Imp-> The frankincense and myrrh are very prominent. I'm not getting an pomegranate or even rose absolute right now. Wet-> Soapy amber-rose incense. Starts out sharp but is beginning to soften slightly as it dries. After a while-> A musky incensy rose. Still no hint of pomegranate, just dusty roses.

I've really been wanint a nice strawberry scent that doesn't turn to scented plastic on me, so maybe this will be the one! imp-> Smells exactly like it's name. Juice strawberries dipped in white chocolate. wet-> Luscious full bodied strawberries. The chocolate fades as as it dries the strawberry is taking on a slight sharp, sour note. after a while-> The white chocolate makes a slight come-back, but as cold chocolate opposed to warm melted chocolate. The strawberry is almost completely gone and it's slightly plasticy on me. *sigh* I guess it's just not meant to be...

In the imp-> First sniff is violet. A very purple scent. The orchid quickly shoves violet out of the way to make itself known. This reminds me a little of faintly scented baby wipes. Wet-> A slightly chemical purple and fizzy smelling scent. Like a baby wipe that was used to wipe grape soda off of a sticky child. After a while-> A grapey medicinal scent. Reminds me of the medicine Dimatap I think is what it was called? Grape and purple and sweet but not thick or syrupy.
-
In the imp-> The jasmine is very prominent. Upon a closer sniff, it's a slightly herbal/lemony jasmine. Wet-> The smell of roses drifts up to meet me. Sweet, herbal jasmine and roses. Still a slight lemon hint going on here. After a while-> Still a strong perfumy rose and jasmine scent. Very feminine, very floral. Not cloying but definitely noticeable. The lemon has disappeared completely.

In the imp-> Wow...this is not plain ol' lavender, this is LAVENDER! surrounded by blinky lights and jazz hands. Once I get past that initial lavender part, I get a rather tart and earthy vibe. wet-> A very strong lavender. The bergamot makes an appearance, but it's clear which note is wielding the whip here. After a while-> Wow...after about 2 hours this is gone. I can't even tell where I tested this! Talk about a wham, bam, thank you ma'am scent.

In the imp-> Everything is very well blended. I can pick out a hint of the skin musk and something sweet, which I'm thinking is the sugar cane. Not a terribly sharp scent, but I was expecting something a litter creamier. I get a very, very faint astringent vibe from this. Wet-> Slightly...woodsy? I'm guessing that's the copal coming out. The vanilla flower has decided to make an appearance as well. The musk is still present, but not overly so. That stringent vibe is backing off as well. Still more sugar cane than honey though, and just a whiff of beeswax. A very light scent. After a while-> A creamy, smokey, golden glowing honeyed vanilla. A very, very lovely scent. Light, warm and intimate. I love it. I'll have to test it again to see if it's something that I would wear often though. After an even longer while-> This has pretty good staying power. Still soft and subtle, but it's taken on a bit of a plastic twinge... I'll have to see what happens during the re-test.

Please please work! I would love to be able to slather myself in chocolatey goodness. imp-> Pure rich cocoa powder. Not quite melted chocolate, it just has that powdered scent to it. wet-> hmmm....the chocolate almost disappears on. Very, very light and subtle. I barely get a whiff of anything, even with my nose almost pressed up to my wrist, and I fairly slathered this on. after a while-> Pudding mix! That's what this reminds me of, chocolate pudding mix. It does keep that yummy chocolate flavor, but it's so very very faint and delicate my skin fairly eats it right up! It seems like this is one that I'd have to bathe in. I'll probably continue searching for a strong chocolatey scent. Maybe this would be stronger in a locket...

Honestly I hope the amber is drowned out and that the strawberry is prominent. imp-> A dark and fizzy strawberry. It's like someone made a dark cherry and strawberry soda. wet-> Oh wow, I agree, this is way similar to Midnight Kiss but with no cocoa and more strawberry. Red musk and a shiny bit of heliotrope which is becoming more obvious. after a while-> Not a big morpher here. A lighter, brighter Midnight Kiss minus the cocoa and with a little bit of florals and strawberry. So I guess maybe a close cousin of Midnight Kiss. Quite nice and sweet and very girlie. I will probably hold on to the imp, but not sure if I'll snag a bottle.

Initial thoughts-> There's no strict deal breaking notes in this, but you never know. I'm particularly excited to see how the plum flowers and cherry blossom notes play out. I'm not usually a big fan of tea scents, but it seems like there's enough in this to keep the tea from taking over. Imp-> Spoke too soon. The tea and I think the sake notes are prevalent here. The florals are but a faint hint in the background. wet-> Goes very lemony the moment it hits my skin. I retried this over a few days and always on a different patch of skin and that's what I got every time at first. No hint of my plum flowers like I was hoping. As it dries though the lemony-scent which now that I think about it could possibly be the tea or something? after a while-> The tart lemon scent has died down, and some fruity notes are starting to come through. It's a very light and faint scent. Slightly fruity and slightly powdery to my nose. Very pretty and delicate.

Bottle-> A bright, dandelion and clover scent. A grassy scent. Wet-> Smells rather like a guy's soap to me. Not soapy, but that kind of scent. Slightly woodsy and unmistakably masculine. The balsam fir is obviously present. After a while-> The dandelion has made a slight comeback, and it's again a grassy scent. Unfortunately this fades crazy fast on me, and within a few hours I'm left with nothing left. I'd have to slather this like crazy to get it to last all day.

A maddeningly festive blend of warm, buttery rum, cocoa, coconut, vanilla and a jolt of peppermint. It’s a sweet, decadent, slightly silly scent, reminiscent of rum-laced holiday cookies. Bottle-> Coconut and peppermint. Astringent and chilly. Wet-> Suntan lotion...still a smidge of peppermint though. Maybe the suntan lotion scent will fade as it dries. After a while-> Antiseptic coconut lotion...*sniffle*

Initial thoughts-> I should love this. All these notes are made of ginormous win for me. I'm hoping this will wind up being a cousin to my beloved October. I will be seriously disappointed if this doesn't work out for me. bottle-> Wine and autumn leaves...I love it! Wet-> The wine is still there a bit. I'm not getting any bonfire or dry leaves, but there is definitely something feral and slightly musky about this. After a while-> LOVE! It's gorgeous and soft, and slightly musky in a way that works for me. All the notes blend so well together to create a scent that loves me as much as I love it! Also has very good staying power.
-
Initial thoughts-> I'm looking forward to trying this. I have no idea what to expect from this, no clue at all! It should be interesting though. bottle-> I can definitely get the cocoa base! Everything else is a big, well blended jumble. A rather spicy well blended jumble. I can't pick out any other particlar notes. wet-> It's a slightly fruity/herbal/spicy blend with a tiny touch of cocoa. The herbal scent seems to be getting stronger the more it dries. after a while-> a warm spicy fruity scent. Very pretty, but unfortunately it's nothing fantastical on me.
-
Initial thoughts-> Possibly a watery jasmine? I usually amp jasmine, but hopefully the other notes will temper it a bit. imp-> Wet. It smells like water, but not the usual floraly aquatic that I pick up. That's probably the salt water. It smells a little masculine. Wet-> Almond! But only for a few seconds. I get a wet, green note, which I'm guessing is the kelp. It still smells like ocean though, with a bit of jasmine in the background. After a while-> Dang it! Jasmine, you're supposed to work with the other notes, not dominate them! This turns out a lot more floral scented that I imagined, probably because the jasmine beat everything else down.
-
Imp-> Very, very nice and extremely familiar, but I can't for the life of me put a name with what I'm getting. Almost like a leafy vegetable... Wet-> Cucumber! That's something I'm getting! It seems like it's losing it's sweetness every second it's on my skin. After a while-> It's a cool, fresh, vegetable and fruit salad. That's what I get. Very interesting indeed!
-
Maybe this will be the violet scent that Bruised Violet Compound wasn't for me. Imp-> The sandalwood and lavender moss are the prevalent notes that I pick up here. No violet or mint though.. Wet-> This seems to be faintly darker than B.V.C. to my nose. The violet is there now though, as is the lilac, and the sandalwood has calmed down a whole lot. Still no mint that I'm able to pick out though. After a while-> The lavender moss has made quite a comeback to my nose, and the violet has faded greatly. Overall it's a very faint, faint scent that I'm getting from this.

Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues
FallDaze replied to IronMollyBlack's topic in Discontinued Scents
Initial thoughts-> When I read the description of this, it just jumped out at me and yelled "Try me! You will love me!" Hopefully it wasn't lying. Imp-> fresh and green with a bit of lime tart. I love this so much! It's a vibrant sparkling green color. Wet-> The herbs are making a big appearance and the musk is revealing itself slowly. I'm still getting a lime color association, but where it was a neon toxic green before, now it's a more baby lime green. I'm also getting a dry, serpent like feeling from this as well. After a while-> That bright sparking scent never quite comes back, and it remains a pale musky green scent. I prefer it as it was straight out of the imp. I'll definitely be keeping my imp, but probably won't be getting a bottle until I have a locket of some sort. -
Initial thoughts-> Yummy fruit! I'm hoping the gin and tonic will stay relatively subdued. Imp-> Tangerine! Not as acidic as an actual tangerine, which is a good thing. Also a faint whiff of passion fruit. Wet-> Very, very tropical. The boozy notes are coming out, but very faintly. After a while-> This reminds me of a tropical scented shampoo I used to use. Not that the scent is soapy, it just reminds me of the scent of that shampoo. It goes rather off for some reason though. Another one that would go fantastically in a locket.
-
imp-> I can pick out a hint of musk and what I think is the sarsaparilla... This isn't as warm as I was expecting. It's like a slow smoldering burn as opposed to a raging flame. wet-> Slightly tangy, I'm getting something that reminds me of...lemon pledge? Wha...??? after a while-> Unfortunately that lemon pledge scent sticks with me. I'm still pondering what could have translated this to lemon pledge in my brain

I'm really excited for this one! I hope this isn't too sugary sweet though. imp-> This smells like a fruity hard candy and I loves it! Sweet, but not so sweet that it makes my teeth ache. wet-> Still a fruity candy! I can pick out the pomegranate for sure. It's starting to develop a bit of a sour/tangy bite to it. Not bad though. after a while-> It's like a sour fruit tart candy. It's rather off putting on my skin though. This would work fabulously in a locket though is my guess
-
initial thoughts -> I'm figuring this for a light woodsy scent. I hope it's not too heavy or dark. imp-> I'mnots ure what it is, but there is a tart, rather musky top note. I catch a whiff of something sweeter underneath though. wet-> The tart top note is still in complete control. I'm not sure if it's just the musk or one of the other notes combining with the musk, but boo! Reminds me of something faintly medicinal. after a while -> exactly the same so far. this one is not much of a morpher at all. pass on this one.
-
initial thoughts -> I REALLY want this to work! Every other scent I've tried like this has lost the battle with my skin chemistry. Hopefully Beaver'versary will be the one to break this pattern! imp-> Delicious cheesecake with a whiff of baking spices! Pure and simple. wet-> Cheesecake and frosting! So good! Please please please scent deities, let it stay like this. after a while -> no...NO! It's like the sweet deliciousity of my yummy cake has gone stale and hard right before my eyes! Why, Beaver'versary, why do you hate me so?
-
initial thoughts -> I'm not sure what to expect from the Chinese musk here. I'm hoping I'll amp the metal and honeysuckle notes as those are my favorites that are listed. Out of the Anniversary's, this is the one I was looking forward too most. imp-> I smell a metal note similar to that in Phoenix Steamworks. This is absolutely gorgeous! I can pick up a bit of the honeysuckle too! Oh I hope this works on me! wet-> The metal is still there, but the florals are starting to take over. Definitely keeps that metallic tang. Not a sweet blend by any means. On the verge of going soapy, but not quite there yet. after a while-> this is reminiscent of a softer Phoenix Steamworks, with a few more florals. LOVE!

I don't think I've tried anything witht he Lab's banana note. I'm quite interested to give this one a try. imp-> Exactly like it sounds. A light hint of banana surrounded by a heaping dose of wet soil. It's a sharp, wet, grassy kind of soil. There's something a little sinister about this to me... wet-> The sharp, wet soil note has died and now it's banana vs. regular dirt for the status of...TOP NOTE! It smells like someone picked up a dirty banana. after a while-> The banana note has died down. It's still there, but very very faint. It's mostly dirt. I still find this one rather disconcerting. It keeps the whole dirty banana scent for as long as it lasts on me. A very interesting blend. I probably won't be getting a bottle, but damn am I glad I got to try this one!

This blend sounds interesting blend. I'm expecting it to be rather bold. imp -> I'm getting a swirl of light green florals and chocolates as well as fresh grapes, which I'm going to assume is the wine note. wet -> The chocolate and that fruity/floral scent have faded. The honey is quickly taking over. It seems that the balsam is also starting to make an appearance. The florals are still lightly present, but not overly so. after a while -> It says with a honey/herbal tone. A lot different from what I was expceting. It's much softer and sweeter.
