Questions my witch has asked!

 

So, first of all, on my questionnaire, I somehow forgot to note that I collect masks. BUT. There it is. I collect masks. They tend toward the elegant rather than the creepy or weird. Mostly I have ceramic, wooden, or metal masks, because those are the easiest to display and hold up the best. The only material I have found I absolutely dislike is feathers. Feathered masks look cool... for the first five years. After that, the feathers just kind of *ppfft!* when you touch the mask to rearrange or whatever, and that is sad.

 

From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try?

 

Let's see... I ordered bottles of La Calavera Catrina, Pumpkin Princess, The Nymphae Avernales, and The Golden Apple of the Sun. I ordered decants of Autumn Cider, Boo, The Autumnal, Ghosts in Love, Samhain, Sonnet de Automne, The Vampire Bride, Regina Erebi, Askalaphos, The Silver Apple of the Moon, The Changeling, An Incubus Leaving Two Sleeping Women, and Muse of the Night. I also definitely want bottles of The Green Apple of Venus and Nightmare, and maaaaybe Halloween: Las Vegas and Sprinklecake. But I'm waiting to see what the BPTP update does to my spending money before ordering. This is the first update that I've had enough spending money to cover getting pretty much everything I wanted, so I kind of went crazy.

 

From the BPTP update - The Orchards of Hell atmosphere spray, Samhain soap, Honey Pumpkin Stout soap (& possibly bath oil), Streuobstwiese soap, and FRUITBAT FRUITBATH! And, uh, Crypt King?

 

So much for me not being into soaps. They just sound so yummy!

 

Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands?

I don't have a favorite brand - I pretty much exclusively buy 3-free brands, and have found that Orly has good application, but I have tons from all different brands. I love bright colors - hot pinks, turquoises, greens, blues, purples, all sorts of colors! I like opaque cremes and jellies the best - I'm not into sheers unless they're jellies, and I don't really like much sparkle/shimmer usually (though I have a lot of nail polishes that have sparkles or shimmer, it's just not my favorite). I've really been digging the FingerPaints fall 2011 collection - beautiful dusty cremes! I want every color from it. I've never tried Nubar, Zoya, or Deborah Lippman (especially like the idea of Across the Universe) polishes, despite having heard good things about them.

 

Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw...

I'm not really into candles, though given my experience with Villainess, their candles sound maybe fun.

 

Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors?

Turquoise or purple sleep hat! My head is usually fine during the day, but in winter it gets SO COLD at night, so I sleep with a sleep hat on.

 

Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics?

Sure! Dried fruit with no sugar (or sugar substitute) added, jerky, probably other things.

 

What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying?

Dorian. :-/ My bottle is nearly empty, but because it's just NEARLY empty, I never end up ordering it! These aren't mortal terror, but more like "slight anxiety": I have never gotten bottles of Lady Macbeth or Ophelia, which I wear frequently enough so that I should have, and I have never even tried TKO. If the branded ones count, then also Door and Hunter.

Both! My laptop is a 15-inch MBP, and my desktop is a PC.

 

What is your favorite animal?

BUNNIES!!!!!! And cats. But right now I have a bunny and not a cat, so bunnies seem more awesome.

 

What are you going to be for Halloween?

A pirate! And on Halloween I am going to be at a costume wedding at Disneyworld, so that will be exciting.

 

If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be?

OMG I love the oil painting pendants! I would love a ship with sails on the ocean. I would also be pleased with a tree or something naturey like a landscape - kind of abstract and brightly colored. Or my bunny! The same preferences go for wall art.

 

How do you feel about nick-knacks?

I collect little cat figurines, as well as little spaceships (I am planning to eventually put them together in a mobile) and robots. I would not be opposed to little rayguns either! I used to have a wall display for my cats but then it broke, but I am sure eventually I will get another.

 

Do you like going to the movies?

Yes. If I don't see a movie within the first week that it's out, I'll probably forget and never end up seeing it. The theater closest to me is an AMC.

 

What are your favorite restaurants?

Two favorites are local to Dallas - Food from Galilee, and Bolsa. In terms of chains, I like Texas de Brazil and Ozonas.

 

Do you play any video games?

Sims, right now Sims 3 on my pc and Sims Medieval on my Mac.

 

Do you like any anime?

I love Hayao Miyazaki films. My fiance likes big robot animes, and right now he is showing me Full Metal Panic! which is really bizarre.

 

Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for?

Nope!

 

how much do you like jewelry? like, if you were to get a shit ton of it during the round, how excited would you be?

VERY EXCITED! I'm not too big into beaded stuff though, but conversely I LOVE that bead-woven stuff like this. There is some other stuff that is an exception, but generally if it mixes tons of colors and types of beads, I won't be interested. But remember I don't have pierced ears! (I should note here that Etsy is a fantastic place to find inexpensive yet super cute vintage clip earrings.)

 

How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants?

Yes!!! Although I don't eat sugar, I do love to bake cookies/cakes, and sometimes experiment with Stevia to see if I can produce something edible - as well just any tasty meals, especially tasty HEALTHY meals, are appreciated. I am a horrible cook though!

 

Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above?

I do love the Milling in Line boxes on Etsy, and have been considering getting one, but other than that, I have it covered adequately.

Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite?

Not really. My favorite webcomic is Dinosaur Comics.

Do you like hair things barrettes, headbands, flowers?

Yep! I usually get my headbands from Forever 21, the dollar bins at Target, and JCrew (when they're on sale). I have exactly two barrettes and I love them both - I love ornate barrettes rather than simple ones, so I don't run into what I like much at where I usually shop. No ribbon barrettes.

 

Expanding on the hair question - does anyone like those flower clips for the hair that are big right now??

No.

 

Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents?

No.

 

Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you?

Yes! Ravenclaw! With maybe a generous dash of Slytherin. I am always up for getting Ravenclaw goodies - I prefer the blue/silver color scheme of the movies to the blue/bronze one of the books. I've got a scarf in my house colors, but that's about it. Oh, and my engagement ring has a sapphire on it, which I realized when the last HP movie was released means I wear house colors every day. That was accidental.

Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to?

I like Athena and Artemis, and I am a fan of most myth cycles, with Arthurian legends probably being my favorite. I love that there are zillions of versions/interpretations/reinterpretations - there's such a rich base of stuff to draw from, and you can look at the same characters and events over and over again from different perspectives and in different situations. I think my love of that particular aspect of myth and legend is what drew me to fanfiction/fanart, because that sort of does the same thing for modern stories.

 

If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture!

I do not RP, but I would always love fanart for any fandom I'm in... right now I am craving some Han & Leia fanart, or something of ST:DS9 or Narnia or Wall-E. I would also ADORE artwork of my bunny or puppy (or both!) - I've got pictures of them in this post, and could always provide more. My fiance is obsessed with zombies and pirates, and it would be funny to have a picture of the two of us as zombie pirates. But really, if you want to draw something for me, I'll probably be happy with just about anything!

 

If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality!

SPACESHIPS!!!!! Or, actually, out of perverse interest, I would like to go back in time and see my fiance when he was younger, before I knew him.

 

When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter?

I like to get in a scorching hot bath with BPTP bath oil and read a book until the water goes cold. Then I go hug Gwen because she's soft and warm. If it's been a really, REALLY rough day, I will go cry on my fiance. If it is a day that feels like THE END OF THE WORLD, I will watch Star Wars: A New Hope.

 

What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters?

I am reading my way through Star Wars: Legacy. I have the first 8 books but none after that! I also have the first book thing of Buffy season 8, but none after that, and none of Angel season 6. Those are really the only ones I read.

 

Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do?

Um, no. I am SO not musically inclined that it is sad.

 

Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in?

I do not garden. My fiance does, but everything gets killed dead by Texas summers. If you know of any plants that are pretty or useful and would SURVIVE four months of uninterrupted 100F+ heat with no rain and watering just once or twice a week, I would gladly take recommendations.

 

Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary?

We already have way more Halloween decorations than we need!

 

Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you?

Ships, especially sailing ships and spaceships. They make me feel more focused and hopeful.

 

Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc?

Yes. Right now I prefer rabbit rescue organizations. Local to me there are the North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary and Wild Rescue, Inc.

 

What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with?

I don't know that I get obsessed with people so much anymore, but I'll give this question a go anyhow:

Actor: Felicia Day. Lots of people tell me she's very like me (or I'm very like her), I guess because we're both weird and awkward.

Director: Michael Bay lol I don't even really know any directors anymore.

Author: Branden Sanderson - I discovered his books earlier this year and they're really good, so I've been reading through them. I have the original Mistborn trilogy (a sequel is coming out soon!), Elantris, and Warbreaker. I have been trying to find his children's/YA series in a bookstore but with no luck.

Musician: Florence and the Machine - I wish they had like twenty albums out instead of just one! (Though I also have the B-Sides album from itunes.) I've also really been enjoying the Ellie Goulding album "Lights" recently. And, of course, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Basically I've been grooving to stuff like that recently. And Dizzee Rascal, because, well, Dizzee Rascal (which is TOTALLY a coherent justification!).

 

Are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update?

Maybe one or two of the candles, just to try.

 

If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat?

oh my gosh, yes. In my questionnaire I mentioned the fruitables treats and toys from bunnybytes.com for my rabbit - I prefer to order treats from sites recommended by the House Rabbit Society, because bunnies have sensitive tummies and a lot of the stuff sold in the pet stores has salt or sugar that is bad for them. She also loves playing with pinecones - if you happen to have a tree that makes them, send me some! The dog loves those heavy rope tugs, and she goes through them quickly.

 

What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays?

Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls?

I collect Star Wars OT art prints, and was planning on ordering this print by Scott Erwert from the Star Wars Shop, when the SWShop closed down! Now I don't know where I'll order it. I would take that one in any size at all. It is heartbreaking to me that I can't find where to order it. It matches my decorating scheme so perfectly. For others, I like cool arty prints like that for media series I like, and I am looking for some 17x10s. I also love Mucha, especially Summer (from the Seasons series, not the Four Seasons series), Poetry (from the Arts series), Rose (from the Flowers series), the entire Times of the Day series (but especially the evening), Ivy, the blonde Byzantine Head, and the White Star Moet & Chandon. Also, Klimt - especially Hygeia and Judith I.

 

I just found this Society6 site that offers prints and there are a ton of cool ones so I added my favorites to my amazon wishlist. I am going to go through and indicate in the comments which size is my preferred. I wouldn't really mind but it looks like some of them just might not look good at a small size or vice-versa.

 

If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase?

Makeup! Eyeshadow, blush, nail polish. My skin is very fair and cool, and my hair is a mousy brown. There are pictures of me on my profile here & on pinterest. I haven't bought any Mac stuff in like seven years, and I also have been wanting to try some of these Inglot eyeshadows.

 

I am also looking for a good medium-coverage foundation that doesn't make my face look makeuppy and photographs well, but I'm having a hard time finding one I like - I like the texture and coverage of Smashbox High Definition, but the palest one is too dark/yellow for me. It would be cool if it also counteracted redness - right now I'm doing that by mixing a drop of green concealer in my foundation (when I wear it, which is rarely). While I think buying me foundation would probably not work, if you have samples or know a lot about makeup and have recommendations, gimme gimme! Oh! And superpaleperson tinted moisturizer. I use the Laura Mercier one, but it's not quite pale enough and it does a very bad job of disguising redness, which I pretty much always have around my nose because my nose is constantly runny and thus gets constantly blown. Would love some recommendations or samples!

 

Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types?

I don't drink coffee, but I love tea! I would definitely be interested in trying different types. Last Christmas, my fiance got me a cast-iron teapot from Teavana and a bunch of teas, so I am now a tea ADDICT. One from Teavana that I've been wanting but have somehow never managed to pick up is Silver Needle. I tend to like green and herbal teas more than other kinds, but I do drink all sorts.

 

Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch?

Oh yes, I would love that.

 

Are you going away for any part of this round?

Yep, I'll be gone over Halloween.

 

Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"?

I don't really do much outside, except sometimes walk the dog with my fiance or take her to the dog park. My favorite form of exercise is pilates, but all pilates studios cost like ten trillion dollars a month, so I just do it at the gym... but of course the gym classes are only in the middle of the day, when I am busy with classes!

 

Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies?

Yes, and yes, but I think I have enough office supplies for at least another decade.

 

Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones?

Les Miserables is my favorite ever. I think I've seen it every time it's been in Dallas for the last 15 years. Which is not that many times, but still. I actually haven't seen a lot of the popular ones like Wicked or Rent, and would certainly be interested. I am pretty entertained by Jesus Christ Superstar. In terms of musicals on film, Singing in the Rain is one of my favorite movies EVER EVER, followed closely by The Sound of Music. West Side Story is up there as well (snapping, ballet-dancing men!) though it probably wouldn't even make the list of my top 100. I do, uh, also like musical children's films, such as all Disney ever, but especially Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty (which has just GORGEOUS artwork). Also, the Joss Whedon musicals (Buffy's "Once More With Feeling" and Doctor Horrible) are not to be discounted.

You can see here that Gwen is about as big as Rory's head. This is why they are not allowed contact with one another unless one is in a cage. Though Rory has so far shown no inclination of eating Gwen, just playing with her or accidentally stepping on her would be fatal.

 

I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific!

Not at all, as long as they're still in good shape! I'm looking for picture frames and pretty colored glass vases/decanters/pretties to decorate with (they don't need to be functional). I generally don't do thrifted clothing unless it's for a costume.

 

Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly?

Nope! I don't produce enough for it to be worthwhile, and I usually want to keep what I make. I would guess some of the shops of forumites might be SW friendly, but none I know of for sure.

 

Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box?

YES! Just to note, my favorite Disney media are Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Wall-E. We've got a Disney store in town but I am sure Disneyland has much wider stock. Belle and Mulan were totally my role models growing up. People may say stuff about how Disney trains girls to accept female stereotypes or whatever, but COME ON, Mulan dresses like a man and goes off to kick ass to save her father, how cool is that!??! And Belle is super-smart, and as a kid I loved that one of the main characters of a really popular movie read as much as I did. Sleeping Beauty has prettypretty art, and Wall-E his ROBOT LOVE IN SPACE. I also like Peter Pan! And The Little Mermaid! I just like Disney a lot, okay??

 

Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands.

Shower gel. I use Softsoap Ultra Rich Shea Butter Creme Moisturizing Body Wash. I'm allergic to a lot of things, and don't like stuff that smells too much, but I'm not allergic to that and it smells good but light. I used to use handmade soaps by the sinks in the bathrooms, but my fiance has a strong preference for Method Foaming Hand Soap, and I think it would be silly to have two soaps at every sink. But it makes me a little sad because handmade soaps are so pretty and good-smelling! The funny thing here is that he uses bar soap in the shower, but has an irrational preference for Dove Men+Care, rather than any of the really nice handmade soaps I've bought him. I dunno, maybe I should try to use soap in the shower... I have some BPTP samples people have frimped me, and they all smell divine!

 

tl;dr version: Shower gel. I love handmade bar soaps, but they probably won't get used in my house.

 

Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like?

Not really. I tend to tug on necklaces, so beads quickly get scattered to the four corners of the world.

 

Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like?

Sure! I light light fabrics, since in Texas it is rarely cold enough to wear something heavy. The scarves I use most are skinny long ones that I double up, tie, and use as headbands - currently I only have these in various shades of pink and purple. The scarves I use next-most are kind of voluminous drapey ones that I can double up and do infinity-style over a sweater or whatever. My favorite colors are turquoise/teal, silver, and lime green, and, idk, some sort of pretty abstract floral or geometric motif could be nice? I have no idea really, I don't know anything about handpainted scarves. Do what looks good!

 

This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes?

Yes! I make jewelry, so I love them, especially cabochons for being mounted on rings or necklaces, though I've started to learn wire-wrapping because I think it'll be a good addition to silversmithing, and so even ones that aren't cabochons will eventually get used.

 

Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share?

I LOVE PINTEREST!!!! I think my pinterest gives a pretty good overview of what sort of style I like in my home and with my clothes (though the clothes are more what I WISH I dressed like than what I actually dress like).

Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format?

Yes! Kindle format - my amazon email is the one provided in my questionnaire. For trade-paperback-size books, I have no preference as to whether they are in paper form or kindle form, but for hardcovers or things a zillion pages long, I prefer kindle form, because if the book is too big for my tiny hands to hold without hurting and too heavy to carry around, it probably won't be read. (Take note, writers of five-hundred-page tomes!) Obviously if the book has pictures I prefer a paper version.

 

If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them?

No kids, just pets.

No, felted isn't really my thing.

Greek sorts of patterns , art nouveau, art deco, some arts&crafts movement patterns.

 

Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of?

If you made it (with my name! I love cups with my name!) or if it's Star Wars or Star Trek, but otherwise no... our cabinets have no space in them!

 

If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc?

What is this compressed tea? I would try it! I have no preference as to packaging type - I just started drinking loose tea a year ago, and so far have only gotten them from Teavana. From there, the ones I most want are Silver Needle, Jasmine Oolong, Honeybush Vanilla, Tranquil Dream, Gyokuro Imperial, Precious White Peach, and Thousand Mountain Jasmine. The ones I HAVE from Teavana are Snow Geisha, Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls (my favorite), Peach Tranquility, and Raspberry Riot.

 

I like pretty much all kinds of teas. Teavana has some that claim to be coffee-like or chocolatey tasting, and I don't see the point of those. I don't drink my tea sweetened or with milk, so that may be something to consider. I tend to like light, delicate flavors. But, honestly, I've never met a tea I didn't like!

 

How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind?

No thanks. I don't drink much.

 

Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it?

Have no idea what it is.

 

Does anyone like kimchi?

OH MY GOD SO MANY WORDS I DON'T KNOW.

 

Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)?

I don't think so. I am pretty picky about what non-makeup/nailpolish beauty products I try/use, and they seem to have a lot of stuff that I would have no use for.

Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes.

There are none I follow obsessively, but my parents have season tickets for them + one to the Texas Rangers (baseball), and my fiance and I have season tickets to the Dallas Stars (hockey). I already have enough memorabilia for both teams though, UNLESS you could happen to find a Dallas Stars Ice Girl outfit. I have promised my fiance I will dress as one for Halloween one year.

 

How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like?

I am drowning in notebooks and stationery! Please no more!

 

Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee?

Neither.

Are these the cookbooks? I have an interest, if only because everyone else has them!

 

How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in?

I like them, but they need to either be small enough to fit on a shelf outside the dog's reach or big enough to scream "pillow" because she doesn't mess with pillows. I have been interested in getting a Squishable in Fox, Owl, or Raccoon. I also like bunnies and think this is darling.

 

how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did?

Not at all - all my bottles are already labeled.

 

What do you really NOT want?

I don't think I would like that. Or was that on LivingSocial? Whatever, the $10 for $20 on Amazon.com, that one was awesome.

Star Wars OT = FAVORITE MOVIES EVER OMG (with A New Hope being my absolute favorite, and ultimate comfort movie). Not so keen on the prequels. Don't hate them, just don't really like them either. I LOVE Leia & Han best of all, but pretty much love all the good guys (especially Chewbacca & the droids). My favorite ships are the Millennium Falcon and X-wings. I also like the expanded universe (post-ROTJ era) and the cartoons. I have seen the Star Wars Holiday Special, and would like it to never be mentioned in my presence again.

 

My favorite SW posters are the special edition US posters, with the ANH poster being my favorite EVER. I have it in size A BILLIONTY HUGE, so big that it took forever to find a frame to fit it in. I also have this cool poster. In the art print section I mentioned the rebel poster I have been DYING to get.

 

Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene)-

YAYYAYAYAYYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My faves are the fourth, fifth (celery = lol forever), tenth, and eleventh doctors. I have the fourth season (Donna!) on dvd (it's so expensive to buy them!). My fave companions are Donna, Amy & Rory, and of course Sarah Jane. And if River Song counts then of course her! I DISLIKE ROSE. I know this is an unpopular fandom opinion but I find her extraordinarily annoying. Wesley-Crusher levels of annoying. Also the Tardis. I actually just bought this ridiculous shirt from Threadless, because, well, how could I not?

 

I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package?

Anyone love Buffy/Angel?

YESSSSS! I own the box sets of both series, and love pretty much all the characters. Special faves are Giles, Wesley, Gunn, Anya, Cordelia, and FRED. It took me until the episode where Buffy's mom died to like Buffy, but now Buffy is one of my most favorite. But, um, when I watch the episodes, I tend to go, "I LOVE THIS CHARACTER SO MUCH FAVORITE EVER OMG!" every time anyone is on screen, so, you know. I am just full of love. Not so into the bad guys though, except Drusilla and Lilah Morgan. Also, I dislike Spike, and especially Spike/Buffy. I'm a Buffy/Angel fan. I know, I know. (Sekritly I ship Buffy/Giles LIKE BURNING, but, um, no one wants to hear that.)

Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney?

My creepy threshold in reading material like fairytales is high, but my creepy threshold in terms of anything visual or auditory is WAY LOW. So creepy books are okay, but anything else creepy will probably, well, creep me out. The zombie movies I enjoy tend to be more humorous than scary. And Buffy, Angel, the X-Files, and more recently Haven are like THE MOST TERRIFYING SHOWS EVER to me, so... yeah. I'm not a fan of Halloween-themed tchotchkes - I already have more than enough for a lifetime. Or ten lifetimes.

Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now?

Um, yes. In Plain Sight seasons 1-4, Star Trek DS9 season 2 (to complete my collection!), Star Trek TNG or Voyager or TOS ALL SEASONS NEEDED, Disney's Alice in Wonderland (cartoon, not Johnny Depp), Machete (this movie was so horrible, yet so amazingly entertaining), The Little Mermaid, IMAGINE ME & YOU (Lena Headey & Piper Perabo! Amazing!), and I am sure many others.

 

Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall?

I don't often see live music. It's so loud and there are so many sweaty people. I find it an immensely distressing experience.

YES! Other than Battlestar Galactica (2004), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is my favorite tv show. I also like Voyager, TNG, and TOS, but am not so keen on Enterprise. I also heart the new movie like burning. Favorite characters are EVERYONE ON DEEP SPACE NINE EVEN THE VILLAINS, but especially Kira, and then Dax, Sisko, Quark, Damar, Weyoun, Janeway, Picard, Worf, Data, Spock, Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, Sulu. Sigh! I also think the Defiant is a cute little ship, and LOVE the scene in First Contact where you see the teeny tiny Defiant sweep in front of the Enterprise to attack the Borg cube, and you're like, jesus christ, that ship is about one inch across! Because on DS9 I don't think you ever really get to understand just how little bitty the Defiant is.

 

Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear?

Yes I do! I wear a size small, or possibly size XS (if they make a size XS, I will fit in it). I prefer longer girly-fit t-shirts, love v-necks (though they don't have to be!), and do not like them to be black or white. Colors are fantastic! One shirt I've been digging recently is this from Threadless - recently I've been trying to move toward more abstract designs that can be work-appropriate with slacks and a blazer. This is foiled by the fact that I get REALLY EXCITED by nerdy designs. A shirt designed by my witch would be awesome! I have no Battlestar Galactica shirts at all and no cool, kind of abstract/arty Star Trek shirts. Also, bunnies.

 

How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc....

I dunno! I don't use much soap or candles, but if you think you've found something so awesome I have to try it, I will definitely do so!

 

Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin?

The Etsy shop? I'm not super into it, the little vintagey pictures with the cutout text seems more postcardish.

 

SOCK PREFERENCES?

I don't wear socks much, but wouldn't say no to either REALLY RIDICULOUSLY FUZZY socks or toe socks. Or one that is both. But by no means do I need a deluge of socks.

Cool! I prefer 3-free. Glitter and holographic glitter interest me, especially in teal or purple.

 

Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way?

I've got enough, though I am always open to more Yelpstick and I'd like to try this Jack Black lip balm people keep talking about.

 

Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork)

I love fountain pens, especially the ones that write super-smoothly. I used to have a very nice one from my grandfather, but someone stole my purse with that pen in it and I never recovered it. I love blue and teal ink.

Hmmm, these art supplies are not the art I do. I would always LOVE 18ga copper, brass, or (if you're feeling spendy!) silver or Argentium silver sheet from Rio Grande (or any other jewelry supply company, that's just the one I use). 16, 18, and 20 gauge wire in any of those metals would be awesome, as would half-round, low-dome, or decorated wires. Fancy bezel wire is awesome too, though I am set for life on plain silver bezel wire. Also, of course, pretty cabochons or faceted stones are always nice. Also, a steel stamping set! That would be so awesome.

 

-How do you feel about Threadless tshirts?

LOVE. I am pretty sure I've linked to at least three in this blog post (two that I've bought and one that I like), and I think they give a good idea of what I like. Basically, abstract all-over or fannish designs - especially in the longer girly tees or the boatneck girly tees.

omg yes. I love love LOVE amiguri of characters from my favorite tv shows or movies (basically Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, etc, all the billions of things I've listed everywhere) or bunnies or owls. Amiguri is the cutest, and I wish I knew how to make it, but I don't think I'd have the patience.

Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup.

LOVE ECOTOOLS. I need a powder or kabuki brush - I have the travel one, but I have to uncap it every time I use it, and that's annoying. I also don't have any eyeliner brushes of theirs, and I could always use more eyeshadow brushes.

What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you?

My extended family gets together for just about every major holiday, and it's really meaningful that we do that. I have been on vacation for a couple of holidays, and it's always been distressing to me that I don't get to celebrate with my family. Even with my parents and brother there, it doesn't feel right.

 

How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir?

We have enough household things like that.

 

When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most?

I couldn't answer this question earlier but today I am sick so it is appropriate! Let's see, last night my fiance cuddled with me and we watched the most recent episodes of The Closer and Eureka (strong women and scifi = comforting!), then he gave me a massage, then he drew me a hot bath (with Glowing Vulva bath oil in it!). All of that was very comforting. And just having him on my team in general is comforting, even though sometimes he laughs when I wail piteously (it's okay because I laugh at him when he wails piteously, because sometimes it's just so adorable it's funny).

Yay! I love Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion best. The Persuasion film adaptation I like best is the one with Ciarin Hinds. I like both the Colin Firth and Keira Knightley P&Ps - they're different, but they each have their own charms! I watched all those ITV adaptations several years ago, and enjoyed all of them except Persuasion, because HOMG WHY DID THE MAIN CHARACTER KEEP STARING AT THE CAMERA SO CREEPY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY.

Umm, jewelry, yes! I like arts&crafts, art nouveau, and art deco styles. I am a particular fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, and love this! And William Morris patterns. I heart those like burning.

There's a difference here between the superpower I would want and the one I would get based on personality - I'd want to have super-strength, but I'd probably get the ability to talk people to death (a power which my mother and fiance both say I already have).
