imp: aftershave. just plain ol' aftershave. wet: very crisp citrus, more lemon peel than lemon pulp. dry: this has a more watery citrus scent after it's dried. it's a little too strong for me but i like it nonetheless.
-
imp: like melon-y water. wet: salt-water melons... and maybe grass. dry: the melon-y scent fades away leaving only a fainty grassy, very salty aquatic scent.
-
imp: honeyed balm of gilead. this is far prettier than i was expecting. wet: the lemon balm and sage spring forward with the balm of gilead. still a bit honeyed. dry: the notes seems to meld together more once dry, i can't tell them apart anymore! but they're still gorgeous. bottle-worthy.
-
imp: wet, juicy cucumber. wet: very grassy cucumber. this just smells like clean, fresh springtime to me. dry: this fades pretty quickly but it's very pretty while it's around.
-
bottle: this smells just like prospero (grape!) with a bitter leather scent in the background. wet: this is evil grapes and blood. it's like if prospero and tintagel has a very evil offspring. dry: as this dries the grape really sweetens up. the blood and clove and leather all sit in the background. this is a sexy, brooding scent.
-
bottle: wet greenery with a light mint touch. wet: this has a similar feel to some of the arkham scents, kind of like an evil grapfruit or kumquat scent. there's sort of an afterthought scent of something cucumberish here as well. no mint or violet to speak of. dry: this smells very similar to night-gaunt to me. it's incredibly lovely.
-
bottle: hyssop and walnut with a sort of dark woodsy scent. wet: the chamomile and walnut are foremost with the musk. this has a sort of backgrounds woodsy feel. dry: as this dries, there is more of a damp dirt, dark woods, wet forest scent. it smells like ancient trees. gorgeous.
-
bottle: musk with a spicy citrus note and that pink pepper buzz. wet: i don't get any sort of root beer scent, i'm getting a crazy-strong pink pepper and hyacinth scent. it's nice but insanely strong. dry: this does not seem to fade at all. good thing i love the pink pepper because that's all i can smell now.
-
bottle: cherries, tobacco and dirt. this will require a second bottle. wet: oh my god! this is the most sexy scent i have smelled in a while! deep rich loamy dirt, smoky tobacco, syrupy cherries, glorious musk i cannot stop sniffing my arm. dry: the tobacco fades the teensiest bit and the musk goes all mellow while the dirt stays rich and potent. my absolute favourite phoenix. (edited for spelling idiocy)
-
bottle: i get mainly musk, honeysuckle and carnations. wet: this is the scent of a robotic carnation. seriosly, it's carnations with a metallic tang to them. dry: metallic flowers. as odd as this sounds, this is an incredibly delicate scent.
-
bottle: watery juniper. very pretty. wet: i am not a huge fan of aquatics in general but whoa does this smell good. i don't know if it's the sweet pea or the lily or what but this smells so watery and sweet and floral. dry: this is very watery/grassy once dry. i'll have to make sure to apply sparingly because this is strong and long-lasting.
-
bottle: sugary pomegranate. wet: this goes all fizzy, sweet and black curranty once applied. very playful. dry: i can finally smell the pear! this is wonderfully fruity and sweet.
-
bottle: strawberry icing on rich, creamy cheesecake. wet: this almost turns to sugar cookies with strawberry icing. dry: cupcakes with strawberry icing. so yummy. (this is the beaver'versary version)
-
bottle: hmmm... amber and coconut. and, yep, this is the resurrected version. wet: ahhhh.... there it is. amber and vanilla and coconut and... mmmm... oh yeah... dry: pretty much the same. the 2006 one i have is much more sexy but i'm certain that this will be the same in a few years.
-
imp: lots of lily. wet: whoa! opium and lilies! dry: i'm not a big fan of strong opium scents or lilies and they are both so strong here as to be overpowering.
-
imp: orangey narcissus. wet: very strong narcissus, the orange and vanilla are erally just softening up the narcissus here. dry: mostly narcissus. this has a musky feel, that slinky feel that musk gives a scent.
-
imp: wow. gingery incense. wet: no wonder everybody loves this scent. it's like iced gingersnap incense. i will need a bottle of this. dry: this never seems to fade. lovely spicy, peppery ginger goodness.
-
imp: banana. it's the same yummy banana scent i get from shango. wet: wet fruits (with banana) and a floral scent. dry: this dries to a lush, floral fruity scent. not strong on banana, but it's still there, lurking in the background. bottle-worthy.
-
bottle: sweet, caramely teak. wet: this is creepy (with less rum), glowing vulva at rygoku bridge and sugar-slathered candied apple all rolled into one. very sexy. dry: the caramel fades as this dries making it more sweet appley teak than anything else. this is so sweet and sexy. very glad to have a bottle.
-
bottle: the sandalwood and patchouli are pretty tame. i mostly get soft, wet moss. wet: wow. the sandalwood goes all warm and creamy once applied. the moss and patchouli are in the background being all dark and earthy. dry: the patchouli is more prominent as this dries and fades a bit. the moss is definitely the backdrop. the sandalwood just stays yummy and creamy.
-
bottle: sharp greenery. this is very similar to both october and november. wet: this is sharp and grassy light irish spring with the volume turned way up. dry: this dries a bit tamer but it's still quite strong. intense grass.
-
Sublime peace, ecstatic joy, and thunderstruck awe: terebinth pine, patchouli, brown musk, linden blossom, honey, mallow, blood orange, heliotrope, and golden amber. bottl: whoa! linden! there's orange, pine and heliotrope as well. very vibrant. wet: this is faint pine, juicy orange, spicy amber... this smells like sunlight. it's just golden and luminous. dry: this dries to honeyed amber, orange and a touch of something earthy. lovely.
-
bottle: sweet, bright frankincense. there's also a sort of fizzy/fruity scent which might be the grape but doesn't smell "grapey". wet: how to describe this? a frankincense cola beverage? i find this blend completely entrancing, it's absolutely lovely on my skin. dry: faint frankincese, perhaps a hint of spiciness, and a light fizzy, scent. unique and gorgeous.
-
bottle: sage and olive blossom. this is pretty light. wet: tobacco flower heaven! wow! i still get some sage and a bit of ginger. everything else is pretty faint. dry: olive blossom again, with benzoin and a bit of the tobacco flower. this has a sort of southwestern, sage-brush feel to it. very nice.
-
bottle: flowery! this has a candy-ish quality as well. it's quite sweet and a bit tropical feeling. wet: finally! a floral blend that doesn't go cloying on me. it's not as candy-like anymore... something in it reminds me of a less tangy version of kitsune-tsuki. dry: this just fades and fades and fades until it's pretty faint. i wasn't sure i'd like this one, it's nice to be pleasantly surprised.
