Lovely in the bottle-a dry, gingery, woodsy, fruity musk. I love the rice flower note and tea note. Every time I take a deep sniff I like it more and more. Hmm...interesting on my skin...a little hard to describe-more woody and citrus-y...but I think my skin is morphing this in a bad way...it almost smells...bubblegummy. O_o Which doesn't make a LICK of sense...it fluctuates between being that weird bubblegummy scent, and like those Botan rice candies with the edible paper. Damn, my chemistry is just really wrecking this...thankfully, on full drydown, it becomes lovely again, a sort of dry brown ginger skin musk with a hint of something creamy and fruity. Very beautiful. So I am torn...that wet on my skin scent is pretty wonky...but I love the bottle scent and the drydown scent. So I think I shall hold onto it and test it again later...it definitely has promise!

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

Oh, I am so excited to try this! I love Dorian, and I love earl gray...I think I love every note in here! Hopefully they blend well together! In the imp it's a bit...sharp. Some other review described it as acrid, and I can see why. Like Dorian that has turned...hmm... On my skin, this is Dorian's manly evil twin. Sharper and more cologney than Dorian. It was almost lovely for a moment, but onne of the notes in this, I can't tell which, is just a bit funky on me. Almost choriney or chemical-y. It really just goes all wrong and morphs very weirdly on my skin. I can see how on the right person, male or female, this could be a very sexed up evil Dorian cologne/tea rawr scent, but it just went odd on me!

    Boadicea Bath Oil

Ok, I knew this probably wouldn't be for me, but I couldn't resist trying anyways! I should start by saying that vetiver is my least favorite note, and I'm generally not a fan of patchouli and pine needle. That said, I kind of enjoyed this. In the imp, there was a super sweet blast of vanilla, paired with this scorched scent of pine needles and earth, with an undertone of vetiver. The scorched note was much stronger on my skin, so I suppose I would say my least favorite phase of this blend was the first moments on skin scent. A little piney and overwhelming. And I still don't like vetiver! However, unlike some of the other bath oils where the scent doesn't really wash off (I use these as moisturizers in the shower), for the most part this blend washed off after I rinsed off, leaving me with this barely there warm very sweet vanilla and pine scent that isn't half bad. I don't need a bottle of this, but I enjoyed testing my decant!

    Scherezade

I can't believe I have not tried this yet! I adore saffron and spice! Red musk is iffy, but I am very excited to try this! Hmm...in the imp this is mostly spices, a bit woody actually, with a bit of saffron. Not too much red musk on first sniff. Hmm...this reminds me of something else on my skin...but I cannot for the life of me recall what...isn't there another saffron and spice GC? On my skin, the red musk comes out quite a bit more. The mix of saffron and spice is actually quite lovely, less 'woodsy' than it was in the imp, and more with the Middle Eastern spices. Sort of incensey actually, sweet incense with saffron and spices. I don't really see myself RUNNING out to buy a bottle of this, but I enjoyed it very much, especially when I tested it a second time. A sexy incensey saffron blend, with spices and musk! If a bottle fell into my lap, I'd be sure to use it!

    Cupcake Spatter Pattern Analysis

Hmm...this is interesting...definitely not straight up cupcake when I sniff it from the bottle...like a white cupcake what is covered with cocoa powder instead of frosting. I definitely get a dustiness from this, as some other reviewers did. Yeah, this is not a straight up bakery foody scent on my skin. It's that white cupcake scent, with dry cocoa powder, something dusty, and something a little boozy. It's an interesting mix and a different take on cupcakes. This seriously kind of dries down to a dust and chocolate flavored cupcake. Or a vanilla cupcake covered in dust and chocolate. Or realllly dusty cocoa powder. It's odd. Normally I HATE dust, but I don't mind it here. I just still don't think I would ever wear this. I have other cakey/cupcakey blends that I love. But there is something really interesting about this, so I don't think i'll be able to let it go that easily. Maybe because it's not like the other foody blends I normally like, and is more tempered and unique. Really cool take on the scent and concept.

    Spellbound

Oooo, what a dark oil! In the imp I really get all three of the notes-rose, red musk, and amber. Amber worries me a lot because it tends to go powdery on me, and both rose and red musk are kind of hit or miss... Hmm...this is VERY red musky on me...I know some people really adore red musk, but it' s just not my favorite. 75% red musk, 20% rose, and 5% amber, though as it dries, the rose takes up a larger and larger portion of the percentage pie. It's a nice rose, not sour or funky. Overall, this is a powdery (thanks amber) red musk/rose scent. If you are a fan of red musk and rose, I HIGHLY recommend this blend. I'm not a huge red musk fan though, and there are other rose blends I like more, so this impy will be added to my swaps page!

    Templum Victoriae Atmospheric Spray

Ok...I am not sure how I'm going to feel about this...I enjoy most of the notes in this, especially frankincense in an atmospheric setting, and champaca...but I have a rather strong dislike of olive anything. We shall see... Ok, this is quite powdery in the air...amber always just seems powdery to me. This is mostly amber and beeswax, with a touch of frankincense. Soooo powdery to my nose! >_< I don't say this often, but I wish this was a bit darker and incensey and resiny! Yep, this ends up being the smell that most amber blends get on my skin. Sweet powder! Odd...will have to pass this along to someone who will enjoy it more!

    Vampire Tarot: The Fool

In the bottle, this is garden mint, as another reviewer said-straight up fuzzy mint leaves freshly plucked, with soft, wet dirt still stuck to them. This is more dirt smelling than I remember from the proto, which as me a bit worried. Dirt isn't really my thing... On my skin I get that tingly mint smell...like when I sniff Grr. Very soothing. It's not too dirt-y actually...the earthiness is THERE, but it is not overwhelming the mint. The mint is by far the star of the show. And seriously, this is straight up omg fuzzy mint leaves straight from the garden. Dead on. Seriously. Beth NAILED that scent like whoa. Like many mint scents though, this faded SUPER fast, leaving my hand smelling like it needs some dirt washed off of it! Honestly, I don't think I want to smell like fuzzy garden mint leaves, but if you do, omg you need to get this. I'm not sure I'll be able to part with the bottle though...I have the Comic-con special bottle and the art is so gorgeous!

    Seraglio

Ooooh yummy! This is mostly sweet almond to my nose, with a touch of citrus and clove and rose. Not really noticing the sandalwood, but i tend to amp it, so I will probably notice it once this is on my skin. Ok, on my skin this is still mostly sweet almond...almond and rose. They make a very good combination. A mixture of exotic and classic. Up close it is more sweet almondy, from further back it is more rosey. This is an excellent blend. I never did really get any sandalwood at all, which was fine by me. It was mostly sweet almond and rose, being heavy on the sweet almond when it was first on my skin, and slowly morphing into a gorgeous classy rose scent with wafts of sweet almond/spiced. Such a unique dichotomy of sexy and demure. I love it!

    The Fainting Couch Atmosphere Spray

This is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. To me, it's like a soft, pink rose petal scent. Fresh and sweet and classic...wow...I think this could be the most gorgeous roomspray I have tried yet. *I* want to smell like this! Maybe some violet in there too. One spritz of this, and the room is classy. Like an expensive, fancy, bed and breakfast. A bit old fashioned, but with a classic beauty and delicacy.

The Ghosts of the Arroyo Seco Bridge

In the bottle, this is really pretty..a light floral, with a touch of greenery and maybe even a touch of cement. Ok, very interesting on my skin. Kind of hard to describe. Definitely a touch aquatic, a touch green, and quite a bit floral. Maybe even some citrussy something in there? This is very complex. It pretty much stays the same on drydown-no real morphing. It's a little weird super up close, but from far away, it really is quite lovely. A soft, non salty, fresh aquatic floral, with a touch of greens and cement.

    Oblivion

Oh, this is quite nice...a rich dark musky, spicy wood scent-I looove the saffron in this! This isn't quite as OMG DARK as I was afraid it would be...more rich, dark brown instead of blackness. Woods aren't usually my thing, but this has enough spice and saffron to keep it from being too woody. It's a bit masculine...not quite cologney though. Very bold. This has a nice throw and decent staying power, though after a few hours it doesn't disappear but turns to a sweet powder. I liked this blend quite a lot, moreso than I thought I would. This is a great unisex blend. For someone like me, who doesn't generally do "dark" blends OR wood blends OR patchouli blends, I would allllmost put this on my To Buy list. It's the most unique blend, but it is an amazing blend for someone who wants a deep spicy earthy blend, that isn't TOO deep or TOO spicy or TOO earthy.

    The Coiled Serpent

In the imp, this feels like a slightly herbal patchouli blend to my nose. Yep, on my skin it's about the same-basically straight up patchouli O_O Gah, wait, as it sits on my skin it gets a lot more woody...and is pretty much morphing straight into pencil shavings =_= I hate when that happens! Hmm...this blend goes back and forth between cedar shavings and soft, lovely Lush-like patchouli. If it was ALL that lovely Lush patchouli I might be tempted, but that cedary scent drives me crazy! Oh well! I imagine this would be great on the right person!

    Kindly Moon

Utterly ethereal, an exquisite expression of love: moonflower, lotus root, white gardenia, beeswax, peach blossom, blue musk, stargazer lily, golden osmanthus, ti, sandalwood, hyacinth, ylang ylang, and a touch of vanilla bean. Oh, this is so pretty in the imp! A soft, sparkling, sweet peachy scent! A very pretty fruity floral! Okay, on my skin, this becomes REALLY musky for some reason O_o But not in a bad way, it just tempers the sweetness of the peach and mellows it out. Underneath that peachy sweetness is a mix of lovely white florals. As it dries, the peachyness continues to fade, and the white floral bouquet comes out more-it gives the blend more of a traditional perfumey type scent. On full and complete drydown I do lose that peachyness, but the soft white floral lasts a very long time, though the throw is not that strong. I enjoyed this blend. I don't think I would go crazy trying to track it down, but I may have to snatch up a bottle I come across one...

    Robin Goodfellow

This was a lab frimp-not something I would have ever picked out for myself. In the imp I get that very dark musk, dark woods, a kind of viney scent, and a touch of sage. Very deep and earthy. Hmm, you know, i'm a bit surprised this blend isn't more popular. Earthy/woody isn't really my thing, but this is very nice on my skin-rich deep dark woods, which are tempered by the moss, deep musk, and that littlest touch of sage make this a really gorgeous blend! The mix of moss and musk really keep the woods from going too..er...woody *snicker* On full drydown though, this blend kind of loses it's Oomph and Wow factor. Goes to a rather sweet powdery soft woodsy scent-too powdery for me, but I am going to blame my skin chemistry for that ]: I just don't do well with woods. That said, I would HIGHLY recommend trying this out if you like rich, earthy, woody blends. This is gorgeous and underrated imho!

    B340

Out of all the Convergence blends, this is the one I am most excited about testing!!! The other reviews totally make it sound like it is up my alley! In the bottle I get soft watery violets and fresh mint. Ok, on my skin...I can definitely see where other reviewers were getting an absinthe-y anisey vibe. There is definitely that there as well...I can't decide if this is olde timey or old lady... I really wish I had a note list for this! I am dying to know what is actually in it...olde timey is winning out the battle-this is a sweet bouquet, definitely not just violet-in a way this is the kind of perfume I was hoping l'huere verte would be...while the bouquet was more indistinct when it first hit my skin, it definitely feels mostly violet now. Like violet water, a bit of absinthe/anise, sugar, mint, and maybe a touch of something herbal or lavender? Man, this one is such a morpher, as it finished drying down down I get sweet violet powder and something...weird in a not good way...it just goes funky! Noo! How sad! It's not horrible from far away but up close it's all yucky ]:*sigh* Will have to find a new home for this one!

    Odin

Deep woody and leafy in the imp-rich and musky. Definitely masculine. This is a deep, woody cologne-y scent on my skin, with a touch of bitter herbs. As it sits on my skin, the woodiness becomes more leafy, green, and viney. I like this from far away, a pretty fresh woodsy cologne scent, but up close it's got a kind of old, wet leavesy smell that is hard to describe. On full drydown the old leaves smell dissipates and I am left with that soft woodsy cologne scent. This has great staying power and a nice throw.

The Phantom Cow of Yerba Buena Island

So a lovely bpal angel grabbed me all the convergence blends, but I won't lie, when I heard about a milky cow one, my stomach turned just a bit. Bpal milk doesn't really like me. Truth be told, regular milk doesn't like me (or my tummy) either, so I am a bit scared to try this. But in the name of bpal and science, I need to at least give it a shot! In the bottle this is OMG MILK, a bit sour, thick, and kind of like baby formula to my nose >_< There is something herby under the milk, but I can't quite pinpoint what... Ok, it's a bit better on my skin...a thick rich milky kind of scent mixed with something herby and green. Less baby spittupy, and more smooth. The throw is quite strong. This wouldn't be a thin white milk, this is like a sort of yellowy, uber thick creamy milk. Still a bit sour though. I mean, I won't lie, it still turns my stomach a bit... This blend has great lasting power and on full drydown loses a bit of that sour edge from before. It becomes a warmer kind of milk scent. I lose most of the herbs or whatever greenery was in the blend. If you are a bpal Milk lover you will HAVE to track down this scent. If you are a bpal Milk hater, this probably won't change your mind. If you are in between you should at least seek out a decant of this one!

    Jolly Roger

Hmm...none of the piratey blends have worked for me so far...I'm not huge on salty aquatics of leather so this doesn't sound like it will be for me, but hey, you never know with bpal! In the imp this is almost all salty wood...it has an aged feel to it, but not in a rotting kind of way. Aged but clean ship wood and salty sea air. A touch of worn brown leather. On my skin the leather comes out quite a bit more-warm brown leather, a touch of spiciness from the bay rum, and the same saltiness and woods that I had gotten when I sniffed it from the imp. One thing I like about this blend is that the saltiness isn't the weird sour/rotten seaweed aquatic I get from some of the sea-based blends. The longer this sits on my skin, the more the rich bay rum spiciness comes out. While this isn't a blend I would buy, I think it is one of my favorite of the Bewitching Brews Piratey blends. It's the perfect mix of ocean salt, ship's wood, spices and worn in leather!

    Lysander

This is an odd blend...like a slightly sour herbal musk with a touch of smoky florals...hard to describe as I sniff it from the imp. Ok, I get a different feel on my skin...much more lilac-y...lilac musk and soft woods, almost none of the sourness or herbal-ness I got before. Quite lovely! A very unisex kind of scent. I get just the teeensiest hint of the lime rind and something resinous to add complexity to the blend. This is a neat mixture of earthy, floral and musky. There's also a creaminess this gets as it dries down...mmm, this blend is really starting to grow on me! Hrmph, this blend faded SUPER fast on me-now it is nothing more than a touch of woody lilac powder. ]: This was pretty while wet, but I'm not sure I would buy it. That said, if a bottle fell into my lap, I do think I would wear it...or force it onto my boyfriend...[:<

    Plastic Pink Flamingo

I love this blend. Just love it. Super sugary crunchy pink rock candy, sticky sweet sap, and a teensy hint of green stemminess to round it out. I normally give longer reviewers but I don't think there much else I need to say about this one except that I freakin LOVE IT!
  22. Suu4LC

    Schrodinger's Cat

Hmm...in the imp I don't get any chocolate peppermint at all...it's almost entirely the tangerine, lime, grapefruit and oakmoss. A bright citrussy scent mellowed out by oakmoss. I don't even get the lavender (and I won't lie, I know know what zfravetz is--ok, google says its geranium...huh). Ok, on my skin I start to get the other notes in there a bit, definitely the lavender and maybe some peppermint...still no chocolate though. I would still say it is primarily a mixture of the first 4 notes listed in the blend. Yes, that is mostly what I got from this blend-the first four notes, with occasional appearances from the other notes in the blend-like whoa, where'd you come from lavender? Peppermint? Still never got any chocolate though. Admittedly, this blend was a bit of a disappointment for me-it faded super fast, and was too citrus heavy for what I had wanted!
  23. Suu4LC

    Dorian v2

Ok, I brought over my Dorian imp so I can compare the two blends-v2 is definitely a bit less sweet and sugary and more muted, soft and lavendered (yes, that is a word now ) I seem to be the only one who finds this LESS sweet than the final product, but is definitely less sugary to my nose. Also maybe a bit less tea, and a bit more herbal/lavender-y. Someone compared it to subtle TKO. A wearable day perfume version of TKO instead of the nighttime aromatherapy blend. Yes, a mix of Dorian and TKO...very pretty-heavier on the lavender, lighter on the sugar and tea. Lovely!

    MB: Underbed v1

Mmmm...I have never sniffed the original so I cannot compare, but I am definitely digging this in the bottle. Rich cocoa-y cinnamon/cassia over white fluffy coconutty angel cake! Yum! On my skin, the cinnamon is VERY strong and fiery, over a dusty cocoa-y dry coconut cake. You know, one of the other reviewers got a spearminty kind of scent from this, and I kinda of get it this too.. On full drydown, there definitely is something dusty about this blend, which i'm not sure how I feel about...it ends up kind of feeling like dry, dusty coffee cake actually...like the crumbly part of the coffee cake, with the cinnamon and vanilla without the moistness or butteriness of the cakey part. Hmm...interesting. Not sure I love it-I wish I had the original to compare to!

    Shanghai

Very pretty in the imp-light lemony green tea with just a hint of sweetness from the honeysuckle! Lovely and refreshing! Exactly the same on my skin! Oh, this is so pretty-I don't think I have anything else that smells like this! Yep, there are quite a few light bpal tea scents, but this one is just spectacularly pretty. Not too lemony, it never gets that weird lemon cleansery scent. Honeysuckle can also go a bit wonky on me, but here it is just the right amount of sweetness. A gorgeous refreshing summer green tea blend!
