2010 'Weenie Questions!
Wishlists
BPAL - in signature, though that's a huge mess. Over at ScentBase, less messy!
Etsy
09/02
Baked Goods?
Oh, yes. I love soft, buttery shortbread. And some biscotti. And cookies. And bread. And . . . I also bake myself, so recipes (personal favorites or regional specialties) are awesome.
Family Prezzies?
Not necessary, though everyone appreciates being thought of.
Bottles/lots of little samples?
Either one, really, though I prefer imps/decants of things I haven't tried.
Social Networking
Livejournal, Facebook and Twitter, all linked in my signature.
Groupons or similar deals/gift certificates?
Groupon tends to be further flung in my area than I can usually use, though I haven't checked restaurant.com since last year Weenie Switch Witch.
09/03
T-Shirt/PJ size
L-XL crew if it's boy-type, XL-2X if it's girl-type. Babydolls are always 2X, and I generally wear an XL American apparel. T-shirts are made of win and awesome, the wittier the better!
PJ bottoms, I also buy in XL.
Mix CDs
I love them! I think that they're a great way to be exposed to new music. (totally stealing Ralenth's answer.)
Hallowe'en plans?
Taking the kids to various local trick-or-treat things, then mulled cider and scary movies (or maybe internetting and video games) at home with the porch lights off. Our neighborhood gets infested with inner city kids for Halloween, and I hate handing out stuff to teenagers and parents who don't even make a stab at a costume.
09/04
Girly Index:
Middling. I do hair and makeup if I'm going out or otherwise feel like it, and I love having my fingernails painted but rarely have the patience to do so.
Soft/plushy things
I have a Hudson's Santabear from 1980-something that I've slept with since I got it when I was in lower single digits. I also love plushy microbes (I lust after a bookworm) and Raggedy Ann and Andy.
Jane Austen?
Yes, books and movies.
Do you read Tarot cards? If not, would you be interested?
Yes, but I'm better at (and prefer) runes, particularly sticks. I have a couple tarot decks (a fairy one with its own book, and a new renaissance one that I got from my witch a few rounds ago), but I find them more difficult to read. One day, I'll sit down and practice, but that day hasn't happened yet.
eBooks
Sure, preferably PDF format as I'd be reading them on my computer. Though I do vastly prefer paper books, I'm starting to not hate the computer version.
Guilty TV pleasure
Pretty much anything I watch. VH1/MTV video shows (in the morning, they really play videos!) are probably the guiltiest, but I kind of hate TV in general. So, if I'm interested enough to watch something, it's a guilty pleasure. That said? The Tudors. I eat that historical romance soap opera shit right up.
Cosplay/costume
I do a lot of Ren faire-ing and SCA stuff, so bits and pieces for that are awesome. For SCA, I'm fairly early period (12th century) Irish, so jewelery tends to be pretty chunky and Viking-ish. For cons and things . . . I'd really love a Firefly-ish costume, probably Zoe or Kaylee. Or a steampunk-y newsie. So, bits and pieces towards any of those would be win.
Harry Potter house
Gryffindor with Ravenclaw leanings. Think Hermione, and you've about got it.
Alan Rickman, David Tennant, the Winchester Boys?
Yes, yes, no.
Scented Tarts:
I've never tried them.
Lip Balms?
Yes, but I am fairly picky. I can't do Burt's Bees, for instance - they tend to leave my lips more chapped.
Body Mods:
Earrings only, two holes in each ear. One day, though, I will have a tattoo or two.
Booze?
Yes. I love red wines, dark beers, vodka and rum, though I am always open to new things. I also adore most meads and some cordials.
What is your favorite artist or art style?
Photography! Other than that, I'm more about colors than a specific artist or style. Except for Edward Gorey, who is amazing.
09/05
Favorite Snack?
Those sesame stick things that they put in snack mixes. Gummy worms (the plain old fashioned ones). Baked (salted) pumpkin seeds.
What hobby/craft would you like to learn how to do?
Knit/crochet, sew (well, improve my skills there)
For those who decorate for Halloween, do you prefer cute decorations or creepy ones?
Creepy, all the way. Being scared is at least half the fun!
Also, as part of the cute-or-creepy question, would you want hand made, molded, glazed (by yours truly!) ceramic decorations (napkin rings, potporri/tart warmers, etc) to add to your stock?
Normally, I would say yes but I live with too many people in a small house. Everything gets broken or otherwise destroyed. So, thank you very much for the thought, but unless they're tealight/votive holders, no thanks.
how do you feel about mortars and pestles
Adore them. They're the one thing I collect.
Is there anything you have a phobia of, or that would make you go "squick" if you saw it in a package?
Nope, can't say there is.
9/6/10
When you go to an etsy wishlist, it will tell you what things are sold. If you click on the sold item, sometimes it will give options that are similar to what was sold, but not identical, would you like the similar item or prefer not to get it at all unless it's the same item? How picky are you?
Not! The wishlists are, for the most part, an indicator of taste more than a ZOMG EXACT THING I want.
Do you wear make up?
Rarely, but I have a favorite brand already.
Disney movies, Yay or Nay, and favourites if you do like them?
Oh, yes! Most of the cartoons. Anything Haley Mills. Probably my all-time favorites are Moonspinners and The Jungle Book.
Do you have A VCR, DVD Player or Blue Ray or a combo of the three?
We have a computer with a DVDRom/burner that we use for a DVD player. One day, it's likely to get upgraded to blueray (or we'll get a PS3), but until then, DVD all the way. (And, for the burned DVD question I think I missed, sure! I'm really fond of those anime music video things if they're done well. Harry Potter fanvids. Firefly/Serenity. Etc.)
Would you like custom icons as a gift? Yes! I love them. Witty quotes from poetry or other literature, Harry Potter (books or movies), Firefly/Serenity, Eureka, Warehouse 13, Haven (I love the smuggler boat dude, not the cop with no personality), Glee, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz . . . I like lots of things. My favorite colors are green, blue and purple, but that's on my questionnaire.
9/7/10
Socks? Sock Dreams? Anyone?
Ooh, yes. I adore them. And, if anyone happens to have the Harry Potter yarns, I love all of them and would love socks/fingerless mitten-glove things/scarves out of any or all.
What is something you use to comfort yourself when feeling yucky, depressed, or in pain?
Oatmeal with raisins and cinnamon, a pat of butter, a tablespoon of brown sugar and milk. Kid-hugs. Coffee/tea. Reading.
Favorite Halloween/Scary movies/books
The Halloween Tree and Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
Village of the Damned, both new and old
Carnival of Souls, the old 60s thing
Poltergeist
What would the name of your custom blend be? The description?
I think this is in my questionnaire, but mulled cider, leather and tobacco/nicotania for fall. Ice and ozone for winter. Lilac and green, growing things for spring. Rose, water and fresh cut grass for summer.
COMIC BOOKS. Do you read them? Are there any series you like, or some you would like to try?
Some, rarely. I'm an old school Comico girl (Robotech, Mage, Elementals, Evangeline, etc), and I have the first Freakangels book but would love the rest. I love Jhonen Vasquez and have lost my books by him in one of my various moves. There are some webcomics I follow that have books (Red String, GWS) and I'd love to have the Sandman ones - I don't have any.
Warm drinks?
Tea, coffee, mulled cider or wine, heated milk with honey or vanilla and cinnamon, hot cocoa, Russian tea, jello water (hot, non-solidified jello. Great for sore throats).
9/8/10
Do you have a special symbol or totem that is meaningful to you?
Symbols, not so much totems, really, though bees always end up being important despite my allergy. Keys/locks and compasses, otherwise.
Do you need a box for your bpal bottles? Your imps? Your something else to put in a box stuff?
Oh, yes. I adore boxes in general, and my BPAL ones are overflowing.
If you could be any person, being, or animal from Fantasy what or who would you be?
Uh . . . Falcor the luck dragon.
If you could go back to any point in time, where, when, why?
Too many to name! But, mostly just to experience it, to see what it was really like. I'm a huge history geek; it was part of the double major that I never finished.
Favorite Halloween Candy/Treat?
Roasted pumpkin seeds. Pixy Stix. Lik-m-ade.
What are your favorite baked goods/homemade treats?
Soft, buttery shortbread, yum. Molasses cookies. Ethiopian honey bread (there's a recipe online and I make it myself, but so. very. good.)
Would you be interested in an astrology birth chart?
Yes! I did one on Astro.com, but I don't know what time I was born, so I'd have to ask my parents to get the rising right and everything.
9/9/10
What movie scared the bejeezus out of you as a child?
Watership Down, Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street IV, Jaws
Name a couple of sites you frequent other than this one
postcrossing, chicagodusk (old World of Darkness gaming), twitter, etsy, facebook, dreamwidth, LJ, flickr . . .
Do you like the Muppets? Which is your favorite?
Yes, very much, but I like the Fraggles better. So, of the muppets, Scooter, Beaker and the Swedish Chef. Of the Fraggles, Red and Bobo
If you could have any creature (real or imaginary) as a pet, what would it be?
Mmmm, a really big dog. Or a luck dragon. Or both.
Comfort Rereads?
The Neverending Story, Princess Bride, The Refugee Summer, Harry Potter (any)
Will you be going out of town during the round, or is there any other time during the round when it would not be ideal for you to receive a package from your witch?
Not that I know of!
If you are in school now, what classes are you taking? Does anything you are currently studying really interest you? (if you are not in school, is there anything you are trying to learn?)
Not in school, though it feels like I am with all the time spent at my kids'. I'm trying to master all the settings on my digital SLR, and would love to learn photoshop, but haven't the patience to do it on my own.
What animal would your daemon be? Alternately, your patronus.
I think a bee, oddly.
What's YOUR favorite word?
Veracity. Serendipity.
Steampunk, yay or nay? If yay, what part appeals most?
Yea. I like the aesthetic as a whole, and I love thinking up alternate history stuff and making characters in my head. I also rock a wicked corset.
9/10/10
Would you like a bag of dried Honeycrisp apples?
Yes, very much so.
If you were to receive a knitted item (such as a scarf, hat, etc), what colors would you like? And do you have any sensitivies/allergies to any materials?
No sensitivities/allergies, but I prefer natural fibers. Blue, green and golden yellow are generally my favorite colors and pink my least favorite, but I'm pretty open!
Gift Certificate: physical or email?
If it's for a physical store, physical, but if I'm going to be using it online, email's fine.
Favorite Yankee Candles? Or other brands scents?
No idea! But the husband doesn't much like scented candles.
would you like a zuni animal fetish? And if so, what animal?
I am more or less indifferent to most native(ish) to my country religious practices. But as the ones of these I've seen are amazingly pretty and/or cute, I'd be down. I like dogs, and bees seem to be a theme.
And how does everyone feel about glow in the dark radishes?
http://www.etsy.com/...=cat1_gallery_8
Indifferent to these, too!
What places to do you visit that you'd like a gift card to? Starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, B&N, a favorite restaurant or clothing shop?
Borders/B&N, Caribou coffee, Target, Old Navy, Hot Topic (though I really only go there for belts, or things related to movies/books. Harry Potter stuff, Hunger Games stuff, Invader Zim stuff, etc.)
Cake or Frosting?
Both - it's the whole textural mishmash. But, if forced to choose at gunpoint, frosting. Unless it's crap.
9/11/10
Cake truffles? If YES! Cake/icing/chocolate type?
Sure! Pretty much any, but not dark chocolate, and not red velvet.
are you interested in mini bottles(under 100ml for hand luggage) of bath and body products?
Sure!
Vampire shows, literature, etc? Yay or nay?
Meh. I like the classics, yeah, and I loved The Vampire Diaries when I was a kid. But mostly, I can't be arsed to care. Give me scary, gritty, modern fae fighting for existence in a world that doesn't have enough wonder to sustain them. That's sexy, and also sad and terrifying.
If you play console video games, what game systems do you have and what games would you love to have?
We have a PS2, and would love anything Silent Hill. Also my in-laws have a Wii, and we'd love anything Rock Band or Mario.
How do you all feel about flowers and plants? Flower and plant seeds? Drawings of flowers or plants? Pressed flowers?
I know a lot about flowers and plants academically speaking, but am terrible at keeping them alive. So seeds and such, probably not so much (though I really want to try one of those Aero things some day). Drawings and pressed/dried, sure!
How do you feel about marzipan?
.....ew. But it's fun to sculpt with, and subtleties (food made to look like something else) are a time-honored tradition, and often made of marzipan.
If you could have 3 BPAL bottles fall (gently) out of the sky right this second that you've been looking for or pining for - which 3 would they be?
Uh . . . I don't know. I try not to pay attention when I know I can't buy, and I have bottles of most of my can't live withouts. Though, I keep not buying Tintagel because 'it's GC, it'll be there forever!', and I should know better. I'd also really like to try Yuki Onna.
Are there any international treats that you love and have a hard time finding?
Real Australian Tim Tams. Also, the German gummy bears that I used to love when I was a kid - the ones made with real juice and stuff that are still the same texture/consistency as regular gummy bears (and if they have gummy worms like that, even better).
Is there anything from the 'Ween BPTP update that you would like but haven't ordered for yourself?
The Pomegranates and Lambs Wool. (I haven't ordered any of it, but most of the 'Weenies end up being too foodie for me.)
If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?)
Sure! I do collage/mixed media and am taking up scrapbooking.
Find your iPod (or other MP3 device), put it on shuffle/random. What are the first five songs to come up?
I did this in thread, but it's fun so I'll do it again! Only five here, though.
1) Jesca Hoop: The Kingdom
2) Rush: Tom Sawyer
3) BoA: Duvet
4) Schuyler Fisk: The Good Stuff
5) Katherine McPhee: Love Story
Soundtracks you'd like?
Oh, goodness. Honestly, I torrent most of them. Obscure Broadway stuff, maybe?
If you could see one concert right now, who would it be?
Over the Rhine again - Autumn makes me think of them for some reason. Also, SJ Tucker again, preferably at Faerie Worlds. That's two, I know.
9/12/10
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go to last.fm immediately and create an account! Download the scrobbler! Link us to your account! If you reject this assignment, maybe just tell us what your mp3 player says you listen to a lot?
So many music-related questions! It makes me happy. My last.fm profile is here, though I don't use it often.
Any countries you're interested in?
Mostly the British Isles and Germany, though I randomly study any number of things/places.
Would you enjoy homemade bath products (bath salts, fizzies, etc.) and/or linen sprays? Esp. if scented with some of your favorite BPAL scents?
Sure!
If you witch made you something and it didn't come out just right, would you still want it?
Of course. It's the thought that counts.
Are you a foodie?
In scents, not at all. In philosophy, oh gods, yes.
Any sports fans in the house? What's your favorite sport/team/player?
Pretty much the Detroit teams, if we're talking pro, and Michigan teams if we're talking college. We're big hockey fans, moderate football fans, and pretty indifferent to everything else that isn't olympics.
For holidays, do you decorate? Would you like decorative stuff, weenie or otherwise? If so, do you lean towards the elegant, the crafty/folksy, or the more, erm, campy?
We would decorate, if in a better neighborhood/house. Mostly, elegant - for Halloween, elegant and spooky-scary. Our Christmas tree is music themed - all the ornaments are instruments (or things playing instruments - we have a reindeer jazz band, for instance)/bells. So, if you find something awesome at some year-round Christmas store or whatever, sure (especially if it's of the unbreakable sort) - they're hard to find even in Frankenmuth.
9/13/10
what interests you from the latest lab update?
I don't know anything about Dawn-the-comic-book (feel free to educate me if you're into that kind of thing!) but the related scents sound fantastic. Harvest moon sounds delicious, but it's got the dreaded word "dry" in it, so I don't know how it'd work out - decant or testable sniffie would be awesome. Mabon and Wildfire sound like they'd make me swoon. Is that all? I'm afraid to look too much deeper, as I totally can't afford to go on a perfume buying binge right now.
How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff?
I love it/them. Fountain pens are a personal favorite, as are the Sharpie pens, particularly the retractable kind, and I like all sorts of stationary. I have some Emily the Strange stuff right now, and some with cutesy cartoon versions of internal organs.
Would you like homemade preserves (e.g. marinated veggies, pickled onions, chilli jam?)
Oh yes, so very much. Especially with recipes!
If you've got stuff on your BPAL wishlist, would partial bottles be okay?
Yes!
Would you like something you have to make yourself?
Mmm . . . well, it depends. Recipes are a definite yes. Puzzles are cool. I don't do a lot of models or that kind of stuff, though; that's more my husband's thing.
Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you?
Feel free to make it! Hand/homemade things are awesome.
Who is your favorite soap etailer?
I have to admit, I don't usually use bar soap. But just to look at, I adore Paintbox.
What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc?
Not so much, at least not until I have a house of my own that actually fits my family.
With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference?
I have absolutely no preference. Is up to my witch!
What kind of make-up do you wear? What colors? Is there anything you'd like to try but haven't yet?
I generally use Artistry stuff, but that said, I really kind of wanted to get MAC's Wonder Woman stuff, and the Venomous (I think?) stuff gives me glee.
Who would be on your top 5 (IE famous people you’d date/have relations with )
Tori Amos
Karen Gillan
Christopher Ecclestone
Jeremy Irons
Bruce Springsteen
I have only just noticed that three of my top five are British and one plays at being so. I can't decide if this is amusing or strange or what. They are also in no particular order.
Do you crave many Ecards and contact or are you okay with little contact from your Witch?
I think I'm pretty open to varying levels of contact, but I think we'll say I prefer medium and up. I don't want to be all crazy high maintenance, though, because I know my life is crazy and other people's are too!
Do you have a place where you list all the BPAL you have or have tried?
Sort of - I started too on ScentBase, but I'm sporadic about updating my stash and haven't finished adding all the stuff I had before I joined a couple decant circles of doom.
Do you like maple sugar candy?
I adore it.
What is your position on the chocolate & bacon flavor combination?
Uh . . . I'll try almost anything once?
If you are a tea-drinker do you need a tea-cozie for your pot?
"Need" is a terribly strong word. Also, I'm a heathen - I just pour the water straight out of the kettle.
Go to your spice cabinet, what are the three most used spices?
Coriander, oregano and cayenne pepper according to my husband, who does most of the cooking.
Microsoft or Apple?
Eh. Microsoft, but only cos I'm used to it. I used to say Apple. But I really kind of hate both.
Where was your last vacation? What did you like most?
Long weekend in Charlevoix, and it wasn't a particularly relaxing vacation - it was with my in-laws. So, probably watching my kids go horseback riding.
Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them?
Sure, on both counts! I love snail mail.
Do you hate any food things with a passion?
Uh, no, not that I can think of.
Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree?
I'd be okay with that.
9/14/10
Chocolate or other types of candy?
Yes please. Though I eat it all sparingly because I have need of dental work and it hurts my caveties. =\
For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags?
Loose leaf, but I don't turn my nose up at bags.
If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls?
I love scarfs - lightweight ones in different colors would be awesome. Also socks. And I really want a pair of those convertible fingerless glove/mittens. I don't really do the shawl thing, though, alas!
Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot like, or would like to be like?
I've been compared to Red the Fraggle most of my life. Other than that . . . I don't know. There are ones I identify with, but I wouldn't say I'm *like* them, and there are aspects of some that I would like to share, but no one I'd really want to be like. Except maybe Hermione Granger.
Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect?
I could use a mandolin, or one of those popcorn popper things that . . . uh . . . lemme find a link. Like this - and it roasts nuts, too! I may have to just buy one of those myself.
Music, DO you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit?
If it's explicit, I want it explicit. As for live or studio, if it's a can't-live-without artist, I want it all. Otherwise, I generally prefer studio.
If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most?
Pet-wise, I love dogs, frogs and turtles. Otherwise, I love giraffes.
Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)?
Lilacs, trilliums, lupines
Do you have a favorite quotation? Song lyric? Book passage? WhateverthehecktheycalltheanonymousregionalwisdomthingiePROVERB! that word.
Oh, so many. And I read voraciously, so there are always more - introduce me to your favorites!
What is a bpal scent that you've been dying to try for awhile but just can't find? (A scent where even a tester would do)
Honestly, I try not to pay attention to BPAL when I can't afford it, so I don't even know. Though, I have a decant of something called Intergalactic that is so very, very good that I'd love to find more of it but it's one of those ones that's impossible to find.
Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that you have some children/spawn (1 or more), and, hypothetically speaking, your witch would like to spoil them a little but knows nothing of kids these days. What do they like or dislike? Also is there anything a (sane) adult might think they would like that you don't think is appropriate for whatever reason? (I'm thinking of things like temp tattoos, make up, things that make noise, or anything else that might be bad for non-obvious reasons.)
My children are 8, 5 and 1. The elder two love books, temporary tattoos are awesome, pool toys (both are huge swimmers). The middle wants to be a cheerleader and claims to be a girly-girl, but is the first one to throw down in the dirt and whatever, while the oldest says she's a tomboy but really wants to be left alone in a corner to read and listen to music like she's fifteen. The baby is too young to really tell yet!
Is there anything you would like that can be delivered over the internet? Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that
Nothing in specific, but if you want to recommend things or intro me to things, feel free! I like Harry/Draco slash . . . Other than that, I don't even know.
What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang)
This changes by the day. But there's this thing called boconccini that's basically the Italian version of roladen that my husband makes, and his creamy tomato soup and parmesan-herb stuffed mushrooms.
NaNoWriMo?
Oh, yes. I go crazy every November and have for . . . five or six years, now.
9/15/10
How do you feek about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not?
Sure! I'm a Brownie troop leader, and that kind of stuff is great for the kids. Also, I love fridge magnets.
Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to?
Anansi Boys, the first Song of Fire and Ice book, a new Dark Is Rising set (I'm missing one [one!] from my old set)
Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them?
I don't read mangas but I'm not against doing so - feel free to educate me! And I have a few anime that I really love (Serial Experiments: Lain, Prince of Tennis, Ranma 1/2, anything Tenchi, Sakura Wars, Eskaflowne [series more than movie], Robotech, a bunch of the movies), but don't really know a lot outside of them.
Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like?
Of course!
If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes?
I think I may have already answered this somewhere up there, but sure! Things made specifically with me in mind are awesome.
OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns?
When I buy every day socks, I usually get anklets (I think that's what they're called) - not the ones that disappear into my shoes, but not the ones that come up to mid-calf, either. When I buy seasonal socks, they're usually toe socks, and usually come up to mid-calf. Which is to say! Whatever the spirit moves you to make.
How do people feel about word magnets
I love them. And ones in German or Spanish would be quadruple-y awesome.
If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be?
This is another one I feel like I answered. Anyway, I can't find a good picture of it, but the black and white dress that Christina Ricci is wearing at the end of Sleepy Hollow. Except maybe brown and cream, or blue and white instead of black and white. So pretty.
How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc.
I'm always intrigued.
What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Or do you just plan on ordering individual items?
Oh, oh. I'm avoiding looking because I has the broke. But, when I did peek, it seemed like mostly the Naughties that stuck out as zomg want to me.
9/16/10
If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist?
Skinny to medium width, please, and long!
Don't like scarves? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste?
I am indifferent about shawls.
How do you feel about recipes?
I adore them, but seldom use them verbatim.
What kind of a cook/baker are you?
Experimental. Joyful. Perfectionist. Impatient.
Are you happiest calling for delivery or microwaving a lean cuisine, Or will Food Network be asking you to host their new program?
If it's baking, the latter, if it's cooking, I'm happiest with my husband (or someone else) cooking for me, but carry-out or microwave stuff will do in a pinch.
Various recipe questions
Yes, please. Give to me your ingredient lists and instructions.
How about home made mixes or kits? Kind of like the cookie in a jar thing, where you would need to add the perishable ingredients?
I'm down with those, yeah.
if you are a tea lover, what are your flavor preferences? Green? Black? Herbal (I know, technically those are NOT teas, but tisanes)? Flavored blacks/greens?
Earl Grey is all time favorite. Other than that, I tend to grab whatever looks/sounds interesting at the time.
9/17/10
Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd’s that you’ve been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?
A) the complete Gilmore Girls, Tori Amos' Piano and Bootleg collections, BSG both new and old, Eureka, Stargate Atlantis
Not at all!
Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after?
I don't know much from other perfume etailers. Dear witch, if this question is for me, please prod me somehow so I go check it out.
Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?)
While the idea is really awesome in theory, and I've done some interesting things and seen other people do so as well, I don't really have the space for such things. So, no thanks.
Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses?
.....I know nothing of these things, though they sound awesome.
Anne Taintor, anyone?
Yes, please.
Which web comics do you enjoy?
Questionable Content, Som*Pos, the whole Walkyverse (Shortpacked, Roomies, It's Walky, etc), Arpeggio, Freakangels, Red String, Penny and Aggie, Treading Ground, Girls With Slingshots, Girl Genius, Galaxion

Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind?
I do. Hair sticks (though I need them in sets of two), those barrette things that are really a pretty arc with one stick (I like leather and wood the best), etc. I can always use ponytail holders/scrunchies.
Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense?
Actually safe, yes. Otherwise, censoring is minimal, though graphic depictions of sex are out. Tasteful nudes are not.
In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer(the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats?
Sure!
How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories?
I think turning something old into something new is awesome.
Is there anything you want from the Violette Market update?
I don't know this etailer, though I've heard of them.
What is your favourite habitat and climate to live in? How about to visit? (ie. forest, canyons, mountains, by the beach; temperate, tropical...)
Temperate, and forest-y or near.
What do you wish you could make/craft if you had the know-how and supplies? Specifically, which particular items?
I'd really love to learn how to throw pottery.
Is there anything you would like from Conjure Oils general catalogue or the new updates that isn't already on your wishlist?
See my answers about VM and Possets. Though, I really love the decant of Naughty Amongst Novels that I got ages ago, and would love to have more of it or a resurrection of it or what have you.
Am I alone in this, or is there a Book Fair/Comic Con scent you're dying to get your paws on, too?
Sibyl sounds amazing - it's the one that stands out. The rest sound intriguing, though I think Mount Misery and Sweet Holy Roads would go to all dirt on me, because things with that note usually do.
Anyone need address/phone type books?
Can't say I do - I keep all that information on my computer or in my phone.
9/19/10
Do you read/like fantasy? What kind of books or authors do you love? Which one would you like to read? Would you like gifts related to it?
I do! Anything to do with Faerie is a pretty safe bet. I love Maggie Furey's Aurian books and . . . well, lots. I've been dying to try some China Mieville. Things relating are cool!
Soaps : do you like them? What brands? What scents? Anything you're dying to try?
Eh. I'd like to try some of Tarty's stuff because she's one of ours (and I talked her into her first Switch With round last year!), but other than that, I have fairly sensitive skin, and two of my kids have skin that's even more so. Soap is hard.
I wondered if my witch or any witch would enjoy things like nice pens to draw with or anything similar?
I am not an artist, but I love cool pens for writing with.
For those who are yarnies, would you like other-than-yarn witchery? Hooks, needles? Preference of material? Do you use/would you like handmade stitch markers, etc.?
I'm not a yarnie, though I have this grand goals of learning to spin, knit and crochet, and thus create something from (near) start to finish all by my own hand.
Does anyone do altered books? Would you be interested in old books to alter? Any type or title in particular?
I do a lot of collage, so sure! Nothing in specific - I use what moves me for a given piece.
Did someone ask about incense yet? Would you like some? Something to store or burn it in? What scents? What form?
I do some, but I let my husband pick it out, because he's choosey. Sticks, usually.
Any oddball free things you collect or would want saved for you?
Boxtops for Education thingies!
9/20/10
If you happened to be my Witchee, is there something you'd like from the Arcana Halloween update?
See my answers to the other etailers.
How many bottles of BPAL do you have?
20-ish? A metric shit ton of imps/decants, though.
Is there any exercise program that you're interesting in learning? Meditation, Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Zumba ect? Or if you do any of these (or anything else sport related) are there any things you need/want? Candles, music, mats, water bottles ect?
Yoga, belly dancing and Zumba, yeah. I went to a yoga studio in walking distance from my house for awhile, but it was one of those ones where they crank up the heat to 150 (or whatever) and I couldn't deal. If not for that, I would have loved it. Belly dancing, I've mostly done at SCA stuff, and Zumba just looks and sounds fun. Water bottles are always useful, as are candles and music. And . . . yeah, I could use a new yoga mat, for that matter.
Anyone else into Emily Autumn?
I like her, but I have all of her stuff (I think).
What's on your walls? Please show us up to three paintings/posters/whatever. If you love a painting so much that you would steal (to watch it with your greedy eyes) one, please share.
Heh, I'm not that organized. But! I have a really gorgeous tarot print from my last witch that I'm saving for the day I have a house I *want* to decorate that way.
do you like Girl Scout cookies? What kind?
This was my question. I have way too many, so though I love them, no GS cookies for me.
What's your take on homemade apple butter? Want some?
Love. Yes please.
9/21/10
Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.?
Garlic cheese, yes. Garlic dills, totally. Garlic sweet stuff, not so much.
Can I talk to you about the living dead? How do you feel about Zombies?
I love Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead, but that's about it. So, largely indifferent.
9/22/10
Do you have a deviantart print wishlist or favourites list?
I have no such thing, sorry.
Is there anything from Blooddrop that you want to try? GC? Halloween update?
I feel like I should look these things up, now that I've been asked about so many different etailers. From the Halloween update, almost all of them sound good so it's probably easier to say what sounds like it *won't* work. Happy Halloween, Hearing Voices, Jill O'Lantern, Pink Pumpkin. The horse LEs also sound good, and I'm terrified to look at GC, lest I find another obsession.
What kind of shoes do you need/want? What size shoes do you wear? Would you mind gently used shoes?
I walk funny, so I wear out my shoes pretty quickly - I'm always in need of new sneakers/every day shoes. There's this brand called Jambu that I'd like to try, but other than that, I love Vans, Simples and Adidas, and I wear 9 in womens.
Do you like paper dolls (new or vintage) or coloring in books?
Coloring books, yes. And if anyone happens to have access to the old Girl Scout paper dolls, I'd love to have them to show my troop.
Do you like weird scary things as traditionally girly fashion items like heels and handbags?
Sure!
What song is on heavy rotation for you right now?
Not any one in specific - I'm busy retagging all my music so it shows up in itunes properly, so I haven't been listening much.
Are you coveting any of the NYCC atmospheric sprays?
They sound good, but I don't really use them. I still have almost full decants of the Seasons Inquisition room sprays.
If you could get any one thing hand-painted from your witch, what would it be and what would be on it?
You know, I don't know! I'm open to just about anything.
Would you (assumin' you're a yarnie) be interested in a naturally-dyed yarn that's designed to very gradually fade with washing?
I am not a yarnie, but have grand visions of becoming so. So, yes.
If you have played before, what are some of the most memorable things you've gotten? What really made you go WOW? If you haven't played, same thing, but not limited to SW.
My favorite thing EVAR so far was a copy of the British edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
9/23/10
Do you collect stones/rocks? I'm talking like "semi" precious stones, ie moonstone, bloodstone, quartz ect. Are there any that you're looking for at the moment? Are you in need of a stone but don't know which kind?
I don't, but I do make jewelery. So, anything in bead form is awesome, and I'll mix and match them as seems appropriate for a given person or piece.
What's your favorite Halloween Music?
I like the creepy sound effects CDs, and also creepy classical pieces. The X-Files theme. Goofy stuff like Purple People Eater and Monster Mash. Pretty much everything, really.
9/24/10
Just curious, but if your witch was to make an amigurumi critter (or other plushie) just for you, what would it be?
Whatever she'd like, with heavy leaning towards punked out Hello Kitty.
Would you want a local/tourist item from your witch? Like a t-shirt, mug or shot glass?
Sure! If mug, I love the ones that are as big as your head. Not so much shot glasses, though.
Okay, who wants NAlloween and some Vampire Apothecary goodness?
Sure?
Venomous Villains?
ZOMGYSPLZ
Last Unicorn?
See above.
Who is your fav Disney Villian/villianess? How about hero/herione? (doesn't have to be specifically Disney though)
Villain/Villianess: Scar, Cruella DeVille, Malifecent
Hero/Heroine: They're mostly whiny brats. What's her name from Enchanted, maybe.
9/25/10
If you could make a scent that represents where you live (or have lived), what would be the ingredients?
I grew up in Kalamazoo, MI, which is a college town and not good for much else. So, ivy-covered brick (K College, parts of Western), paper (old James River plant), apothecary/pharmeceutical type stuff (Pfizer, Pharmacia, Upjohn, whatever it is now), mint and celery.
Here, I'd say trees, brick and perfectly kept lawns, with splashes of booze, hidden nicotine/tobacco and lots and lots of secrets. My current town is a CT waiting to happen. Or maybe something Cthulu-ish. Yay creepy old money suburbia.
Are you in need of Roller bottles or anything of the like?
While they could be handy, I'm terrified of transferring stuff. So no, not so much.
9/29/10
Is there one scent that is your go-to for comfort on a bad stressful day? Like the perfume equivalent of a security blankie?
Tintagel or Magdalene/Alice, depending on the season. I have LE favs to, depending on the reason it's bad/stressful, but I have bottles of those already.
What are you going to be for Halloween?
Red Fraggle!
Is there something just super random you like/enjoy/want/are ogling that has not been and will not be covered by any other questions, because it's just that WEIRD?
Uh . . . I don't think so? Other than maybe a donation to Powerchords on Kickstarter in my name. That would be made of awesome and win, but it'd have to be in by midnight tonight (30 September).
9/30/10
Villainess has an update. Anyone wanting anything from it?
Sure?
how are all the witchees fixed for purses--lunchbags, etc?
Lunchbags are always handy, but more of the kid variety than grown up. Purses are awesome!
Now, I have a question for you. About notes. Which are your favourite ones? Do you have a kind of "note top ten?" Anything that works particularly well on you? Do you have a perfume category (foody, floral, aquatic, musky) that you favour? And are there any notes you have never tried, but think would work well on you?
Aquatic, musky, clean, fruity - favored tones. Ice, snow and ozone tend to work well, along with amber, leather, apple, citrus, cinnamon but not heavy, vetiver, grass. 'Dry' anything is a death note.
Would you like a sugar skull decorated by your witch? Or do you like sugar skull stuff in general?
I am fairly indifferent, though I think they're pretty!
10/01/10
So, who here loves pomegranates? Are the good as a fruit, a flavoring or just a scent?
Flavoring and scent, yum!
Haunt Update?
I heard there was one . . .
10/4/10
Do you have a preferred weight of yarn to work in? Lace, sock, worsted, bulky, handspun with variation?
I am not a knitter/crochet-er yet, so whatever's best for beginners, or crafting other than knitting/crocheting. (I also like to make yarn dreadfalls. So handspun art yarn is awesome.)
Anyone like little seasonal decorative wreaths? Like gravevine wreaths embellished with silk flora, etc.?
I like them, but have nowhere to store them when it's not the appropriate season.
Do any witchees need a Snuggie?
.....only if it's a very ironic Snuggie.
10/5/10
Would you like to receive international magazines, even if you don't speak the language it's written in, just to ogle the pictures or for the novelty of it? If yes, what kind of magazines, or what magazines in particular?
I'd rather have website links rather than waste the paper of a magazine in a language I can't read. That said, just about anything in German would be win.
Would you have interest in any of the new Christmas stuff from Lush?
Sure?
Oh, witchee-poo... if there was one bottle you could have from the NYCC exclusives, what would it be?
If I could only choose one (which is more than I can usually choose!) I'd probably go with White Lady. But really, all of them sound worth a try - which is why I tend to go decants of LEs. I will say that Mount Misery sounds like one of those ones that tends not to be good on me.
If someone were to make you one of the items in this post which would it be?
I like number 2.
If you were my witchee, would you mind a gift certificate where you'd have to do it old school style and mail it in with your order form?
I wouldn't be averse.
10/7/10
Did you forget anything fun/interesting or find something new and exciting?
I add things as they catch my fancy, so yes and no? They're more suggestions of the type of thing I might like than anything else, though.
10/9/10
I came home with some Dungeon Crawl and some Bedbugs yesterday. If you were my witchee, would you want some of either/both?
Yes please!
10/12/10
Would you want your witch to reveal herself? How?
Yes, I would like to know who to thank. S/he could do so however pleases him/her, though.
10/13/10
Today I got one of the Starbucks Halloween Bearista Bears - it's dressed like a werewolf! Is this something witchees might like?
Hahaha, that sounds adorable! Though I'm not a Starbucks girl, I may become one for one of those.
Are you interested in Halloween costumes for your pet(s)?
.....no. If I had a pet, it would be a very large dog. They tend to not take kindly to that sort of thing.
10/14/10
Do you prefer scented or unscented lotions/moisturizers?
Generally unscented for two reasons - 1) so as not to interfere with the perfume of the day and 2) because my kids use it if they can get away with it at all and a lot of perfumes (and dyes, for that matter) make them break out.
10/18/10
So....let's say that you're my witchee, and you have an affinity for widgets. Let's also pretend that I sent you one of these widgets, but in a form that has a very special personal significance to me. Would you find that to be touching (in a "Yay, now I'll always use this and think of my witch!" way) or tacky (in a "My witch is making this all about her!" way)?
I would find it touching! Knowing more about the person putting so much thought into gifting me is always a good thing.
Have you had a chance to try Halloweenies? If so, which ones are you really really in love with this year?
I haven't, though I'd love to.
Pocket shrines! Would you like one, made for a particular obsession of yours?
Hah! The idea is adorable, though there's nothing I'm that into, really.
10/20/10
If you were my witchee, would you want to receive Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, or wouldn't that be your cup of classics?
That'd be cool. Books in general are awesome.
Would you like some homemade snack mix?
Sure!
Knitterly Witchees, would you like a yarn bowl?
Not a knitterly witchee, alas.
10/21/10
What are you most interested in from the Yule update?
Hahaha, oh dear. I'll have to go look. *returns* All of the Nutcrackers EXCEPT The Rat King and Grossvater (I don't know how to make the double S on my very American keyboard) Tanz, all of the Christmas Carols EXCEPT The Shadows of What May Be, all of the Yuletides. Just testable sniffies or partial decants would be perfect! Then I could judge what I wanted to get more of.
