Sharp and bitter. Wow, what a dark scent. Fire and ashes, but with a strange pure clean scent to it? Too dark for me, and I love incense...

Light, fresh, floral. I really like this one. Light and sweet floral. A freshness that comes from the mint. Very nice.

Sweet lovely incense. Mmm, this is beautiful. A light and lovely incense scent!

Red Lantern is a more coconutty, fruitier, Black Pearl to my nose.

Vice smells the most like Sonic Death Monkey to me. I just showered with Sonic death Monkey, used some Heavenly Bodies Buttercream, slathered with Sympathy for the Skin. Now, adding some Vice. So edible smelling! Is ther any BPAL that smells like Blue Sky BBS... I took a bath with it last night and I was in smellie heaven. The closest I can think of is Samhain, anything closer I am overlooking? -
A tribute to the opium den cum bawdyhouses of Shanghai in the 1930’s. Golden amber, blonde tobacco, Sudanese black coconut, rich caramel, black currant, white opium and delphinium laced with a sensual blend of Asian spice. Sticky sweet caramel hits my nose right away. Then the fruity, but earthy note of currant. A bit of sweet tobacco, and as it dries down the coconut and the amber make an appearance. No crazy powder note from the amber to ruin it. It just keeps smelling better and better. Fantastic blend!

Lovely. Well, not quite the word I'm thinking of... But, it is a delightful blend. So earthy and sweet. The musk is fantastic. And the booze is This and Red Lantern are going to by vying for top spot in my top ten list me thinks...

First Sniff... mmm, warm chocolatey yumminess. Second sniff... yes, it smells like warm melted milk chocolate. This is the PMS blend. I don't feel the need to kill everyone around me when I wear it.

Lovely. Heady musk, a rich patchouli, and a slight floral. There is a hint of sweetness to this blend, a hint od spice, I think it is the myrrh.
-
Lovely dark musk over amber. Then the curse of amber hits, and it becomes a powdery musk.
-
Dusty dry sandalwood, over a green herbal mixture. It is lovely, and has a hint of dry floral going through it. Nice, but not quite me...

A dirty version of Fae. The patchouli is beautiful in this one. The peach is darker, and juicier than in Fae. This is the scent for a hot summer night, spent outside under the stars.

Gomorrah and Jungle smell wonderful together. And Beaver Moon and Snow Fairy. I also like Schnuggle with Somnus or Oneiroi. -
The Lowdown on Incense & Resin - The Best Recommendations

I love resin scents. And the more incensy the better. Some of my favorites in this category are... Aureus, Penitence, Cathedral, Nefertiti, Sloth, Sri Lanka, and Laudanum. You might also like Magus, Shadow, and Umbra. And another of my favorite resiny scents is Tintagel. I get a lot of dragon's blood, juniper, and leather from it. -
BPAL to represent each month, each season? Holidays, like Christmas?

January: Penitence February: Alice March: Tempest (I can't wear it, but it smells like damp wet spring!) April: Burial May: Dana O'Shee June: Fae July: Snow White August: Beaver Moon (it smells like cake, and it's my b-day month) September: Trick or Treat October: Samhain/Jack November: Snake Oil/Tintagel/Blood Moon December: Gingerbread Poppet/Tintagel -
The 2005 is quite different to me from the 2004 blend. The 2004 blend is more smoky resins with a floral background. 2005 is more floral. A lot of rose, and until rose oil ages a bit it gets very sharp and acrid on my skin. But the resins are wonderful in the background, and the dry down of this blend is lovely. I am holding on to this one, I want to see how the rose ages.

I almost passed on Beaver Moon. Sweet scent have a tendency to go plastic on me. But, cheescake?? I had to try it. Love it. It is sweet cupcakes, graham cracker crust, and fluffy vanilla frosting. Yummy.

The Nine-Headed nemesis of the Nutcracker Prince. Dust, wood and feral musk with a fang-sharp undertone. Out of the bottle this went straight to my swap lists. But after reading the reviews, I had to dab a bit on to test. I am so glad that I did. Dry, dusty wood. A lovely light muskiness. And it has claws, a sharp, almost medicinal, note. Maybe a mint? I don't know, but it is coming off the swap list for now. I need to retest, and see how it wears, this may be a keeper.

I loved last years Hearth. It was yummy. This years version starts out beautifully, but the pine amps up on me taking over all the lovely sweet chestnut. After a while the pine does settle down a bit, but there are too many blends I love now to go through a rough patch of wearing time.

I didn't get this at Samhain. I knew it wouldn't work on me... Ha, was I ever wrong. This is gorgeous. Buttery, creamy, and sweet. It is like Devil's Night without the musk and booze. A slight hint of something spicy, and a sweetness that makes my teeth ache just like candy corn does. Yummy, so off I went to get a back up bottle ordered!

I loved this one at first. Sweet, tobacco, and just a hint of wood shavings. But the dreaded linen note came out, just as it did in White Rabbit, and spoiled it by giving me a headache. I hate having wonky sinuses sometimes.

I knew this wouldn't work, but I had to sniff it... And I was right, the florals came out and would not be subdued! The label on the phoenix bottles are wonderful though. Off to a happier home it will go...

Vanilla and mint. Emphasis on vanilla for my skin. Some blends the vanilla works, some it goes plasticky. Bye-bye Lick it. I had high hopes for you...

Mmm, Cathedral, only better. Warm, rich, resiny. Smells like church service when I was younger. The clear cold winter night, walking up to midnight mass with my Mom. Smelling the incense burning. Beautiful.

In the bottle this smells a lot like Blood Moon. On, it is very different. No mellowing warm sweetness. Sharper, the cassia is really strong on me. I have found another note that hates my skin. And I thought for sure it would be a winner.
