Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
fireweaver replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
I found the drydown of Aerowen to be similar to Breathe Romance. The wet stage is nowhere near it, but, drydown is fairly close on me. -
I wore Fruitcake for Christmas. For NYE I think I'm going with Ether. The mad scientist idea is sorta remenisent of the NY. You don't know exactly how your New Year is going to turn out, but, you can't wait to find out

in bottle - rich, complex. can't wait to try it out on skin first 5 min- rich, deep, amber and other things I can't quite identify after 5 min- really strong baby powder!

Starts off sweet with a slightly sharp note. The sharp note fades and I'm left with really sweet flowers. Throw is minimal but I love it so who cares if someone next to me can smell it? . Lasts a few hours as well. 3.5/5

Wet, it's mainly tea. As it dries down, it's red musk and tea. I dunno where the vanilla is, but it smells nice regardless
-
sort of candylike with musk, deepens into a sweet dark fruit/musk combo.
-
when it first goes on I get that cola scent others have described. It goes away really quickly and it's just very yummy. Not a lot of throw, but that's okay with me. Spicy/sweet/dark

black tower lasts a long time on me.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

whoever said Archangel Winter and Sea of Glass are similar were so right. I can start using more of AW because I can buy a bottle of SoG when my LE bottle runs out! -
I found I apply with a more generous hand from bottles then I do imps. I don't know if it's because it's bigger and I think "I have more of it, can use more" or what, but I've dented one of my bottles of cheshire moon pretty well, yet the imp I have of it still is around 1/4 full! And I use the imp more then I do the bottle!

Caliban dries down to imo a salty skin scent on me. It's divine, and I'll wake up the next day going "damn I smell good"

This is what I thought Severin was going to smell like. It smells so very spicy tea and leather to me. And good leather, deep black mysterious leather, with just a faint hint of patchouli. Love it

I want a BPAL that smells like Bath & Body Works...

How does Swank compare with BBW's "Pomagrante Martini"? Sadly, it was discontinued. It smelled just like Hawaiian punch on me. Thanks! -
Wet- maple syrup?! I'm assuming that it's the orange blossom interacting with the cream and confusing my nose, but that's what I smell at first. It's not bad, but, it makes me want to layer this with sin which my nose interprets as oatmeal with cinnamon... Dry- spicyish creamyish orange blossoms. I like this, but not sure if I want a bottle of it.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

to my nose, this smells like Snake Oil- vanilla + really faint mellow fruit. I really, really like this and will be buying a bottle soon! -
A huge bouquet of squished rose petals: Bulgarian rose, Somalian rose, Turkish rose, Damascus rose, red and white rose, tea rose, wine rose, shrub roses, rose, rose, rose... ...and just an itty bitty bit of green grass. I got a really sweet rose scent, great throw. Unfortunately I had put it on, then put on a coat that eats all scent, so I reapplied. Well, apparently this scent was smarter then the other scents I wear, because it was just hiding from my nose, and thus gave me 2x the roses. Yeah, it was bad.. (in a nice smelling way). So, a little bit goes a LOOOOOONG way!

Wet- grapefruit, nice but where's all the other notes? Drying - ok, here's rose, and buh bye grapefruit Dry- crap, it's soapy. Ok, nice soap, you know the type you'd spend a lot of money on? but, rose soap.

Wet- very sweet floral. ALmost too much, but not quite. Drydown, sweetness fades and the smokey vanilla comes out more. I really like the vanilla, and once the sweet floral fades a bit, it's very nice. It's just a bit too much at first.

I mainly get pine with a touch of a tart sweetness of the cranberry. Very nice, but not me. I'd love it as a candle/room scent though!

I'm not exactly sure what ozone smells like exactly, but this scent does smell like being outside in snow. When the oil drys down it does get sweeter like the reviewer who said flowers peeking out of the snow. I put the scent on last night before bed, and the sweetness is still on my wrist a full 12 hours later. It's faint, you have to put it by your nose to smell, but it's there It's so gorgeous and I love it.
-
In vial- very sharp, almost unpleasant to my nose. On- evil sprite (lemon-lime drink). Definitely not for me.

The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls. In the imp=ooh boozy coffee! On me wet- vaguely irish creamy coffee drydown- moldy butter Won't be ordering a bottle, but if I had a scent locket I'd definitely try it there! which reminds me, maybe I should get a scent locket...

Plunder was like a cup of tea. It was very strange smelling something so very tea-like yet it wasn't *hot* I felt like my wrist should have been at least warm. I love this scent, and when layered with snake oil, I got an extra spicy, sweet tea

What scents have the same leather note as in Black Tower? I've tried Sevrin, which was just starting to maybe hint at a bit of leather when it disappears off my skin, otherewise I get citrus. Basically, if I love the leather in Black Tower, I'd love...?

I like sin, but I get an almost oatmeal with cinnamon smell. I happen to like that, but I really don't think of oatmeal as a sin
