SW 2012
Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? Yes. A lot—my recent favorite is Nutella s’mores. Mmmmm. Nutella. They used to have Hershey S’more candy bars that you could find around Halloween, but I haven’t been able to find them in a long time. Those were the best, though.
What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. Someone, about 5 years ago, so I’m not sure who, frottled me a Yvaine bottle. Considering I love Yvaine, I was pleased as punch. She also gave me a postcard which I decoupaged as the focal point on a box that I keep my office supplies in. I wish I could remember who, but it’s been a long time and the community’s full of great people, so things like that happen often.
Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example). Spices, yes, especially if it'll taste good on fish or chicken. Colorful kitchen gadgets, not so much. I’m not a huge cook.
Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? Yes yes yes. I love that kind of stuff. I wear a L (except perhaps at Old Navy, where I sometimes wear a M in their pajama pants).
What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? Honestly, as long as it doesn’t have bacon, any kind. I love chocolate. It’s an issue. I just don’t get the bacon/chocolate combination. Or really any sweet/savory combination.
I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? I live near a Whole Foods and Trader Joes, but I don’t know what a Penzeys is. I love Trader Joes Lacey cookies.
Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? As long as they looked half decent and edible, I think I’d happily eat them.
I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! I don’t tend to do Walmart, but I’d easily spend it in Target. Nail polish (something in a nice fall color), candles (anything sweet and foody and fall like), lip and cheek stains, and lip balm.
What kind of cuisines do you like? (I mentioned this in my ?aire but curious what my witch may like)And, what are your favorite restaurants? I’m a huge fan of Italian, Greek, and American food. I’m not a fan of anything Asian (Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, the whole entire continent—I don’t like any food from there—yes, I know that’s odd). Favorite restaurants: Chilis, IHOP, Mellow Mushroom, Substation II (though I think that’s just a SC thing).
I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? I like maple syrup. Can you send me free healthcare? That would be nice. :/
what are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? My true fandoms? Star Wars (original trilogy only), Sherlock, Fullmetal Alchemist, Avatar the Last Airbender (the cartoon only—I apparently need so many qualifications). Other things I enjoy? Labyrinth and Lord of the Rings. I like sleeping in geeky tees, but I can’t wear them to work, so I don’t tend to buy them for myself unless they’re really cheap.
Do you have an eReader and if so which one? Yes! A kindle fire, which I mostly use to download apps for reinforcers for my clients. But I do have several books on there.
Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? Honestly, I like anything that smells good. I prefer foody scents (caramel, cupcakes, cookies, etc) and what I consider “warm” scents (leather, honey, outdoor scents, amber). I’ve consistently burned Bath and Body Works’ Salted Caramel and Marshmallow Firesite my favorite) this last week.
Marzipan? I don’t know. I’ve never tried it. I’d try it if it was sent to me.
Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin “paper” towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? Sure. It would cut down on me buying papertowels often.
Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? I’m not really a drinker.
If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? I’ve never had either, but those both sound amazing.
If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? I have several knitted necklaces on my etsy wishlist that I’m dying to figure out how to make. And I love any type of socks/slippers.
Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? Nope. It’s just me.
Last year, my wonderful witch Alethia adopted a bat for me from batworld.org, a bat rescue and sanctuary. Bat's World Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? Aww, bats. I like bats.
How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box? That would be cool. Kind of like a minivacation where you get tons of souvenirs without the actual vacation part.
Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nacho witch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? I promise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. Maple syrup, sure. But I don’t like rice. I feel like a bad southerner for saying this, but I don’t really eat rice.
I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that are supposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic red sauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? No thanks.
Is there a GC scent that's been on your list for ages but keeps falling off the bottom of your order because of the LEs? The Rose, Bow and Crown of Conquest, and Black Hellebore Honey.
Stuffed things: yea or nay? They’ll just go to my clients (I work with children who have autism), but sure.
mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? Yes! That's the kind of cooking I like!
Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? I don’t really drink alcohol. Nothing against it and I’ll drink it in a social situation; it’s just not my thing.
Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? Making my own candles or lip balm. My sister does it, but I haven’t tried it yet. Or hammering/stamping leather and metals for jewelry.
Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? I’m discovering that I’m super picky about teas, so I don’t think so.
Stuff From Retro Dry Goods? Nope. I feel like I should love it, but I can’t really find anything.
Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? Nah. Plain Hershey’s or Hugs or nothing.
What does your kitchen look like? Colors/style? I have a kitchen/dining room combo that has a bird motif in darkish colors. I have several peacocks and different types of framed feathers on my wall. Colors are that kind of dark chartreuse/spiced olive jcrew color and brown.
Put your iPod/MP3 player/what-have-you on random and list the first 10 songs it plays!
Tattooine by Jeremy Messerman
A Day in the Life by the Beatles
Better by Regina Spektor
Aggie Fights from the Paranormal soundtrack
Outsider by the Daylights
Baba O’Reilly by the Who
Unworthy by Ani Difranco
The Awakening by Lucinda Williams
Not a Robot by Andrew Bird
Throne Room by John Williams
What's one random thing you really like and one random thing you really dislike?
LIKE: waking up to –but not being woken up by—birds singing. Makes me feel like a friggin Disney princess. The smell of gas. My clients being super sweet.
DISLIKE: shops that misspell things on purpose or add numbers where there should be letters (Krafty Korner, Rooms 2 Go, etc.) Ugh. Spell it right, people.
Are there any herbs that you haven't been able to lay hands on that I could send you? There's an herbal shop I really like here in NYC called Flower Power that has quite a wide selection. I’m not much of a cook, so nothing I can think of.
If there are no "witchy" shops near you, is there anything I can pick up for you from Enchantments? No thanks.
Hey Witchee! I want to send you a delivery. It could be cupcakes from a local bakery, it could be a singing hugging bear-a-gram, it could be a bouquet of flowers. But it will be something that you need to be there to receive.
a) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? *waggles eyebrows*
B..) Is the address in your questionnaire the best place to reach you for said deliveries?
c) If the delivery requires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with that information being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously?
Special deliveries? Sure, as long as it comes in the mornings. I’m at my house most mornings. If it’s an afternoon delivery, it wouldn’t work so well—I work out of people’s houses, so I’m at a different place each day. Cupcakes and flowers and other fun things would be appreciated. No thanks to anything that requires me to be touched by a stranger in a costume or sung to, though.
What are some things you are OK with receiving gently used or homemade, and some things you absolutely do not want if they are gently used or homemade? I’m pretty good with anything that’s gently used (except cosmetics/bath stuff) or homemade.
And now a new question: I live near a Mast General Store (mastgeneralstore.com). It has lots of vintage-y toys, southern foods (jams, jellies, spices) and vintage candy. Is there anything I can get for you? Eh, I asked it and, since there’s only about 5 in the country, the odds of my witch living near one is slim, so I’m not going to answer this. If you want to know it, let me know!
Do you have any Fall or Halloween traditions? Not really, but I do turn my ipod to Halloween music and watch horror movies all night long on Halloween.
Ninjas or Pirates? Ninjas. But honestly I don’t absolutely love either.
I have an extra room spray and 2 extra bath oils (one Cephalopod, one Exhibit Hall Fatigue) from Dragon*Con - would anybody like a decant? Either sounds good.
Witchee, would you like it if I made you a "mix tape" of songs that I think you might like? And if so, would you prefer mp3 or CD format? Yes! I love mix CDs. I don’t have a preference.
I know it is totally the wrong season (for most of us), but do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you like to grow? I live in an apartment, so I don’t really have a space to garden. I kind of wish I did, but saving for the down payment on a house just isn’t working for me.
I'm about to be near a Lush store next week, is there anything you might like from there? Honestly, it’ll probably be quicker to list what I don’t want. I love everything from Lush. I particularly love their lip balms and Butterballs.
Songs that you keep meaning to buy but never get round to it? None that I can think of right now.
Movies that you love but forgot to put in your questionaire? None that I can think of right now.
Any favorite Bath & Body Works scents/products? I love their Marshmallow Fireside and Salted Caramel candles. I also like their Vanilla Sandalwood wallflowers. I also like their lip glosses.
Haus of Gloi is offering custom perfumes - would you like one? What would your ideal blend be? Sounds cool, but I have some sensitivities to perfumes, so I tend to just stick to BPAL—it’s the only company that I haven’t had some reaction to.
