    Egg Nog

I love eggnog so I had great hopes for this one, sadly my skin took the vanilla note and amped it up. In the bottle, mmm eggnog . For a few seconds I smell what this could be and it is beautiful, then... vanilla, sticky and cloying. Some vanilla notes my skin loves, some it hates. Stupid skin! Off to be swapped, hopefully to be loved by its new owner as much as I wanted to love it!

    Midwinter's Eve

In the bottle fruity, tart, and sugary. It smells like brandied fruit. Wearing it, I still get the brandied fruit, but it is light and fresh. The plums are ripe and juicy. It has a wonderful sweet white sugar scent to to it that really softens the fruity smell. There is a fresh floral smell hidden underneath. It peaks out just enough to keep this from smelling like a fruity holiday punch bowl. It makes me want to lick my arm and make all kinds of yummy, fruity things to eat and drink. ETA: This is my husbands new favorite BPAL, for himself. He wears it to work (which he hates) so he can sniff it and cheer himself.

    All Saints'

Mmmm, incense. I love the incense smells. Frankinsence, myrrh, and florals. On first applying it is warm and sweet, but after a short soapy stage, it settles down into a deep smokey floral. It is dark and mysterious, I love it. This scent made me want to try it out in an oil burner. (bought one to try this ) It scents the house beautifully, the different aspects come out more. You can smell the smoke, the florals, the incense.

    Ice Queen

I wasn't going to get this one, then decided at the last minute to make an order for it. I am finding I do not do well with aquatics. They smell wonderful to me, but after wearing them for a short while I get a headache. Stupid, stupid head! Initially I loved this, it is icy, green, with musk. Breathing it in, I can feel the crystals of ice. It smells beautiful. Then it starts to dry down to a musky aquatic, with pine... and my head starts to ache. Happily it is finding a new home, where I hope it will be loved.

    Skadi

Wet, I get the pine, with a subtle berry fragrance. As it dries the berry comes out more, and I get a creamy feel, very soft and pretty. It smells like the holidays, good things to eat and drink, icy-cold snow, and evergreen branches. Hubby, however does not like the evergreen note in it, it gives him a headache. I had two bottles, one has gone off to a new home, and the second may have to also.

    Gingerbread Poppet

I love Gingerbread poppet, I only wish it it lasted longer on me. On first applying I smell a wonderful bakery smell, mingling spices, and a sweet smell. It has a sweet, spicy smell, like real gingerbread. The soft squishy cake-like kind of gingerbread, that is best served with loads of whipped cream. It only lasts on my skin for a short time, 1/2 an hour or so, before the scent dissappears and I need to reapply. I love the smell, I am just going to have to slather this one, and try using it in lotion to see if I can get it to last longer. ETA: Now that my bottle of GP is 4 months old, it is so much richer and stronger. It is still light and I have to slather it on, but it lasts all day now. It also smells so much better, it smelled great to begin with, but now...

    Mistletoe

I wanted to love this one. I love pine smells, but this did not work for me. It smelled wonderful in the bottle, and when I first put it on, but within minutes it was not wonderful. It became very sharp and acrid, losing it's wonderful piney goodness. I tried it on my hubby and it smelled better on him, but he doesn't like pine, so off it went to be swapped, hopefully its new owner will love it.
  8. Cathedral and Penitence are both dark, resiny scents.

    Anne Bonny

Yes! This may be my ultimate favorite scent. Of course, I have loved every frankincense scent I have tried so far. The patchouli and sandalwood combined with the frankincense is heavenly. Warm, dry, and spicy; exactly what I need on this cold and wet day... I have a few more frankincense scents to smell before deciding, but this one has moved to the top of my 5ml list...

    Hearth

I just received this today, and I promptly put it on dear hubby. Mmm, cherry, tobbaco, a hint of leather. I have been following him around, sniffing at him all day. It smells wonderful on him, and I suspect I may be "borrowing" it a bit myself. Another winner.

    Snow White

I ordered this because it was so popular, I actually thought I would have to swap it... I love it. No swapping this one. I smell an icy, musky, light sweet floral. It melds delightfully with my skin, I keep sniffing my arm to get the icy feeling in my nose. Beth is a genius when it comes to scents and this one really shows it.

    Burial

This is wonderful. I smell dirt, and flowers, rose? It is a wonderful rich loamy dirt smell, the way my garden smells in the spring when I am getting it ready for planting. The flowers remind me of roses, but there is a spicy, sweet smell too, maybe the juniper? I am still learning what the different notes are so I'm not sure. It is going on my need a big bottle list...

    Wolfsbane

At first I smell sharp green forest, pine and soil, then a smell of, I'm not sure... maybe juniper berries? It mellows down to a soft pine and rose scent, with a bit of spiciness. I do agree with the rice pudding smell description, but it isn't that it smells like it, as much as that the smell reminds me of rice pudding. Very beautiful scent.

    Penitence

This was one of the first non-foody scents I tried. I got it in a swap and fell in love immediately. The frankincense and myrrh combo is heavenly. It becomes so rich and incensy on, I almost smell ginger? It is becoming my favorite to wear at bedtime, it is so soothing, it sends me right to sleep.

    Samhain

Samhain is Autumn in a bottle to me, I can smell the leaves, the spices, pumpkin, and apple in the vial. Wearing it, I get spice at first, then the patchouli and apple come out to play. The damp leaves, on a raw wet fall afternoon, walking through the apple orchard are what I smell as this dries down. The mix of smells is beautiful and haunting, and exactly what I was hoping for.

    Cathedral

Ah, this was a freebie in my first order from the lab. Thank you lab! In the imp I smell cedar, and then the frankincense and myrrh. It morphs into a dry, woody, spicy scent on my skin. I have to sniff my wrists all day. It smells a bit like Penitence to me, only deeper and richer. Wonderful! I am going to need a bottle of this one.

How to make a paypal order.

I didn't get a auto-response either, now I'm curious to see if we should contact the lab. I figured it had something to do with the holiday and weekend. ETA I received the auto-response from my 11/26/04 order on 11/29/04

    Hemlock

This infamous herb has a long, complex history: it has been used in spells of death and destruction, was a principal component in traditional witches' flying ointments, and was the poison used to put the philosopher Socrates to death. We have created a dark, profound herbal blend to personify and honor this wicked little plant. This is my first review attempt... I had a hemlock tree behind my bedroom window, it was a beautiful split trunk tree, perfect for sitting in, reading a book, kind of tree. Last fall we had a terrible wind, rain, thunder and lightening storm. CRASH! My beloved Hemlock went down. For weeks after I would open my bedroom window, (even though I live in upstate NY and it was November), to catch the pure green piney smell. I miss that tree... This oil is that tree smell, it starts out very potent pine tree, but rapidly dries down to a soft mellow pine scent, with a lemony undertone to it. Hemlock trees smell like pine only better, just like this oil. I also have layered Three Witches over it, then it smells like Christmas time. Spicy and piney, decorating with the holiday greens while baking spice cookies...
