On Darkness is a crazy morpher on me! Upon first application, it's super-super-soapy, and then as it dries it goes to a pungent geranium/rosewood and then finally to dark fruity floral loveliness. I agree with the previous reviewers: there is a distinct plummy thing going on. I can barely smell the lavender -- a good thing, I normally amp lavender till it's all I can smell. I'm completely completely in love.

I agree with the poster above -- I detect a strong Snow White component, too. It's like Poisoned Apple + Snow White (which would make sense given the context) + vague white floral. And cold. I don't know how Beth makes things smell cold; she is truly an alchemist. And on me SGA has great throw! I wore it all day at Comic-Con and then to a party later and got many lovely compliments. [insert high keening sound incurred by SGA being an LE.] Pure loveliness.

You might take a look at the Twilight Alchemy Lab offerings. During dark times I've used Hand of Hermes and it seemed to help. Good luck!

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

I think Jester would be flirty and friendly without being, well, too sexy. On the other hand, what about Whip? First innocent and rosey--thenn all perverted and leathery? Bewitched sounds like a good idea though, if you are drawn to it. I love that one and I find it is sweet and alluring without being too sexy. I guess by this time your blind date is over...okay, I hope this is an acceptable thread to put this little conversation starter in..I heard somewhere, from someone that "they", you know those scientific people did a study of some sort with scents and found that men are most arroused by the scent of cinnamon. So, anyone else heard that? and if so, does anyone get big "hits" with Chimera since its my favorite cinnamon scent??? Thanks for the response! I've never tried Jester and am completely intrigued now; I'll test-drive it at Will-Call this Friday. *glee!* I did actually wear Bewitched on my date, by the way -- it went over very, very well. I've also heard that the menfolk respond to cinnamon, but none have whenever I've worn Chimera. (My cat, on the other hand, looooves it.) I've also read that men are aroused by the smell of vanilla and of lavender; I've found that to be true with the vanilla (or pretty much any yummy foody scent -- Cockaigne was fun to wear to holiday parties) but not so much with the lavender. But then, I'm not a huge fan of the lavender. -
To me, Chimera smells exactly the way Trader Joe's Old Fashioned Cinnamon Grahams taste. I know, because I'm wearing Chimera and just took a bite of TJOFCG and had this crazy synesthetic experience wherein I felt like I was eating my perfume -- surreal! Chimera smells delicious, but I haven't decided whether or not I want to smell like a cinnamon graham cracker.

There was beauty, there was wine: a rich Sangiovese vintage swirled through opulent amber, rich plum, champaca flower, and arrogant white musk. Love love love. Smells like grape candy in the bottle, smells like rich plummy wine-y goodness on my skin. It's in the same family as Midwinter's Eve and Bordello but isn't nearly as sweet; to my nose it's a little boozier than Bordello. I'm going to be wearing this one lots!

Hey... any suggestions on what to wear on a blind dinner date? I don't want to be too sexlicious, just you know, flirty and friendly. I'm a big nerd girl and can't wear anything too femmey; Hanging Gardens is about as floral as I get. The scents I wear the most are Snow White, Cockaigne and Poisoned Apple. My skin does weird stuff with spicy scents, patchouli, red musk and incense so those are out (which is sad because I love them!); I was thinking maybe Midwinter's Eve or Bewitched...? Bordello and Perversion might be a tad too heavy. Thanks. -
For the first few moments of being on my skin, Parsifal smelled pleasantly petitgrainy, almost bergamot-y. After an hour or so, the heady white narcissus showed up and gave the petitgrain the big smackdown. On the right person, narcissus is probably kind of spectacular. Narcissus on me demands designer clothes, a Mercedes S-Class and a night out doing something more sophisticated than watching old Twilight Zone episodes while drinking lambrusco out of a juice glass. A juice glass with a pig on it going "oink." Perhaps someday I'll be refined enough to wear Parsifal! Or ah, perhaps not.

I can smell the rose in the vial, but once Spellbound hits my skin all traces of rose vanish and the musk is all HEY CHECK ME OUT. It's heady and intense but in a headshoppy kind of way; it's what I might wear if I wanted to seduce someone while buying a bong. If I were into that kind of thing. Spellbong. Anyway: an impressive melange of scents, but not for me.

General citrus recommendations - and discussion of all things orange
stutefish replied to UltraViolet's topic in Recommendations
Hello! I'm wondering if any of you have found a good BPAL approximation to Jo Malone's Orange Blossom or Nectarine Blossom & Honey colognes -- they're my two favorite fragrances but holy COW they're spendy. Orange Blossom: orange blossom, neroli, water lily, honeysuckle, jasmine. The drydown is mostly a sort of heady jasmine. On the whole the scent is more floral than fruity. Nectarine Blossom & Honey: clementine, peach, plum, honey, hint of blackcurrant. Mostly peachy but not cloyingly so on me; there's a vague almost soil-like note that keeps it grounded. What I like about both of these is that they're neither too citrusy or sweet, nor are they incense-y or musky. I don't do well with incense-y or musky. I've been poring over the forums and thus far am intrigued by Tweedledee, Hunger, Carnal, Cobra Lily, Akuma and Satan & Death with Sin Intervening. (That latter one I think I have to get just for the name!) Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance!
