bottle: neroli and honey with a hint of amber. wet: this is sweet and golden once applied, all amber and musk and honey... dry: this goes honey-sweet once dry with only a touch of lemon and musk while the amber is quite creamy.
-
bottle: pines, musk, amber sandalwood... where has this blend been all my life...? wet: this is pine and sandalwood on me, like a snow-less version of old moon. super cold and feral, love it. dry: this dries to sweet sharp pine and creamy sandalwood. a definite keeper. (edited for spelling idiocy)

bottle: pear with florals... and then some more pear. wet: the jasmine flares up but the pear is keeping it well under control. dry: this is pear and jasmine once dry as well, but for once (just once, mind you) i am totally loving the scent of jasmine. this smells just like jasmine flowers on the plant, that sort of sweet freshness you can bury your face in. and, well, i just love pear regardless.

imp: citrus, lavender and mint. i can already tell i will be needing a whole bottle of this scent. wet: this is all lime and mint on me, very green, light and pretty. also, this is a very clean scent. dry: the lavender appears again, but it's light, like when the plant is first blooming, the citrus is nice and crisp while the mint is sweet.
-
imp: wet, ripe fruits and berries surrounded by flowers. this is almost too sweet. wet: this reminds me of the super-sweet fruity scent that sits in the house while i'm making jam. dry: the fruitiness dies down a little once it's dry, but this scent it still all playful and giggly sweet. added to the to-buy bottle list.
-
bottle: this has the same sharp, acrid scent as both october and november did. wet: once applied this turns piney and damp, much nicer than either october or november were on me (phew!). this reminds me of something like old moon or moon of ice without the sweet, snowy scent. i think slave1 has it right when she calls this an "earthy aquatic". dry: this dried smelling very damp and green. i seriously love this scent.

my favourite violet is the raven. it's also one of the few violet scents that really, really works on me. also adore la befana, it's a different sort of violet but it still really works on my skin. (woo! this is my 1000th post! i'm a super member now!)

The scent of tea - BPAL's tea note, BPAL blends like your favorite tea
hkhm replied to sarada's topic in Recommendations
sadly, i don't get any tea from white rabbit either. more like the feel of sitting down to tea, but not the scent of tea itself. for my tea needs i turn to either plunder or bengal. both are made of spicy, chai-tea yum. -
Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations

boomslang. eat me. cockaigne. -
imp: bergamot, anise and patchouli. this smells sweet and sexy! wet: bergamot and leather. and let me say: this is one seriously sexy combination. dry: bergamot and anise. ths is the most tea-ish scent i've smelled yet.
-
imp: sharp grass, woods and musk. wet: the grass steals the stage here, unfortunately. when grass is the topnote it rarely works out for me. there is a nice undertone of musk though. dry: the grass just won't fade, it's still quite strong. darn.
-
imp: dirt and magnolia. yum. wet: wow! bay rum and moss and dirt. can't wait to try this one on my husband... the dirt smell is less than zombi but still quite nice. dry: moss and dirt with a background hint of bay rum. this is very nearly a bottle for me if my husband decides he doesn't want one.

This is the final Full Moon of winter. The call of the crow signals the end of the frost, and their scent, of vervain, black violet, white musk, and Chinese cedar, is brushed by the last cold wind of winter on their wings, and the scent of evergreen boughs touched by the season’s final flowers and the first blossoms of spring: wintersweet, green-barked dogwood, primrose, snowdrop, and lenten rose hellebore bouquet. bottle: this smells like soft pines and sweet new flowers. wet: i definitely smell the everygreen but the background smells like greenery, there's a sort of minty sweetness as well. so pretty. dry: this turns into swoon once dry, all lovely green sweetness on my skin.
-
bottle: sweet pea and chamomile, so soft and pretty. wet: the pear adds a wonderful sweetness and mixed with the sweet pea this is like a nice bath scent... except i don't have to soak for an hour to smell like it. i also get the occasional hint of the lettuce but it is just a soft, watery scent. dry: this is all sweet pea and soft florals. i love sweet pea to begin with so this is just wonderful in my book.
-
imp: sandalwood and musk with soft florals. i can almost pick out the lavender. wet: this goes all lavender on my skin. there is a bare whiff of musk but other than that, lavender. dry: the lavender fades off after a while leaving me back with the musk and assorted other florals.
-
imp: peach blossoms! this reminds me of a slightly fruitier version of aglaea. wet: peach and wisteria and musk. now this reminds me more of the cup of death. dry: this dries mostly peach but there are hints of the other florals and the musk. adding a bottle to my next order.
-
imp: honeyed florals. wet: the honey and cognac are foremost while the rose sits in the background threatening to turn the whole thing soapy. dry: yes! finally another scent that the rose does not ruin for me. this dries to a very honeyed cognac and stays put for a good, long while.
-
imp: vanilla and orange with a hint of lily. this reminds me of the scent of those vanilla and orange sherbet swirl cups. wet: vanilla and lilllies. this is much nicer than i would expect, the lily smells pretty rather than cloying. dry: the lily wins out in the end but stays so soft and sweet i actually like it. (edited for spelling idiocy)
-
imp: cypress and moss. wet: cypress with a touch of frankincense. i've noticed that whenever hazelnut is listed in the notes, i never seem to be able to detect it. dry: this dries to a soft cypress. unfortunately, it also fades very quickly on my skin.
-
bottle: amber and frangipani and citrus. wet: the frangipani and frankincense take center stage right away but then start to smooth out a few moments later. then the amber warms up and mixes with the various citrus notes. very warm and comforting. dry: the amber dries a bit more softly than usual while the citrus notes seem most dominant.
-
imp: dragon's blood and amber, so pretty. wet: the light floraly feel of dragon's blood with my skin's mega-amping of amber has created a scent that is beautiful and bottle-worthy. dry: sweet, ambery dragon's blood florals. this feels more feminine than the other ars draconis oils i've tried.
-
imp: caramel and musk and reall naughty honey. wet: honeyed musk with a hint of caramel. this is heady stuff, very strong even with the small amount i applied for the test. dry: honeyed, sweet, spiced musk. the spices smell like very strong incense spices yet without the smokiness of incense.
-
imp: considering i don't care for the scent of ylang ylang, i'm amazed i like the smell of this: clove and ylang ylang. wet: the ylang ylang is the strongest but the clove and patchouli are present as well. dry: well, the ylang ylang does eventually go horribly, horribly wrong on my skin. but it was nice for a little while.
-
imp: light patchouli and woods. wet: like a light patchouli incense. dry: this goes very woody once dry, like a tamer version of ventriloquist's dummy.
-
imp: what an interesting interpretation. i sniffed and sniffed from the imp and while there was definitely a perfume there, it's like it was made up of nothingness. i can't pick out any notes, it's there yet insubstantial. wet: very light musk, sandalwood, mint and lavender. this is a very gold-to-white fragrance with the green of tarnished copper around the edges. dry: i'm getting a little more of the citrus scent once this dries, but it is still very light musk and sandalwood overall.
