Czernobog envelops you in a velvety darkness. There is just the right amount of sweetness here. I love the smoothness and strength of this blend. Definitely put me in the Czernobog fan club! The scent softens as it drys, but the throw is moderately strong. Not too much, but a presence.

I've only sniffed (not skin-tested) Violet Ray. I love (no, LOVE) Bruised Violet Compound. It's a very earthy, spring mix. First I smell the patchouli. The root seems more subtle than the leaf. Next I get the smashed violet essence with a hint of earthy moss. The only complaint I have about BVC is that it doesn't last very long on me -- at most an hour and a half. I never get the current, but I do sense an overall sweeting of the blend as it drys. Voilet Ray (in the bottle) smells lighter and more floral/less earthy or grounded than BVC. Don't know if that helps. Much love for Bruised Violet Compound! I haven't been impressed enough to skin-test my imp of Violet Ray.

I get a lot of woody scent from Tiki King. Before reading the notes I kept asking myself if I was smelling sandalwood or cedar. The woods linger and the coconut is an after note with my chemistry. I like this one as I love earthy/woody scents. This is not so much of earth as of trees. Glad I got a bottle, but I won't reach for this every day.

Just got this today and wanted to post my first impressions. In the bottle: sharp, woodsy, manly, demands attention. Sir, yes Sir! Wet: Sandalwood, perhaps ebony wood, amber and smoke. Dry: much, much more mellow. I'm absolutely loving this. I get the hint of bay rum but also musk and patchouli. At this point the woods/spice notes have stopped clamoring for attention. The very faintest hint of something sweet/floral is hovering in the background. Why, oh why, didn't I get two bottles!?!

Rose to the 10th! Ten minutes later, rose to the 100th. Straight-up rose that lasts and lasts. This smells like lotion from my great-aunt Grace. Too floral for my tastes. I would think Lucy would have a bit more depth. Alas, skin chemistry can very greatly.

In the bottle: sweet Wet: this smells like Pat Catan's (craft store)! Drying: potpourri with a fake fruit scent gone wrong Not one of my favorites. This smells forced. Not what I'd hoped for an Alice in Wonderland tie-in.

Not what I was expecting at all; much more crisp and green. At first sniff I'm regretting spending as much as I did for this scent. It gradually improves, but the "snow" never really resonates with me. I get crisp and bleak and sharpness. Not one of my favorites, regrettably.

My very favorite. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. Patchouli, vanilla, mystery and sex all in a bottle. This lasts and lasts and lasts on me. I love it. This would be the scent I would want to have as a signature scent; if only I could sit still for that long! It smells deep and spicy and somewhat sweet. Absolutely perfect.

I was sure I had reviewed this, but it appears I haven't. I love this scent. The oil is very thick and dark. When I apply it I have to rub it around just to distribute the oil and prevent big black/brown blotches from lingering. Luscious chocolate enveloped in a pillow of silky Snake Oil. So sultry, sexy and wonderful. This fades by the end of the day, but even then I can still smell the sophisticated naughtiness of the scent. Not strictly foody per se, but more rich and indulgent; classy chocolate. I couldn't have enough bottles of this on hand.

This doesn't smell nearly as "dark" as I was expecting. At first sniff and after the initial application I was prepared to dismiss this as smelling too much of traditional perfume. As it dried I was more and more surprised. I associate this very strongly with CK's Euphoria. Not sure exactly why. I like the bracing depth and rewarding sweetness. I only have a decant, but I'm considering a bottle now that I've had a chance to try this. Proper and deviant at the same time. Worth a try.

Yum! I get a sense of nuttiness paired with spices, cinnamon and (if I concentrate) the chocolate. It comes across as nutty, spicy, sweetness on first application and seems to last a while (5+ hours). I'm so glad I got a partial bottle of this, sight unsmelled. I'm really liking it. The pumpkin isn't very strong here. It's competing with a lot of other heady scents. Works for me!

I'm in love. I adore this. In the bottle: Snake Oil with a hint of smokiness Wet: Mmmmmm. Snake Oil+ ; I'm just beginning to smell the coconut. Sweet vanilla and just the right amount of spice. Drying: Kiss, kiss, kiss. I can't stop smelling my wrist. Smoky sexiness. I wish I could be a bit more descriptive. I absolutely love this oil. Of the Snake Pit oils I've tried this my even surpass Boomslang, my current favorite.

I'm sorry to say I was disappointed with Black Lace. After all the hype and buzz I thought I would instantly fall in love. No so. In the bottle: Very perfumey, too formal and fussy. Lace is an apt description. It smells like a dusty doily. Wet: Incense is coming through, still very traditional-perfume in smell. This feels cold and dry to me -- no warmth. I'm not detecting any booze or vanilla. Dry: The vanilla finally surfaces after about 3 hours. It still has a very clean/cold smell to me, even with the vanilla note. I'm not a fan of this. I'll give it another try, but I'm so glad I snagged an imp and didn't fork over the current ebay prices on this one.

In the bottle: Fruity and sweet. Wet: Very sweet. A cherry syrup smell. Drying: More floral now and I can smell the musk. The cloying sweetness of the strawberry/cherry is still hovering. There is almost an incense quality to it now. Strawberry incense. Does such a thing even exist? I like this more than I though I would. I think the musk and touch of vanilla saves the fruitiness from being too overwhelming. Not something I would wear everyday, but now and then I'd certainly indulge.

In the bottle: Booze Wet: Damn! Strong rum and butter. Drying: Much more coconut is coming to the surface. I'm still getting the butter and booze too. There's spiciness too, almost a cinnamon-sugar chaser. A heady mix indeed. This was a surprising mood-lifter for me. Perhaps I should have hot buttered rum more often! Actually I don't know that I've ever had hot buttered rum. No need now. I'll just need to get a bottle of Grog! Edited to add verbs. Verbs are good.

In the bottle: Lavender with some other woody/herbal smells. Very faint chocolate. Wet: The chocolate pops as soon as it hits my skin then the lavender comes in with a second note. Drying: A sharper, woodsy scent appears. I'm still reeling from the chocolate-lavender combo. With more time the chocolate resurfaces. This has a floral finish (with the lavender) as a prominent note. A chocolate-floral with a wolf-man as a namesake; now that's complex. I like this. I'm going to need to give it a couple more tries to seen how it differs in dry down on my skin. If you've ever eaten a chocolate-lavender bar (like Dagoba) you'll have some idea of this scent. Perfect for wearing whilst languidly sipping from a glass of Zinfandel.

Egg Nog 2007 In the bottle: Rum and cream Wet: Vanilla, rum, cream and delicate spice (nutmeg) Drying/Dry: This smells just like cake batter. Thick, heavey, sweet, creamy, vanilla-infused richness. I definitely need a second bottle of this. It's luxurious and decedent. I want to bathe in this.

In the bottle: dark bittersweet chocolate and brandy Wet: Chocolate note is still prominent but there's something lurking in the background -- a spicy edge, perhaps cinnamon Drying: Gloriously complex! This is a serious chocolate scent, not flirty. I wouldn't characterize this as a foody scent either. With the dry down I'm getting a hint of something old and powerful hovering behind the heart-quickening of chocolate. A tart/sour note that could be wine or blood. I like this one a lot. I'm glad I opted for a bottle (based on these reviews alone). If I smelled this on someone in passing I would certainly be drawn to them.

Alone 2007 In the bottle: stern spiciness, almost aggressive. I'm smelling little else. Wet: Initially spicy but now that it's on my skin a hit of woodsy/earthy presence is beginning to surface. Drying: This has mellowed nicely. The initial spicy sharpness is gone. I'm getting a mournful wood/earth/spice with a hint of sweet. I'm liking this a lot, but I'm curious to see how long it will last before I need to reapply.

Wow! In the bottle: yummy! sexy! Wet: luscious; spicy, exciting, lip-bitingly wonderful. Sex in a bottle. Dry down: the ylang-ylang is more pronounced. Still *very* nice. Mr. Pens says it smells "like an import store." Not exactly the reaction I was looking for. I'll be getting a big bottle of this. I'm really liking this scent.

I'm in love. In the bottle: night-cooled, saturated soil with a faint sweat note hovering on the breeze Wet: humid earth, freshly dug; heady mourning flowers but a hint of decay Drying: much less of the earthen smell; the patchouli and orchid are combining nicely. I can sense a slight bit of branch or bark melding with the patchouli and orchid. Nice. Very, very nice.

In the bottle: Floral Wet: Lightly floral, more of a traditional perfume-y scent Drying: There's more of a smell of incense as it drys with the faintest whiff of musk. I keep waiting for a dusty paper scent to emerge, but there's nothing dusty going on with this combo and my skin chemistry. This is more bright on me than warm. Much cleaner and floral than I like. Not one of my favorites even though I'm the biggest fan of the library.

Samhain 2007 From the bottle: Sweet Wet: Very sweet with a hint of spice. This is strong and not what I was expecting. I'm not getting patchouli at all. Dry down: Mellowing. Still sweet but more incense. Definitely lest earthy than I was hoping for. Not sure about this. I'll have to give it another try. It's not saying autumn so much as old church to me.
