    Egg Nog

In the bottle, Egg Nog smells absolutely delicious! Someone compared it to Bailey's, and I get that as well! Yummy cream and an alcohol - rum or brandy? Both? I'm not too familiar with the scent of brandy, so that might be it. On the skin, the alcohol comes up, then fades as the nutmeg comes out. Perfectly scented like Egg Nog - this is heaven! Unfortunately, about 5-10 minutes later, I get a faint whiff of bandaid. Not overpowering or enough to make me go yuck and wash it off. But enough to go "Damn - where's my yummy egg nog smell?" My husband couldn't detect anything different, however. (But my nose is more sensitive than his.) I reapplied, and again it was just like the bottle for a few minutes, then back to the not quite right smell. I will give it another few goes on my skin, but I can't bear to part with this beautiful scent, so it is going in the burner. Mmm - sniffing eggnog all day! Yummy!

    Snow White

In the bottle, Snow White (2004) smells of almonds and something I can only describe as soft - I can't put my finger on what it is. Wet on skin, it is still soft, but there is a hint of freshness. However, it is a very subtle scent - like a whisper. It makes me want to bury my nose further into my wrist to chase after it so I can pin it down and figure out how it smells! Later, it is stull soft and smells of - vanilla? I honestly can't put a finger on this scent. It is so elusive. I don't get the icy/minty/chilly notes that others get. Just soft floral? And sweetness. It is persistent in that it isn't fading from its original strength, but I still feel like I can't capture it. This isn't quite the instant love affair I had hoped for, so I'm going to swap my second bottle. But I am intrigued and will definitely keep trying this one to see if I can catch her!

    Gingerbread Poppet

Gingerbread Poppet also reminds me of Gluttony in the bottle. Yummy, spicy goodness. Wet on the skin the spicyness comes out even more. A very warm scent - mostly cinnamon, but I can smell the ginger and nutmeg in the background.l And I also get that spicy skin tingle. I feel like cookies are baking on my wrist! As it fades, it still reminds me of gluttony, but without the caramel notes, and not as strong. Gluttony kind of bashes you over the head, but Gingerbread Poppet sits down next to you, wraps its arms around you and smells fabulous. I am so happy I ordered this one! Definitely a keeper.

    Machu Picchu

I am so sad about this one! In the vial it smelled of yummy fruits with a clean, green? scent underneath. Unfortunately, almost the moment it hit my skin it turned into a sharp, soapy scent. But wait, it gets worse. The sharpness remained for a long time, and it was joined by, yes, powder. I thought this one would be great - tropical fruits and fresh green yumminess! But maybe amber and I don't get along either. Le sigh. Another one for the burner, perhaps?

    Traveling with BPAL

Thanks for posting this question, helarctos. We're flying to Seattle next weekend, and I was wondering the same thing. I do have another question for you imp-travel-savvy people out there. Has anyone had trouble with their imps leaking due to the pressure change? That would truly suck. I always pack my shampoo, soaps, etc. in plastic bags so if they leak they don't go everywhere. But with the preciousss, I'd be more upset over the loss of oil!

    Harvest Moon 2004

After my disappointment with Mabon this morning, I decided to give Harvest Moon another try this afternoon. Not good. In the bottle, I smelled the yummy candy corn that a lot of you have mentioned, but the second it hit my skin I got the bandaid scent. Burnt bandaids. The first time I tried it last week, I got nothing but smoke and had to wash it off immediately. This time, I tried to stick with it and hope it morphed, but it's not really working for me. The bandaid has finally faded, but it's just a strange floral to me (the fabric softener people have mentioned?) And I remember the bandaid scent every time I sniff. Sigh. Alas, poor Harvest Moon, I shall not know ye well. Off to swap.

    Mabon 2004

I purchased a decant of this from Fairywingmaker. In the imp, Mabon is very sweet, apples and wine. On my skin, Mabon is still very sweet, with a softer floral underneath. There's a luciousness to this scent that makes me think of biting into a peach and having the juices dribble down my chin. I am loving this! However... Only about 10 minutes after application, most of that lush sweetness is gone. The scent is more floral with a hint of... powder? Uh oh. Not even an hour after the application, the scent was almost completely gone on me. I re-applied, and that just brought out the powdery floral even more. About an hour after the re-application, I can sometimes get a whiff of the lovely sweet wine and apple scent, but I think that is coming off of my sleeve. My wrist is still powder. Shoot shoot and shoot. I'm sad to be in the minority of reviewers who didn't have luck with this one. I'll try it in the burner and hopefully avoid the problem my skin chemistry has with it.

    Gluttony

Gluttony is wonderful - perfect for today which has been snowy and cold! In the bottle, Gluttony smelled to me of toasted nuts with a hint of caramel. On my skin, it started to warm up instantly - I couldn't think of any other word besides warm! Within a few minutes, it smelled like a yummy, warm caramel roll, which then morphed into a cinnamon roll. I forgot to eat breakfast today, and while I was out and about I was practically gnawing off my wrists, they smell so tasty! And they even feel a bit warm - maybe that's all in my head. I never picked out a coffee or chocolate note at all. Even now that I've read the other reviews, I sniff and can't find either one. On me, it's a warm, spicy, sweet scent, with the toasty/spicy balancing out the sweetness perfectly. And this scent has very good staying power. My only problem was that it conflicted with the turkey sandwich I was eating for lunch! But it is definitely a yummy, comfort scent for me. Wonderful!

    Hunter Moon 2004

... A blend of traditional lunar oils touched with dry leaves, autumn bonfires, warm mulled wine, feral, animalistic notes and the chill of approaching winter. Ok, this is my first review, so bear with me! In the bottle, Hunter Moon smells like grapes at the first sniff. Second sniff is still sweet and gorgeous - other fruits in addition to grapes. When I put it on, it lost a lot of the sweetness, and softened within a few minutes to something more - floral? I don't have the nose for notes that a lot of you have yet, so I can't put a definite name to it. I've been sitting on my couch for about an hour now after putting it on, and I am just loving this scent more and more! Now, it has the soft, floral/woodsy scent lying over that sweetness of the grapes and wine which come out at the end of the sniff. If there is smoke, it is very faint in the background, which makes me VERY happy, because I had the smoke problem with Harvest Moon. When I put that one on, it instantly turned to smoke, smoke, and more smoke and had to be washed off. Therefore, I have been afraid to try Hunter Moon for fear of smelling like a bonfire again. Not happening! I am falling in love with this scent more and more with every breath I take! Thanks to Minilux for having an extra bottle to sell! ETA: another hour later, and it still smells lovely. The description that comes to mind is a Sweet-tart or Smarties. Not icky-sweet candy, but a faint sweet candy that has a bit of a tart-sharpness to it that tingles your nose at the end of the sniff. Behind that is the faint woodsy scent that maybe has a touch of smoke to it. My husband came downstairs and said it smelled great down here - definitely a keeper! (And I didn't really slather it either.)
