Faith isn't a scent I would have picked out for myself, but a generous swapper gifted me with a testable sniffle. In vial: Smells like peeps! On: I smell like I've dunked my arms in a vat of cotton candy. After the first wave of sugaromg passes, it mellows to a sweet, creamy loveliness. It's so not me - I like my sweet scents to be foody like whoa - but I'm somewhat intrigued by violet now. Oddly, it earned the rare approval of the boyfriend. It remains much the same hours later... I'm surprised at how long such a delicate scent is lasting.

Gack. Lemony, bittersweet shock in the bottle. On me -- lavender and what I assume is the dianthus - sharp, astringent, unpleasant and somehow reminiscent of cat piss. Calms down a bit and becomes a sweet-bitter blackberry medicinal candy. Blackberry rising...still undermined by sour-bitter-oddness. There are brief moments where the blackberry becomes almost lovely, but never quite makes it. Yicky.

Ooh! Red and resinous with a hint of cedar or balsam. Unexpectedly warm and cozy. I was sure this would be dry, dry, dry and sneeze-making. But no! As it dries, I do get a musty-dusty-old furniture sort of smell..but in a good way. So comforting, this scent. I so want to layer this with The Red Queen. ..And it lasts! Hours later, I still have this wonderful woodsy musk floating around me. I love this. Oh my.

Yeurgh.. this is aquatic and perfumey on me..I daresay I almost smell like a wet dog. I get a bit of smokiness as it dries and then I become 'smoky wet dog'. ...Man. Reading everyone else's reviews makes me feel as though I should give this another chance, but I'm not sure I'm up to it.

2007 Version Oh, weird. It smells like a garden center or like Florida on a sunny day! Bagged soil, tropical flowers and leafy green things. This is such an interesting thing to smell like, I almost want a bottle. ...or not. Upon drydown, it turns much more perfume-like - I wonder if it's because of the geranium? Smelling this for too long makes me feel a little ill, and is beginning to trigger my allergies. Dangit.

Blech, blech, ptui! Oh, *gods*, this is evil. It smells like a port-a-potty. 'Damp' and 'murky' indeed, and scented with disinfectant. It actually dries down better than I'd expected -- turns into an ozone-y version of those 'melon and cucumber' lotions on the market. That said, I don't happen to like those lotions, so I don't much like this.

Wowzer! Crazy sharp ginger and root beer, ridden by creamy vanilla froth. Sounds good, and from a distance it is...but that sharp edge is unpleasant; it's like a musty old entry closet, filled with vacuums, feather dusters, and a whiskey-stained coat with cough drops in the pocket.

In the vial: Delicious BPAL pumpkin and white grape juice! My stomach is growling... On: There's a very bitter edge that reminds me of the bitterness in The Hesperides. Like that scent, there's danger in putting it too near one's nose (burns, precious, burns); but unlike it, the scent wafting around me is kinda almost delicious, if bordering on sickly sweet. Dry: Very faint, fruity tea smell. Not at all a 'me' kind of scent.

Upon sniffing the vial, I thought this would be like an aquatic-turned-evil on me, but surprise! The mint lifts it up and polishes it all sparkly-like. This is walking in the rain under flickering lights, in Spring, with wet greenery all around. Lovely. Eventually dries down to a slightly singed smelling powder. I think that might be the ambergris, which tends to do that to me. It's still somehow not a bad scent. I think the few hours that this is fresh, clean, and happy make this more than worth keeping. ..Weird. I sniffed it one last time before retiring to bed, and it smelled like metal.

Traditionally, Beaver Moon is named thus for a very obvious reason: during this time of year, beavers are hard at work building their dams and preparing for the onset of winter. However, we at BPAL rarely let an opportunity for sleazy campiness pass us by! For your pleasure and amusement, we present this year's incarnation of Beaver Moon: wild cherry with vanilla cream accord, and a hint of strawberry. I'm rarely fond of strawberry scents, but I wanted to try this for the cherry and vanilla cream notes. When I smelled the vial, I figured this might be a loss as it smelled of strawberry pop-tarts. But oh, was it delicious when I put it on! Angel food cake, topped with cherries and whipped cream. Nom nom. There is one odd thing about it - as it dries, there's a hint of that old books/burnt paper smell that Miskatonic University has. I find it only lasts an hour or so, but it's quite strong for the first 30 minutes. It garnered a 'something smells good in here!' comment from a guest on the other side of the kitchen. (Her opinion: Raspberry hot chocolate or Fruity Pebbles.)
