    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

I made Mr. Gin try some Oisin the other day, and then he teased me when I mumbled the name (something between Poison and Joaquin). I don't call it BPAL out loud, either. Except maybe once to another (BPAL) addict. To others, it's always Black Phoenix.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I love that Strawberry Moon has a red border! And the Midway... wow! It's fantastic! I, too, am really eager to see if the other CNs have the same label. Does anyone know? (Maybe someone who may have seen Shill at BB?)

    How full is full?

I think that at about the shoulder is 'full'.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I got a Beltane with the "normal" green-edged Beltane label but on an amber bottle. I have always preferred the cobalt over the amber, but this combination was *so pretty*! I'm also eagerly awaiting the Carnaval labels.

    Moon Rose

This is a pale, delicate floral. Very cool and ethereal. I imagine white flowers glowing in the moonlight. Moon rose is lovely, and one of the few florals that come to mind when I think of my favorite BPAL oils.

    Leanan Sidhe

I was a bit nervous about the "herbs" but Leanan Sidhe is lovely. It's a little soapy-herbal at first but dries down into a gentle watery-herbal scent.

    La Belle Dame Sans Merci

La Belle Dame Sans Merci is a strong floral - very green and sharp. And from there, it goes bit soapy. As I'm not a fan of sharply-floral or soapy, I'll pass this one along to someone else.

    Intrigue

This is very very dark, dry cocoa. The fig gives it a little more texture and a thickness. In the back, there’s a wood note that’s a bit like cedar. While I like the way Intrigue smells, I don't like it on me.

    Lampades

This is lovely. The first time I tried Lampades, I got mostly musk and a faint berry. On my second try, I got a nice, firm cranberry scent with the musk in the background.

La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente

This is a very calm, quiet scent. Initially, I can smell vines and leaves and water, along with a touch of peach, but it dries into a soft aquatic.

    Jolly Roger

Jolly Roger is primarily aquatic, with maybe a hint of leather. It's a lovely marine-aquatic, a bit sweeter than Sea of Glass.

    Grog

Yay, pirates! Yay rum! Grog is warm, butterscotchy rum.

    The Hesperides

After reading the reviews, I knew I had to get this. When I applied it, I was surprised at how different it was from what I expected. Instead of honey-caramel-chocolate apples, I got bark-covered apples. As it dried, though, the bark fell away and I got sweet apples. No honey or caramel or even a crisp apple scent, just a soft, sweet apple.

    Hamadryad

This is an oddly sweet, sort of woody-herbal scent. It’s a little spicy, and warm, like spiced tea. As it dries, it develops a cinnamonny scent, which is warm and lovely.

    Feu Follet

So pretty. The jasmine, rose, and heliotrope combine to make a lovely light floral blend. Sadly, it doesn't last nearly long enough on my skin.

    Glitter

On the surface, this smells like bubblegum. Pink, tooth-achingly sweet bubblegum. Underneath the bubblegum façade (which is the lotus, I believe) is the dry white wine and heliotrope. No pear yet, but I’m not missing it. The heliotrope and lotus are lovely enough on their own!

    Fae

Gorgeous! The peach and the heliotrope are dazzling, with the musk giving it more depth. This is one of BPAL’s effervescent scents. It’s a crisper, bubbly version of Tamora. I love this. How did the Lab know I was looking for a sparkling fruit scent?

    Eve

Mmm. Apples, rose and honey. I can’t pick out the ylang ylang, but it’s just as well. Absolutely lovely.

    Empyreal Mist

Oh gorgeous. Is this pear? It smells like pear. Apple blossom? Very clean and delicate. Sweet, in a pale green way. I adore this. I wish it lasted a little longer on my skin, though.

    Eidolon

In the vial, this is bitter, but on the skin, it’s lemon. The cedar adds an interesting dimension. On my skin, it’s very clearly lemon over cedar. No sage, no bergamot., but lovely just the same.

    Eos

This smells of honeysuckle and jasmine, though I can’t say I know what buttercup smells like. The honeysuckle eventually overtakes the jasmine, making this almost a single note. This is lovely.
  22. Gin

    Coyote

This is lovely! Much softer than I expected. On my first try, it smelled very fresh and not musky or ambery at all. Now on my second, I can smell the musk and doeskin and grass and woods. It's more dry than I expected, and a little sharp.
  23. Gin

    Delirium

What a fabulous surprise! I applied this without looking up the description and got lovely lemon-rose! This is like a less-subtle version of Lush’s Amandopondo scent. Gorgeous and perfect for spring!

    Centzon Totochtin

Grape and chocolate? And coffee? Interesting. As it dries, the spiced chocolate and grapey wine battle it out for dominance. I hope the chocolate emerges as the victor, but the wine adds a depth and richness. I imagine I smell some tobacco in here, too. This is wonderful!

    The Coiled Serpent

Patchouli and… vetiver? Maybe some wood notes as well. This is spicy and earthy.
