    Twenty-One

imp: a sweet, fizzy citrus scent. smells yummy! wet: this is glorious fizzy gin with a twist. dry: this is more straight-up gin as it dries. very juniper-y.

    Hollywood Babylon

imp: sweet red musk. wet: sweet, fruity musk and amber. this reminds me of a cross between kabuki and aunt caroline's joy mojo. dry: as this dries the musk strengthens and improves, it's sweet but not overpowering. bottle-worthy.

    Hell's Belle

imp: sweet, citrus-y, spicy musk. wet: this is a gorgeous musk scent, all creamy orange and piquant spices. i think i see a bottle in my future! dry: sweet, spicy musk. just the same as it was when wet, perhaps a little stronger. definite bottle purchase.

    Tisiphone

imp: strong ylang ylang. urg. wet: ylang ylang and nothing else. i was hoping for at least some patchouli. dry: this is much nicer once dry, the ylang ylang is very tame though i'm still not getting any patchouli.

    Marquise de Merteuil

imp: sweet, flowery peach. wet: darn, there must be rose in this. for a moment this is a blissful peach flower and then it turns sharply soapy. dry: no vetiver, no amber, no peach... just soapy florals.

    El Dorado

imp: very rich copal. wet: very, thick, warm copal. this could be a copal sn on my skin. dry: this is incredible. it's exactly like when i burn copal resin on charcoal discs. might be needing a bottle of this.

    Sundew

imp: golden petals, wet greenery and soft, warm spice. wet: this is a rich spicy golden scent with a nice greenery scent but there's also an unusual backnote... sort of a dusty scents... interesting. dry: this is best when dry. sweet golden flowers, greenery swaying in the breeze, late afternoon sun warming everything perfectly.

    Screeching Parrot

(this is my review of the gc version of this scent, my original review is here.) imp: ginger-apricot rum. wet: this is a gorgeous ginger-apricot-grapefruit scent. this reminds me of alice's evidence. dry: yup, on the drydown this reminds me more and more of alice's evidence. i think i've fallen in love with one of my favorite scents all over again!

    Rangoon Riptide

(this is my review of the gc version of this scent, my original review is here.) imp: scary chemical pineapple. wet: sweet fresh pineapple and rum! this smells almost like a pina colada except for the lack of coconut. dry: the pineapple fades to a soft, sweet "fruit" scent above a light rum scent. much more subdued than the le version.

    Golden Wave

(this is my review of the gc version of this scent, my original review is here.) imp: gin with a twist of tangerine, very crisp! wet: this smells like it would be a delicious drink. it's gin-heavy but it's also fruit-heavy. the tangerine is lovely while the guava and passionfruit are more subtle. dry: the gin softens beautifully but i still get whiffs of it's crisp piney-ness against the sweet fruit.

    Blue Fire

(this is my review of the gc version of this scent, my original review is here.) imp: very sweet and fruity, not exactly papaya though. wet: very fizzy soda with a tropical fruit feel. not getting much specific fruit though. dry: this doesn't smell like gin at all, my sweeter and less crisp. the fruit is a hint, nice and subdued.

    Mahana

imp: ack! the scary chemical pineapple scent! wet: extra-heavy and syrupy almond/orgeat. dry: as this dries, it tones down a bit but it is still pure almond/orgeat on me. might be nice for layering.

    Polynesian Pop

imp: fizzy ginger ale. wet: this smells like ginger ale with a very, very strong dash of orange bitters in it. dry: this is a bit too sharp for my taste. while i normally love citrus scents, this is a very bitter orange one dry.

    Aremata-Popoa

imp: black berry booze and tea. yummy! wet: this is a lovely blackberry tea scent. it smells only slightly spicy, yet i get no anise from it. dry: lovely. this has softened and warmed to the most delicious tea and fruit scent, not strongly blackberry just rich fruit. will be getting a bottle.

    Red Tide

imp: cranberry and gin. i love gin and this does not disappoint and a lovely gin scent. wet: this has a very nice gin bite to it as it hits my skin, very realistic. not getting anything close to mango or mint, it's gin and cranberry with a dash of raspberry. dry: bright cranberry and gin with the occasional hint of raspberry. this reminds me of the hamptons once dry, but it's a bit more sharp, more boozy rather than a refined alcohol.

    Pahoehoe

imp: banana and coconut. this smells yummy and i've already decided that i will be buying a bottle of this scent. wet: glorious! this is what creepy would be like if it had banana instead of apple. the grenadine is faint but every once in a while i catch a distinct whiff of it and it's beautiful. dry: this is very sweet grenadine over a rich banana-coconut scent once dry. this morphs quite a bit but i love every phase and can't wait to get a bottle so i can wear this as often as the mood strikes me.

What do bottles and labels look like?

yay! so glad i ordered imps of everything but i'm already thinking that i'm gonna buy bottles of each of the new scents...
  19. nope, doesn't work for me either. i have three tombstone frimps of varying age (one with my last order) from the lab but none of them even smelled close to the glory of la pere fouettard.
  20. depraved & goblin were what i first thought when i saw the title to this thread and since others have already recommended them, i add my voice to the choir.

    Tiki Princess

bottle: delicious, watery coconut. wet: i don't think this smells at all like snow white, though i did get a coconut/floral vibe from snow white, this is closer to obatala. this is soft, watery young coconut, not the old shredded stuff. the florals make this bright a sunny fresh. dry: this just lasts and lasts and lasts. still bright coconut, vibrant florals and that sweet watery feel make this a new favorite. i think i see a back-up bottle in my future.

    Fledgling Raptor Moon

bottle: beautiful clove! reminds me of the winter of our discontent from 2006, that sort of clove. wet: on my skin, this is very similar to the winter of our discontent. this is a bit creamier, not quite as spicy but i'm very surprised at how similar they smell. dry: this dries to soft woods, clove and creamy sandalwood. so beautiful, i wish i'd picked up a second bottle.

    BPAL rec's for Non-BPALers?

well, snake oil and dorian seem like obvious choices. they are very widely popular and while i don't go as nuts for them as most people, i think they are good choices. my personal choices would be things like bordello, shub-niggurath, carnal & kabuki. i might even offer shango (it's the oil that's given me the most compliments from complete strangers). i stuck with general catalog scents because if someone likes one of the scents you send along it's gonna be far easier for them to get more than to try to track down a limited edition.
  24. it's probably nothing to worry about but if you are concerned just e-mail customer service and bill will let you know what is up. they have the friendliest customer service people ever. though, just to give you an idea, when i first got into bpal in 2006, it took 5 1/2 weeks for them to even harvest my order. it was a solid two months from the day i ordered before it actually arrived. when i read your post and saw it had been 17 days i suddenly remembered how it used to be and am appreciative of how much they've improved the turn around time, it's nice to get an order in only a few weeks.

    Ogygia

imp: very crisp, brash aquatic. it's difficult to smell anything else. wet: much more woodsy that i would have expected at first sniff. plus the aquatic, while very strong, is not overpowering. i actually find myself sniffing my wrist and liking this scent. dry: this is far more grassy than aquatic as it dries and i like it much better in the dry stage. the woods are faint but a nice undertone.
