I'm not a perfume person. I'm allergic to most scents that I've tried--they give me spike-through-the-skull headaches and itchy eyes. When a friend introduced me to BPAL, I couldn't resist trying some scents based entirely on the wonderful descriptions and names. I'm attracted to strong characters (Medea, Lilith), so I would never have considered trying submissive little O.
But, O was included as a freebie and, since in the imp she was a mild, non-headachy scent, I decided to give her a try . . . .
And OOOOOOO! I love this.
In the bottle: It's deeply sweet but without sharpness--no alcohol or astringent flowery notes.
Wet on the skin: It's vanilla and honey but in a way that doesn't seem foody. The scent fades very quickly on my skin--almost disappears.
1/2 hour later: The scent is back, vanilla and honey and something darker and slightly salty that restrains the sweetness. That must be the amber?
1-5 hours: It stays subtle on my skin, golden and warm with restrained sweetness and something comfortingly earthy beneath it. It is soothing and attractive without being overtly sexy.
Hours and hours later, I can still smell O, though it now it is so subtle that people might think the warmed, sweet skin scent is my natural smell. I could wear O to work--as long as no one asks what it's called. Maybe I can tell them that "O" is short for Othello? Ophelia? Odysseus? . . . .
