Hi, Witch! I've moved on to a part II, since there are increasing reports of cutoffs. I'm not sure i'm being verbose enough to get cutoff, but just to be on the safe side. Because, if it got erased, I would have to use my brain again, and lately, that hasn't been going too well for me.

 

I would also like to echo what everyone is saying about the wishlists being just that. Please don't feel, in any way, that you have to get anything from any of the links I've put up. They are mostly there for the shiny, as a note to self, or a reminder to get things for others(the 5lb. gummie I just put on Amazon, for example, might become a Christmas present for my sister ).

Hmm, go to Japan? I guess that's more of a lack of funding, and you are old now kind of thing(I could probably have gotten a job teaching English abroad right out of grad school, but was told the invitation to post grad was a once in a lifetime opportunity, as so went there. Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting?

Nope. Perhaps I will towards November, before the Weenies come down, but I will make sure to let you know, if it happens in-round.

So, I've basically decided that I'm going to order any Weenies I plan to just before the November 13th cutoff. Right now, I am leaning towards the Vampire Bride, at least one of the Apples, something from an Evening in Hades-- I kind of want to get complete sets of both of these series, but not only is that unreasonable, it's also a ridiculous amount of perfume! -- and possibly one from the Pickman Gallery; Changeling perhaps.

But I'm limiting myself to a maximum of five. I will have to read reviews very carefully. But then again, I may only buy two bottles. I'm very indecisive on these things. *sigh* If I end up not buying any, that's fine, too.

And, if you wanted me to not buy any, just let me know, and I will put them completely from my mind. But *please* don't feel you need to get me anything else after the glory of imps you just sent me. So amazing. I'm still trying to decide what to wear first!(Except Makhanitis, of course. Best scent ever, and I get to sleep in that )

Umm... In the Mouth of Madness? Or Resident Evil:Apocalypse, or maybe Silent Hill. But I don't really consider the first two horror. In my head, RE is an action movie, And ItMoM is some kind of comment on life. Silent Hill could be seen as a mystery... The Haunting(1963) has one of the creepiest movie endings ever. So, I don't know...

 

If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day.

Face lotion that is super-moisturizing without being heavy, organic, cruelty free, and has SPF, a good night time lotion/creme without SPF, body lotion(ditto to face) lip balm, mascara, loose eyeshadow, brushes, boar bristle brush or a comb, contact lens fluid. for shower, a good sls-free soap/shower gel, volumizing-moisturizing-protecting shampoo/conditioner of SLS freeness. Toothepaste(preferrably magic toothepaste that will undo the damage done by my former dentist-- and safely whitening, too). Jasmine green/white tea, snacks, water. I think that covers the stuff I use daily. I didn't put brands, because that would narrow down your creativity, should you want to do this. So long as it is natural(no petro products) and sls free, I'd probably love anything.

Yea! I think I own all the books though, and my lovely Witch from last round got me a book of Jane Austen advice, that I am partway through. It's really cute.

I like quotes, but I have no specific one or themes that is springing to mind at the moment...

I though of a phrase "mono ni aware". It's a Japanese concept that encapsulates the transience of things, and the sense of wistfulness that comes along with that experience-- which must eventually end(and it sounds nicer than what I just wrote, right?).

I do. Victorian and Regency. Perhaps a little 17th century... you know, I like fabric, leafy designs, dresses, so you are probably good with anything pretty that isn't too overly blingful would be awesome.

 

If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc?

I like pretty pictures, the storylines, attractive characters(they are like fairytale characters, really), and the nostalgia. As a small child, I watched a lot of anime without knowing it. Princess Knight FTW.

What would I want? Really powerful magical abilities, or just plain ability to heal people of anything.

Sweet, sour, and then a sight lead to salt over spicy. I'm trying to think of bitter things that I like/dislike, and kind of failing, so bitter is okay in small amounts, I guess.

Not really. I have bought trees() on Farmville, and a white dragon(really, would you be able to resist if someone offered you a dragon for a dollar?) and I spent money to free the baby donkey from the mud in Frontierville, before I learned you didn't have to know people in order to have them as neighbors-- because I couldn't stand to see it crying. Like I said, "special". Other than that, I can't remember any instance of buying game things. I don't play WoW, or LoL... I just have a weakness for trees and animals. Please don't feel you have to buy me game stuff!

I am enjoying the day. I dozed outside yesterday at twilight with my kitties, and that was a great end to Summer. I may eat an apple, right now. They came from local orchards in the mountains behind us. Mm, apple.

My favorite coffee blend is Pumpkin Spice Latte, followed by Mint Mocha. Yes, I realize that was not being asked. But it illustrates my level of coffee drinking, which is very low. I have, however, had four Pumpkin Spice Lattes since they came out this fall. But I had them at B&N, because the cafe staff at ours is incredibly awesome.

Cheese. But since pizza is now making me unwell(probably the sauce)X.x, I'll go for a second favorite that is white sauce, spinach artichoke, and cheese.

I don't think I really have any. The styles I tend to admire tend to be on lovely, slender people--which is decidely not my shape. I'm much more merwoman than sylph. At least I come with my own flotation devices, right?

Professionally, I lean towards low-frill clean lines, with a few accessories.

Personally, anything from jeans and a t-shirt with flipflops to stilettos and some kind of funky sweater and mini skirt over leggings. I try not to overdo layers, though, since I'd look like a marshmallow.

I am really failing on finding images of someone who dresses like I do...

It's equal parts self conscious coordination and dress up(with fairy wings). Bohemian is kind of close, maybe, but not with so many patterns.

I'm always craving black licorice(with licorice root, not anise), but there is a place that sells a few kinds on the other end of the valley. Hmm, black sesame mochi? But no need to go out of your way search for stuff.

You just don't even want to know. Trust me on this. I am the Captain of the Elite Procrastination Force(EPF for short), with a side of convenient amnesia when something needs to get done. My psyche just says 'no', and I magically don't remember.

A short sampling: clean up my bedroom, go through my boxes from just after grad school, remember to bring the industrial size trash bag full of donations to Goodwill with me when I go to town, study any number of foreign languages--some of which I once knew...and the list goes on, and on.

My recent ritual has been realizing my eyes are not going to hold themselves open much longer, and then going to bed. Other than that, not really. I don't wear scent to bed on a regular basis. If I really need deep sleep, I will put on some Absinthe. In fact, I may do this tonight. Freaky dreams, Ho! Not that they aren't usually pretty entertaining-- just with absinthe, they grow deeper and darker.

I...I bought the Maneki neko Thundercats one. I'm sorry! I found it with only eight minutes to go. I was actually checking to see if there was possibly something Firefly related for my own Witchee. I would turn mine into a tote bag, and wear yours. Yessss... I honestly have not bought anything else. I live about an hour and a half-two hours from Los Angeles, yet I rarely go there. I know there are awesome things to see. I just don't go. I have been wanting to go to the Arboretum again for...many years. And now, it is once again October.

 

What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours?

My purse love is on the extremes. On one end, I prefer the ginormous carry-all bag of DOOMB! I like fabric(because a washable bag is always a plus), over the shoulder, whimsical plant prints, and/or fun colors. On the other end of the spectrum, I love the bags that are little more than a wallet and have a wrist strap, so you don't have to worry about remembering they exist.

My current bag is this one. It's not exactly washable, but it is made from recycled plastic bottles, which I thought was kind of cool-- and I love the print.

Not really? It's not that they are bad, or anything. They just aren't the ones I go out and buy. Funny thing. I just downloaded my first ITunes song last week. This was because they were offering one from Tori Amos's Night of Hunters for free. It took a good half hour to set everything up and then the download was really slow. I was not pleased.

There are many, many songs I would like to own that I have not downloaded yet, from anywhere. There may be a few on my Amazon list. But I can't think of anything I must.have.now.

 

Is there a rare book you’ve always wanted?

Always? I'm not sure. In the last ten years? The Carmina Gadelica by Alexander Carmichael. It's not *a* book, but rather, five, and I mostly want them in an attempt to rewrite my thesis to a point where I feel it doesn't suck. However, I got the reprint of the one that I would most need, and I haven't really looked at it, so I probably don't need them. You know, aside from the fact that they cost somewhere in the high triple digits. Yeah, no. I don need no spensive books.

Just a quick note: I am answering all the questions for the sake of answering them. I'm trying to list something from each question of "what looks good" merely in case that was something you wanted to get.

If it wasn't, don't worry about it! Seriously, I don't need all the stuff. I just have no idea who you are with your lovely secret stalker self, and I would feel awful, if you had asked a question, hoping I would answer because you had a Plan. So I am answering EVERYTHING. Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like?

I love licorice, from actual licorice root. I like everything from the sweet to the salty, to the straight up ground licorice root(or, you know, whole licorice root that has been dried-- but a little of that goes a loooong way. It becomes a bit bitter). My favorite licorice is the kind that is shaped like little bee hives, but honestly, I don't think I have ever met a licorice that I didn't like at least a little. I've never had licorice that made me make a fish mouth, though...

 

Mac using witchees, what computers do you use? What peripherals/accessories do you have and what would you LIKE to have? What do you use your computer for?

As I said somewhere before, I am pretty much the anti-Mac. The cost is prohibitive. If I had an iPhone, though, I would love that little telefoto lens someone linked to in the SW thread. Also, Scrivener-- because that discounted copy I earned by working my butt off in NaNo last year? It still hasn't been released for PC.

 

Do you like listening to audiobooks? Would you like to receive one, and if you would, what sort of audiobook would you like--or is there a particular audiobook you've been meaning to get?

I don't really listen to audiobooks. No real reason, I just haven't-- Unless you want to include the luister sprookjes(listening fairytales) my parents got for me as a kid. Those were cool.

I guess if you wanted to get me audiobooks, I wouldn't be averse to them?

Little, round loofah scrubbies? I'd also love hairthings, like ribbon bands or clips. I think those are fairly easily DIY. Really anything you'd like to make would be gratefully received. Making things is awesome.

 

Do you own a DSLR camera? Are you interested in a minky camera strap like these? What about anything from Photojojo?

I own a digital Olympus sp800uz. I don't have a strap for it, so a strap would be awesome, or any other accessories. My sister had a film camera somewhere that I would use-- if I knew where it was. I like the tonality on film black and white far better than digital-- which for some reason doesn't ever capture the..crispness? of film black and white.

But I'm only a hobbyist, so you don't really need to worry about getting me camera things.

 

Is anybody else into film photography? Interested in receiving film, supplies, etc from Lomography?

I might be, if I could find my sister's camera. But, it's probably a bit expensive of a hobby to go on a what-if. Still, if you'd like to send stuff, I'd be happy to receive it.

 

Are you musically inclined? Do you play an instrument or sing? If so, what?

I *can* sing. I don't really do it very often anymore(other than at random moments, or karaoke with my best friend-- neither of which are particularly about sounding good or technical execution). I've sung everything from Disney to Opera.

I also own a gorgeous folk harp that, someday, I am going to get at least minimal proficiency on.

The best thing I ever ate...:

I have no idea. there are many delicious things I have eaten. I like food. Off the top of my head food loves:

kibbeling at an open markt, dark chocolate pear ganache cake, kroket, friet, deep fried mars bar(yes, I'm sounding really healthy, I know ), fruit fresh from whatever plant it grows on(blackberries, grapes, apples, I ate a fig today--so delicious), hazelnut gelatto, Love Sushi signature handroll, toffee pudding... I could go on, and I'm sure I'm missing tons.

I love licorice. I've never had licorice that pulled my face into a fish shape, and I have had some seriously salty licorice. This is my favorite licorice. I also love dubbelzout, kokindjes, katjes, Potter's Linaea-- you know just about any licorice they make in the Netherlands. Trader Joe's now has an all sorts bag, and that was pretty darn yummy, too.
