When I opened my decant of this today, I was trying to figure out what it reminded me of. I went back and pulled out my imp of lightning and they smelled very similar to me! (The ozone?) I already have 3 dabs of oils on me in various places so I didn't actually reapply lightning and test it to see but in looking at my notes on it they seem very similar. So far it hasn't turned to powder on me (which so many things seem to do!) It's stayed faintly sharp and clean but hasn't gotten too overpowering...yet. Jury is still out on this one!

I thought I had a mislabeled decant as well! My first thought on the skin was pine, but not in a pine-sol scent. More like a winter, walking through the woods pine. After it dried back a bit, it definitely amped up with something sticky and sweet but sharp (the resins?). The grape, finally started coming through about 20 minutes later, but I really had to dig to get that. For about 5 minutes it was way too overpowering but now it's not so bad. Scratch that...the longer I'm wearing it the sweeter and more cloying it gets. It's actually starting to catch in the back of my throat to where I can taste it.

2007: I don't get any bakery or cake-y scent with All Souls but I definitely get a blend of incense with this one. It's not a scent that I would wear but it did give me happy thoughts because I thought it smelled like a witchy bookstore that sells incense and candles and all sorts of lovely things. The kind of shop where you walk in and can't really make out one incense scent over another but smell a great combination of all of them. It was definitely a memory smell for me. After it fades back a little more, it smells more spicy-sweet and foody than a blend of incenses. Not quite cake but definitely food-y, and a bit too overpowering.

In the decant: Sweet, ripe pears with a bit of that tangy bite. My initial thought just in the decant was "Bottle!" Wet: Very, very sweet, but not sickeningly so. It took me a second to get "pears" out of it with the sweetness.I don't think I've ever naturally smelled pears like this though, canned or otherwise, whereas in the bottle it was more realistic. The sweetness isn't cloying though and although it was *very* sweet, it wasn't overpowering. Quick-Dry: It took a bit for the vanilla to come through, but there it is warm and blending with the pears to make a creamy sweetness that doesn't turn (for once) powdery on me. After a bit the pear pretty much disappears but the sweetness of the vanilla is still there without smelling like a vanillorama tree. It has a pretty weak throw for me. Dry Down: I'm bummed. The vanilla didn't turn plastic on me like it did the others, but it got...sharp. The pear is pretty much gone completely and now it's sweet without being creamy. My initial draw to The Perilous Parlor was that it was sweet and creamy but delicate at the same time. Not so much anymore. We'll see what it does later on, but I think I'm going to pass on the bottle. Maybe in would work in a tart burner?
