What are your thoughts on Incense?

I'm kind of meh about it. I'm not a fan of most types, and the only incense I've ever liked was given to me by a Chinese coworker when she left the country to return home. And it is lasting me a long time.

 

Are there any particular movies you want on DVD?

I can't think of anything in particular that I would want.

I feel about Possets about the same as Arcana -- BPAL is enough and I don't follow them. I wouldn't mind samples though.

Yes, yes, yes, and YES. I would love anything in German! I'm fluent.

No thanks. I'm not a decorations person and I would forget to take them down. I still have the skeleton on my door, but that's OK because it's a skeleton. True story: my undergrad's colors were orange & black and they changed the color of the street signs and had all sorts of orange & black crap everywhere. It looked like Halloween-town all year long.

Not really.

I'd love to get to know my witch better, even if I don't know my witch's name. But if witch is busy or shy or totally ninja I can understand because my witch is clearly already pretty damn awesome.

 

Can you receive flowers at your address? Would you prefer food or a plant instead?

I can, but I'm usually not home during normal business hours. I like the idea of flowers and have never gotten any, but then again I would feel kind of bad because well... they die. And then it just seems like a waste. I have a black thumb of death when it comes to plants, too. Just ask my clinging-to-life palm thingie.

 

What about 2010 Wall calenders? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject?

Vendors have left me with a surplus of wall calendars at work and I just have no need for one at home. I already have a planner and I'm trying to transition it to my phone.

There are waaaaay too many new scents out there, so I'm really not up on these scents. I'm always down for trying new scents, so decants would be nice. What's all the drama surrounding them about?

 

which shoes do you own that are your favorite? What are your "daily drivers"?

Shoes. Woe.

 

So, I'm not really a shoe person. I think I have maybe 8 pairs of shoes, of which 4 are old and worn out but I just can't bear to throw away. I have a pair of Teva flip flops that get worn pretty much everywhere. But I'm not allowed to wear open toed shoes at work, so I've got a pair of clogs for that. I loooove clogs. Those are, I guess, my "daily drivers." I guess specifically Merrill clogs, because this is the 2nd pair of theirs that I've owned and I wore the last pair out (and still have them for who knows what reason). Now that it's so freaking hot, I usually leave them in my desk and wear my Tevas to/from work. My favorite shoes though are my boots. They're knee high, soft, black, and have a bit of a platform to them. Except they don't go well with jeans, and I can't wear skirts at work. My least favorite are my heels. Cute, but DEATH. I wore them to the bar a while back and NEVER AGAIN.

Either way. If you send something big and it should be here and I haven't posted receiving it, I might need a nudge because it probably ended up at the apartment office and they never tell us if we have something there because we are supposed to just know it is there.

Yes! I love beers, especially microbrews, and just about any kind except IPAs. Dark, amber, and light beers are great. Wines I'm pickier about, but I love ports. I'm more of a beer person than anything.

Yeah -- bath oils and atmosphere sprays. Nothing in particular, just any of them since they all sound awesome.

 

Are you a Miyazaki fan? Do you have all the films you like, or is your collection missing one? Is there any merchandise you want?

Yes!! I only have Howl's moving Castle, but I've seen most of them. I loooove Mononoke! Anything with Mononoke would be exciting. In my travels I came across a small Miyazaki and Moebius art exhibition and it was phenomenal. I really want to see Ponyo.

What are your favorite fruits?

Seriously? Like all of them! <3 pineapple, mango, kiwi (esp golden kiwis! aroused.gif), raspberries, strawberries, grapes, blackberries, berries of all sorts. To keep this short, I'm not all that wild about apples, bananas, or blueberries. I eat them and like them, but they're at the bottom of my list.

 

I have seen a lot of Yankee Candles haters..... Personally I like Yankee Candle (some of them, anyway). Do you or don't you, and if not, what candles do you like? This assumes you like candles. Otherwise, what specific home fragrance do you use?

I do like Yankee candles, and candles in general. No preference for flavors. I have a buttercream one that gets sniffed more than burned though. Seriously, my friends and I will just sit there and pass it back and forth and sniff at it.

I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes.

I like things in glass vials. Not so into earrings unless they are gauged, and a phone charm just would not work.

 

How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? Anti-fur, leather, shells, etc.? Does even faux wig you out?

I do not want anything with leather or fur, but shells are fine and I make an exception for bones. Faux leather and fur is OK though.

Lately I deal with it by biking (and listening to my iPod while doing so)

It's California, so it's damn sunny still and warm. At least by autumn it cools off some so it's not 110F anymore, but it can still be too warm for me. I have no sense of time since moving here, since every day the damn sun is out. I WANT RAIN, DAMNIT. I don't like snow though. It rained last night, but looking around outside you would never guess it had.

 

What's your favorite product(s) at Trader Joe's?

There is a TJ close to where I work. I usually get some of their prepackaged foods that I can just heat up and eat -- either room temp offerings or from the frozen section. I also like to grab one treat to keep in my desk for afternoon noshings if I really feel that I need a bit of sugar. I just put some english toffee in my desk. Haven't touched it yet, though.

 

If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching?

If I'm caught in front of the tv... scandalous and unlikely. Actually, my neighbor has cable and I watch whatever he has on when I'm over. Usually it's Family Guy, South Park, or the Food Network. My own TV plays whatever I put in the DVD player. I'm really not a bit TV person AT ALL. I don't own my TV and DVD -- they are on loan from a friend and a former roomie, respectively. I don't think I would actually buy my own TV.

I've just got my (new) desk stocked up with some snacks -- Cheese crackers & english toffee from Trader Joe's, Special K granola bars, drink mix-ins, and honey sticks from my awesome witch last round, Carmencita. I would pick only one of those to have a little bit of for a snack. Also, nuts (esp cashews) are awesome and so is the Taiwanese tofu stuff that's a bit like jerky and all chewy and tasty.

 

If you had the funds to comission an original painting for yourself, what would it be of? What would it be like- colors, size, style?

Nature scene, probably tropical water, of about poster size to put on the wall and full of very vibrant colors.

I think The Girl is the one that sounds the absolute best to me and that I kinda want want want WANT.

I really liked the labels for Giallo, Labores Solis, and Black Butterfly Moon. There's probably others, but without a gallery database that's all that I can come up with on the fly.

When there is an update, when I place an order, or whenever I get imps/bottles from some kind soul. Sometimes in the case of updates I wait to get decants that I've ordered before putting up a bottle WL though. I also put a little date below so people can see when it was last updated.

I do not actively costume, but I do like "costume" accessories for every day wear, like a cool necklace or bracelet that would be perfect for some sort of costume but otherwise just spices up my outfit for the day. I hope that makes sense.

 

 

What fictional character do you identify most with and why?

I don't know who I really identify with most. There's a lot who have traits I can identify with, and some who I wish I were more like. My more anime savvy friends say I seem to channel Osaka with most of my observations and commentary. Having read up on it, I can kind of see where they get that since I do make a number of off-kilter comments and strange, vaguely disturbing to normal people, ideas. My childhood friend says that the character Ampris, from the Alien Chronicles, reminds him a lot of me, and I guess I can agree with that.

 

Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold?

Yes I could. It should hold at least 2, but not so many that it is no longer travel size. 4-6 would probably be ideal.

Yikes, I don't know! I like the idea of things individually wrapped because that could be really really fun to open, but on the other hand it seems kind of wasteful even if I would toss any wrappings in the recycling bin.

Coffee or meat. And uh, since I'm trying to be healthy and lose weight and all, please don't include too many sweets. Hard candies are good and all, but I do not need irresistible tasties to counteract my efforts at this point in time. Self-restraint is hard when awesomeness has been gifted so generously. Oh, and no cat treats -- Kinase won't touch 'em.

 

What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why?

I've always kind of wondered what the rage about Tokyo Stomp is. And I majorly <3 Velvet Cthulhu and Harvest Moon 06 which are kind of hard to find... when I looked a month or so ago. I haven't had much time for internet browsings lately.

My last lab. I mean, what's not to like about bones and dissecting cow knees on a weekly basis?! Add in PCR, cell culture, and super geeky coworkers, and it just gets better and better. I don't have much time to read, but I do like to read. My favorite series are: His Dark Materials, The Dark Tower, The Gormenghast Trilogy, and Harry Potter.

Oooh, I'd love a (BPTP) apron, and could totally do with well... anything. I don't have much in the way of ingredients, or places to store said ingredients. I do like to cook, just don't have much time, and I've no longer got roomies so it's only the stuff I've got which is limited.

I haven't had one in a long time, but I imagine it would be fun to color one with some crayons.

 

What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions?

Party/dance of some sort, not sure where yet. I may even be hosting it. At any rate, it will involve lots of alcohol, music, and dancing while in costume.

 

You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out?

Oh yeah, it's totally scavenging time at the end of the pay period, especially if it's on a later day in the week. I'm most likely to rummage around and concoct something out of what I can find, or go mooch off my neighbor, than I am to get takeout.

 

If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it?

I've kind of been redecorating my apartment lately. During the summer there's 2-3 big move-out periods and a lot of furniture and stuff ends up on the curbs or for free on CL. So I just keep an eye out for something and pick it up. In this manner I got my coffee table, desk chair (found a better one and got rid of my old one), 2 bookcases, 2 speakers (yes, working audio speakers), and my houseplants.

 

Also, my apartment has this kind of open-room design. My kitchen isn't really separated from the rest of the place and there's a bar (with stools), too. I've got kind of a lounge next to the kitchen that's created by furniture arrangement, and then there's the "dance floor" and in the corner is my desk and study area. If I had a choice of planned remodel, I'd get a bigger, corner desk. But mostly, I just want the place to be clean for once.

 

Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for?

Not at all

 

What's your favorite animal? (You can have more than one.)

I love aquatic animals in particular, of which turtle and octopus are probably my favorites, but I also love nudibranchs. Of the land animals, I adore big and small cats and the ocelot in particular.

 

This is how the world ends... zombie apocalypse, robot uprising, alien invasion, return of the elder gods... which doomsday scenario do you prefer (or make your own!)?

As a Lovecraft fan, I've got to vote in favor of the elder gods returning.

My friends were playing Left for Dead and it was a little intense for me after drinking, I confess.

 

In the year 2525... if man is still alive... what sort of future do you imagine?

I'm not all that sure that people are capable of making the drastic changes needed to make our society and ways of life sustainable. Assuming that has been achieved, I'm not sure that we'll be as advanced as we imagine -- such changes will take a long time and a lot of money and resources to implement, which is going to take away from funding a space program. He adores catnip, and things to attack or scratch the hell out of would be great. Hell, the boy loves cardboard and will appropriate the packaging of anything for his own amusement/scratching pleasure. So really, if you want, I can just throw the packaging across the room and let him go nuts on it. He's very strange in that he refuses treats. He just has no interest in them unless they're in with the rest of his food, and they don't get preferential treatment even then.

Eh, anymore I'm not so much into spooky things as I am suspense. And there's a difference, since spooky I generally consider to be supernatural, but suspense can be just anything. I don't really have a favorite scary movie and nothing strikes me. OK, OK I confess that I have no idea about recent TV and movies because I don't watch TV, so I don't know what is out there, and I avoid the entertainment section of the news like the plague it is.

 

Are roasted pumpkin seeds and home made chex mix the best fall snack foods, or what?

The kind of apple pie that you get at the nearby Apple Hill. Thin crust full of a veritable mountain of fresh apples. And it's a lot of APPLE with just a teeny bit of sugary saucy stuff to it, and the apples still have a bit of crisp to them.

OMG yes please to all of the above? Especially socks and arm warmers. Or a hat. Anything hand-knitted would seriously have me swooning.

Nah, I'm hard to scare and even harder to gross out. Spooky stories are good. Maybe not a passion of mine, but they're good and entertaining to read. You gotta know though that I'm a scientist and pretty skeptical, but I do love a good story.

I never heard of it before. I googled it and it looks like something I'd watch if I can find it on hulu or netflix.

I don't drink coffee. I do like tea, but it's more often than not just too hot to drink tea. And while I also like hot chocolate and cider, I'm just not attracted to them when it's all warm and sunny out. I need to move back somewhere cold, cause I love (and miss!) rain and cold weather and being bundled up and drinking tasty hot cider/cocoa/tea.

 

Olive oil? Lavender?

I'm from much the same area as the original asker of this question, aka olive oil country. I can get plenty from my local farmer's market, so I'm not really all that keen on anymore. Besides, it lasts a loooong time in my hands.

 

Does anyone in here wear a lot of dangly earrings or collect pendants of all kinds?? How about hair clips or pony tail band things?

Dangly earrings are great if they are gauged. I majorly LOVE pendants of ANY kind. PENDAAAAAAANTS (said a la zombies asking for brains, mind you). I'd love hair stuff, since I never seem to buy any of it for myself. It's kind of short right now, and never gets beyond a few inches past my shoulders, but it could use some fun ornaments.

 

What is your favourite historical period?

Err... current? I don't know, I kind of like the social freedom of ours and modern medicine. Now if we're talking for fun or fashion-wise, Victorian/Steampunk.

 

Did you order anything from the most recent update?

I got the Falling Leaf Moon and some decants from the vampire/late summer scents are on their way to me. I might want a bottle of one of those. The absolute latest update though has a lot that appeals to me in the Hellboy category and I totally want at least one of the forum-onlies, but just the Moon for me. I might get decants of the Hellboys if there's a circle somewhere.
