish! At first on my skin it is a little too sharp-almost like a maraschino cherry smell. DAMN. There is some kind of weird note that goes all funky and sour and yucky on me. NOOOOO It takes about a half hour to fade! And when it does, the blend smells kind of dusty...kind of a dull cherry dusty smell. NO NO NO. I am sooo disappointed! I blame my stupid skin! Maybe I'll try this again at a different time of month. Right now, it looks like a no-go

    Shango

In the imp, this smells just like a banana Now 'n Later candy. Yummy and fruity, but it may be a little candy-ish even for me! Yeah...darn, all I get is an artificial banana candy smell and maybe a teensy bit of red apple! I was sure I was going to love this one but right now it's just meh. I'm going to give it a bit more time to morph... Nope, on drydown it turns flat and powdery and kind of stale smelling I'm sure this would be an awesome blend on some people, but it was a dud for me!

    Pumpkin V (2007)

In the imp, I just get pumpkin. Where are all of those other notes? I get a teeny whiff of citrus at the end of my sniff, but that's it! Luckily, this starts to really morph on my skin...I get the citrus, a little vanilla, then the ginger...then, I swear, it's like a Pumpkin version of Teenage Cannibal. Like Teenage Cannibal at Halloween instead of Valentine's Day O_o The citrus and ginger are EXTREMELY similar to Teenage Cannibal. Very nice! I still prefer the tartness of TC over this blend so I don't need to find a bottle, but this is a very lovely and creative blend using pumpkin! Hours later this blend is still going strong. Great lasting power. On drydown the vanilla comes out more, the citrus fades, and it gets a bit powdery, but it still smells lovely! I would definitely recommend this blend!

    Peitho

In the imp this is STRONG jasmine. It is by far the strongest note on first sniff. On my skin the sandalwood starts to come out which is unsurprising because I amp anything -wood. This scent is very strong and almost pungent. All I get is jasmine and sandalwood...no vanilla and no clove ): I like jasmine, but it was far too overwhelming in this blend. This wasn't a bad blend, it was just too strong for me and didn't go well with my skin chemistry.

    Osun

This was very herbal in the imp. I couldn't even notice the honey at all. On my skin, it stayed very herbal. I could get little hints of honey, but this was really an herbal blend, not a sweet one. I love the some of the labs other honey blends because I'm a foodie, but if you prefer a more green scent, this would probably be a good honey blend for you.

    Eris

The first blast of this is very sweet fruits, kind of like watermelon candy. Very yummy! But unfortunately, it has this weird undertone that ruins it for me. I'm not sure what note it is, but it smells like bad breath to me. On my skin it loses all of that yummy sweet fruitiness, and turns to a sour floral mess.

    Elegba

This is an excellent blend. I was a little worried about the tobacco, but save for a few whiffs of some weird undertone, I really didn't notice it at all and I think it kept the blend from being sickeningly sweet. I love coconut and I love rum, so I had a feeling I would like this blend. It really smells absolutely delicious. It's a great unisex scent, not too sweet, not too boozy, not too smoky, mmmm! (Though it does get a bit sugary on full drydown). This smells like something I'd want to drink at a beach bar! A great summer blend! I would like a bottle of this one day for sure (but first I have to make my way through those Tiki LES!!!)

    Strangler Fig

This is a very earthy scent in the imp. Deep, a bit spicy and woody. I amp anything wood like crazy, so when I put this on I get almost all wood and just a teensy hint of the fig. As it dries though, that sweet meaty fig note comes out. I really really like the lab's fig note! Delicious! But for me, this blend will not work, because the fig note is still too much covered up by that woody note, which takes over again on full drydown. I will have to search to see the lab's other blends containing fig, I'm sure I will love it in a foodier context...

    Squirting Cucumber

Okay, I need to preface this with the fact that I HATE cucumber. It's one of my least favorite foods. Seriously. Hate. But the lab frimped me this and I have to try everything. I can't help it. My conclusion is, that if you DO like cucumber, you will probably love this. If a cucumber could be sweeter and "juicy", this is how it would smell. Like other reviewers have said, it would be refreshing on a hot, humid day. Also, it has some intense staying power. I couldn't get it off! Not for me, but not a bad blend at all.

    Destroying Angel

This smells like soil. Like plucking a mushroom straight from the ground. I don't like dirt smells, but if I did, I think this would be high on my list. It doesn't have that sour smell that many other dirt-based blends have. It's rich and fresh and moist and a bit spicy. On full drydown though it kind of smells like...pot. And not the kind you plant flowers in... Not for me.

    Shadow Witch Orchid

This is a lovely orchid scent in the imp-unfortunately, as I predicted, this kind of floral just goes yucky on my skin. But for those who do well with orchid, I think this would be a perfect blend-a little smoky and a little sweet. Just not for me.

    Dian's Bud

I hated this. It smelled like sour cucumber and pencil shavings. Do not want.
