I really wanted to love this one. Coconut + licorice, in theory, sounds fantastic. On my skin, it's identical to Brown Jenkin (which was... meh). Dry, hazy coconut incense.

I love Chaste Moon 2005. It's faint, innocent, milky (but not sour). Chaste Moon 2010 is NOT the same scent. Not even similar. I smell a sharp floral, like soap from the Dollar Store. Not BAD per se... just... not spectacular or special. At one point, it smells identical to the old Daffodil Fields scent from B&BW.
-
This should have been spectacular on me, but somehow, it's absolutely horrifying. I will agree that it is longlasting, but to my nose... oh Lord. It smells foul, sour... like of like old garbage. I get no vanilla, no leather. Just... grossness.

Boo is delightful. Like some of the previous reviewers, I experience that slight sourness of the cream, but only until it dries. Then it's a faint sugary scent, like marshmallows. I've never tried Marshmallow Poof, but I imagine it's something like this. Soft, but lasts for hours. You know how, in Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the clowns shoot cotton candy cocoons from their guns, and they envelope people? It's like that... only marshmallow-y.

Tried this scent this morning, and sadly, I had to wash it off and replace it with something else. It's like some kind of citrus surface cleaner on me. It actually made me slightly dizzy. I shall hide it away and let it age a bit... perhaps some of the other notes will come out and play.

I received this little guy by accident in a decant circle. He's sweet molasses-vanilla-creamy in the vial, and sweet-molasses being punched in the gut by patchouli once dry. Since I'm not a fan of patchouli, I wish the sweet foodiness were predominant... but, ya can't win 'em all. I suppose a lawn gnome would have to be sort of dirty anyway...

This is... unusual. A previous poster noted the "goatyness" of it, and I concur. The milk note reminds me of Milk Moon 05, but with a raw, earthy, um... wild goatyness. I don't get much fig until the pungent milk fades a little. I'm content with my 1/2 decant of this one.

In the imp vial, this is the most mouth-watering autumnal pear scent. I get a hint of amber in the background. Dry on my skin, however, is a different story. It smells exactly like Shower to Shower talcum powder.

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
sharybaby replied to RaeiNarcissus's topic in Discontinued Scents
Whiffs of cinnamon bark, almond, and spikenard surround a perfect fruit, whose scent is akin to a tamarind, with the grace of a fine grape, as warm and rich as a fresh fig, glistening red like pomegranate seeds, and as crisp as an apple. I received a sniffie of this from a decant circle. Wow. Perfect timing. The summer is in full swing, it's hot as Hades out, and The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is a refreshing, fruity respite. It smells remarkably like the teal-colored Kool-Aid from my childhood. Mom never bought us the Kool Bursts, but best friend Jackie's parents did. -

A new summer favorite! Ripe, sweet blackberries with sage tea. DEFINITELY feminine... makes me feel a little coy.

A wonderful new forum friend shared some Blue Phoenix with me (thank you, thank you!) Before I even tried it, I knew I'd be a sucker... I love anything sweet/foody/cake-like. Blue Phoenix definitely has that sweet Strawberry Shortcake doll head smell, but it's tempered with a delectable vanilla cream that doesn't go all plastic on me. It's truly delightful. I only wish it lasted longer... now how's about a Yellow Phoenix (lemon tart? mmm)

Mmm... heavenly spices... cinnamon and clove (I don't get white pepper, but I also probably wouldn't know white pepper if it smacked me in the head). Warm, slightly dangerous. A fall scent, but It's May, and I'm loving it.

There are a handful of BPAL scents that make me wish I had accidentally stumbled upon the company one, two, even three years earlier than I did. Pinched with Four Aces is *definitely* one of these scents. It is, indeed, ManBait (or, should you prefer, LadyBait). Holy sh*t, it is good. Coffee, cinnamon (which, I've discovered, is one of my favorite notes), and tobacco. (I read recently that the smell of cinnamon is a major aphrodesiac). Oh yeah.

I had a singularly unusual experience with Intrigue. I had it on my wishlist for quite a while because "cocoa, fig, dark woods?" Sign me up. Smelling the imp, I get a mysterious foody darkness. However, on my skin, it's leather and crayons (not Crayola either... dollar store crayons). Totally bizarre. Even more bizarre, I don't dislike it.

I received this in a swap with a new friend. What an unusual scent! Upon application, it's strong lime with a very (!) faint spicy baked good background. Within 5 minutes, it tempers to bay rum (oooh, masculine) with that faint reminder of spice cookies. Quite pleasant, comforting, like having a strong father figure wrap his arms around you. ETA: That's my swapper up above!! he he
