    Eos

This was a surprise hit for me. I normally can't do florals. Jasmine initially does it's overwhelming thing. But then there's a while of sweet, gorgeous honeysuckle. The best part for me is the drydown, which is a wonderful skin musk just barely tinged with floral.

    O

O is the second most popular girl in school, but she's certainly the most interesting. This bottle of precious, like most women, is much better aged and mellowed. O is one of those "Love it or Loathe it" scents and I it. It's sweet, but not cloying. Ambery, but not overly powdery. Vanilla makes it yummy, but not too foody. The combination produces a skin-musk scent that is very evocative of clean, sea-salted, sun-warmed skin. O is okay fresh from the lab, but give it 8 or so months and you'll have a real treasure on your hands. My older bottles have started to develop a breath of chocolatey/nutty/beurre noisette that I really like. It takes the scent from being pure golden clear generic honey to being an artisanal honey from happy, sexed up bees.

    Troll

Happily, the lab frimped Troll in my latest order, because I probably would have never gotten around to ordering it on my own. It is not as dark and fearsome as the description would have you believe. Actually, it is a pleasant, soft green scent that is very grounded. It reminds me of a damp conifer forest floor. It does seem a bit foody, but that's not my first impression. This scent would be marvelous on a man, nice as a room scent (especially if you happen to have a lodge or cabin), and daring and unique on a woman.

  5. I will take back every unkind word I ever uttered about Boomslang - it's great (aged). I also love Coral Snake and Green Tree Viper. They're very nice when fresh. I have bottles of Temple Viper and Saw-Scaled Viper, but they're aging because they seemed to have that new plastic smell that I get from fresh Snake Oil.

    Freak Show

First of all, let me say I received a testable bottle from the lovely and generous ifinena I can smell chocolate and fruit in the bottle. Wet on the skin is where the fun begins. There's that honey+musk = sex note that makes O and Skuld smell so fabulous to me and so vile to others. Only in Freak Show it's, well, freaky. If O is clean, wholesome, summery boinking on a hot deserted beach, then Freak Show is the wee hours at a San Francisco S&M club. Very, very dirty and disturbing. Honey, musk, fig and cocoa like I have never seen them. Once dry, Freak Show puts on its sensible shoes and goes to work at the Public Library. No one is the wiser about the wild inner core because now it smells of soft and gorgeous, lemon, bergamot and vanilla. Nothing could be more prim and proper. Amazing. I'd really like to have a full bottle of this.
  7. Love Me is my absolute favorite conjure bag oil. I bought a 5ml. I have noticed it really works; maybe too well. I will occasionally use Blockbuster at work for a sort of quick gathering of wits and I have used it while wearing Love Me; but I didn't notice any synergistic effect.
  8. I recently read about some studies that indicate frankincense is a natural anti-depressant. They were discussing it as burned incense, not oil, but I suppose the oils might work too. A quick peek at my database reveals a selection ofblends with frankincense: Kostnice - Wanderlust (discontinued though) : Frankincense, rosewood, lily, and geranium rose. No. 93 Engine - Steamworks: Balm of Gilead, benzoin, frankincense, balsam of peru, beeswax, saffron, galbanum, calamus, hyssop, mastic, lemon balm, and white sage. Hymn - Sin & Salvation: perfect rose absolute and Palestinian Lily of the Valley with olibanum, labdanum, frankincense and myrrh. Faustus - Sin & Salvation: frankincense and cinnamon, darkened by violet. Penitence - Sin & Salvation: frankincense and graceful myrrh. Pumpkin V 2008 - Halloweenie: Pumpkin with cranberry, strawberry, red musk, red rose, rosehip, frankincense, fig, jasmine, and carnation. Eclipse - Bewitching Brews: A delicious blend of bitter almond, vanilla, frankincense and heliotrope, with a drop of cinnamon. This one has the distinction of being lighter and more floral, I think it's gorgeous. Lex Bijoux - Ars Amatoria: Skin musk and honey, blood-red rose, orange blossom, white peach, red apple, frankincense and myrrh. Dionysia - Carnival Diabolique: Wild plum, pomegranate, raspberry, Siamese benzoin, plum blossom, patchouli, frankincense, and mahogany. Of course, there's oodles more. Personally I find Doc Constantine's Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener to be a great mood elevator for me. I simply can't maintain a grim mood while wearing it!!

    No News Is Good News

Cool - an OCM blog!! During the winter I add a tiny bit of liquid glycerin to my toner to combat dryness. (My toner is 2% liquid salicylic acid mixed with my OCM oil about 8:1) I don't use any other moisturizer.

    Where is this scent?

Y'know, it does smell like that description, so I think you're right. The chocolate is much less obvious than my more recent 13. I'm assuming all the 13s a bit different from one another? PS: what is Bat's day?

    Where is this scent?

I have a mystery decant. The label says "12-07 pink label" so I thought it was a 13, but there was not a Friday the 13th in Dec 2007 and I got the decant in Nov 07. What else could it be? It smells kinda fruity.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Have you tried La Belle Au Bois Dormant? "The Sleeping Beauty. A gentle, lovely scent, slightly soporific, but beautiful in its quiet repose. Plumeria and white pear, Damascus rose, tuberose, magnolia and evening dew" I just got it as a frimp, and while I don't care for florals, I'd say it is lovely and very light and fresh. It's really quite lovely.

    Sticky Pillowcase

Mmmmm. Not nearly as sweet as I was expecting, but quite nice. I get a bit of booziness (?!?!) and oddly enough I get the blue spun sugar too. Very pale, powdery blue. I'd bet my bottom dollar there's just a drop of lavender in this. I get no fruit, no strawberry, which makes me sad. Actually, in a blind-sniff test I would have guessed this was from the Atomic Luau Lounge. I like it. I'm not sure if I'll get a full bottle though because I'm currently swimming in a lot of sugary, sweet, foody scents. If it had strawberry for me, I probably would. The label is cute and I adore the concept of this scent.

    Red Musk

How'sa bout Loviatar: The slap of slick, hot leather punctuates the warm, sensual embrace of black amber, red musk and dark, lascivious myrrh. Hollywood Babylon: glittering Egyptian amber and heliotrope, infused with the sweetness of strawberry and vanilla - dragged into debauch by lusty red musk and a dribble of black cherry. Midnight Kiss: red musk, cocoa absolute, Nepalese amber, red sandalwood, aged patchouli, nicotiana, and blood wine. 3 pretty different blends and all pretty darn good.

    Fearful Pleasure

Damn. Within moments this leapt to the top of my apple favorites. Actually, it may end up near the top of all my favorites. It's a really beautiful apple cider. I get predominantly apple and cinnamon, but it's not candylike. A really lovely fall scent.

  18. I'll add my voice to the throng of endorsements for Doc's SSS. It is a thing of wonderment, a divine gift of buttery rootbeery delicousness. I'm all agog. I get no snaily bits from this. Eat Me

Initially this is delicious vanilla and sweet cake. The currant slowly emerges until at day's end there is a decided spiciness that is reminiscent of patchouli, woods and resins. Just glorious.

    Sea of Glass

Cleanliness is next to Godliness. This smells overwhelmingly of soap. Clean, Holy soap. I'm not a fan of aquatics or ozone or florals, so I would have been surprised if it had worked.

  25. I am a foody whore that specializes in sweet. So DLTC is pure sticky sweet heaven to me. I think this maybe the sweetest blend I've ever tested and I just wallow in it like a fat, happy pig. It isn't overly cloying though, because the ginger and citrus keeps things tangy. I so wish I had a bottle, my decant isn't going to last very long at all.
