imp: rose and jasmine. this is gonna be tough. wet: gah! jasmine and... more jasmine. there is a cool, soft green feel behind the jasmine but it's so overpowered i can't appreciate it. dry: whew! the rose and jasmine fade away to the distance and this become soft, sweet and lightly green. very peaceful.

imp: smokey myrrh. wet: gorgeous smokey, sultry myrrh. dry: this dries to rich, sweet, smokey myrrh.
-
bottle: lemon verbena and spicy cherries. wet: lemon verbena and cinnamon. not bad, but it is very, very strong. dry: this stays pretty strong for a good, long while. i'm gonna age it up a bit to see if the lemon fades with time.
-
bottle: mildy spicy/leathery pumpkin. a hint of dirt in the background. wet: wow. dirt and pumpkin. and they smell gorgeous together! dry: sweet loamy dirt and spicy pumpkin. reminds me a little bit of what penny dreadful might smell like if pumpkin was added to the mix. keeper.

bottle: whoa! leather! wet: this like a mixture of brand new suede shoes and a nice well-worn leather jacket. dry: leather. yep, pretty much all leather.
-
bottle: woodsy underbrush. a little musk. wet: more musk and heavy woodsy resins. dry: this dries to a very woodsy green scent. not green like grass or cucumber, green like damp forests and thick fog.
-
bottle: patchouli, musk and vanilla wet: very strong patchouli and musk with a sweet kint of pomegranate and a nice smooth vanilla back. dry: gorgeous musk and patchouli with a sweet vanilla haze.
-
imp: sweet flowery pines. wet: this is all violet and pine on me, i think i'll be getting a bottle. dry: this softens to a soft, woodsy violet on my skin. far lovlier than i was expecting.
-
imp: gardenia, tobacco and orange. different in a pleasant way. wet: a mixture of very sweet flowers and very stale alcohol. and i normally love the booze scents. dry: the stale alcohol scent vanished pretty quickly, and this turned to super sweet gardenia. i'm starting to think i amp gardenia 'cause this is gardenia in the extreme.
-
bottle: this is like dorian with vanilla and a hint of lavender. wet: the snake oil is so well blended with the other notes that i am getting no skin reaction (snake oil makes me itchy for a few minutes after i apply). whatever that soft vanilla flower note is, it's what i'm getting most strongly with the dorian and snake oil as a backdrop. dry: wow. this is truly dorain and snake oil mixed with an incredibly rich, yet soft, vanilla holding the whole thing together. this is gorgeous!
-
bottle: i get the lavender, angelica and frankincense. this is sweetly herbal. wet: the lavender has an initial flare, no milk or baby powder to my nose. dry: i never got milk or baby powder from this scent. this is the sweetest sage you can imagine with angelica and orris and maybe a hint of the sweetest parts of lavender.it's smalles sweet to me, sweetly herbal. i like this so much more than i expected to.
-
bottle: creamy vanilla oranges. this reminds me of those little ice cream cups from my childhood. wet: this is delightful floral tea and oranges. not rose (read: soapy) at all on me. sweet and playful. dry: the rose stayed put! it did not ruin this lovely scent! huzzah! this dries to light, sweet lovely creamy oranges on my skin with a lightly floral backgroung. this smells like relaxing in the springtime under soft sunlight. very beautiful.

i too was wondering if there were any other good cucumber scents... i have the first black moon, green phoenix, tulzscha & sturgeon moon but they're not quite cucmber-y enough for me, though tulzscha is close. i'm thinking i'll add an imp of squirting cucumber to my next order.

Snake Oil Help! Layering it, Snake Pit scents, blends with Snake Oil
hkhm replied to spaceprostitute's topic in Recommendations
honestly, anaconda is the best snake oil blend i've tried. it's so sweet and yummy, i would buy several bottles if i could. coral snake if my favourite from the pit (well, next to anaconda) followed by australian copperhead and, of all things, boomslang (i tend to dislike chocolate notes). i can barely detect the snake oil-ness in australian copperhead. it's just doesn't have that tang to me. all of the rest of the pit i can detect it at least a little but not in australian copperhead. all that said: i was never terribly fond of snake oil. it smells good but reacts to my skin and burns for a little while. plus, it's so strong i get a headache. but i really like all of the snake pit blends. i've actually contemplated ordering another full pit before they come down. -
imp: very light wisteria. sort of sweet and sad. wet: gah! all soapy, terrible rose. dry: still soap. oh well.
-
imp: i don't care for rose and lotus is iffy but this imp smells divine! so beautiful and feminine. wet: the rose just wants to go all soapy on me... but it can't and for once, a rose blend has made me smile. well-done! dry: this never went soapy, not even a little! i'm impressed! a very pretty floral, i would wear this to a wedding.
-
imp: wet, fresh gardenia. wet: whoa! vetiver gardenias! so that's what they'd smell like... very strong throw and wearlength on my skin. dry: leathery gardenia. i could see this scent being a hit on the right person, it's very unique.
-
imp: sort of the darkness of patchouli (without being patchouli) with an herbal orange feel. i think there's vetiver here. wet: this is like a light vetiver and herbal scent on me. unusual, but very appealing. dry: there is something orangey here and perhaps a bit of musk. i think i might get a bottle of this!
-
imp: very light dirt scent. milder than zombi and graveyard dirt. wet: this is a more herbal dirt scent to me. where penny dreadful is spicy dirt, this is herbal dirt. dry: the dirt just vanishes when this dries and i get the unusual scent of pencil shavings and band-aids. odd.
-
imp: honeyed vanilla with a light floral background. wet: for once, the jasmine is not headache-inducing in me. it is so sweet mixed with the honey i actually like it! dry: this dries to a sweet, strong honeyed vanilla with a light floral back. this is intensely pretty.
-
imp: seriously sharp apricot. wet: very floral apricot. this doesn't smell like orange blossom... maybe more like watered-down jasmine? dry: this fades to something more tame but i doubt i could sit through the cloying wet phase again to get here. and i thought i was going to love this blend!

2008 version bottle: ah, sugar! the candied fruits scent is a touch stronger this year. wet: yep, there are the candied fruits... hiding behind this mountain of sugary goodness. the sugar is brighter this year, not as brown-sugary. dry: nice. i get the lightest fruit scent once this is dry. otherwise: this is, as usual, delicious sugary goodness.

bottle: not much pumpkin here. i smell the rosehips and jasmine and some other herbal scent but no pumpkin. wet: the rose is trying it's darndest to ruin this scent for me. but it ends up smelling like a cranberry/floral fragrance. is there really pumpkin here? dry: well, the rose has not ruined this scent exactly, but it's far more herbal than i would have expected. no pumpkin to speak of, but what remains is interesting. i'll have to test this one again to see if it's a keeper. kind of an herbal carnation and musk scent.

bottle: honey, tobacco and vanilla. no pumpkin at all. wet: this is not a pumpkiny pumpkin at all. the tobacco and vanilla are incredible and the pumpkin is only evident in a fresh-cut feel in the background. even if you don't care for pumpkin scents, you may want to try this one. dry: i'm getting a lot of the cherry tobacco scent once dry. still no pumpkin but i adore what i am smelling.

bottle: pumpkin and lime. wet: the cirtus is very sweet, mostly lime and graperfruit with a hint of yuzu while the pumpkin takes the background. dry: imagine the best parts of sweet citrus and sprinkle that over the yummiest parts of sweet pumpkin. a very feminine pumpkin.
