I expected this to taste like vanilla and rose. I was surprised to find that it tastes like vanilla and mint. It is very tasty, but besides the color it doesn't really make me think of Pink Snowballs. This is Snowblind Floof.

Looking for scents that smell like chai
SadariEvenstar replied to Vicious Mistress's topic in Recommendations
Pumpkin Masala Rooibos? I'm not big on pumpkin scents, but I love that one. -
This smells like cheese in the bottle. Like I was horrified by how much it smelled like stinky cheese. But I soldiered on and bravely put it on my skin and Bam! Beautiful, rich caramel. Really, really weird ride to get there though.

Frosted gingerbread, leather, pipe tobacco, and fruitcake crumbs. Gingerbread man wearing a leather jacket. This brings to mind the most hilariously adorable images to mind. The leather is a bit strong in this right now, but I think it is going to age wonderfully! I don't get any tobacco at all.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
SadariEvenstar replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
It might have been musk. I love it and I usually wear it easily but sometimes, especially if my skin is really dry, it will irritate my skin. Almost all my perfume irritates my skin if I put it on too soon after taking a shower as well. -
Picture Books in Winter Summer fading, winter comes Frosty mornings, tingling thumbs, Window robins, winter rooks, And the picture story-books. Water now is turned to stone Nurse and I can walk upon; Still we find the flowing brooks In the picture story-books. All the pretty things put by, Wait upon the children's eye, Sheep and shepherds, trees and crooks, In the picture story-books. We may see how all things are Seas and cities, near and far, And the flying fairies' looks, In the picture story-books. How am I to sing your praise, Happy chimney-corner days, Sitting safe in nursery nooks, Reading picture story-books? - Robert Louis Stevenson The wild joy of story time on a frosty winter morning: the well-loved, well-worn leather of old fairy tale books, the sweet mustiness of antique paper, fae glimmers of twinkling crystalline flowers, and a chunk of Scottish Tablet. Wet and drying this is all foody and leather. A sweet, warm, worn leather. As it drys the foody quality tones way down and the paper comes out to play. This is old book paper, the most convincing that I have smelled yet. The kind that makes your nose twitch a little from its dustiness. My grandmother used to always give me very old books that she picked up at library book sales and garage sales. Titles no one had ever even heard of, but I loved them. This reminds me of being a kid, holed up in my room with a crumbling book and a cookie I stole from the cupboard. I never find the flowers, but I'm am more than okay with that. This is the epitome of cozy. eta: This kept reminding me a bit of Antikythera Mechanism, which my husband wears so I tried it on him. (Not to say that I think it is masculine. I think it is very gender neutral.)

Popcorn and jelly beans. I love this! I'm just trying the find the words to describe it that don't make it sound gross. Wet: Exactly what it says on the bottle. Red jelly beans on the top of the scent(I get red ones, specifically.) and popcorn at the base. It's a little bit buttery, but not nauseatingly so. It's mostly fresh hot popcorn. Dry: As the two scents meld and it makes a cakey kind of scent. Fruity cake. It kind of reminds me of a simpler Hungry Ghost Moon.

I was thinking about busting out the sculpy clay - I sometimes like to make cute little fantasy miniature sculpture, like fairy doors, or miniature garden gnomes for potted plants, or I've even made a couple of tiny smaug's based on this cartoon. This smells like one of the lab's snow notes to me, like the one that is in Ondurdis or Almond Blossom. Fruity snow. No bread, no butter, no specific fruits. This is not at all what I expected.
-
My impression of Peach Pie hair gloss is almost the complete opposite of the above review. I get PEACH, really super realistic peach - tart and sweet. I get no pastry and no spices. The scent is not as strong and sweeter when it dries, but I still don't smell any pastry. I like it a lot, but I expected it to be more pie like.

I have a decant of the original and while it smells good, I never sought out more. It seemed to me a rather generic chocolate scent. The staying power was poor. This one though.... This is is different. This is rich dark chocolate with a somewhat evil feeling edge to it. The staying power is very good, I've been wearing it about 7 hours now and it is still going strong. I've very happy with it.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)
SadariEvenstar replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Carnaval Diabolique
I don't usually like red musk. There have only been 3 blends ever that I have cared for with it as an ingredient. (Midnight Kiss, The Soldier, WILF, to give you an idea of my tastes.) I decided to give this a try anyway because it's legendary. When it first goes on I can immediately tell that this is a red musk blend that I am going to like. It's more airy and gentler than any red musk scent that I have tried before. I can actually smell the other notes that are in it instead of them all being drowned out by the musk. I am liking this a lot at this stage. However.... The dry down is dryer sheets. Not fresh, new, sharply soapy dryer sheets, but one that has been used. Warm, lightly perfumey, and it leaves you tasting soap in the back of your mouth if you breathe it in deeply. I'm disappointed, the first half hour or so smelled so good. I'm going to leave it to age a bit and see if it changes at all. *I have never tried the original, so I can't compare it to that. -
Unf. This is gorgeous. This is no suntan lotion coconut. This is creamy, marshmallowy, almost toasted coconuty beauty. This is warm and wonderful!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
SadariEvenstar replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
Black musk is one of my favourite notes ever. All the sudden I am getting a reaction to it. I've worn two different blends (that I have never had trouble with before) with it recently and both have given me cinnamon oil like reaction. Has anyone ever just started randomly reacting to their perfumes after years of owning them? Do you think it could just be my extra dry skin right now? I haven't been reacting abnormally to any other notes....... I really don't want to lose my ability to wear my black musk blends. -
I was gifted a bar of this soap so I decided to give it a try. That being said, I don't really like Snake Oil. It tend to move between 'meh' and 'blergh' depending my skin chemistry at the time. In the shower: "That is unpleasent.... I know that smell. It's not Snake Oil but I know and loathe that scent.... Oh, god it smells like my carpets after I shampoo them!" And it does, wet rug, chemicals, hint o'wet dog hair. *shudder* The worst was yet to come. I'm in my room after my shower and I start to smell urine. I get really pissed off because I assume it was my dog. I go searching for the inevitable wet spot. Nothing, in fact I remember now that dog was in her crate while I was in the shower. Oh. That would be me. Smelling like pee. And wet dog.

Straight up coconut cupcakes, this is delightful! -
This smells bizarrely of Elmer's glue when it is wet. O_o Thankfully it burns off quickly and I am left with the most glorious powdered sugar scent! There is a lovely nuttiness from the pralines in the background.

This is reminding me of Daddy, but with more staying power. (I hope I never have to type that sentence again. O_o) It must be the fougere. I like it a lot!

This smells like summer at the beach when I was a kid. Seriously one sniff and suddenly it's 1989. My mom's suntan lotion, orange pushpops, water, and hot sun. I love it!

I can rarely wear perfumes that list a citrus note. However, I've noticed that the ones I can wear always specifically list zest or peel. This sadly, did not hold true for this blend. I am amping orange scented cleaner so badly that I feel like I fell in a mop bucket.
