From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try?

Before seeing notes, Halloween: Las Vegas was the one I was most excited for. (I'm absolutely in love with the city.) After seeing the notes, I think I'm leaning more towards Sonnet D'Automne!

 

Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands?

Not too into nail polish, though maybe I should be! I don't own any, and I've never used any. I'm still cursed with the terrible habit of biting my nails, and I'll need to break this before even thinking about nail polish!

 

Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite?

My favorite line from a book is straight out of Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis: "An image of Julian in fifth grade, kicking a soccer ball across a green field." Out of context, meaningless! In context, soul-crushing. My favorite line of a song is a bit trickier, because I'm basically fond of everything written in my favorite song, which is Keep the Faith by Bon Jovi.

 

Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw...

I don't use candles much, except during black-outs. In those cases, I've used sort of fruity candles and quite liked them under those dark, depressing (no lights, fifty billion pages of a term paper to write) conditions.

 

Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors?

Sure! I don't know much about knitting and don't own much of anything that's been knitted, but hand-crafted goodies are always pleasant to receive. I'm not sure what I would like, but I do quite like things that are black-and-white themed!

 

Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics?

Absolutely! Especially since I should be staying off the sweets. Nothing specific, really. I'm always excited to try new things.

 

What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying?

At the moment, probably Miskatonic University and Poisoned Apple. I like both, but I haven't gotten bottles of either.

What are you going to be for Halloween?

I might be the Unabomber (which I'm sure sounds very strange). By which I mean, Phil Laak! It's a fantastically easy costume, and he's a fantastically fun poker player. If I do decide to be semi-not-lazy, I might dig up my old Devil-May-Cry-Dante costume. If I'm properly not lazy, I might have to come up with a brand new costume for...I wouldn't really know who!

 

If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? (If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above.)

I'm not really sure what oil painting jewelry is, and I'm not sure if I can answer this question because I don't really wear jewelry at all. Assuming this is just asking what I would consider a significant or pretty image, wings! I love little things etched with wings on them as a design.

 

How do you feel about nick-knacks?

Sure! They're nifty.

 

What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you?

Christmas, birthdays, all the traditionally important ones. My family isn't very big on them, but I'm always trying to make them festive in our household!

 

Do you like going to the movies?

Not really, actually! For a few titles that you can only fully enjoy in theaters, sure, but for the most part, I enjoy watching movies at home on my couch.

 

What are your favorite restaurants?

For fast food, definitely In-n-Out. For special occasions at proper restaurants, I typically go for the Elephant Bar! (I'm not sure if it's just the location near home or everywhere, but in my experience, the servers are the Elephant Bar are just the nicest people!)

 

Do you play any video games?

I used to, and I do miss them terribly. I'm trying to find more time to play, and I definitely will at some point! My favorites are (one per genre I enjoy) Neverwinter Nights, Unreal Tournament 2004, Devil May Cry, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I only really play on the computer, and don't even own a console except for one very, very neglected PS2. (I also play Pokemon on my also-pretty-neglected DS, but...who doesn't?)

 

Do you like any anime?

Not really. I think I'll always be head over heels in love with the Godchild series, but aside from that, I'm not very into anime at all these days. Well, I also absolutely love Tekkonkinkret, but I'm not sure if that counts?

 

Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for?

Nope! I don't have any of these things, and unfortunately, my budget isn't looking like it'll allow for any of these things in the near future.

 

How much do you like jewelry? Like, if you were to get a shit ton of it during the round, how excited would you be?

I don't wear jewelry at all, and aside from a black ring, I'm really not looking for any.

 

How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants?

I would absolutely love that! I'm moving out on my own this year, and I'll need to learn how to cook. Any recipes would be very, very, very welcome!

 

Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above?

I have plenty of ammo boxes for imps (though I'm sure soon enough I'll realize I'm running out of space again, somehow), but I don't really have box that works too well with bottles. I do have a case, but it's far too large and my bottles will always slide around. I'm definitely on the lookout for something to put those 5mls in!

 

Muppets: yea or nay?

N...ay, I think I'd have to say. Aside from Avenue Q, the medium has never really managed to appeal to me.

 

Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite?

Unfortunately not, I think I'd have to say. We were never a newspaper-getting family, and I never really got to read the comics. (Garfield Minus Garfield, though? Genius.)

 

Favorite Mythological Creature?

I like the idea of unicorns, though really only when reading the unicorn-filled parts of The Once and Future King. (I faintly recall them being somewhat gore-ridden bits so, uh, I don't know what this says about my relationship with unicorns!)

 

Do you like hair things such as barrettes, headbands, or flowers?

I like bandanas. I recently found out I have no idea how to wear a bandana, but...I like bandanas!

 

Expanding on the hair question - does anyone like those flower clips for the hair that are big right now?

I really, really, really do not like them. As a lifeguard, I've had to fish dozens and dozens of them out of our pool. Nightmares, I have them!

 

Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents?

I've never burned incense, and I don't think I plan on it.

 

-Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you?

Not a fan, actually! I never finished reading the book series and couldn't get through all the movies, either. I remember it being pretty good fun, but it just didn't keep my interest.

 

If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from?

Bookshops! Everything seems to be going out of business, though, and I'm not too sure how useful those will be.

 

Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/god-story that you're drawn to?

Definitely by miles and miles, the story of Icarus. I do quite like myths and whatnot, but the story of Icarus is the only one that truly sticks out in my mind as an absolute favorite.

 

If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture!

I do RP with one very special lady, but I don't think I'll be needing art for any of my characters because said special lady is the best artist I could ask for.

 

If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality!

I think there's way too many to list! I'm trying to think of what I'd like to see the most, and there's a million little ideas cluttering up my mind. I think, at the moment, I'd have to say Beethoven, conducting. (As much as I claim to hate classical music from my piano lesson days, I think I'd absolutely love to see this with my own eyes, hear it with my own ears.)

 

When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter?

One thing is, actually, giving things to people! Probably why I'm so excited for Switch Witch, h-uh? It also always helps to just bundle myself up in my comforter and blankets in bed and just sit still for a while.

 

What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters?

I've never been very into comics, though I like the thought of them. I don't really know where to start or anything, so I don't think I'll ever really get into them. I wouldn't mind reading some, though it's not really a priority to dive headfirst into the realm of comics.

 

Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do?

I play the piano, as mentioned above. (Well, played. Not so much anymore, seeing as I can't take a piano with me when I move!) I used to play the flute as well, but I wasn't very good because I realized belatedly that I'm apparently a bit tone deaf. I have an acoustic guitar that I'm trying to learn how to play, but it hasn't really been going anywhere lately. (The tone deaf thing doesn't really help, I'm sure!) The guitar is definitely something I'd love to learn how to play! That, and the harmonica, which was admittedly and impulse buy and I don't know what to do with it but I very much would like to be able to play it.

 

Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in?

I don't garden, and I don't think I'll have room to garden at the condo I'm moving into. I'd absolutely love to get into it at some point, because my mother has always kept a fairly huge garden in our backyard. I suspect space won't allow for it until I'm out on my own and well away from school, though!

 

Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary?

At home, we've never decorated much before except for a few pumpkins to let kids know we had candy to dispense. I'm not too sure if we'll be allowed to decorate much at the condo I'm moving into, but if we are, I'm absolutely looking forward to it! I'm not too sure how we'll decorate, but with lots and lots of things is probably a safe guess.

 

Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you?

I wear these customized dog tags every day that are writing-related, and incredibly important to me. Aside from that, I don't think I have any other special symbols! I do have a ton of (mostly useless) little trinkets lying around, though, because I love collecting things that are just...well, shiny.

 

Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc?

I don't know much about them, except that I raised some money for one of the above in elementary school. I think it's a cool concept for school fundraisers, for sure, but I'm not sure how I'd get involved there these days!

 

What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with?

I'm unintentionally somewhat obsessed with thinking about Bret Easton Ellis, but it's a bit difficult to follow that twitter and not think about some things. (Example: For the love of all the little green apples, Bret, why can't you resist the urge to be a dick?) On the musicians note, I'm thoroughly and proudly enamored with Bon Jovi. I've seen them in concert once from quite a difference, and it was an experience.

 

Are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update?

I don't believe so, unfortunately. I don't know anything about it, actually, but now I've got a mental note in my little head to check this out!

 

If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences with regards to said treat?

I don't have a pet at the moment, but I am thinking very seriously about adopting a rescue kitty at some point in the next year. I wouldn't be too sure what they would enjoy, of course, but preemptive kitty accessories wouldn't be untoward!

 

What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays?

This might be a bit tough, because I'm still quite new to BPAL and haven't even scratched the surface of all the scents that are out there to try! Off the top of my head, I know I'd love to try Anaconda, Glowing Vulva, and Bah!

 

Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls?

With the move to a new condo, I'll have all the wall space in the world! (Well, all the wall space in a relatively small condo, at least.) I've never been allowed to hang posters or art from the walls at home, so this is definitely something I would look forward to. As for what print I'd like, I would absolutely love a print of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album cover. (Does this count as art, even?) Oddly specific, I know, but it's the first thing that comes to mind!

 

If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase?

I'm not really into beauty or makeup stuff at all, actually. I wouldn't be adverse to finding out about some of these things, but for now I don't know anything at all about them and probably wouldn't be the best person to gift them to!

 

Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types?

I love both coffee and tea! However, I can't actually drink either right now due to a braces treatment that's going to be lasting me another half a year or so.

 

Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc)

I've been lusting after all of Astronautalis's discography for a while now. I'd love to have them in CD form. (Record form would be lovely, but that's unnecessarily pricey!)

 

Are you going away for any part of this round?

Not really, for the most part! I'll be moving on the 15th of September, and it'll take me a few days to get settled in, but aside from that, I'm sticking around for the whole round!

 

Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch?

I would absolutely love a mix-CD from my Witch! I'm always eager to discover new music.

 

If your witch were going somewhere on a vacation during the round, would you want a little souvenir?

Absolutely! I haven't had the chance to travel much myself, and little souvenirs are typically awesome ways of giving myself a bit of a kick in the pants to get to planning on trips (even if they will be possible only years down the line).

 

Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"?

I'm quite the lazy bum, but I do love walking outside. Walking to school, or just walking with no destination in mind, and listening to music along the way!

Ravelry again! I still have no idea what this is, but I'll definitely be looking it up!

 

Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies?

I'm going to be lacking a desk for a while when I move, but I absolutely love cute office supplies. (Especially erasers, but those will just never get used. Too freaking cute!)

 

Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones?

Avenue Q! Aside from that, nothing much. I haven't gotten a chance to see many musicals or plays at all.

 

I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.)

I absolutely do not mind lightly used goods at all! In fact, I'm always happy to receive used things, especially those that come with a little story of their own.

 

Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly?

I don't! I was only recently exposed to the lovely site of Etsy, actually, and don't know much about it.

 

Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box?

I would probably be pretty happy to have it, but that may just be because I love postcards! I'll be about an hour away from Disneyland (maybe two?) and am definitely planning a trip with a friend at some point in the next year, so a postcard could be a great preview!

 

What are your favorite types of Halloween candy?

Lollipops and gum, typically. However, this year, I'm held back by this braces treatment and won't really be able to enjoy either of these things.

 

Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands.

I've been using Dove bar soap lately, and I quite like it! I haven't tried other brands, so there's no saying what my favorite is, but I'm definitely leaning towards bar soap for showers.

 

How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel?

White! I realize white chocolate is not technically chocolate, but I absolutely love the stuff.

 

Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like?

I wouldn't mind beads, but I'm not sure what I would really use them for. I'm not shy to hoard random things until my home gets too clustered or I find a use for them, though! (It's probably becoming quickly apparently that I'm quite a pack-rat when it comes to little trinkets and things.)

 

Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?

I love caramels! I've never had sea salted caramels, though I certainly wouldn't be adverse to trying that out.

Woah, definitely! That sounds very cool and I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of it at all. As boring as it may sound each time I say it, I'm quite fond of black-and-white themed things.

Yes! I'm a firm believer in the stones make great pets philosophy. I probably shouldn't hoard too many random trinkets with the limited space I'll have in the new condo, but I wouldn't be adverse to a few pretty stones!

 

Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format?

Unfortunately, no. I don't actually have anything to read e-books on, and I do prefer having the hard copy in my hands when I read. I'm building a veritable mini-library back here!

 

If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now?

No kids in this household just yet!

Those all look really fantastic, but I'm unfortunately not a purse-carrying lady. I almost wish I was-- some of these look seriously gorgeous!

I think I mentioned this at some point earlier on, and I'm not sure if it counts, but I love designs with wings! No significant reason behind it, really. They just look quite nice!

 

Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of?

Ooh, absolutely! I have a few glasses etched with meaningful words in my possession, and I do have to admit that I very rarely drink out of them. (They're just so precious!) I'm also unable to drink coffee and tea for the next year or so, but I'm definitely going to resume as soon as I'm able and having a mug would be absolutely lovely! (Plus, well, water is still an option!)

 

If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc?

I personally don't have very refined tastes regarding tea. I do love it, and will be drinking it once I can again, but I don't have a favorite type. I typically use loose tea leaves, though, which relatives are always bringing over from China when they come to visit. Tea bags are great for while I'm on the run, but I do use them less often!

 

How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir?

Pretty! With the new move, my possessions are quickly dwindling and kitchen towels and other little things like this are probably things that I'll need to remember to get for the house anyway!

 

How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion?

I think my last compulsory-formal-dress occasion was my high school graduation, and I guess that says a lot about my party-going habits! (They don't exist.)

 

Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc)

I frustrate myself to no end when I settle down to work at Sudoku, but I definitely enjoy it in the beginning and in the end. There are moments of feeling victorious that are absolutely worth the hair-pulling stage in the middle!

How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind?

I'm of that tender little age called under twenty-one, but I'm gaining a roommate very soon who will be of a legal drinking age in the States. Not to imply that she's a raging alcoholic, but if something of this sort did find its way to me, I'm sure new roommate lady would be able to find some good enjoyment in it! (Little bottles of booze like from hotel mini-bars, by the way? Adorable.)

 

What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.)

I'll be staying in the SoCal area, where I know it gets a bit hot sometimes. (Beth tweeted something about 107 degrees at some point? Ouch!) Fudge and brownies are absolutely lovely, of course, but taking that into consideration, it might not be the best option until things cool down a bit!

 

Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it?

I've never had mochi, but I've heard of it and it sounds like something that would be nice to try!

 

Anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek?

I've browsed around Think Geek at some point in the past, but I don't really remember anything from it and wouldn't want anything in particular. I do remember that there were some things that seemed pretty nifty, though!

 

What looks interesting in the BPTP update?

Candied Pumpkin sounds pretty delicious, actually, but I'm not sure how I feel about a pumpkin note. I don't actually like pumpkin as a food for the most part, except for in pumpkin pie, but I wouldn't mind trying out a pumpkin note.

 

Does anyone like kimchi?

Love it! Absolutely love the stuff to bits and pieces.

 

Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)?

I'm not sure what either of these things are, so anything lovely from there would probably be wasted on me!

 

You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy?

Woah, tough question! As a relative newbie, there are probably a whole slew of things I would want to try. I know I'd be interested in bottles of Miskatonic University and Poisoned Apple, and possibly Snake Oil (though I tried it and it wasn't really my thing, but I wouldn't mind letting it sit around a bit so that I could try the aged version everyone seems to love). I'd probably pick up a bottle of Halloween: Las Vegas, just for my love of the city, as well as bottles of the Ta-Ta, Sprinklecake, and Sonnet D'Automne from the latest Weenies update. Probably also a bottle of Crowley. I haven't gotten to try it yet, but I'm definitely tempted. I'd probably also pick up a few GC imps like the White Rider, Gnome, Ehecatl, Hollywood Babylon, No. 93 Engine, and Lyonesse. I'd probably also pick up a dozen wand caps along with that order. (I'm just meantally tallying all this up in my mind and ouch. Quite a big number!)

 

Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update?

Again, another thing I haven't heard of before! I think I'll be going through this questions and checking out everything I'm not familiar with, but as I have no idea what this is at the moment, anything from this lovely place would probably be a bit wasted on me!

 

Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes?

I know this doesn't typically count as a sport (though there are teams, professionals, and even a world series), but poker is my thing! I follow it obsessively would be an understatement. My favorite player by far is Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier, and a few close favorites following him are Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri (I'm not sure how active he is as a pro these days), Tom Dwan, and a lot of these other young guns. I could probably go on and on about a bunch of other poker pros, and we'd be here for days. In general, I'm a fan of Team PokerStars Pro, moreso now than ever with the whole debacle of the way FullTilt responded to the online poker shutdown that happened a while ago. Aaand I'll stop rambling about poker now, because what are the chances a fellow poker nerd will be floating around as a witch!

 

How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like?

I quite like having some notepads! I have way too many notebooks at the moment (went overboard shopping for my first year of university last year, and now I have enough to tide me over for, probably, the next four years) and I've never been very good at keeping journals. I do use little notepads to scribble things down and leave things all over the place (post-its, too!) so those would be very much loved and used!

 

Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee?

I don't have particularly strong feelings about confetti or glitter, but I might prefer not having it these days. The condo I'm moving into is almost entirely carpeted, and I imagine it'd be a pain to get out if I did end up spilling a bit somewhere. Though, it certainly wouldn't make a package any worse! I don't think I'd appreciate it enough to make it worth the extra input to just decorate packages, though, so it's likely not worth the extra bit of color!

 

Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want?

I've not received any of these offerings before, and it's so nice of her to offer!

 

How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in?

I absolutely love them, but don't think I need any more of them. Many, many trips to Circus Circus in both Reno and Vegas have stocked me up for life.

 

how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels?

Pretty interested! I store my bottles in a trunk in a way where I'm unable to see their labels, so I do need to put the round stickers on the caps in order to figure out what's what. Personalized little stickers would be awesome!

 

When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most?

Sleeping in, cuddling up with my favorite comforter, and talking to my best friend until the cows come home. I'm a simple creature.

 

What constitutes ultimate luxury to you?

Playing in the main event in the World Series of Poker, probably, but I'll never be that person with ten grand to gamble away. I don't particularly want to be, either, but it does seem like a very luxurious (and glamorous) event to me. Poker in general, really! What do you really NOT want?

Certain books. Pulp fiction, YA, non-fiction, poetry, and most classics (partly because I have too many already, partly because I just don't read them much these days). I do love receiving books, but my tastes are ridiculously specific these days and the ones I've listed here would honestly go to waste on me, and as much as I love books, I absolutely hate seeing them go to waste! The types listed aren't all things I absolutely detest, but are mostly things I'll most likely never get around to reading. I probably also wouldn't want make-up or jewelry, as I don't think I would ever use either.

 

Interested in anything from Lush?

I've heard of Lush before and took a quick look at their products, and I don't think I'm particularly interested in any of them. In general, I'm not too interestd in beauty/body care prodcuts as whatnot. BPAL is just the lone exception, really!

 

Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc?

I do, sort of. Or, I intend to. My LJ sits mostly unused these days, and will probably stay that way. I'm going to start using a blog on blogspot eventually, once I figure out how to go about this without losing interest in a few weeks, and I definitely wouldn't mind a header or layout for that!

 

Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark?

Absolutely! I use all sorts of strange little things as bookmarks, and never a proper bookmark, so a handmade one would fit right in!

 

Do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies (ingredients: semi-sweet chocolate chips, PB, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, chex cereal)? Would you want to get some from your witch / nacho witch?

That sounds pretty delicious, and I'd absolutely love to try some! (Or at least hunt down the recipe to keep for future use!)

 

How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also.

I've never used Groupon before, and I'll probably be too scatter-brained to every remember to actually use any of the deals sent to me, but I wouldn't mind it if some were sent over! (I've heard of some pretty cool stuff on Groupon! My friend told me once that there was poker training camp type thing with Joe Hachem, and a spectacular deal on it. Neither of us were in Melbourne, though, so...sad day!)

 

Food likes and dislikes?

Going off some of the things talked about in the proper switch witch thread, I'd probably want to mention that I'm not a fan of beets, brussel sprouts, goat cheese (though I don't think I've ever had goat cheese, so maybe I don't know), and black licorice. I do love red licorice, quite like mushrooms (cooked, for the most part), toffee, and asparagus. I don't think I've ever had marzipan before!

 

Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific?

I used to just eat home-cooked meals cooked by my parents, but now I'm officially living on my own and definitely need to learn how to cook. I'd be very interested in cookbooks, and kitchen utensils as well since we have none at the moment!

 

Do you like Star Wars? Original Trilogy? Prequels? Spin-offs? Favorite characters?

I watched Star Wars once (all six; four in one sitting, then the other two the next day) over spring break or something like that, and they were enjoyable, but I wouldn't say I'm too into them. They were fun, but I'm not in love with the series.

 

Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so, do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer.

I love, love, love beef jerkey! I very rarely have it because it isn't something my parents buy often, but it's great! I think I'd refer the thicker and softer types. I particularly like Jack Link's beef jerky. (That advertising they did on the World Series of Poker was super effective, I guess!)

 

Also, do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work?

I can't say I've ever received a racy ecard, and I can't really say I'd like it more than any other ecard. That said, I don't think it would scar me for life, either, so go right on ahead. (I'd particularly love racecar ecards, though.)

 

Doctor Who? Yay or nay?

Nay, I'd have to say. I've never seen any of this series at all and haven't managed to get into it.

 

Anyone love Buffy/Angel?

Neither! I never got into either of these series, either, and only caught a few episodes that I don't seem to remember at all when I was way younger.

 

How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires?

I love gummy bears! Full stop.

 

How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals?

That sounds so freaking amazing and I'm absolutely going to manipulate the question asker into making these for me in exchange for taking the trash out and driving her places.

 

Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney?

Either, both, whichever! I'm not a huge fan of gore, but I like my Halloweens cute sometimes and my Halloweens dark and thrilling sometimes. I'm easy on this!

 

Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings?

No piercings whatsoever, so unfortunately I won't be able to use any of this sort of jewelry!

 

Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now?

I don't actually have much of a DVD collection, but I'm starting to look into getting some box sets of shows I like. I don't have many of those, either, but there's always a place to start a collection, I guess! I'm saving up for Burn Notice, Six Feet Under, and Generation Kill. (Though, really, these things are all quite pricey!)

 

Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall?

I wish, and I might! I've only been to two concerts in my life, but my soon-to-be roommate has gotten me into all sorts of music and I'm looking forward to taking her to all sorts of concerts and shows. I'm not too sure what's going to be going through our area, but it's definitely something we're planning on. Well, so long as our budget allows for it!

 

How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever?

I've never had anything of the sort, actually, and I don't think I'd be able to stick to carrying it around for long. I'd be terribly afraid of losing it, and I might not be the best person to gift something like this to.

 

Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters?

Never managed to get into Star Trek, really. It's another one of those series that were way too long and winding for me to jump into, and I guess I never found enough interest there to make the effort to get into it!

I'd love something like that, sure! I'm not sure what I'd like, though, or if I'd actually get any use out of them. I'll definitely be decorating the new house, but I'm leaning more towards posters than anything framed.

 

Dear Witchees, are you interested in sample boxes such as The Little Black Box or Sweet Diva boxes?

I've never heard of either of these things, and I'll definitely look them up, but again these may be one of those things that'll just go to waste on me!

 

Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear?

I absolutely do wear t-shirts! I'm a huge fan of custom-made designs, too, especially ones with significant quotes on them. I wear an M, normally, but I'd actually love a huge freaking XXXXXXL (well, not that exact size because I wouldn't even know if t-shirts came in that size) shirt to wear when I sleep. I've never been particularly fond of proper pajamas, and typically sleep in a big t-shirt and shorts. A big, big, big t-shirt would be very welcome!

 

How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc...

I've never been a huge fan of eating pumpkin related things aside from pumpkin pie, which I think I mentioned at some point here or in my questionnaire. I'm not too sure how I feel about pumpkin scents, though! I haven't had the chance to try many pumpkin scents from BPAL, so I'm not sure how much I like it as a note in perfumes, soaps, and so on and so forth. I'd be interested in trying, though!

 

Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin?

I'd love that, actually! I'm a huge fan of little trinkets and things that I can't possibly get in the States, and I would be happy with pretty much anything that's completely new to me!

I don't think so, actually. They do look pretty adorable, but I typically wear socks that are pretty flimsy these days. (My silly little feet won't fit into some of my silly little shoes, otherwise!)

Gosh, how to even start answering this question! I don't know if these things really qualify as things I haven't gotten for myself, but packs of Bicycle playing cards and copies of Less Than Zero. Strange things to collect, because no one really ever needs more than one of either of those things, but I like having lots and lots around! I also have some basic house things (kitchen utensils and whatnot) on a list of things I need to buy for the new house, which I'm working on slowly but surely! I also really need to renew my subscription to GQ, but all of these things are on the No Rush, Whenever I Have Time and Money list. In short, I guess anything random would be good! My shopping list is pretty much all over the place.

 

How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you?

Never heard of these things, either, but holographic glitter sounds like it'd be pretty cool and shiny! I doubt I'd ever be able to put it to any use, though!

 

Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way?

I don't own any lip balm whatsoever, actually, and I really, really, really should! My lips are always dry and chapped and cracking and I absolutely need to start using lip balm. I'm quite curious about flavored one, and I'm very interested in trying some things out. Not sure where to even start, though!

 

Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick?

I'm not very artistic and I don't own any fountain pens, so probably not, but this does remind me of the fact that I really need some pens. Just simple, regular blue or black ink pens. I love Tul pens, but those are a bit on the expensive side and I wouldn't feel too comfortable receiving them, and RSVP pens. I'm also a huge fan of just simple BIC pens.

 

How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.)

I'm going to say no to this one because I'm not very artistic at all, but then I'm going to say yes, absolutely. My roommate-to-be is a fantastic artist, and I've been on the lookout for some copic markers for her for awhile. (I don't know anything about them, though, and don't even know where to start!)

 

How do you feel about Threadless t-shirts?

I've heard of these! I've never had one, and I'm not even too sure what they are, but I'e heard great things and I think I'd love to see what they're all about!

 

If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up?

This is just such a fun question. Okay, so! I'd probably pick up a can of Arizona green tea, the original kind with the honey and ginseng. (I hear they're going out of business? Sadness!) I'd also grab some band-aids because I never have any when I need them, and probably some pens or a college-rule spiral notebook. (I really don't need any more notebooks, but apparently my brain thinks I can never have enough!) I'd probably also grab two or three of those little cans of honey roasted almonds, because there's always a deal on those and my family members love them to death. And now I'm drawing a complete blank, so with whatever money I have left...probably some shaving stuff because I always seem to be running out of that, too!

 

Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature?

Absolutely! I can't say I've actually tried these pickled veggies before, but the farmer's market has always been a favorite place to shop for me.

 

Do you prefer color or white photographs? Nature or abstract?

Either! I do quite like black and white photographs, so that'll never go unappreciated, but things that are just brilliantly colored are, well, brilliant as well. I do quite like both nature and abstract images, so I'm pretty easy on photographs!

I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples!

The School of Athens by Raphael is by far my most favorite painting in the world. I can't pinpoint what I love about it, but I really do love it and have since I was itty bitty!

 

If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be?

Tough question! I had a phase when paintings were so fantastic and important to be, but I think I've fallen out of that. (Sad day! Paintings really are beautiful things!) Probably a painting of the final table of main event of the World Series of Poker, 2008, just before Peter Eastgate wins. (I am. Such. A poker nerd.)

 

Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup.

Probably not, since I don't particularly know much about makeup or use it at all, but I don't know what ecotools makeup brushes are, so I guess I can't give a definitive answer here! (Though, really, I'm starting to think my waffling is only making things hard. I certainly hope I haven't made plotting too difficult, Dear Witch!)

 

Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc?

Love Legos. I only ever owned a little pink box full of them as a kid that my mother picked up at a yard sale for me, and they were fantastic. I don't know if I'd be able to use any keychains, since my big ol' keychain is pretty cluttered up already, but I definitely wouldn't mind having some Legos around again!

 

Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get.

Somehow, this question seems even more difficult than the limitless spending one! I think I'd go with a bottle of Halloween: Las Vegas, a bottle of Sonnet d'Automne, and, uh, something silly like twenty wand caps to make up the difference. (Though I don't really need twenty wandcaps, so I'd probably get more like six if this were to be an actual order!)

 

Are there any characters that you love or identify with?

I'm not sure if there are any characters I identify with, but there are plenty I love. I've always said that my favorite character of basically all-time is Nicolas de Lenfent from the Vampire Chronicles (though, oh god, that seires, so fantastically bad), but this might actually be shifting. My favorite character from a book (Nicki excluded) is Clay from Less than Zero, and he's well on his way to overtaking that favorite character of all-time spot. My favorite character from a movie is Eddie from Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and my favorite character from a TV show probably has to be Michael Westen from Burn Notice. (I can have one of each, right? Right!)

 

If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty?

Not crafty at all, but when I do try (and sometimes I do because I just don't appear to learn my lesson, ever) I tend to try going at a piece of graph paper with a pen and ruler and making these weird prisms. Not exactly art, but kind of fun sometimes!

 

Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE?

I don't believe so! For the sake of my wallet, I'm probably going to stick with

BPAL for my perfume obsession and try not to branch out too much to find other loves, but I certainly wouldn't be adverse to it!

That sounds like a really sweet idea, but considering the possible physical distance between everyone, I'm thinking it's not very common! I certainly wouldn't mind, though a quick check to make sure I'm actually home would probably be cool. Sure! I've actually not had much exposure to Cthulhu and all things related to Cthulhu, but I promise I won't be horrified by anything Cthulhu-related.

I think I saw a Team Boba on the switch witch thread and missed it? Definitely sign me up for that! Bubble milk tea is amazing to me, but I do have it quite rarely. As for actual flavors of tea, I'm not too sure. I do drink tea, but I'm not particularly refined when it comes to tea. I know I'm quite fond of jasmine? Really, though! I'd absolutely love to try new things. If I can just go with types, my other favorite type of tea would probably be iced tea. I very rarely drink hot tea these days.

 

Name your 3 favorite scents for candles:

No idea! I've never burned any candles for the scent, or really burned any candles at all. Just based on what scents I like in general, I know I wouldn't like things that are overly floral or things that are very dark, like incense and whatnot.

 

Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off?

Go back to Vegas. This is probably always going to exist on this list, because every time I leave Vegas, I start wanting to go back. I don't particularly want to live there, but I just love spending time there. Specifically, I really wish I could go back to the Rio tournament room for the World Series of Poker again. (Which I'm sure I actually will do!)

I did plan to put in an order with my lovely international friend, but we ended up deciding against it (or at least most of the items on that list) because we were both pretty swamped with payments we needed to make for various changes we're making in our lives. We were going to pick up Halloween: Las Vegas, Sprinklecake, Pumpkin Princess, Sonnet d'Automne, and a bunch of wand caps. I think a bottle of Snake Oil, too, but we eventually decided against it because we'd both tried it and neither of us were overly impressed. I think if I were going to put in an order now, I'd probably toss Poisoned Apple on there. As for the trading post, I've been eyeballing some of the Claw Polishes. I still have the horrible habit of biting my nails, and I'm hoping having something nice and shiny sitting on my shelf that I can't use until I let them grow out will inspire me to stop doing this silly bad thing. (I'm particularly tempted by the Malediction color!)

 

Do you have any interest in rocks? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance!

Sure! I was a total geology nerd for a while in freshmen year of high school. (I go through a lot of random phases, apparently.) I don't know if I'll be able to put them to really excellent use, but I do have a little mantlepiece now that I can display stuff on!

 

If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences?

Out of these, I would probably prefer a scarf, though I really don't need one! I have tons, but I do actually wear them. Maybe something with a red-ish color and black-or-white color theme? No allergies here! Though, again, definitely am not lacking a scarf! (Except for some reason I'm still entertaining the thought of saving up for a Burberry scarf, why do I do these things.)

 

Speak to me of shower gels! What companies/scents do you recommend/prefer?

I've never actually used any special shower gels! I used something random by Olay for a while because we bought a few huge-big packages while it was on sale. I've been using that up until recently, actually, but started using bar soap when I was living in my dorm last year. I'm still on bar soap at the moment, but I do prefer shower gels and will need to find something to use. No real preferences, though! I'll definitely experiment.

I've finally managed to build up a teeny little etsy wishlist over yonder. Hopefully some ideas can come out of this, and I promise I'll keep working on it until it isn't teeny tiny!

 

How do you feel about terrariums?

Oh, gosh. Now that it's been mentioned, I think I'm very seriously considered one. It wasn't until recently that I realized that a turtle would make an adorable pet, and I think I'm definitely going to consider a terrarium in the future once I'm settled down!

 

What's your favorite horror movie?

Tough question! I haven't been into horror movies for a while, though I did have a phase with them a few years ago. (This ended when I sat down one afternoon to watch Final Destination and Final Destination 2. As soon as I finish, my father drives me down our big bad highway to pick my aunt and uncle up from the airport. That was the end of horror for me.) I do quite like these suspense-ridden movies, like Sunshine, where a crew on some sort of mission faces some sort of danger and dies of one by one. (Alien would probably be the better example, and as much as I love Alien, I have to confes to loving Sunshine more.) I don't know if those can really be considered horror movies, though. If they can, Sunshine would definitely be my favorite.

 

If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day.

I'm a horrible, horrible person when it comes to my skin, and there's not much that I use often or even nearly as much as I should. The only thing I use every day is toothpaste. Soaps and shower gels, too, of course, but I don't have a particular favorite brand or anything. On the food side, I eat Cheerios!

 

Jane Austen ... Yay or Nay?

Nay, I'd have to say. I don't do well with the classics, generally, and Jane Austen falls into this category of things that I really don't do well with.

 

I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind?

Quotes sound amazing! I'm not too sure about the hand painted bit of it, though. My favorite quotes are all a bit artificial in nature and would probably only look write in some sort of inhuman print. (Less than Zero isn't a very warm and fuzzy book, and when I think hand painted, I usually think there's some notion of human passion in there.) So I think I'd have to pass on the hand painted quotes, but I do have having quotes and whatnot sitting around!

 

Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you?

Sure, absolutely! Again, not too sure what use I would get out of these, but I definitely wouldn't mind having them around. Office supplies would be the ones that I'm worried about. Even if they were replicas, I would probably still be super precious about using them. (As in, I probably wouldn't.) Then I can imagine a relative visiting and not knowing this and using the thing as some sort of notepad and... aaah! Horror! (Why, yes, I do overreact about tiny hypothetical not-even-important situations.)

 

If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc?

The only manga series I do enjoy is Godchild, and I thoroughly love it. I do love the art style, even though I'm not particularly into gothic-style anything. It's just really gorgeous and the panels are cut in just the right ways and it's just good. I'm also deeply infatuated with the stories that are told. The writing's nothing to boast about, of course, since I'm only able to read the translation, but it isn't unpleasant prose when read. It's just pretty damn good overall, and when it really comes down to it, I'd have to say the story is what truly wins me over. This could've been in any medium and I probably would hav THANKS, BLOG.
